okay, I have one question for you do you want 1 good game in 10 years or 20 above-average games? because that's what Ubisoft is going for they make a large number of games because it sells and all industries are after money valhalla sold 20 million copies and rdr2 50 million yeah there is a 30 mill difference but they made that from other games so I don't blame companies going for this strategy but I think Ubisoft should only make 1 game from their franchise after 3-year gaps that's the only comeback for them
i agree on all you said pretty much in this video i haven't played a ubisoft game since ac origins and i did not even like that game but ancient egypt was really cool and well made tho but that is about it all their games are soulless !
You say "Mediocracy" multiple times but every time it would make way more sense to say "Mediocrity." Mediocracy would be a way to describe a system of government or rule.
It’s ironic that after Farcry 3 with Vaas literally saying the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over again. Only for UBISOFT to do that for all of the their premier gaming series.
Actually, he said it means doin the same AND expecting different results Which would mean they actually took the advice to heart, cause FC3 had very positive results Of course the problem is, thats not how it works, doing the same all over again and expecting same results just doesnt work either
I love AC4's story honestly, Edward losing all of his friends little by little and maturing over it is honestly pretty captivating, and that ending scene with him going down the hill, seeing his dead friends on the table while the girl sings, and giving the flower to his daughter is one of the best endings in a game for me.
Ya know something you probably won't believe me but I still play it today, I've been finding community chests of late and royal convoys lol. I agree about the story it's one of the best endings to a game, very sad and heart warming. I rate ACBF as the best in the franchise but that's just my own opinion, others say 1 and others say Brotherhood. I rate Black Flags ending as being one of the saddest right up there with John Marston meeting his end in Red Dead Redemption which if I remember correctly was nominated for the saddest ending to a game character that year or something. There's not a lot I ain't done in Black Flag, I've never bothered with the DLCs like Edwards rare swords and stuff, I'm 83rd most feared pirates (no biggie) but still it's a game I can play again and again and still get enjoyment outta it. It's a shame that all AC titles didn't have the same impact on people, on the contrary a lot of gamers have hate for Ubisoft and their games for reasons like they are all the same, buggy and glitchy, etc etc I've heard much hate. It is buggy and glitchy but I still enjoyed it and still do.
@@returnedtomonkey8886 yeah I think it is probably the best feature of the game the naval battles and sailing, I think it is a shame that they never made it possible to be able to sail against each other in battles pvp, or did they? Someone told me that you can't do anything like that but I'm not sure. I've played online and stuff I'm currently online now but it's just the assassins stuff I've done, ya know...chasing contracts in certain locations and using the sensor to locate targets and stuff, not done that Wolf pack stuff so maybe you can battle each other on ships and I just ain't seen it. Either way I still like the game even if it's just the campaign single player. I've just unlocked those Scottish broard swords yesterday actually, apart from the Edwards family swords or whatever which are dlc I only need 2 costumes and I will be done collecting, it's good for a mess about I suppose lol. Anyway pal you go careful and stay safe......Happy Gaming for the future and hope you are owning it. Peace.
Well, that would be true if they expected change when they just wanted the same success of Far cry 3 by copying it. It’s more like they thought they could do the same thing forever and never change.
What's killing Ubisoft for me are the giant open worlds with overwhelming amount of the same tasks. Padding games this way is a shitty way to lengthen them.
Exactly, I liked playing far cry games but this makes me reluctant to get into assassins creed or watch dogs because I always hear about useless identical side tasks...
luckily i completed Black Flag on switch. currently playing ac Valhalla on pc. although its far from the OG AC formula. i do love open world rpg in general so i don’t have any complain
@@thegundamster1204 I stopped playing Origins because of this. I bought Origins and Odyssey when they first came out - I was backlogged on games but got them both during holiday sales. I was telling a buddy that if I ever beat Origins, then that'll probably be the last AC game I play unless they make the open world smaller/less padded. So it's looking like Odyssey is going to be staying in the plastic wrapper. It's crazy because it was pretty high on my list of favorite franchises, now I just groan when I hear any news about expansions/new games in it.
If somebody asked me about my feelings on Ubisoft back in 2012-2013 i would’ve said that they’re one of my favourite developers. It’s really sad to see how much downhill they went.
The funny thing is, it still applies, The Gaming industry rewards mediocracy and they CONTINUE to be the KINGS of being rewarded for it. Gaming journalists hype every game they release.
The problem was the original director who actually made the Assassin's Creed franchise was fired by Ubisoft for insisting that Assassin's Creed end after Brotherhood so he can do a new franchise Ubisoft couldn't take the idea of losing a big franchise like this so they fired him
I'm glad I've stuck to fighting games over the years. Every single big franchise (Tekken, Guilty Gear etc.) is still fresh and unique. Too bad the wider gaming community don't play them.
@@pykamirulol ive playd some fighting games mainly mk11 and tekken 6 and they are really good games i think the reason why a lot of people don't check them out is cause of the controls

@Vanilla Gorilla I think it's great for people who've never played GG before, like myself. I played Strive first maybe summer last year, but then I bought XXAC^R and REV2 and realise how much is actually missing in strive. I main Sol, and I just prefer how he is in the older games. So much more sauce.
