I’m a few months out from having my own place after more than 10 years with roommates. While I’m quite intimidated carrying the financial burden on my own due to past debts, I’m so excited to have my own space, decorate it, and live all on my own terms again! It’s such a good feeling!

2 hacks for not clean - not dirty clothes. I have an over the door robe hangar with 5 hooks for my top 5 picks and a small clothes basket in my closet that is only for the in-between clothes for anything else. The over the robe hangar is also on the closet door so everything is essentially still in the closet so it doesn't split the "get ready" clothes zones.

Pro tip from an Irish girl... if Flahavan's porridge oats are available over there in NYC, get them. They are an absolute staple here in Ireland and are so creamy even when made with water. If there's one thing we do well here, it is porridge!

I have a dedicated "not-dirty-but-not-clean" hamper I slide under my bed. I keep my pajamas and other clothes I've worn but would wear again in there or things that I want to be able to wear until it's time to wash them (like hoodies). Then when I do laundry, I check that basket and grab anything out that I think could be ready to be washed :)

Hey, Chelsea! : ). If I only wore my clothes once and they're not dirty yet, I hang my jeans back up & I have a "collapsed" hanger with multiple hang spots where I just let my tank tops go till I wear them again. If I've only worn a "blouse" once, I just hang it back up. Everything else goes in to my hamper to be washed. Also, I have a lid on my hamper, so I find that I like to put my pjs on there & my shorts that I wear around the house. That's how I do it & no clothing has been left on the floor... : )

    A. Crispix is a top tier cereal! And B. I have a separate bin for “clean-ish” clothes. I know other comments have said to get in the habit of folding it or putting it back in the drawer, but I know myself, and it’s easier to have a place to just toss it that isn’t the floor, the bed, or a chair. It helps things stay neater with minimal effort.

Concerning the clothes I only wore once: I bought a valet stand a while ago. It still looks messy from time to time, depending on the amount of clothes I throw on there, but it's still way tidier than before. Plus: this is a place where clothes are supposed to be, so in my mind I'm really just organising things very well.

For not clean/not dirty stuff, I have what I call a “rotations” basket in my room. I keep all the stuff still in the rotation there. I fold the big stuff and toss little things in there. about the clothes, if you plan on wearing it again and its not gross or hard to wash, just hang it back up and make a habit of it. if your not going to fold it back up, just throw it in the wash. you'll ultimately just wash it anyway. ive pushed myself to make that a habit and no more clothes on the floor

100% that's basically. i heard someone say once, "don't handle things twice" and they meant like deal with things immediately to avoid having to deal with them in the future and that's helped me out so much from clutter ever building up again. like if you see not handling things twice as non negotiable, it's a game changer.

Hi Chelsea yes clothes off floor I do have a solution. This took me years to figure out so I am no organizational whiz. 1sr, when I pull an item to wear, I move the hanger away, keeping all the empty ones together. When taking off an item not soiled, I hang it up as soon as I take it off and put it in a separate section of the closet. This way when I get dressed again I always know which clothes have been worn, which are clean and there are no empty hangers mixed in with the clothes. It doesn’t seem like much but it has made a big difference in reducing stress not seeing clothes everywhere.

here's my rant about clothes, if they're not clean enough to put back in your closet, then they go in the laundry basket. can't be having extra spots for clothes that nobody has room for and also i can't stand the messiness.
that being said - BUUUUUTTTT - i do have a bar i installed next to my closet (like a towel rack bar) that i use to set up my outfit for the next day, if i just want something to air out for a bit, i'll hang it there over night or for the day and then put it back in the closet.

My "worn it once" hack: when i put away a clean shirt, I will hang it normally. If I wear it and deem it wearable again, I put it back on the hanger but I flip the hanger so the hook faces me rather than the closet wall. Some people don't like the inconsistency of the hooks going this way and that way on the clothing rod, but it's the only method I've found that's better than "the chair"
Hopefully I explained it in a sensible manner 🙃

About keeping clothes off the floor....what's worked for me is getting a coat/stand rack for the bedroom, it sounds weird but it takes 2 seconds to put worn clothes there to "air out" and I'm more tempted to wear them again knowing they weren't on the floor

A tip that has worked for me on the lightly worn clothes: I have a small basket/storage (it fits in one of those cube shelves) that I put my "worn once or twice" items. To keep it from building up too bad, I will check there first for my next outfit.
As for productivity thoughts: right now I am working 2 jobs so I tend to pack my free-time super full, but then I don't feel recharged. So I have been trying to allow myself to do literally nothing. Especially outside. I try whenever possible to just sit on my front porch and breathe for a few minutes.
I love your videos, they are so thoughtful and are really relaxing.

Great video and great sponsored ad as always...I bought hooks that go over my bedroom door and use those to hang up clothes I don't consider dirty and will wear again before laundering. It works great and they stay off the floor and off chairs!

I hang my not-quite-dirty clothes in the front of my closet. I’ll also just drape them over a bench I have at the foot of my bed (but try not to pile them up too high!)

Use the marshmallow to make a peanut butter fluff sandwhich! Ate them all the time as a child. Might even be good for a run!

I have a chair in my room where I put my clothes that I can wear again. Sometimes I fold them. Sometimes I don’t.

I hang pjs and loungewear that I am going to wear again on hooks that I have on the back of my bedroom door. I don’t wear them more than twice though ☺️ xxx

Much bigger to wash pillows, duves and multiple throw blankets. I kinda regret starting with the 1.6.... 💚

Ah, Chelsea Dear. You are such a soothing presence and a source of many giggles for me. And I did need the break from exhausting productivity! (“Capitalism is exhausting.” Should be on a t-shirt!) ❤️ So much luck with the job hunting and half marathon training! You know, every time I see your cozy home (yes, lived-in and all!) I relax like I’m at home there too. Thanks for making us all feel so welcome in your sweet world! Clink, clink! ☕️❤️☕️
