Oh or a very shit horror film that relies purely on shock value or jump scares. Can't forget those ones.
I don’t care what anyone says, Tarantino can act. This scene proves it. The look in his eyes and how he acts like he just accidentally killed a pet rat and is worried his mom found out when in reality he raped and killed a human being. Amazing acting here.
@@lardosian that's most memorable cause it's most popular among masses. Even if it hadn’t turned into a great horror film it was really good as a crime film. I must admit I’m glad that Seth never felt too cut up about his brothers death. He knew it’d happen eventually.
A scene which involves a man confronting his brother about his tendencies to assault women, and the whole time I'm thinking, "Fuck, I could really go for burger" that's me every time I watch this
The way the reveal is shot is perfect because it never cuts away from Seth, so we get to watch his response and feel the energy turn in the room. Also love how the freeze frames make you believe you won’t see the bloody scene, only to get a reveal moments later - but it’s perfect again because the shot is actually focused on the new drama between the brothers.
Another fucked up part is that Richie attempted to blame the woman. "When you left, she became a completely different person.". As if Seth was gonna just straight up believe his bullshit. Seth never believes Richie's bullshit but puts up with him because that's his brother. Seth knowing how vile and sick his brother is, still left him alone to look after the woman. But had somewhat a little hope that his brother wouldn't hurt her because he even brought back food for the woman. Angry that Richie killed this woman he promised would live, Angry that he left Richie alone with her and angry at himself for being careless.

Clooney owned this role. He went on, for good reason, to become a highly distinguished actor in some very serious roles. Yet, this is one of my favorite and most memorable roles he ever did, because he shined throughout. Great movie, underrated.
When you realise batman and robin was supposed to be a live action cartoon, aimed at kids, with a self aware cheese like in the 60s tv show. Batman and robin was good for what is was.
This scene was the most disturbing and scary. 1:03 that's the best acting in the whole movie. Seth's reaction...trying to understand _why_ his brother would do such a thing. The way he so calmly and softly asks him, "Richard, what's wrong with you? What is the _matter with you?"_ Realizing what a monster he is, he blames himself first...it's heartbreaking. 1:43 You can see the reality hitting him right there. Glassy-eyed, some tears coming. And there was so much tension when Richie was eyeballing Kate later in the movie. I was scared for her. Those SHORT snips of the shots of the carnage in that room freaked me out. (I saw this movie when it came out at age 10... lol) But it was something in films that always terrified me more; aftermath. Seeing what happened, rather how it happened is a LOT scarier, which is why Se7en freaked me the fuck out, too.

"Richard, what's wrong with you?" And then that first flash of the body.. My stomach dropped. I fell absolutely in love with this scene in those couple of seconds.
Not really, Seth knocked Ritchie’s burger out his hand during their fight. Ritchie probably ate it. Rape, murder and fighting with your siblings really do work up the old appetite, Or so my priest used to tell me.
The expression on Clooneys face as he fixes his eyes on the murdered woman and the blood everywhere. Seems like some short flash back trauma for him as if it reminded him of an horrible event of his own
One of my favorite scenes in all of cinema, hands down! A straight to the throat, dark look, into the divided beings of those who are evil and those who have morals. George Clooney's character is in no way a good guy within this film, himself is a murderer, crooked and violently hot headed but, then happens this moment. This scene nearly turns your negative impressions of him and shows him as a good guy after all. From first instance of being so confused why his brother is the way he is, seeking for an explanation, you see him slowly reach that boiling point of realizing there is no understanding his brother and just basically grabs him by the horns to say "you're sick, you're wrong, and i'm not like you." IMO the entire scene in itself could spin off clear away from what the movie actually is about and have a potential story of just that subject matter alone, a brother stuck with a monster for a sibling but still, unfortunately his brother.
Let's be real here, Quentin Tarantino is not a good actor. But he does play a convincing sociopath in this movie; he makes Richie out to be arguably a bigger monster than the vampires, and it takes a damn fine performance to do that.
Brian Collins his role in pulp fiction was pretty good... deff a D class actor but he puts himself in small enough rolls usually where it works out fine
I understand that Tarantino's movies are connected but it honestly felt like the first and second half of this movie were 2 different movies. I would like to see the first half become it's own movie entirely. Also, they are referencing Pulp Fiction by placing Big Kahuna burger implying this movie and Pulp Fiction are in the same universe. That being said that means vampires exist in Pulp Fiction
Tarantino's movies are divided in two universes The Real Universe and the Movie Within a Movie Universe This one takes place in the Movie Within a Movie Universe, just like Kill Bill and the Grindhouse Movies Pulp Fiction takes place in the Real Universe just like Reservoir Dogs, Django, Hateful Eight, Inglorious and True Romance
It's satisfying to see Seth teach his brother a lesson. I'm also glad he knocked that burger outta his hands. Richie doesn't even deserve to enjoy the taste of a Big Kahuna Burger
I love this movie, I had the privilege of owning the VHS and just one day slapping it on as a kid not knowing the premise. It was so good and I was shocked how it turned to a vampire flick.
@@jamesclement8985 you’re not naming an alternative so you’re opinion is invalid clown. This is a scene of rage and horror where we don’t even see the whole murder scene yet the look on his face tells us everything we need to know. That’s fucking acting.
One of Clooneys best performances imo. And Tarantino who’s obviously not an actor actually did a decent job at conveying he was a sociopathic killer. His character really was very sick and I think that Seth knew he’d eventually have to put him down in Mexico