@@Moonbeam92 I heard Ubisoft (or the UI designer from Ubisoft) said that Elden Ring is suck, and everyone who hears that says Ubisoft is just jealous of FromSoftware success with Elden Ring. *note: correct me if I’m wrong*
@@Gio-mi3hd To be fair, the UI in fromsoft souls-likes is kinda meh, and even tho ER has the best one by far, it still has some problems. World design tho? Shit's almost perfect, calling it average or bad is just plain jealousy, specially if someone from the AAA open world sector says so.
Really great video, honestly. It just kept bugging me that "mediocricy" is not a word. It's mediocrity. Idk it just kept bothering me. But I love the content sincerely and the video was great
Mediocracy - a dominant class consisting of mediocre people, or a system in which mediocrity is rewarded. Using mediocrity probably makes more sense though
It is a word but not in the context of gaming. It’s more a form of rule or governance. I’m so glad it wasn’t just me who was getting bugged by that, lol. Edit: Mediocracy is what he said ☝🏻.
The misuse of mediocracy rather than mediocrity made me put this video off. Video essayists who think they are very clever but make basic English mistakes are a scurge upon this Earth.
Its painfully obvious for the later ACs they looked at Skyrim's sales and then proceeded to clone it, with elements of W3 (and later BoTW) mixed in, with little regard for originality or effort as long as its marketable and grindy, finally someone speaking the truth, so many shills still call Ubisoft games masterpieces. (and they're heavily diluting the open world genre down to list simulators)
If your employers feel bad, there is no inspiration. Beside this, at ubisoft management thinks it can give leadership the old american way, but the american way is destroying business nowadays.
@@eventhorizon2873 Yep, we need to hold executives to the highest of standards as far as I'm concerned (and pay them less), most of them are already set for life so i think an instant firing without any compensation (aside from stocks but not much can be done there) should be the norm for this thing. Really, Yves Gillemot is almost as bad as the most hated person in the industry himself as far as I'm concerned, and it being a family company is no excuse. But that's raw capitalism for ya, the rich shift the burden onto everyone else.
I remember feeling so heart broken how they slowly killed AC's story when I was invested in Desmond and Ezio. I literally felt how it stopped making sense so they could go forever and make money...
I agree unity didn’t release in the best state and that was mediocre, however there is a lot more to the game that I don’t feel is recognized just because of the user ratings. Co op stealth, the aesthetic, truly being able to blend into a crowd. The stealth set ups can be pretty challenging and fun especially with a friend.
i lowkey think that, as of today, ac unity is actually one of the best games in the series when it comes to the gameplay and the world. sure, the story was wack, and the missions were kinda boring, and the microtransactions were shit, but i'll be damned if the combat and the parkour didn't feel great in unity, i also felt that they nailed the atmosphere of the french revolution, it legitimately felt jarring to come out of a fetch quest into a world were you could note people protesting, fighting, begging for food, etc, there was so much going on in the world that it added to the "blend into the crowd thing" you mentioned, too, like that time i straight out killed the guy in notre dame in front of everyone only to run into the crowd and instantly escape, because there was no way they'd find one guy in the middle of a protest that wanted you dead anyways. shame it was bogged down by the storyline, the bugs, and the fact it was an other ac game, they should've spent an other year on it tbh.
@@legoEgoJJproduction really? I really liked syndicate and rogue. Syndicate in particular I played yrs after it's initial release and its controversy but it didn't deserve the treatment it got imo, there's a good game in there.

Literally was so forgettable that it was forgotten about lmao. Jokes aside though, I do feel like Rouge was a really interesting AC game as a concept, and did at least try something new with the "assassin gone rouge and is now a templar" but it did feel more like a spin-off reskin of black flag and the assassins and templars just switching roles. But at least it had actual assassins vs templars in it, *compared to some other games*
If I disagree with one thing in this video its that nfts have the potential to revolutionize gaming. No they don't, they'll only tarnish this hobby even more
'Mediocracy' is not the word you are looking for. It wouldn't bug me so much, but you said it so many times. It's mediocrity, or being mediocre, that you want.
and which of that was proven true? innocent until proven guilty, my guy. "people" (and we know which group of people im reffering to) make up such stories all the time to sue money out of rich guys. especially nowadays. sometimes even just to harm their reputation/ruin their life, not even caring about money, but it is mostly about the money. but everyone is Innocent until factually proven guilty. i can make up stories about You harassing me too.
@@DaggerPrince They literally admitted to doing it themselves. Back in 2020 the main director for Assassin's Creed Valhalla left Ubisoft because of his awful sexual harassment towards female employees. Make matters worse, a ton of these disgusting staff members are STILL in the company and Ubisoft has done jack shit to fix anything.
The Rayman dulology shows that they can still make masterpieces, but sadly both games didn’t sell anywhere near as good as your generic AC or Far cry games, if they didn’t sell well we would have had open world games that are on par with RDR 2, Botw and The Witcher 3.
