I was born in Sacramento Ca in 79' and I grew up with this station. It brings me comfort.
Just hearing that station ID gives me the feels. "THERE'S ONLY ONE 2 🎺🎺" =]

KTVU was the rebel station back in the day. Uncensored and controversial movies (Threads, Friday the 13th, etc.) and an awesome after school cartoon block (Captain Cosmic, TV Pow, etc.). I loved how they would play regular episodes of Scooby Doo during the week but on Friday they would play the special Celebrity episodes. And who can forget Dialing For Dollars? Great times!

Channel 44 was home to scooby doo around this time frame I remembered

@@tconnection7935 Pretty sure it was KTVU. They had a fake news report with kids announcing his arrival at the studio. They had someone in an Scooby Doo costume arrive in an limo.

@@whtxombi4955 let me think of what was the legit cartoons on KTVU at the 1980-1982 block:
      Scooby
      Fred and Barney
Tom and Jerry(they did play the 1975-1976 season a lot…the infamous theme song)
      Jonny
      Woody woodpecker
      Spider man
Mighty Mouse with heckle and jeckle
      Classic Popeye
Voltron and Star blazers(before KICU aired them)
      Charlie and Humphrey show
Saving the best for last ROMPER ROOM

San Jose born and raised in the 1970s/80s. I was hoping there would be an old Western Appliance commercial (Western Appliance..making life much easier for you!) in the mix, but the fact you captured a Frontier Village commercial, and the one advertising their closing, was hitting the classic jackpot. Was sorry to see it close, I had many birthdays there.

LOL! 70's and 80's San Jose kid here too. My Grandparents used to take us kids to Frontier Village all the time.

8:21 Fun-fact... Ray Jacobs was one of the Marines who raised the American flag at Iwo Jima.

    • @armybeef68
      @armybeef68 3 ปีที่แล้ว

"Photographs of the first flag flown on Mount Suribachi were taken by Staff Sergeant Louis R. Lowery of Leatherneck magazine, who accompanied the patrol up the mountain, and other photographers afterwards.[17][18] Others involved with the first flag-raising include Corporal Charles W. Lindberg (who also helped raise the flag),[19] Privates First Class James Michels, Harold Schultz, Raymond Jacobs (F Company radioman), Private Phil Ward, and Navy corpsman John Bradley.[20][21] This flag was too small, however, to be easily seen from the northern side of Mount Suribachi, where heavy fighting would go on for several more days"
The first one, not the second one, which is more well known.