Newsflash pal, she’s a 4 at best and her friend a 4.5 and those are TH-cam ratings. In the street when she doesn’t have time to pose for a picture she would get a 3.2
I also love when Richie says, "It's not your fault, its her fault!" Like he is just completely devoid of human emotion and reality and how he makes light of the fact that he just raped and murdered someone, like he spilled a cup of coffee on the floor and has no paper towels to clean it up is a true testament to QT's acting chops and having met QT in person and saying to him that Richie was one of my favorite characters and his reaction and then his other reaction shows the true genius of how his mind works both on and off set.
Even us, the humans, through our meanest and cruelest actions, are, and can be, more scarier than vampires, werewolves, zombies and the scariest creatures. When we do those type of things to people, we come to realize that we are the real monsters lurking.
Well no duh humans are the smartest aninal on the planet we use it for human development but also human destruction we are not good or bad we are jusr humans.also lots of animals are cruel to there victims in fact way more than people used to think as someone who atudied bugs some wasps are reallt really cruel lets just say they torture there victims
It kinda pisses me off that Richie is the first one to get killed off by vampires. You'd think a murderous psychopath would find some creative ways to kill some vampire demons.
this movie seemed so awesome before the vampire crap. really chilling, a quiet, pensive, no country for old men vibe and a very compelling set-up and characters. the sudden change into a chaotic shoot 'em up was just an abrupt end to everything being built up. in another movie it would be fun, but here, with the potential set up, it was just frustrating
Quentin has mostly delivered semi-decent performances in his films, but here he truly shines. Not sure whether we should be worried about how convincing he’s delivering such a profoundly disturbed character, but oh well. Come to think of it, if Quentin would’ve done a U.S. remake of Man Bites Dog, he’d be the perfect Benoît. Oh right, and Clooney’s great acting is probably one of the reasons why Quentin is so great here.
Way the design of the inner motel looks like it’s set in the mid to late 70’s. When George walks into the bedroom staring theirs like a trama over him like a past trama flashback he’s experiencing
even though the movie became a cult classic, and i liked the turn it took and how over the top it went, i was really invested into their relationship and wouldve loved to see a serious movie about clooney and tarantino being brothers, and while clooney tries to turn their situation to the better, tarantino keeps doing this crazy stuff and ruins it for his brother, who cant reject him though since hes loyal to him.
Tarantino often gets criticism for installing himself in his films because he isn’t a good actor but to Quentin’s credit he plays an absolutely terrifying psychopath. His impulsiveness and total disregard for human life make him more terrifying than the likes of Gordon Gecko, John Doe in Seven, Lou Bloom in Nightcrawler and maybe even more so than the Joker in The Dark Knight.
I still love the structure of this movie. No hint or whisper whatsoever of vampires till it just smacks you suddenly. It feels very much like Tarantino mostly had his hands on the first half and Rodriguez just had a bloody fun time with the second half.
Actually, you're spot on. It's definitely a collaboration between the two. Would love to see them team up at least one more time before Tarantino hangs it up for good.
I remember I was about 12 and I’d just discovered Tarantino. He was my favourite filmmaker and I was absorbing everything he made, but I stumbled on this on TV one night. A crime horror by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, with George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, Cheech Marin, Danny Trejo, Salma Hayek. How tf had I never heard of it. Amazing little gem
All these comments on how the first half is brilliant. True, but so is the second hald. I can't believe what im reading. Yes, it is a different tone, but it was awesome. These vamps have a system of setting up people for their feast, and it's great. The cast just starts dying off like nothing. First time I watched, didn't expect the main cast to just die so suddenly. My favorite vampire movie.
This is still to this day my favorite Clooney role. Not his best movie by any means, but his best character and acting within that character. Best scene of the movie. In fact, the first half of the movie is way better than the second half, in my opinion.
I really enjoy watching characters like Seth. He’s clearly a bad guy who’s not above getting his hands dirty. But you can still see where some of his more redeeming qualities lie. But unfortunately, in order to better highlight this to the audience….there often needs to be a truly awful and downright evil SOB like Richie to be compared to…
FilthyManatee Lenny wasn’t a rapist though. And Tarantino’s character knew what he was doing was wrong. He’s a rapist and a murderer. Lenny was just slow.
Difference is Lenny never raped anyone & whenever he killed was an accident because he can't control his strength Also he didn't have to recieve a painful death
Clooney knocked that scene out of the park. Wow. Q.T. was great here too, strange he never really acts this well again but it proves he has the makings of a decent actor.
Seriously one George Clooney’s best scenes. His shock and disgust is completely indistinguishable from reality. So authentic.

