  • Sketching in the Lisbon harbor on a sunny afternoon. This is one of my favorite locations in the city and I go there very often to do some sketching.

    Wow extremely helpful in sketching buildings at that angle. Just what I was looking for and the speed with which you did it was perfect because we got to see most of the process. I assume sides of the windows on the buildings were drawn parallel to the page? and the bottom ones parallel to the top and bottom Line? I ask because I'm just getting into perspective and I want to make sure that's what it is. thank you so much

    Hi Filipe you are pretty amazing and so inspiring. I'd like to buy some new art supplies like yours but first I need to know if the ink you use, the Noodlers, is dangerous for the fountain pens if it dry, and you have to wash pens and converters every time you stop drawing.

    • @filipeda27
      @filipeda27  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lunahverde I never had any problems with the Noodlers ink, it never dried in any of my pens. But I never left any pen without use for too long.
      Usually I refill my pens many times in a row without washing, but if you stop using a pen I would recommend taking out the ink and washing it.

      @nou257 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Filipe Almeida oh i see! i make handmade watercolor sketchbooks too using the coptic stitch technique, it's just cheaper that way and i can get to use arches too!

  • @faypaints
    @faypaints 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is this sketchbook also made with Arches Drawing paper? Why do you choose Arches' drawing paper over watercolor paper? This paper seems to handle the ink and washes well. I'm still searching for the right paper for my sketchbooks. Have been using watercolor paper, but wish there was something a little thinner. I am hoping that Arches drawing paper might be a possibility. Thanks. Love your sketches!

    • @filipeda27
      @filipeda27  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Faypaints, actually the use of the Arches drawing paper was an experiment. I wanted to try a cream colored paper and this was what I found. Although it holds the ink and water well, I think it absorbs the colour a bit much and sometimes the result is a bit bland.
      If you want thin watercolour paper for a sketchbook you can try the Fabriano Studio 200gr, the Canson C à Grain 180gr or a Bockinford 192gr. They are easy to fold and do hold the water.

    • @faypaints
      @faypaints 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Filipe. I have looked at the Saunders paper in the past, also, and wondered if that would work. I really appreciate your input. Happy Sketching!

      Filipe, Beautifully done! Noodler's Black is supposed to be a permanent ink but not a waterproof ink. From your demo, it seems you can safely use watercolor over it.
