    Whenever I start painting in too controlled a manner I come back to this masterly video to loosen up. Marc's simplicity is genius! I took all his Craftsy classes & they are great. Thanks for posting this

      Just discovered this.. lovel lovel painting. Thecolouring isgreat.
      But loose? I don't think. He is very controlled.
      A very detailled drawing.. every shadow is specified with pencil lines.. practically everything is painted painstakenly with the very tip of his brush. No flowing color..
      But gorgeous work.

    Just discovered these videos. As others have said, the video and camera angles are great. About the music, it is not only too loud, but ... it's hard to know what kind of music is appropriate for everyone. For urban sketching, the sounds from the street fill in the time when Marc isn't talking. We've all been out there drawing and hearing the street sounds makes me feel like I'm out there again. There's a lot of precedent for this in other urban sketching videos. So how about trying them without music? Let the subject shine through -- the whole atmosphere is there. Thanks for considering this!

    Amazing. I didn't mind the music at all. I found the video wonderful. What a lucky day to watch him sketch and paint!! Love it!

    a great urban plein air sketch. it also shows that if you have a very good quality and responsive brush outdoors, then you don't need a million brushes to do the job but one that can produce a high vocabulary of strokes, really convenient in a plein air setting.

    • @elsagrace3893
      @elsagrace3893 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      gio penn how about the really good quality and responsive hand, mind, eye? Whatever makes you think that your doing your best though....

      This is more than a sketch. Also, so many people overlook, ignore or don't understand the important of the DRAWING.It's not about a paint brush and strokes. Without a solid drawing, there can be no decent painting. Sketching is different, but I wouldn't call this a sketch.

    I admire how he does this. Painting such a scene is very difficult: the shadows change all the time.

    This is incredible. Thank you for sharing with the rest of us. My question might be naive, but I didn’t see how he managed to rinse the brush or prevent color contamination. That’s always a big concern for me. Hope someone explains. Thanks!

      @FollowingtheWhiteRabbit  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Oh I am sorry. I guess it depends on the volume or your computer. Mine is always rather low. That said, I chose to lower the music in my last video as I was thinking it could be too loud so I think you are right. I will keep lowering the music in my next videos too. Thank you for your feedback.

    • @tednorth4795

      You can't make "right" choices because people are different. Most of us do not need music at all in these educational/instructional videos. Those who prefer to have music in the background can easily turn on their own music according with their personal taste and preferences.
