Looking at this makes me feel bad for people who settle for a Dell XPS. Asus proved to the world that you can build an ultra sleek laptop without losing on ports. @@w2best First impressions are very positive. The screen is a pleasure to look at with several profiles to choose from (normal, vivid, manual). The keyboard is excellent and accurate to type on, the device is snappy and responsive. The touchpad is sturdy and large, although I found it a bit sensitive but you get used to it. The webcam is also very good and clear compared to most of the webcams I've used. The fan noise is noticeable, but if you switch to silent mode it becomes quiet. The audio is weak and below average, so if you're switching from Lenovo, you'll definitely notice the difference. I'm not sure if there will be future issues, and my overall feeling will change towards the laptop. But so far, I'm very pleased with it, and it met my expectations. Hope this helps for now! Bash
Yep. Same here. And since now I'm mostly using a TWS, I don't think I'll ever have any uses for the jack. The TWS is good enough for like 99.99% of the time. Also I hate having cables dangling when I'm using the laptop; don't ask me how many times I forgot that there is cable in between my hand and my crotch and almost got it snapped. I couldn't get in the flow state when working because I'll have to remind myself every few seconds that there is the darn cable. 😂 TWS also helps for when I need to take a little break; I can just get up and go anywhere and do whatever I wanted while still listening to whatever I'm listening to. It's such a great thing to have.
I was really close to ordering one a few days ago but the usb c port can't charge or be used for display out. That is just a crazy double crazy choice imo. :(

Very few people need or use the audio jack on laptops but we, of course, RESPECT you need it every day. Fine. But then you say, "I think this makes it the BEST AND WORST specification I have ever seen in a laptop." That implies that there's all sorts of spec issues that make this laptop a disappointment for the typical user when REALLY you mean it sucks FOR YOU. First time here, I ordered Zenbook 14 UM425 today, im excited , but I really can't tell where you're from with tht accent 🤭🤭
Oh you did. I was very close to order it last night when there was a good offer - but I just don't hink I'd live trhough the lack of headphone jack. Let me know how it goes! I'm from Sweden - pretty classic swedish accent I think. :)
Are you satisfied with its performance?
Oh hi! the person didn't answer you, but i can. I have the the exactly same model and it's great! it works very well, so fast. The more complicated programs like photoshop, illustrator etc. works really well. The only issue i have with it is that it get's loud and hot when gaming. It's really uncomfy since it's made from some kind of steel or whatever, sorry my english is not the best. But maybe it is only my model's problem. I don't even knoe if it's a bad thing, since it's my first laptop. I'm more used to using pc
@@sarakolkova2473 Tysm!! Sadly they don’t sell them anymore where I live :((
Could you please review this laptop with Ryzen 7 - 4700 version. And comparing score the benchmark AMD versus Intel.
I would love to do that but if I don't manage to get review samples I probably wont. I don't wanna spend hard earned money on it. If there is an amazing offer somewhere - it might happen too :)
@@w2best if you buy it and then you return it after 1 week you could get all the money back or no?
@@valentinkalman6121 that depends on your country i guess but in sweden that's the way it works.
Looking at this makes me feel bad for people who settle for a Dell XPS. Asus proved to the world that you can build an ultra sleek laptop without losing on ports. Although, I'll admit that the omission of the headphone jack is a weird one. I was so close to ordering the Lenovo slim 7 but it was out of stock so I purchased this computer instead. Let's hope Asus is worth your money!
I'm super keen to know if the unit you get is free from quality control issues! My 2nd Yoga Slim 7 has pretty bad coil whine and I'm actually considering switching to the Zenbook 14 instead...
@@w2best Considering you're thinking of switching to the ZenBook even with the omission of the headphone jack means you like it a lot! I'll let you know if I encounter any quality control issues. I want to use the Asus as my daily driver so I need it to work properly!
@@brainactivity737 I def. like it a lot! I think the overall package in the zenbook is really attractive! Especially for a work & travel laptop. I used to DJ a lot before covid and I think zenbook is not a good DJ option bc of no headphone jack! :)

Thanks a lot!!
