I watched the whole video without thinking I should speed it up, which is what I often do. So I would definitely vote to keep your videos in real time. BTW - loved watching you work.
Being an impatient sort, I watch almost all my craft and Photoshop videos at 1.5X. (I think there's one presenter who speaks so quickly that I need to slow it down from that, but most of the time it works well.) I have no issues with longer videos because they include more realtime demonstration-even at 1.5X I will skip ahead (the advantage of watching on a laptop instead of the phone). Some presenters provide a lot of tips in the narrative that I wouldn't hear elsewhere (e.g., Tim Holtz, who I never watch live because 2.5 hours is just too long in real time), so even when what I'm seeing is familiar, I stick around for those. Occasionally I do go back and sometimes I do slow things down. Others may watch differently, but I spend half of each day online (perhaps 1-2 hours on TH-cam), and this is the most efficient way for me to get the content I value.

Anna, thanks very much, I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos and I appreciate the feedback, it seems that real time is "the people's choice", more videos coming soon!
Hi Vikki. Thanks for another great video. I do like the real time format, but enjoy them all. It is a much slower process for me, as I live in a humid climate and have to wait for the layers to dry. Botanical are always a favorite for me. 😊
Beautiful! I tried copying some botanical batik fabric on my channel and I still need to get some golden paint to perfect it. I was just using what I had on hand. I couldn’t get the translucency I needed and I used way too much paint. Yours are so beautiful and fun - I always love the lipstick holder but am loving the print from the little cup! This is such a fun process - I think the first one is my favorite also!
Thanks very much! Golden is truly my favorite for this type of gelli print. The little brandy glass is a "go to" favorite of mine! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I've just found your channel and I watched just half way through this video and had to subscribe! So many amazing ideas and tips. Your prints are beautiful. Thank you. 😊
Thank you, Janice! I will have to admit here that I have not "deployed" all of these prints yet, in a way deciding many of them "precious" and refusing to tear them up...but their time will come!
These are great! Thanks! I guess if I'd use some plants and leaves that are dry (I had saved some), they'd stick to the jelly plate and be hard to pick up, and little pieces and bits would stick.?
Maureen, that is correct, the dried leaves and flowers will crush on the gelli plate, it is best to use pliable fresh leaves as soon as you collect them, thanks for your question!
Thank you Christeen, yes! All new videos will be presented in the "real time" format, and viewers have the option, as you pointed out, to speed them up!

I so prefer real time, otherwise I slow it down and have to turn the volume off. I love your style, and these prints came out beautifully. Do you prefer the liquid paint to the tube paint, is it easier to use on the gel plate? Thank you showing your process.
Thank you Margaret! The majority of the comments favor real time, so there will be more videos in that style! I MUCH prefer the fluid acrylics (Golden...I've tried the Liquitex fluids and they are not the same), UNLESS you are doing photo transfers and "color lifts", in which case the Amsterdam full body pigments are the key! Thanks for your question!
Thank you Vikki. Just found you and really enjoyed and found this video just great. Lots of inspiration and I am ready to brave the gel plate in my box and give it a go. I am happy with the real time video as find them easy to fast forward if I like. Though sometimes the things I find interesting the commentator might not. So in that case I prefer the normal speed video. I am certainly going to subscribe and catch up with the rest of your great videos. Thank you. :)
Ane, wonderful! Thanks so much for subscribing! I hope you LOVE gel plate printing as much as I do...there is a bit of a learning curve, and your climate can have a big impact, but the magic of pulling a fantastic print is irresistible!
Thank you for asking! It is the second most asked question, after "what kind of paper are you using?" For the most part I use them in mixed media collages, and yes, they can be framed individually, made into greeting cards, used as journal pages, and yes, I do have piles of pretty paper here, which eventually find their way into projects. Here are some videos on all the uses I describe! Perfect speed! So should we use rice paper for our final prints? I want something that I could frame and hang on the wall. So what kind of paper should I use?
