I was born in Sacramento Ca in 79' and I grew up with this station. It brings me comfort. Just hearing that station ID gives me the feels. "THERE'S ONLY ONE 2 🎺🎺" =]
KTVU was the rebel station back in the day. Uncensored and controversial movies (Threads, Friday the 13th, etc.) and an awesome after school cartoon block (Captain Cosmic, TV Pow, etc.). I loved how they would play regular episodes of Scooby Doo during the week but on Friday they would play the special Celebrity episodes. And who can forget Dialing For Dollars? Great times!
@@tconnection7935 Pretty sure it was KTVU. They had a fake news report with kids announcing his arrival at the studio. They had someone in an Scooby Doo costume arrive in an limo.

San Jose born and raised in the 1970s/80s. I was hoping there would be an old Western Appliance commercial (Western Appliance..making life much easier for you!) in the mix, but the fact you captured a Frontier Village commercial, and the one advertising their closing, was hitting the classic jackpot. Was sorry to see it close, I had many birthdays there.
I was born in Berkeley and raised in Oakland, and these clips brings back so many, many memories. I had some of the best times in my life during this era.

lol, this was an old tape my grandpa had. I think the very early VCRs had issues with picking up the left and right channels (idk how to explain it). I tried it in a few machines with the same effect, so its probably imbedded in the recording

When was the last TV Guide ad to feature that "Solar Song #3" library music in use since 1968? I suppose not long after this? (Taylor Grant would V/O their ads for another year from here.)

I've seen compilations of TV Guide ads on here, and the 'spacey' music here was phased out by the end of 1980.
Marine World was in 'Redwood City'(technically Redwood Shores, which is more like Belmont) until 1985.
I been looking for that dentist commercial, it was dorthy from wizard of oz and a fairy, she would say "but dentist are so expensive"
Boy has the city changed in 40 years -- and not for the better