Never used 3.5 jack on my laptop in 4 years
Haha then maybe this is for you! I use it every single day :P
Yep. 😂
TWS also helps for when I need to take a little break; I can just get up and go anywhere and do whatever I wanted while still listening to whatever I'm listening to. It's such a great thing to have.
check out the um433 version. it has 3.5mm jack with ryzen 7 4700u, but only 16gb of ram and mx350. ther also might be a better version also
yeah and no thunderports tho:/
I was really close to ordering one a few days ago but the usb c port can't charge or be used for display out. That is just a crazy double crazy choice imo. :(
W2Best - Tech, Travel & Inspiration jep:( its a shame that there is no perfect zenbook. you have to choose between this or that:( just stupid. at least in this budget
Correct me if I'm wrong but was it the thing that the laptop got realized only for Baltic countries? Like Finland Norway and Sweden? (Not sure about Denmark)
Hehe, None of those countries are baltic countries. I'm not sure though if it's scandinavia only. I think that would be strange but the Intel lobby is strong, I wouldn't be too surprised.
@@w2best oh yeah sorry I meant Scandinavia. I actually bought this laptop few days ago for 599 € on Ryzen 7 with 16/512gb
Where? That price is insane!!
@@w2best so I live in Finland and there was loacal store nierby and they dropped this laptop's price from 1299€ down to 899 and than on top of it I got 300€ sale because I'm a student. That's how it went. The only thing I'm not happy about laptop is than it have an LPDDR4 memory. LP in that case stands for Low power and yeas it does mean more battery life but it also means that the ram is slower. But in the end I can say that I got the jackpot.
You got one of the most premium laptops on the market for a price that almost just gets you a Chromebook :p pretty solid deal!!
So which one is better
Between the amd and Intel version?
@@w2best yes, which one is better? 👀
Hi everyone ! I got a new laptop today, a Lenovo idea pad S145 . But I am not sure about something that has to do with the first open up... Should I open the laptop or charge it first ????
You can start using it when you put it to charge. I normally start using laptops plugged in first but I'm not sure it makes an actual difference to the battery.
Please it has fingerprint?
I actually want a 15 inch for the num pad so this is interesting. I have been trying to decide out of this, the slim 7 (which is unavailable), and the HP envy which is also out of stock on the 400 nits option. The only Asus I can find is the UX425 with i7. Although, the slim 7 in the 15 inch is also i7 (I really do want AMD). The headphone jack isn't a deal breaker at all so now I'm still confused. My one concern. Does this feel too light and small?
@@ukaszwiewiora8151 honestly the jack isn't a deal breaker at all. I have 2 sets of Bluetooth headphones and a mobile phone with a jack and Bluetooth
@@ukaszwiewiora8151 thanks. I cannot seem to find the AMD option anywhere. Just the I5 and I7. I currently have an older Zenbook flip which I've loved.
@@ukaszwiewiora8151 I'm from New Zealand but living in Colombia. I've been looking in the US and NZ
@@ukaszwiewiora8151 thank you !!
So you got one with a Nordic keyboard? :) I'm a bit annoyed elgiganten is the only one in the country selling the AMD version...
There's no Display Port in UM425! Only power supply.
Where do you get that info? I'm quite sure you're wrong from every specification I've read and from testing it with my portable monitor that runs off displayport. :P
My head phone jack is usbC... believe me 🤔
Hey! I read the amd and intel have a different feel on their keyboard is it true?
I have also read this! I haven't tried the intel version yet but I thought the amd one was great so if intel is even better that sounds great!
@@w2best That's great to know! My only deal breaker for now is that the ones available to my country is the lower spec display which isn't the 1 watt option, I read that the Intel and AMD baseline display is different.
Did you get to see the AMD baseline display? Quite curious how bad/good it is
In Sweden it's not available in any other config than with the 1w display. If battery life is important for you I would really wait for that spec!
At what speeds does the memory run ?
It's ddr4x 4200mhz here! :)
3.5mm jack comes as an attachment in the box
I mention this too, but then it takes up a usb c port...
SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro
Pls review this, it should be the most awesome CPU-Power-Mobile-Laptop
I might get it if there is a proper sale on it! Or if in some way I would be able to get a sample from asus. :)
This is like you never buying a car without a sunroof complaining that (insert car here) sucks because it doesn't have a sunroof. Most people don't have sunroofs, most people don't use laptop audio jacks.
I don't have any data specifying most people don't use 3,5mm jack. Most people I know and see use laptops ie in my office use headphones pretty much daily. I talk about the product from my perspective, and I'm glad it can spark done discussions. I'm quite clear in the video there is no issues except this that I find a deal breaker.