I don't understand why the gaming community is so reluctant to call games bad. You name a few examples of games with bad story, boring, empty world, unimaginative, worse gunplay, worse AI, nothing new added and straight up worse than games that came before. But still refuse to call it a bad game. I understand that this is usually how game reviewers grade games. But I feel the gaming community is much more reluctant to call out bad games than movie reviewers calling out bad movies.
For me, they hit their peak with those smaller UbiArt games back in 2014. I did play other non-mainstream titles they released after, most were good or at least decent, but none have stuck with me like Valiant Hearts, Rayman Legends and Child of Light back in the day.
I wish they still turned out newer UbiArt projects besides Just Dance. Games we're a breath of fresh air. At least they are making another Mario and Rabbits game.
Something I really admire about rockstar and CDPRs open worlds is they’re willing to put really cool shit off the mainline path that many players will never see; conversely with most recent Ubisoft and EA games veering off the beaten path is rarely rewarding
I played Valhalla after a friend kept telling me “it’s the best one since black flag!”. I played it for nearly 7 hours and kept saying “is this it?” Before turning it off and giving him the disc back, it’s bland as fuck and if that’s the best one since black flag then god help them.
I honestly loved Far Cry 5, the AI was just bad enough that it allowed for goofy fun moments with my allies, they never really messed up too bad for me, aside from just not being in the right position sometimes. And I loved the fist combat because when you combined it with the fury drug, you feel like Goku. I kept searching up Far Cry 6 fist combat and got nothing, which lead me to find out that they took out all the melee except the machete. That was really all it took for me to put off playing it lol.
Not to mention FC5 has very good mods on PC that make it way better than 6

Far Cry 5 is some of the most fun I ever had with a videogame. Don't really care if it's badly written, the gameplay is thigh and I prefer books and movies when I want to enjoy a good story
The best thing about modern ubisoft Is literally just the cover/concept art for their games. Their pre-rendered trailers are the coolest non-existent parts of their games.
Wow. Seeing all the COD games like that was sad. You could literally see the point the games became crap and just got progressively worse until they were just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what stuck. This game revolutionised shooters and isn't even mediocre anymore, just absolute garage.
@Eclipze lmao someone clearly didn't play waw and bo1. up until ghosts people genuinely loved the series, most new releases brought new and welcomed features. so many people disagree with u and the games contended with the likes of bf3 for a very valid reason. just because u don't see that or didn't take a liking to the games; that doesn't mean they're bad
@Eclipze "who shoots first wins" is a very simple way of looking at it. take into account positioning and controlling certain areas of the maps, etc. there's a lot more thought that goes into it than just "run and hold rt". sure, plenty of people played that way but in no way was that the entire playerbase
The main issue with Unisoft games is the lack of interesting quests. It's just grinding, pointless grinding doing the same tasks. That's one of the reasons why i never bother finishing most of their games
There's a video i recommend watching it's called ''this is not a farcry 6 review'' by DJ peach cobbler, talks about ubisoft and the game industry as of now, its a very good video that explains the possible dangers of the path ubisoft is taking with this meta gaming and how its a bad bussines.
I had an interview with a Ubisoft Veteran, I think one of the project leaders, not the big bosses, and when I asked if I have a chance at creating my own games, at least under a company, he told me "If you make games, it'll be about the money and not for yourself", like that was demoralizing and it kind of helped me put into perspective the problem with modern gaming, to which I avoid like the plague since 7 or 8 years.
Another horrible thing about Ubisoft Connect is that it's only available in a few countries while Steam is almost available worldwide. I'm from South America and Steam has regional prices, while Ubisoft doesn't and because of that no one in this country is able to buy Ubi games (Ubi charges in USD & our government doesn't let us make transactions in foreign currencies, only in our local currency, that's why Steam is praised in a lot of countries).
Ubisoft games are wide as an ocean but deep as a puddle. Farcry 5 is such a slog of pointless objectives, that even 30 hours into the game I still have not beaten the main story and probably never will because I realized I was having zero fun.
My favorite line from Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation: "And now let us get to the game that must now legally credit the Microsoft search and replace feature as the lead writer." And no I'm going to tell you which game I'm talking about, because it could apply to any of them.
I dont know why far cry 5 wasnt mentioned in this video, in my opinion is it surprisingly good compared to far cry 6 since the protagonist is silent and is also forced to dismantle the cult that trapped him in the region. So overall Ubisoft knows that they have really good ideas but they are either scared of not making profit or they dont know how to execute it.