Great questions Vivian! Yes, you can either assemble a collage with your rice paper gelli prints (see Gelli Print Dragonfly Collage Art - th-cam.com/video/081YLYf8_3o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cw-K0Gnz6M9C-8ok OR, you can print on heavier stock (HP Premium 32 Copy Paper works best for me) and mount it to panel - see it in Adding Gelli Plate Dragonfly Art to Panel)...th-cam.com/video/IWM_WTl6vUk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VJEKeWw6pjxE5Y3D hopefully those will cover your questions!
Hello I just love this video with leaves I have a question for you, where did you get your paper to print or what kind of paper do you use in this video ? Thank you
Suzanne, thanks for your question! All supplies are listed below the video, just click "more" in the description. The paper is JapanBargain Calligraphy Rice Paper from Amazon, I provide a link that takes you to my Amazon Affiliate page where I get a small commission, while you pay the same amount for the product, it helps support my channel!
Hi Kathleen, thank you for your questions! I had to Google art quilts as I was not familiar with the term! I don't know how you would sew paper into a quilt, and the rice paper is not a sturdy paper, but I use it in collage all the time, in fact that's why I like it, because it is thin and virtually melts into the mixed media work!...I use matte medium to adhere the prints to canvas or board, matte medium over it as well, and then a coat of Winsor & Newton General Purpose Matte Spray Varnish. The next question I usually get is "can you gelli print on fabric" and the answer is yes, but I have not done it successfully, I would suggest you search that term, I know you will find what you're looking for!
I love these - and as I am totally new to this my question: how do you go on with the finished prints? Can ricepaper be framed? Do you glue it to something else?
Hi, thank you for your question! Framing the rice paper or adhering it to panel is a bit of a challenge, I primarily use the rice paper for collage work in mixed media pieces. If you want to frame or adhere to panel, I suggest using copy paper, my favorite is HP32Premium, which is ideal for greeting cards, or mounting to panel, you can see that in this video..."Adding Gelli Plate Dragonfly Art to Wood Panel" th-cam.com/video/IWM_WTl6vUk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KS4RaV6iNlyosaWQ
When you say, you just heard white or i heard you ask if it was dry. Were you talking about from your higher conscious or is someone else there? Love this either way.
lol, thank you, no one else is physically present, I just often “hear” that I should pick up certain colors, etc. and I’m happy for the guidance! Thanks for your comment and question!
Thank you, Amanda! 12:12p. These are gorgeous! This is my first time seeing the process. Do you trim and frame these as they are or is there some other process for using them?
Thank you! You can simply mount them to panel, or what I usually do is tear them up for collage in mixed media pieces. I have videos on both, and one that features some of each! To see some of my work, you can visit vikkireed.com/
What do you/ people do with all their beautiful pulls/prints? Cant frame them all. I want to make paper beads with mine done with crinkled kraft paper gellied.
Allie, that is a smashing idea! I show a "gelli print ball" made at the end of the "Layered Gelli Prints with Stencils" video th-cam.com/video/ZvrouyTnm_I/w-d-xo.html and there are many other options. For the most part, I use the gelli prints torn up in mixed media collage pieces. I also use them to make greeting cards, and as mentioned, they can be art pieces on their own, mounted to panel. Your idea of making paper beads sounds wonderful!
Cela donne envie d'expérimenter. Cela semble infini ! Pourriez-vous par contre expliquer comment vous nettoyez la plaque et les rouleaux ? Par quel processus ? Merci ! Colette
Colette, thank you, YES! Experimenting is the key! As far as cleaning the plate and the brayers, you can find that information in this video! th-cam.com/video/TarWhnNE3fw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pjhnl5fJVhYYz4Dv
HI Kari, thanks for your question, if your question is, can you apply the gelli prints on rice paper to canvas with matte medium, absolutely! If you mean can you transfer the image, then no. I routinely use the gelli prints for collage in my mixed media pieces, I usually don't apply the entire print to canvas, preferring panel instead because it has no "give" and the birchwood panel gives a firm surface to adhere the print without tearing it (the rice paper is delicate, if you want to work this method, the HP Premium 32 is a better paper choice). Here is a video showing the application of a gelli print to panel...th-cam.com/video/IWM_WTl6vUk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=p741C1qs9RVkGtUA

You're so much fun, I really enjoy watching your process!