To be fair though - one of the reasons I'd be keen to test the machine is to see if I can get used to not using 3,5 :)
@@w2best I agree. Not having an audio jack is kind of disappointing. It means we have to use usb c hub that has usb port and audio jack.
USB-c to 3,5 mm jack is in the box, wtf
Dongle life is so good. I really can't lose a USB c port for that reason though.
Anyone know if that can plug headphones into USBc port like Apple does? Or is it completely Bluetooth based?
You can use the adapter or a pair of USB c headphones.
I have just bought this Asus UM425 notebook and returned it as faulty as the touchpad is acting strange. Is anyone here possessing this laptop able to tell me whether the low area of the mousepad is making a click noise even when just tapping it? The computer I returned would make a click noise even when I lightly touch the low part of the mouse, while the upper part of the mouse is behaving as expected without sounds, I am a Mac user and I am not sure if all Asus' touchpad are meant to act like that or if mine was faulty?
Watch my review of it. One of the reasons I immediately returned it. It was exactly the same. Incredibly annoying imo...
@@w2best which laptop with similar features of UM425 would you reccomend ? I mean lightweight, portable, 14inches, nice looking, good price like this one? (I had bought the Ryzen 5 which is perfectly fine for me, I mostly use for regular surfing and office docments only)
I have upp until now recommended yoga slim 7 but now after 2ish weeks with the Matebook 14 4600h i can just whole heartedly recommend it! Amazing screen, keyboard and trackpad for the price. It's missing an sd card reader but if you can live without that i can't see a very laptop right now.
I think I can live without the 3.5 mm headphone jack..There are usb type c headphones..And Bluetooth earphones are way better...So I hope to get it very soon
I got it last weekend. Returned it in 24h. Worst quality control I've ever experienced. Webcam was not working, trackpad was rattling like crazy and coil whine right from the start. I would not buy it even at sale price. Video about my experience will be up this weekend.
How is it supposed to be like this worse? I mean seeing the configuration, I can't believe this ..So waiting for weekend now..Maybe only ur unit had this kind of problem
Yes I agree. But a unit that has THAT many issues I can't be bothered with trying out again.
Whats better battery between ux425ja and um425ia?
They are the same battery size so then it's depending of use. The CPU:s have similar power draw and they are both available with the very low power 1w screen at 400n. :) Battery life will be amazing here.
@@w2best for rendering video or use adobe premier pro better intel i5 or amd r7?
@@ezrakusuma1519 Hope you don't mind me responding. I would suggest to opt for intel chipsets as AMD drivers are not using rendering videos or using premier pro. Asus has promised for a driver update but not sure about it.
@@muralimadugula2318 I agree here - the amd APUs are not working that well for video editing currently, but the internal gpu of an i5 or i7 is not very powerful either. I'd rather go for another model if you need video editing. One with an mx350 for example.
Is there ram & m.2 upgradability for the ryzen model?
no ram upgrade. SSD can be changed but theres only one slot.
@@w2best One additional slot or only one slot for SSD? Specsheet mention two slots for SSD, including the one already occupied, but the shopkeeper claims otherwise
@@shreyanshjain5970 I haven't seen a spec anywhere that there would be an extra ssd in this model. Where have you seen that? however that is in ideapad 5 and yoga slim 7 but only useable in the amd versions.
@@w2best In the official specsheet published in asus website, it mentions 256GB / 512GB / 1TB PCIe® NVMe™ 3.0 x2 M.2 SSD.
I'm not exactly sure if it means an additional slot, but the Asus service center confirmed me that.

I've pasted link for your reference.
Ah I understand what you mean! This is just the interface, not 2 slots. The battery takes all space here and 2 slots would be impossible...
So, THE WORST SPECIFICATION EVER! is the omission of the 3.5mm, the rest is amazing. OMG you have a dongle "that sticks out a bit" Hyperbole, much?
If you watch my review i made street buying it the rest wasn't very amazing... So I REALLY don't recommend it
How much % rSGB on the display?
I believe it's 100 but I don't have the spec in my head
97%
Vs um462??
I gotta take a look at that!!
It hasn't got the new ryzen series! Don't go there...

I have actually not seen any version with 250 in Scandinavia but it has been mentioned elsewhere and it's also 2,5w... So strange...