Massively better. FC 3, 4, and 5 were the zenith of the franchise. 6 is ok, but added stuff nobody cared about ("trans" character storyline, ridiculous weapons and ammo upgrades, extra padding where it wasn't necessary)
For me fc5 is good, better than 6 but still average. But at least its map is not filled with the same copy paste side activities like in 6. I find it less boring
Black Flag was the first to introduce purchasable IGC, alongside mandatory statted combat in the form of naval battles. Every previous game, and also Unity, can be completed with no upgrades if you want only the story content Unity was hated for its bugs, its broken netcode, and its awful framerate. In recent years fans have returned to run it on more powerful hardware to find a very dissonant experience that sometimes breaks apart in your hands and sometimes feels exactly like what an Assassin was always meant to be. If you really want to understand public sentiment, you have to look in different places besides just metacritic, because fanbases splinter into factions that understand different parts of their favorite franchise differently when it changes so much. If you look in the comments section of someone like Swifty Unknown, you'll find a very different story Wildlands has no less than 11 different biomes. Because you can do most sequences in any order, any time you get bored of one biome, you can just switch to a different one Okay... this one's a lot heavier: I think you *want* to hate Far Cry 6. Because I could turn almost every single one of your criticisms back around on the exact game you used to contrast with it: The way Jason topples Vaas' entire smuggling operation instead of confronting him directly. The way Jason prioritizes getting to Vaas over finding his friends. The way Grant has no character development before being used as a plot device that must support the weight of the entire game. The way Jason has perfect FPS handling and brutal, efficient animations as soon as you leave the scripted mission that shows him struggling to fight. Does this make it a bad game? No, I think Far Cry 3 is quite exceptional. But it struggles from the same very difficult issues that many games share in order to support their gameplay. I think if you could get past the mental block that every Ubisoft game must follow the same downward trend that supports your narrative, you'd find a very intriguing tale of found family and corruption, and see the industry for the nuanced, complicated field that it is. That is, when the characters aren't joking around in the face of violent oppression and the AI aren't running around like headless chickens waiting for you to kill them, issues I and many other players have with the game that you failed to mention Connect's currency actually cannot be bought. It can only be earned they completing challenges in any Ubisoft game. Once you complete every challenge for a given game, you'll have to buy another to get more tokens. Many items also come free with a license for another game. This exists to encourage brand loyalty since it isn't actually capable of accepting payment. Once you have one Ubisoft game, it does everything in its power to get you to buy another one
Thanks for the comment! I agree with everything you say and understand all of your points, especially about Far Cry. I still cannot get behind connect however just because of how buggy and annoying to use it is.
Unity is much better than what people say of it. The bugs are a problem, but imagine the irony when I encountered more bugs in Black Flag than Unity. Unity is literally the last AC game that plays like an Assassins Creed game. The combat, parkour and environment, everything let us experience the assassin's fantasy. The only issue with the game was the story which went downhill from the middle and the horrible console launch experience, which is fine when you realise, it was graphically way ahead of its time and puts a lot of today's aaa games to shame. The environment is actually the one of the best in the series. A dense city showcasing the various kinds of economic prosperity, while there is the French Revolution going on. Plus you could enter most of the houses, the rich npcs and interactions. Perfect example of a medium size world, but very rich. The last game which was also marketed with said Assassin's Creed formula. The last AC game which had me hooked just by its virtue of its gameplay, which is a big plus. I continued to play AC Unity because I was living the Assassins Creed dream. I felt like a silent deadly badass. Origins is a good game, but not an AC game in its core. I would have been okay with it if they called it a different game. But at least you play as an Assassin in it. The new games don't count at AC games at all. They are just different games entirely and Ubisoft just slapped the AC name on them to cash on the brand.
I also don't know about whatever this video is referring to when it says Unity "have crates requiring real money to unlock" because I've been playing the game on and off since release and don't remember such a thing ever existed. Helix credits exists yes, but there's no lootbox or any egregious bs mtx in it unlike the later games. Don't really appreciate the video's attitude towards Unity in general, saying Odyssey is "the Unity of the new Assassin's Creed" is downplaying what Unity is trying to do. Odyssey is just more of the same, the most average cookie cutter game that they could made after Origins. Unity on the other hand was ambitious, for one it was nothing like the previous games mechanically and in presentation, it's made on a new "improved" engine that lets thousands of crowds make the world more immersive, it tries to revolutionize the core AC gameplay without making it something that isn't 'Assassin's Creed'. While I won't give too much merit for a failed attempt and admit the game is above average at best, it is fundamentally the exact opposite from Odyssey.
@@subhadeepjasu292 Nope, Arno was a POS that I just could not care at all and he was never an Assassin substantially either. That'd the problem with Unity: Its all style and no substance.
@@memecliparchives2254 for the story, sure. But mechanically it's one of the game with the most substance in it; quick access to 2 of your tools is a massive game changer, classic stealth isn't an afterthought for once in the series, for social stealth you get the massive crowds along with a few social stealth skills (such as disguise and coin throw to start picking coins with a small crowd), combat isn't just the usual "press counter button to win", and lastly the evolutionary parkour down for the sick moves, not having to just go down grabbing ledges risking jumping to your death or missing a ledge. The real problem of Unity is execution and lack of polish. All the ideas it presents sounds amazing *_if_* (big if right here) it all works out (including the story), but what happened is that they blue balled you in the story while having the gall to recognize that they half assed the story pass the tutorial section in the story itself. Arno _could_ have piece information in clever ways to find his targets and make the game as some sort of detective story, but noooooooo he just got magic memory vision for stabbing someone, god that's still ridiculous in a game about magic mind controlling balls. Of course, the gameplay suffer from the obvious all encompassing jank/bug that permeates through every aspect. Once again on paper this could've been the best Assassin's Creed game ever made, if all the mechanics I listed up there just works as intended that is. Although even after acknowledging all it's flaws and issues, I can't help finding this game to be the most fun and engaging Assassin's Creed game that I've ever played (although the old AC pvp multiplayer is also great). PS: I forgot to mention the customization is frikin great as well.