I completely thought it was just a crime film, a really well done one, but just a crime film nonetheless.
If nothing else it's unique and that's something worth admiring in a time when pretty much every film that comes out is a remake of a classic, or a superhero film, or a romcom. Oh or a very shit horror film that relies purely on shock value or jump scares. Can't forget those ones.
The whole damn movie is perfection. The fact that it's two different films in one is a huge part of its greatness.
I don’t care what anyone says, Tarantino can act. This scene proves it. The look in his eyes and how he acts like he just accidentally killed a pet rat and is worried his mom found out when in reality he raped and killed a human being. Amazing acting here.
That's the look he has in his eyes for most events... lol
His performance in "Pulp Fiction" was however good for a Razzie-award
He's just being himself.
Yeah Tarantino is actually scary in this film.
The only reason he asked Robert to give him this role was so that he could shove Salma's foot in his mouth.
This is honestly the most disturbing scene of the entire film. Its the scene I remember the most to this day!
The most memorable for me goes to Salma in that outfit!
that's interesting. it's been many years since i saw the movie, but i had totally forgotten this scene until just now.
Really? I thought the saloon vampire band playing with instruments made up of dead people was pretty memorable.
2nd only to Salma Hayek stripping. Talking about the scene we remember most to this day not the disturbing part lol
@@lardosian that's most memorable cause it's most popular among masses. It's a crazy good&hot dance by Salma, however this scene right here beats it, in the way of acting, screenwriting, frame/shots, dialogue, and everything. It's just not popular cause it's kinda disgusting, and people want fun, not something they can't digest, like most can't digest this.

These brothers represent two different types of criminals.
they're both pieces of shit
True,
but Seth is definitely the lesser of two evils.
Jose yeah because richard is a nut
Yeah they Seth says "you are dealing with a couple of mean Motor Scooters" when they're all in the RV and I've always wondered what he meant by "motor scooters"
Richie is crazy while seth is a cooler criminal
I love Clooneys acting in this scene, it's really just phenomenonal. I love it when he says " Is it my fault, do you think this is what I am
Even if it hadn’t turned into a great horror film it was really good as a crime film.
I must admit I’m glad that Seth never felt too cut up about his brothers death. He knew it’d happen eventually.
Richie was a truly disturbed character. Quentin Tarantino is a genius.
big kahuna burger always looks delicious 😻
They really do.
A scene which involves a man confronting his brother about his tendencies to assault women, and the whole time I'm thinking, "Fuck, I could really go for burger" that's me every time I watch this
@Ben N.- asks the boys, there's a extra one on the table now.
That's the Hawaiian burger joint, I hear they got some tasty burgers
Ahhhh hamburgers the cornerstone to every nutriecent breakfast
The way the reveal is shot is perfect because it never cuts away from Seth, so we get to watch his response and feel the energy turn in the room.
Also love how the freeze frames make you believe you won’t see the bloody scene, only to get a reveal moments later - but it’s perfect again because the shot is actually focused on the new drama between the brothers.
I rememer seeing this in theaters opening night back in the day and the audience's reaction was incredible...
This unified gasp then complete silence,
Another fucked up part is that Richie attempted to blame the woman.
This part of this movie effected me mentally and it's too much that i needed to take medicine. After a decade it still active into my mind, as an adult i still can't get over of it. i broke all glasses today.

Clooney owned this role. He went on, for good reason, to become a highly distinguished actor in some very serious roles. Yet, this is one of my favorite and most memorable roles he ever did, because he shined throughout. Great movie, underrated.
I can forgive Clooney for batman because of this movie
Re-watch Batman & Robin, and allow the blame to wash over you once more. THE ICE-MAN...COMETH!

3 minutes. And these characters are more fleshed out than a lot of entire films, like them or not, its brilliant.
Why did Clooney give me that Scarface vibe throughout this movie ?
Goĸυ вʟacĸ l̸ Seth Gecko would eat scarface. 😉
Goĸυ вʟacĸ l̸ He was waaay more controlled. He'd have probably smoothed things out with Sosa
Despite being a sleazy drug lord, Tony was against killing women and children.

