    Great review! I can live without the 3.5mm jack, as I always bring an external DAC with me to listen to music, so this laptop will be great for me. I will purchase when it's available in my area.

    Try the envy 13 x360! Just received the top spec model and it looks and feels extremely premium. The tablet mode is great and the performance is way more then other thin and light convertables. I am not a DJ and I am happy with using my Bose QC 35 with Bluetooth on my laptop... I got used to this when I bought the iPhone 7 and thought that it was the stupidest thing a company could do... But now I realised that the bluetooth with my headphones is excellent and I can connect to both my phone and my laptop at the same time. You can very well have a USB-A to 3.5mm audio jack adaptor and still keep your USB-C for charging.
    The question is:
    Would you pass out on such a fantastic device just because there is no 3.5mm audio jack port? You mention external monitor using the usb C port. When you go DJ'ing, do you need an external monitor? when you walk in the street or take the train, do you need an external monitor? At home you can easily get a USB-C hub station where you can have all you need, including your 3.5mm jack, which I would use if my headphone battery runs out...
    I think making all this fuss for the lack of a 3.5mm audio jack is a bit over the top and even you as a DJ can do without. Your review is unreasonable, but I am happy that you do think this laptop is one of the best :)

    • @w2best
      @w2best  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought it last weekend and let me tell you, it's not a fantastic device. Video will be up on it soon. Worse quality than with any other laptop I tried...
      I also really want to stress this video is not a review. It's a bit of thoughts around how I think it would work for me after trying it quickly in store. I then bought it to try it for real and realized it has coil whine, a rattling trackpad, a broken webcam and much worse performance both in cpu and ssd speeds than Yoga Slim 7. The 3,5mm headphone jack was not much of an issue - there were enough other issues. :P

  • @ccallaghan84
    @ccallaghan84 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just an FYI. You can get cable-like headphone dongles, rather than just use the hard style included. This would be easier as you can just attach it to the headphones and forget about it.
    And man, you need to discover usb c hubs. I survive in my line of work with 1 port, let alone 2.

    No big deal with the 3,5 mm jack. In the more expensive versions of this laptop you get a very smooth USB-C to 3,5 mm adapter in the box. It can also be bought separately and cheap as an accessory. Why the fuzz? "Problem" solved in seconds... No big deal at all. Childish complain, since we use adapters almost every day to our phones, TV's, cameras, desktop ports, tablets, in the car, on the train, plane... and so on, and so on.

      Yep. Same here. And since now I'm mostly using a TWS, I don't think I'll ever have any uses for the jack. The TWS is good enough for like 99.99% of the time. Also I hate having cables dangling when I'm using the laptop; don't ask me how many times I forgot that there is cable in between my hand and my crotch and almost got it snapped. I couldn't get in the flow state when working because I'll have to remind myself every few seconds that there is the darn cable. 😂
      TWS also helps for when I need to take a little break; I can just get up and go anywhere and do whatever I wanted while still listening to whatever I'm listening to. It's such a great thing to have.

    I actually want a 15 inch for the num pad so this is interesting. I have been trying to decide out of this, the slim 7 (which is unavailable), and the HP envy which is also out of stock on the 400 nits option. The only Asus I can find is the UX425 with i7. Although, the slim 7 in the 15 inch is also i7 (I really do want AMD). The headphone jack isn't a deal breaker at all so now I'm still confused. My one concern. Does this feel too light and small?

    Very few people need or use the audio jack on laptops but we, of course, RESPECT you need it every day. Fine. But then you say, "I think this makes it the BEST AND WORST specification I have ever seen in a laptop." That implies that there's all sorts of spec issues that make this laptop a disappointment for the typical user when REALLY you mean it sucks FOR YOU. This is like you never buying a car without a sunroof complaining that (insert car here) sucks because it doesn't have a sunroof. Most people don't have sunroofs, most people don't use laptop audio jacks.