Ok I really didn't appreciate how you told me Far Cry 3 is a great game and then immediately went on to spoil the whole story. A warning would have been nice.
It’s so frustrating that Ubisoft has just given up on their creative talent for safe economic benefit. Really hope they can bring back all of that talent, particularly for Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed.
Still better than Rogue, Unity, Syndicate and Odyssey combined. And if were making comparisons to the Witcher 3, then Horizon Zero Dawn doesn't live up to it as well.
AC 3 was a downgrade compared to AC Brotherhood & Revelations & then it never really recovered as they kept removing core elements & copying other games.
Just imagine for a moment, the wondrous worlds and magical experiences that would exist right now if these slimy corporate developers actually made works of passion instead of falling to the dark side. A good video, regardless.
I remember Ghost Recon Phantoms, it was such a unique experience of a tactical shooter and then they just destroyed the mechanics out of pure stupidity and greed.
Yeah, it's first name was just Ghost Recon Online and we had a blast playing it in a squad with my RL friends. It was always pay to win, which made us angry and we felt like there was a ton of cheaters, but it was still playable and we could win from time to time.
I recently found out how bad Ubisoft is. I went to add $10 to my Ubisoft wallet, but instead of adding the $10 I paid for, it took $10 off my account and I couldn't get a refund because of some "All Wallet Funds are considered final and can't be refunded" bs. I literally got robbed by Ubisoft and tgeir support team can't or won't do anything.
Ubisoft is like the fast food of video game industry. You know there is better stuff out there, but it has just enough to satisfy you. I won't lie, I like to play AC: Odyssey from time to time. Even more than Breath of The Wild, even though I know it's vastly superior than Odyssey.

Most of their games that came put in the last decade have a horrible feeling of "floatyness" like a car jumping off a ramp would bounce if it hit the pavement, or characters just kinda sliding around so that the player doesn't need to put in extra work moving to cover. I've especially noticed this with the Tom Clancy and watchdogs games, with cars being able to climb nearly vertically so you don't have to go get a new one, or effortlessly knocking over wooden telephone poles and stone walls. In Ghost recon, the operators have a tendency to fall into "joss whedon" dialog, with the guy saying "shitballs" sometimes. Gunfire sounds like literal paintball guns, I've used battery powered nailguns louder than the guns in Ubisoft games. It's all so generic and easy to digest that it feels like you aren't even digesting anything at all, shit out a ducks ass kinda slop
It's such a shame that the AC franchise had to be under Ubisoft's belt. Honestly, Origins was kinda cool, but after that, it went fucking downhill. It's obvious that they've looked at other RPG games and thought: "Yea, we need that, BUT, HOW ABOUT we add microtransactions." This is painfully obvious in Valhalla and that's a shame. So, to sum up Ubisoft in a few words: *"So much wasted potential, good concept, utterly wasted opportunity"*
Mediocrity. The word is Mediocrity, not Mediocracy. A Mediocracy woud be a type of government or ruling class (like a Democracy, Autocracy, or Technocracy)
I cant get over the fact that AC3 is considered a bad game, its story was very good and the gameplay was amazing, its on par with ac4 and im tired of pretending it's not
Far cry 5 is lot better than people make it to be. there was some really good side missions. setup of Montana was accurate tho it was bland compared to Rook island, Himalayan but that's just reality. Each member of the seed family had compelling backstory. FC3 has an "one in a million" story from character development perspective but i don't think development is a mandatory avenue of story telling. it helps to grow attachment with characters but it's really not a "must have". Not all good games take that route. FC5 also had good open world elements, those prepper stashes were good puzzles. biggest flaw imo was the difficulty curve. other than that i think FC5 is very enjoyable. now i got a million games to pick from but if i hadn't, i would replay it multiple times like i did with FC3
One really good thing about 6 that wasn’t in 4 or 5 is the fact that the main character has a personality and isn’t just a silent guy for the player to pretend is them
After playing back to back both AC Origins and Odyssey, it was very clear that they tried to emulate The Witcher III's formula without understanding what made this game so awesome. "Blood and Wine" is better that everything Ubisoft ever made in the past 20 years.
Origins is so generic.... Its another Open World RPG with crafting, collectibles and boring side missions. And PREDATORY MICROTRANSACTIONS. Just play Witcher 3 or RDR2, Origins is the same but worse
I honestly disagree so much with the opinion that Origins was better than Odyssey. I had so much fun with the witty Cassandra running through ancient Greece and to me, it was so much better than Origins. Agree with Valhalla being shit tho.
Interesting. My reaction to odyssey and origins was the exact opposite. I actually think that both are bloated and dull but I couldn’t get all the way through origins
What I dont get is the bullet sponge complaints from "RPG players" when playing Odyssey, if you are casual then I understand the frustration on killing a higher level enemy but if they have background in RPG's, all they need to do is learn the mechanics of the combat and the game is pretty much over, combat in odyssey is way easier compare to other RPG games. Makes you think if they really played the game.