And then that first flash of the body.. My stomach dropped. I fell absolutely in love with this scene in those couple of seconds.
At least they have an extra burger.
Ya that burger looks to good to waste on a big liability...🙊🍔
God you win the Internet for me personally Gooey Bear!
Yep. It was for the hostage they kidnapped. Goes to show how Seth even has his compassionate side for such a hardened criminal.
Not really, Seth knocked Ritchie’s burger out his hand during their fight.
Ritchie probably ate it.
Rape, murder and fighting with your siblings really do work up the old appetite, Or so my priest used to tell me.
lol
The expression on Clooneys face as he fixes his eyes on the murdered woman and the blood everywhere. Seems like some short flash back trauma for him as if it reminded him of an horrible event of his own
I think seth and rich had a rough childhood.
Simone Schwanitz yea I think so too
@@simoneschwanitz1273 but Ritchie probably got the worse of it while Seth still kept some of his humanity.
Tarantino gives his best performance as Richie in this film... He just needs Rodriguez to direct his acting, lol
agree.
i disliked his acting in pulp fiction. but here he does Act and he does it good.
Or he just needs to play more sociopaths. He’s an eccentric person so he fits the role perfectly

Let's be real here, Quentin Tarantino is not a good actor. But he does play a convincing sociopath in this movie; he makes Richie out to be arguably a bigger monster than the vampires, and it takes a damn fine performance to do that.
He’s ok. Really good at emoting with his voice, not so much his face.
This is definitely his best performance and I think thats because Richie is meant to be an oddball and quite awkward.
thats because he already look like a sociopath

Brian Collins his role in pulp fiction was pretty good... deff a D class actor but he puts himself in small enough rolls usually where it works out fine
I understand that Tarantino's movies are connected but it honestly felt like the first and second half of this movie were 2 different movies. I would like to see the first half become it's own movie entirely. Also, they are referencing Pulp Fiction by placing Big Kahuna burger implying this movie and Pulp Fiction are in the same universe. That being said that means vampires exist in Pulp Fiction
Also the cop exists in the kill bill universe
Quentin wrote the first half, I think up until the bar, after that its very clearly Rodriguez.
they are equally badass
Tarantino's movies are divided in two universes
The Real Universe and the Movie Within a Movie Universe
This one takes place in the Movie Within a Movie Universe, just like Kill Bill and the Grindhouse Movies
Pulp Fiction takes place in the Real Universe just like Reservoir Dogs, Django, Hateful Eight, Inglorious and True Romance
No thats not true dumbass,if one film has mcdonalds that doesnt mean its related to another film that has mcdonalds in it.
It's satisfying to see Seth teach his brother a lesson. I'm also glad he knocked that burger outta his hands. Richie doesn't even deserve to enjoy the taste of a Big Kahuna Burger
If Richie wasn't his brother, Seth would've definitely killed him
I love this movie, I had the privilege of owning the VHS and just one day slapping it on as a kid not knowing the premise. It was so good and I was shocked how it turned to a vampire flick.
Same. And same with Desperado.
That's Rodriguez's insanity right there

Like he is just completely devoid of human emotion and reality and how he makes light of the fact that he just raped and murdered someone, like he spilled a cup of coffee on the floor and has no paper towels to clean it up is a true testament to QT's acting chops and having met QT in person and saying to him that Richie was one of my favorite characters and his reaction and then his other reaction shows the true genius of how his mind works both on and off set.
Even us, the humans, through our meanest and cruelest actions, are, and can be, more scarier than vampires, werewolves, zombies and the scariest creatures. When we do those type of things to people, we come to realize that we are the real monsters lurking.

Quentin has mostly delivered semi-decent performances in his films, but here he truly shines. even though the movie became a cult classic, and i liked the turn it took and how over the top it went, i was really invested into their relationship and wouldve loved to see a serious movie about clooney and tarantino being brothers, and while clooney tries to turn their situation to the better, tarantino keeps doing this crazy stuff and ruins it for his brother, who cant reject him though since hes loyal to him.

All these comments on how the first half is brilliant. True, but so is the second hald. I can't believe what im reading. Yes, it is a different tone, but it was awesome. This is still to this day my favorite Clooney role. Not his best movie by any means, but his best character and acting within that character. Best scene of the movie. In fact, the first half of the movie is way better than the second half, in my opinion.
Late to this but totally agree. This role as Seth Gecko will always be my favorite role of his.
This movie didn’t deserve Clooney at his best
He brought it up to such a high level with his performance
I really enjoy watching characters like Seth. He’s clearly a bad guy who’s not above getting his hands dirty. But you can still see where some of his more redeeming qualities lie. But unfortunately, in order to better highlight this to the audience….there often needs to be a truly awful and downright evil SOB like Richie to be compared to…
Outstanding from Clooney in this movie....from ER to this is unbelievable....in my opinion this is still his best acting performance
I am well aware of how different this is, but for some reason these two remind of of George and Lenny from Of Mice and Men