Thank you for your comment, it made me smile!
Great work bful pages..so glad i find your chanel thank you
Hi Gila, thank you, so glad you enjoyed, thank you for viewing and commenting!
I just love watching your real-time process of you wondering about your next steps :-)
Your color combos are Always Fantastic!!!
Susanne from SF Bay Area
Susanne, thank you so much! I love color and I'm glad to hear that the real-time is appreciated, there will definitely be more of it!
Thanks for the wonderful demo. I need to get to an op shop to find a few things to make interesting marks. I also use leaves in my own pieces but I like to press them flat first.
Wonderful! I’m so glad you’re feeling inspired, thanks for watching and commenting!
Yet another wonderful tutorial. I'm so impressed with your talent. I put my gelli plate and paints away because I wasn't getting pretty prints but now I think that YOU have giving me a 'handle' on making some prints that I like.
Thanks so much! I hope you will keep at it because I know the thrill you will feel when you start seeing those amazing pulls! It doesn't always happen for me either, but it's a bit like a gambler, the excitement of the wins keeps me going until I get there again!
Real time for me. Let others speed it up if they wish. I do skip forward sometimes too. Just discovered you and am enjoying your videos. I am way overdue for a gelli session. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Will definitely be filming more in real time!
Great..you have good thinking and get great results..thanks
Paula, thank you! I appreciate your comment, I don’t always feel like my thinking is so great, lol
Hi Vicki, I received my first set of gel plates from Ranger a couple of days ago. I found you by Googling to find out which papers are best for printing. Your color combinations are wonderful...your color placements as well. Thank you for being ‘out there’ for viewers to find...
It is my pleasure Elena, thank you for watching and commenting, I hope you fall in love with gelli plate printing as I have!
Really nice! Thank you!
Thank you, Lynn, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
We are watching your video and enjoying it so much!! As well as your attitude about the art itself and outcomes. We love you and will watch more videos. Watching in real time is great!! Thank you so much inspirational and creative lady!! 🐞
♥
Anna, thanks very much, I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos and I appreciate the feedback, it seems that real time is "the people's choice", more videos coming soon!
I really enjoy your process! I actually like both, fast and real time. You are such an inspiration. 🤗💕
Music to my ears, Deborah, thank you so much...I'm glad you feel inspired!
how fun, thanks for posting vikki
so glad you enjoyed, thanks for your comment!
Hi Vikki. Thanks for another great video. I do like the real time format, but enjoy them all. It is a much slower process for me, as I live in a humid climate and have to wait for the layers to dry. Botanical are always a favorite for me. 😊
Thank you Cathy! Yes, if it is humid, you do have to wait in between layers. I appreciate the feedback!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
love your videos and your creative mind...thank you!
Thanks very much, Theresa! (My middle name btw)
I've just found your channel and I watched just half way through this video and had to subscribe! So many amazing ideas and tips. Your prints are beautiful. Thank you. 😊
Wow, thank you for your lovely comment/compliment and for subscribing!
Beautiful pieces 🤗♥️
Thank you, Cyndi!
I loved this one, Vikki. Such an interesting use of nature with beautiful results. That first print is magical! And I’m definitely a fan of real time.
Thank you, Cathy! The people have spoken, more real time videos on the way!
Love the entire video!
Good results 💖
Thank you, Janice! I will have to admit here that I have not "deployed" all of these prints yet, in a way deciding many of them "precious" and refusing to tear them up...but their time will come!
Awesome I learned you used scotch tape to remove the bits from the plants !!!! I was troubled by the bits on my gelli plate!!!😮
That’s so great! I’m glad you got a tip that you can use to make Gelli Printing more fun and successful!