I play all my games offline .. And as a gamer like that i honestly dont get all the ubisoft hate ... They make large games with beutiful graphics and fun gameplay ... Thats all i want from a company and let it be playable offline .. I like Ubisoft
The more thing that this company is worse is owning Growtopia. This company doesn't give a crap with this game and slowly destroys this game, by adding outrageous microtransaction and at the worst point, trading system (accompanied by their community also). Ubisoft has turned growtopia into a deep hell of criminal and toxic gaming experience. And they DONT EVEN care with it. They just milk Growtopia until this game dies badly. They don't listen to community, they have absolute zero responsibilities to the community. They add many thing to the game for money, but don't even try to fix the game bugs or ban any bad guys on there. They instead do false ban to anyone who doesn't do bad things. The community is the same. Hackers, auto-farmers, gambler, toxic player, broadcast misuser, racist, scammer, black marketing seller, and even more bad things that must be not invented in this game.
AC2 was great. I was looking forward to AC3, but aside from a cool plot twist with Templar/Assassin swap in the beginning, the story and execution felt underwhelming. For example, Connor's training and growing up, as well as him actually becoming good at assassin's skills, DOES NOT EVEN GET A MONTAGE. Horizon: Zero Dawn later showed how to do this right, meanwhile in AC3 you just fade to black, and then you are told that our guy is grown up, has all the assassin skills, and during the skipped time he did... what, exactly? Being in assassin in AC3 doesn't even feel cool. Normal characters and townsfolk don't react to your outfit or skills. Overall, the whole thing felt uninspired and driven by numbers, from writing and directing perspective. Music was great; Connor's assassin outfit design is still my favorite in the whole series.
I'm gonna have to disagree entirely. AC2 barely showed Ezio training at all and Connor's story is by far much more relatable and compelling. I genuinely don't know how you play through the entire game just to miss all of what it has to offer
@@SlowNSteady123 What held Connor's story back was he became a last minute cliche American Revolution hero when he shouldn't have. That's like making Charles Smith stay with Dutch as an outlaw in RDR2 as opposed to helping Rains Fall's tribe in escaping to Canada.
I personally love AC 2 and Brotherhood. In fact young me would basically lump them together because it was essentially the same storyline and very similar gameplay. Brotherhood felt a bit like DLC to me, which was not an issue at the time and still is not an issue because the two games work so well together. Never played any other Ezio game though.
I should say too: I basically skipped every AC game to Odyssey and I had a good time with it. Enough for me to buy Valhalla, which I scrapped 2 weeks later because I legit could not be bothered to continue after clearing the second area of England.
this is a really good video! you exactly captured what I myself and probably thousands of others have been feeling for years into words! great work! :) (sorry for bad english)
You forgot Assassin's Creed Rogue. It was Black Flag, except you were playing a Templar, which was a nice change. It also ties into AC Unity. Also I quite liked Odyssey. They made modern day story matter again, and it was heavily focused on the ISU.
I remember when ubisoft had started to get hate and stuff but then watch dogs 2 and ac origins came out, two absolutely wonderful games, that would make anyone hopeful for the futures of the franchises, but then those went to shit as well :(
I intensely disagree with your statement that Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag had a shallow story. AC4's story was about Edward and his greed for wealth and recognition. He started with nothing and most of the game, he goes about acquiring what his heart desires. Yet at the end of story, he has everything he WANTED, but lost everyone he NEEDED. The story is about his journey to that point and his attempts to repent and rectify the harm he has caused afterwards. That's a beautiful story.
You tryna say Uncharted is a bad series? Uncharted is miles ahead of Far Cry and AC not only storywise but also gameplay wise. The games feel alive, have good voice acting and an actual ibteresting story. All AC have is trailing missions.
@@mjl11 Uncharted is mediocre because its gameplay is mediocre. Seriously. Naughty Dog has been working on third person shooters for over a decade and still can't get it right. TLOU2 is also proof of this. Maybe if they'd stop focusing so much on how their cutscenes look, maybe they'd make a decent third person shooter. Regardless, I was not talking about Uncharted. I was talking about games like Spiderman, Ghost of Tsushima, and Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West.
@@carteljameson8395 ow yeah i agree with u on the last part that shit sucks. But def not agree with u about Naughty Dog. Imo the gameplay is perfectly fine. TLOU 1 is prob the best game i ever played. Shit was so good.
I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts. They seem to be trying to leach the outstanding games and lose sight of what made them good in the first place. I think they need to take a step back and make a completely new and original game and stop focusing on only the profits. Even if the game wasn't the best, having something new and refreshing would most likely bring hope back to the fans. And in the process, bring in more sales anyways? 🤷♂ btw love the videos, and keep up the good work!
Am I the only one who actually enjoys their games still? Sure, I get some of your points about them being afraid to innovate in some areas of their sequels, but the games themselves are already fun and enjoyable for me, although grindy.
