Thanks for the tip :) I saw another comment saying the same. I had no idea. It's still a bit inaccurate though compared to it starting exactly as you press the button IMO.
Hi! Two metrics are important to me - heart rate at rest and heart rate variability. Garmin measures variability only during sleep, and sleeping with Garmin, for example, 51 mm is too much. I had a 955 solar, sold it and bought an ultra 2.
i got the fenix 8 after thinking hard if it was worth it. For me i can say it is so much better than my ultra 1 for sports. The optical sensor never worked good for me on all of my apple watches and i don't like bands ( i have a polar band ). The Fenix 8 works like a charm in that aspect and for sports it just feels more like it was made for me. I also use Komoot and this app works much better on the fenix 8. My apple watch moved to my other wrist just for the things it does best, an extension of my iphone.
Thanks. Just purchased the Garmin 55. Dont need much just one gear to track and assess my run. No need to have all the metrics under the sun. Have anyone ever told you that you look like John Krasinski?
I've done the same this week. I'm switching from the Apple Watch to a Garmin watch. As someone who uses a lot the watch outside now, the Apple Watch battery is terrible; I have to recharge it twice per day. Meanwhile, the Garmin lasts from 5 to 6 days so far. On the other hand, the Garmin watch isn't really a smartwatch, it does okay the basics of a watch, but it excels in sports tracking.
I'm in the Amazfit ecosystem and it's interesting that Amazfit seems so similar to Garmin, the Apple Watch from what you read doesn't seem specifically tailored for running.
Did you know you can press the screen when the Apple Watch is counting down and it then starts the work out instantly. Still not as good as the start button on the Garmin’s but it’s a little better
You forgot to mention that Apple charges you more than double the price for that lap button too LOL! I have the Ultra 2 and the Garmin Epix pro. I just wear both when I run but the Ultra can last easily a marathon while even listening to music as well a 100K. But I wouldn’t recommend listening to music if you run that far. The heart rate sensor and the gps especially on the Ultra is right there with any Garmin that’s out there. I agree that if you’re a serious athlete and if you’re really into the numbers, get a Garmin. But if you’re a person that’s health conscious and you want an absolute astonishing smartwatch get the Apple. It doesn’t have to be the Ultra because they’re both more similar than you think.
Garmin is overrated. People think you absolutely need a Garmin if you want to take your training seriously. I went from a 4:20 marathon to sub 3 hour in 18 months with an Apple Watch
Another advantage with Garmin is their ecosystem of units, that work seamlessly together. No watch will, in my mind, ever replace a cycling computer. And you don't get that from Apple.
@@Adrian-rl2zw I think they are pretty equal. In theory the Garmin is better than Apple Watch Series but Apple Watch Ultra has Sonar GPS and should be on par with Garmin. I have an Apple watch Series 9 and I find it to be on par with my Garmin for accuracy.

I want to switch to garmin because i hate to charge my watch every day ( its a f***ing watch) I love to do a lot of sport but i dont care all those numbers i just need the time and heartbeat. The only thing i hate about the garmin is that it cant use an eSim. I mean its made tho walk/run whatever for days in nature but if you are in danger or need help you cant call any? Garmin has a feature called “Emergency mode” or something like that - You can set it up to send your location to specific people of your choosing, when you are in danger - Even if it detects a crash it can do it automatically. I think it comes down to the smartwatch features.. IMO Apple Watch is superior when it comes to being a smartwatch with app connectivity and using it as an extension of your iPhone. But if you only need it for fitness data, I love Garmin and think they are a much better Sport Watch brand. Especially for endurance training.

When I was younger, we just trained, had a shower and chilled out. No watch, no nonsense, no stress or materialistic bs. Just train and stop all this wasted time, just live your life and enjoy. You don’t need an app for that.
While I totally get the simplicity of just training and living in the moment, for athletes today-whether they’re into endurance sports, strength training, or any serious physical pursuit-access to real-time data like heart rate variability, recovery metrics, and performance insights can make a huge difference. These tools aren’t about adding stress; they’re about optimizing training and preventing burnout or injury. People are breaking records and reaching higher levels of performance than ever, largely because they have access to these metrics. It’s not about needing an app, but using technology to enhance what you’re already doing
Data counts and it helps with improvement . Yeah of course back then let’s just run and whoever reaches the finish line is the winner. Yeah we get it. But tech helps keep up with the time and athletes train with accuracy and improvement day by day. Data helps with improving and knowing when to ease recovery and understand when and each individual peak.

You can turn the Apple Watch count down off in settings. Lol And if it’s on and you click on the screen during count down you touch the screen once and skips the count down.
I returned it my Coros Pace 3. During exercise it’s great but otherwise it was way off just walking around or sitting still. Also, I don’t like how your training load starts over every week. Also, didn’t like the 1.2 inch display. No abnormal heart rate alerts like Garmin
I find the Garmin a pretty poor watch to track strength training. But I'll never be an Apple guy. I have been a bit disappointed with my Garmin Epix 2 for several reasons. Now that I am also looking into a bicycle computer, I really want to make sure I invest into the right eco system. Garmin covers everything but I am unsure if I should swap or go with Garmin...
It’s fashionable now for the ladies to wear garmins. I’m not sporty and considered buying it (because of the fashion) but I just could not stomach that big round clock face on my arm - the signature look of the garmin. There also a lot of cheap imitation rips offs like with Samsung and I find that the asthetic appeal, material and finishes are better overall with the iwatch. If I was into sports, I’d just work my way around the negatives - because it works better in its overall functionality (if you use the watch for multi purpose). I don’t know what it is, but I don’t like the look of garmin. Apple all the way!