Same goes for arodaphne. Thought it was that.needs gloves!!Great results!!👏👏
Thank you, Yiola, I had to Google arodaphne, good to know!
Gorgeous!
Thank you!
I like the real time best! Is relaxing
Great feedback, thank you! Another video (real time) coming up Sunday (I hope!)
Great techniques.
Thank you Minna!
PS regarding film speed, there is a “gear” shaped icon on the top right of the screen that people can use to speed up or slow down 😊
Thank you Christeen, yes! All new videos will be presented in the "real time" format, and viewers have the option, as you pointed out, to speed them up!
Please tell me what kind of paper you used for this process. They are absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for this tutorial.
Of course! It is JapanBargain Calligraphy Rice Paper from Amazon and thank you!
It’s so beautiful 👏👏💕
Thanks so much, the botanicals are the best!
Love your work!
Beverly, thanks so much for watching and commenting!
So well done thank you❤
Thanks very much!
I love the prints and the colours. I'm new to this and I've no idea how you use these prints when they're done?
Thanks very much! I have several videos on how to use the prints, I use them in mixed media/collage art works as well as for greeting cards...here are a few videos to get you started!
Real time!!!! Yes please!!
Thank you, you are voting with the majority!
WOW! Awesome!
Thank you, Maureen!
I hope you LOVE gel plate printing as much as I do...there is a bit of a learning curve, and your climate can have a big impact, but the magic of pulling a fantastic print is irresistible!
wouah🤩🥰que faites vous avec ces jolies impressions?🙏merci pour ce partage
Thank you for asking! It is the second most asked question, after "what kind of paper are you using?" For the most part I use them in mixed media collages, and yes, they can be framed individually, made into greeting cards, used as journal pages, and yes, I do have piles of pretty paper here, which eventually find their way into projects. Here are some videos on all the uses I describe!

Most recently I used gelli prints I made (of "Cityscapes) in a custom drum head I created for a client called "Together We Rise"...
That said, there is truly benefit in creating happily just for the sake of creating...check out the new book, "Your Brain on Art"!
Can you use these in an art quilt? Would you have to seal the rice paper somehow? Thanks!
Nice work 💙
Thanks very much, Anne!
@@VikkiReed thank you very much 💚🙏
When you say, you just heard white or i heard you ask if it was dry. Were you talking about from your higher conscious or is someone else there? Love this either way.
lol, thank you, no one else is physically present, I just often “hear” that I should pick up certain colors, etc. and I’m happy for the guidance! Thanks for your comment and question!
@@VikkiReed I do the same thing. I appreciate you sharing your gift.
Magnifique
Thank you!
Beautiful Vikki! What do you do with these prints?
Thank you, Amanda! These prints are made from rice paper and I used them for collaging into mixed media pieces, I have a few videos on that process for which I will provide the links here...if I am making greeting cards, I like the 32 lb. 12:12p. These are gorgeous! This is my first time seeing the process. Do you trim and frame these as they are or is there some other process for using them?
Thank you! You can simply mount them to panel, or what I usually do is tear them up for collage in mixed media pieces. I have videos on both, and one that features some of each! amazing!
Thank you, Denise!
This is much better!!!
thank you?
Thanks for the great video! For the record i would put the "ping pong paddles" in the top two.
Thank you, I love that…I tend to be hypercritical of my own results…
Please leave it normal in the settings there are options to speed up or slow down the videos
Thank you so much, I appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback!
How do you mount and frame these images? Do you sell your work? I’d love to see how you present your work
Hi, thank you for your questions! Here is one video showing how to mount gelli prints directly to panel “Adding Gelli Plate Dragonfly Art to Wood Panel” th-cam.com/video/IWM_WTl6vUk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=K4DdiX8ecS54tZIX and there are many other ways to use the gelli prints...primarily I use them as collage in mixed media artwork, or turn them into greeting cards, I am happy to provide the links to videos on those subjects as well!
Hi Vikki can you transfer the prints to a canvas?
@VikkiReed thank you. I appreciate your reply x