Your "analysis" is surface level and your core arguments are sustained on third party reviews and user scores, which have proven to be unreliable, context-dependant and easily manipulated. You're not wrong, per se, I just didn't get a lot of insight or interesting information from the video. Also "mediocracy" isn't a thing. It's mediocrity, which I'd use to describe this content.
Another average TH-camr hating Ubisoft games for being Ubisoft. Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Origins, Watchdogs 2 are masterpieces, in some cases, way better than other games and RPGs that people usually praise only because it's trend to do that.
Revelations is still my favorite AC game because of the narrative and how it shows how both Altair and Ezio have grown and changed. With Altair, you get to see his entire life after the events of the first game, which, if you've played the first game, really show how he matured and gone from a brainless combat-hungry brute to a wise leader and scholar, much more so than the first game. For Ezio, you've already played through vast sections of his life in previous games, and now you see how they affect the man he becomes, both how they build a solid core for him to keep searching for the answers he wants and how his past experiences and age weigh on him and finally get him to say, "this is enough". It's a shame to see a series which had such amazing gameplay and storytelling to devolve into such soulless cash grabs. Maybe the stories of the newer Assassins are compelling - I wouldn't know, I couldn't play them long enough - but they're saddled to games that try their best to put them in the backseat for the microtransactions and grind.
I always agreed with the camp that said that Vaas should have been the final boss of FC3, but now that I think about what you said, it really drives home the fact the Brody has changed. For the normal protagonist, the arc has been completed. A normal protagonist would go home with his friends and deal with his ptsd, nut Brody wants more. FC3 really was the best hands down
Loved the video and agree with pretty much everything. I would just say this, though, as a biased Assassins Creed fanboy for over a decade now. AC 3 is solid with AMAZING characters. Haytham and the whole Kenway story is fascinating and fun to explore alongside Black Flag. Unity had so much potential but Ubisoft ruined it and what it could’ve been by rushing the release. We don’t talk about syndicate. Origins is really good, but I honestly really enjoyed Odyssey too. I’ve played the heck out of it and love the setting and Kassandra/Alexios did have a good amount of thought put into. I’ve put more time into it than Origins, but I adore the setting of Odyssey which would explain why. Valhalla I’m not a big fan of. Essentially, I do believe odyssey and valhalla are good games, but it’s ridiculous Ubisoft puts Assassins Creed in the title. Only until the very end of odyssey are assassins and templars basically mentioned, and I’m not sure about valhalla because I’m yet to finish it. I do believe they’re solid games, though, but Ubisoft need to step the series back and tie it back to the modern day plot or at least involve templars/assassins again, or just drop the name and take their time to make a good RPG game (but that would mean losing the AC title cash cow and ubi won’t do that…) TL;DR I have too much hope for Ubisoft, I’m high off copium, and think the (newer) AC games get a bitttt too much flak since they’re still fun games.
I think Gus Fring was in the game way more than Pagan Min was, from memory Pagan was in it at the start and the end, only occasionally coming on over the radio during the game. Where as Fring appeared quite often establishing the relationship between himself and his son.

nice bro
okay, I have one question for you do you want 1 good game in 10 years or 20 above-average games?
because that's what Ubisoft is going for they make a large number of games because it sells and all industries are after money valhalla sold 20 million copies and rdr2 50 million yeah there is a 30 mill difference but they made that from other games so I don't blame companies going for this strategy but I think Ubisoft should only make 1 game from their franchise after 3-year gaps that's the only comeback for them

I love AC4's story honestly, Edward losing all of his friends little by little and maturing over it is honestly pretty captivating, and that ending scene with him going down the hill, seeing his dead friends on the table while the girl sings, and giving the flower to his daughter is one of the best endings in a game for me.
Agreed.
There's not a lot I ain't done in Black Flag, I've never bothered with the DLCs like Edwards rare swords and stuff, I'm 83rd most feared pirates (no biggie) but still it's a game I can play again and again and still get enjoyment outta it. i lowkey think that, as of today, ac unity is actually one of the best games in the series when it comes to the gameplay and the world.
sure, the story was wack, and the missions were kinda boring, and the microtransactions were shit, but i'll be damned if the combat and the parkour didn't feel great in unity, i also felt that they nailed the atmosphere of the french revolution, it legitimately felt jarring to come out of a fetch quest into a world were you could note people protesting, fighting, begging for food, etc, there was so much going on in the world that it added to the "blend into the crowd thing" you mentioned, too, like that time i straight out killed the guy in notre dame in front of everyone only to run into the crowd and instantly escape, because there was no way they'd find one guy in the middle of a protest that wanted you dead anyways.

If Ubisoft keep this up, Microsoft could buy them as well.
