One of the features of the PS2 version that weren't included anywhere else is the ability to store any vehicle you wanted at your base. When I played the X360 version a few years later I almost broke my controller when I realized I couldn't save a unique super car or something that had taken me 30 minutes to get to my base without blowing up. Not to mention that they also included logistics personnel in factions. War games always show soldiers but they almost never show figures such as medics, something that was very present in mercenaries 2

Dude this game was so much fun. Endless hours of fun for me. I never got tired of all the side missions, I loved all the cars and different gadgets you could use. The hideout was so cool and I loved doing EVERY SINGLE THING.
Just bought this game again after I just started thinking about it out of nowhere. It’s been years since I last played it, but can’t wait to do it again. I love rolling into a big city occupied by the VZ and leveling the whole city while they are trying to take you out, to no avail.

Sad, that PC players didn't got an updates and DLCs for Mercenaries 2 (well, not a new thing with Pandemic Studios games, Battlefront 2 had the same problem).
Had this on my shelf for a couple years; found it at a thrift shop. Decided to run through it since the online is going down in November and wanted to complete all of the achievements before it goes offline. I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Glad I played it before it got unobtainable achievements or else, I would have never decided to play it.
I miss this game so much, I bought a copy of it on disc for PC a while back but don't have a disc drive for it on my new laptop. Wish there was a easy way of getting hold of it nowadays, a remaster or rerelease of this game would be amazing, with the great DLC (that I think only released on console) included.
Now, combine the destruction from Red Faction Guerilla and Armageddon into a game with a faction system like Mercenaries 2 and you have the perfect open world game. But for the love of god make buildings respawn. The worst part of Guerilla was they gave us an amazing sandbox to play with. Exactly once. Before you have to start a new game just to get more destructible buildings.
I remember starting a mission where you’d have to call in reinforcements to take a base but if you never did the mission you could call in infinite reinforcements I would start my own miny npc battles all through the map soooo fun
As a 14-year-old in 2008 who could only afford maybe 2 new games per year (and also someone who was hype af for Mercs 2 after nearly 2 years of delays), the Mercs 2 we got was about 5% of what Pandemic had promised. It was the first game I ever recall requiring a day-one patch, which was virtually unheard of back then. I mean, it not only killed the Mercs cult fanbase, but evidently also Pandemic Studios altogether. Articles from EGM back in 2006-2007 advertised a Mercs 2 more akin to Far Cry 2. What we got in 2008 was more akin to a GTA ripoff produced by Happy Madison.
I absolutely loved this game first game I played when I was 6 I still turn on my old ps3 and play it I’m 15 btw also I didn’t play on release I played it 7 years after realease because well I wasn’t born until 09
An issue I always had is I always wished there was a way to reset all the destruction I have caused as seeing an entire town or city leveled can be fun its also just would be more fun to be allowed to do it again if I wanted to
You can literally call your drunk pilot to drop nuclear bunker-busters whenever you please. This game is completely unmatched in terms of style and destructive gameplay. So, so many good memories playing this. The cancellation of the 3rd game was a punch in the gut.

I’m 28 now , this was a great game, bring me back to my child hood lol.
What we got in 2008 was more akin to a GTA ripoff produced by Happy Madison.
best game ever i remember playing it when i was 8-9 shit was so memorable
Playing it on PC 14 years after, still a banger lol
I talk of this game with my brother often. One of the best.
fun fact on the PS2 version of Mercenaries 2 you can store vehicles into the garage in your base, while on PS3 it's a different story
8:55 You made me remember the time i spent 4 hours farming 1 billion in the Winching Challenge
Thank you bro for making this video i love mercenarie 2 i feel it get to much hate by mer 1 fans .
I absolutely loved this game first game I played when I was 6 I still turn on my old ps3 and play it I’m 15 btw also I didn’t play on release I played it 7 years after realease because well I wasn’t born until 09
Broooo. I still have my ps3 but I lost this game and I miss it so much. I GENUINELY liked the game more than GTA 5
Mercenaries was allot better than Mercenaries 2 but i like both of them.
I can't believe you haven't mentioned the best theme song recorded for a game.
My best memory was me always using the chopper with the grappling hook on the bottom and would fly around with cars attached lmao
I'll never get rid of my copies of one and two, these games are still crazy fun.
It was super cool to stack up your money and artillery to see it all pile up in the mansion.
An issue I always had is I always wished there was a way to reset all the destruction I have caused as seeing an entire town or city leveled can be fun its also just would be more fun to be allowed to do it again if I wanted to
Mercenaries 2 on Ps2!!!! Yes!!!!! I remember begging my mom to buy me that game. A true classic.
Mercenaries 2 was hundred times better than Just Cause franchise . EA should bring back Mercenaries series with online multiplayer feature .
I remember Mercenaries but I have never heard of Mercenaries 2.
You can literally call your drunk pilot to drop nuclear bunker-busters whenever you please. This game is completely unmatched in terms of style and destructive gameplay. So, so many good memories playing this. The cancellation of the 3rd game was a punch in the gut.