@CodeBreaker but... that's all that ubisoft is doing nowadays
That may not be such a bad idea. Maybe they’ll revive splinter cell or remake
Black Flag was the first to introduce purchasable IGC, alongside mandatory statted combat in the form of naval battles. Every previous game, and also Unity, can be completed with no upgrades if you want only the story content
Unity was hated for its bugs, its broken netcode, and its awful framerate. If you look in the comments section of someone like Swifty Unknown, you'll find a very different story
Wildlands has no less than 11 different biomes. Because you can do most sequences in any order, any time you get bored of one biome, you can just switch to a different one
Okay... this one's a lot heavier: I think you *want* to hate Far Cry 6. That is, when the characters aren't joking around in the face of violent oppression and the AI aren't running around like headless chickens waiting for you to kill them, issues I and many other players have with the game that you failed to mention
Connect's currency actually cannot be bought.
This video really nails my feelings for Ubisoft. If think the points you make are great. Good video!
It’s so frustrating that Ubisoft has just given up on their creative talent for safe economic benefit. Really hope they can bring back all of that talent, particularly for Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed.
The release of The Settlers 8 beta yesterday literally killed the few hopes that saga community had... So sad...
Origin is pretty average as well. Very forgettable character and motivations. Story-wise can't compete with The Witcher 3.
Still better than Rogue, Unity, Syndicate and Odyssey combined. And if were making comparisons to the Witcher 3, then Horizon Zero Dawn doesn't live up to it as well.
This video is absolutely incredible, you illustrate every problem with the company perfectly, keep up the amazing work 😁
AC 3 was a downgrade compared to AC Brotherhood & Revelations & then it never really recovered as they kept removing core elements & copying other games.
The decline looks linear to me 👀
Just imagine for a moment, the wondrous worlds and magical experiences that would exist right now if these slimy corporate developers actually made works of passion instead of falling to the dark side.
So you like one game more than other, but you say the other game is better xd
@@amirphoenix2327 Yes. It's like going to watch an MCU movie with your pals instead of watching Lord of The Rings again. You know LOTR is better, but you want something different and more simple.

It's obvious that they've looked at other RPG games and thought: "Yea, we need that, BUT, HOW ABOUT we add microtransactions."
This is painfully obvious in Valhalla and that's a shame.
So, to sum up Ubisoft in a few words: *"So much wasted potential, good concept, utterly wasted opportunity"*
What microtransactions? You can easily play Valhalla without even coming across something you need microtransactions for.
Mediocrity. The word is Mediocrity, not Mediocracy. A Mediocracy woud be a type of government or ruling class (like a Democracy, Autocracy, or Technocracy)
Glad to see someone pointing out the word mediocracy has been misused...
and glad to see RoboKast taking the criticism with dignity and class.
I know it’s not the point the the word is mediocriTy, with a T. How did such a well edited and recorded video keep that in multiple times?
One really good thing about 6 that wasn’t in 4 or 5 is the fact that the main character has a personality and isn’t just a silent guy for the player to pretend is them
In 4 ajay ghale talked
Ubisoft seems a awful lot like an another publisher that went downhill recently
Hint
It has vanguard in it and it was released during 2021
The more thing that this company is worse is owning Growtopia.
@@SlowNSteady123 I never said I did.
I should say too:
I basically skipped every AC game to Odyssey and I had a good time with it.
NFTs shouldn't be in gaming.
Ubisoft is just a cash grubbing company these days....
You forgot Assassin's Creed Rogue. It was Black Flag, except you were playing a Templar, which was a nice change. It also ties into AC Unity.
Also I quite liked Odyssey. They made modern day story matter again, and it was heavily focused on the ISU.
Odyssey is easily the worst AC game because it takes place before origins
It’s a great video, would be even better if your profile pic doesn’t look like NFT
all pixel art is nfts??
Love this, AC hasn't been the same in such a long time... I miss being a real assassin.
"MediocriTY." NOT "mediocricy" or "mediocracy."
I remember when ubisoft had started to get hate and stuff but then watch dogs 2 and ac origins came out, two absolutely wonderful games, that would make anyone hopeful for the futures of the franchises, but then those went to shit as well
:(
I intensely disagree with your statement that Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag had a shallow story.
Ubisoft is a french studio and Unity was a disaster. Failing a game that represent your own country, your own history… What a shame
maybe its my opinion but idk i played it a couple days ago and I think its really good its not that buggy anymore
I'm still waiting for someone to make a video about how Sony literally copies Ubisoft's formula for their first party games and gets a pass for it.
No it won't happen
Have you played Immortals Fenyx Rising?
Have you played the far cry 6 dlc?
Hopefully the algorithm will do its job , and another shitty channel will just fade back into obscurity.
It's funny, my favorite Assassin is Atlier. I like how broken he was and then what he built.
Its Altair
@@adityasailada3398 I know. Thanks. I can't spell at 3 in the morning.
I do believe they’re solid games, though, but Ubisoft need to step the series back and tie it back to the modern day plot or at least involve templars/assassins again, or just drop the name and take their time to make a good RPG game (but that would mean losing the AC title cash cow and ubi won’t do that…)
TL;DR I have too much hope for Ubisoft, I’m high off copium, and think the (newer) AC games get a bitttt too much flak since they’re still fun games.
I think Gus Fring was in the game way more than Pagan Min was, from memory Pagan was in it at the start and the end, only occasionally coming on over the radio during the game. Where as Fring appeared quite often establishing the relationship between himself and his son.
