    So there's something weird going on here... "ZZEW" is on the box, but "ZZAW" is on the case. And if you look up the brands, "ZZAW" seems to be legit. I'm not sure if ZZEW is rebranding/re-boxing ZZAW hardware and selling it on their own Amazon store.

      just saw how much you paid for it ... it's around 110 dollars shipped direct from china to here in the philippines, really tempting at this local pricepoint to be honest. they've got cheaper cases in their "C" and "B" line as well, I think it was the C2 I almost bought, its about 60 dollars shipped lol

    I love cases like this , however the lack of cable management and the fact the power supply is on show like that ruins it and the price is abit steep.

    • @LeitoAE
      @LeitoAE 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I have seen it in a very old PC case, that I'll call a "motherboard wall" in a PC case (not back cover), was mounted on a hinge and there was a 1 screw to secure it after the cable management beside the "motherboard wall". If something like this was used in this case it would be possible to hide all of those cables.
      Also on a marketing picture I can see that you can mount 2 2,5 inch drives on top of a PSU that, in my opinion, is the most optimal way of storage in this case. I mean, for a consumer PC it doesn't really matter if you have 2,5 or 3,5 inch spinning hard drive.
      Good to see a review of some non-well-known brands like this. I am a little bit of sick of seing next popular brand case review. They are needed, but from some other brands you can see some cool ideas too. @Greg keep up searching for those!

    • @LeitoAE
      @LeitoAE 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@saturnGEEK No. I mean before 2000 era when there was no such thing as gaming pc gear. It was simple white/beige case with totaly closed front without air intake and a blue button 🤣. It was a cheap design so there was costs saving on back panel, but to mount a motherboard and tidy cables you could unscrew 1 screw and the motherboard tray was on a hinge. It could be opened like a door. Of course when motherboard was mounted you could not fully open it because of CPU cooler and other stuff, but it was the first and only time when I saw this design. 😝

    I like the cut out design, and that it is made of aluminium. That being said, I dislike everything else about it, the lack of space for fans, larger graphic cards, storage, cable mangement, and it is over priced for a case without fans.

      @72Yonatan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In other words, it fails even for the category of build that it advertises itself as. But I agree with you that the one-piece design itself and the aluminum material is a good idea.

      Just bad reviev.
      You can install 2x120mm fan on front, 2x120mm with AIO rad in back, 120mm on top and i think 90mm fan on bottom.
      There no problem to fit 3090 STRIX with slim fans on front, or 3080 FE / 3070FE with 2x full size 120mm on front/
      With ATX psu you can fit 3.5 hdd (even 2 -3 if you have 3d printer) in top fan place, or 120mm fan and hdd's with SFF case.
      overall its 7/10 case, it little on hot side if you have decent gpu and top of the line cpu with 240mm rad, but nothing criminal.

    ZZAW is actually a very solid chinese brand, they mainly sell in SEA or at least in my region they're much more attainable down here in SEA.
    They're a very good alternative for SFF cases in which most of the time reaches the upper 200-300 usd range and they make them in a much more affordable price without sacrificing the experience and looks of the case.
    For the C1 you can actually fit a 240mm AIO on the rear and that helps a lot with the clean build and the temps if you do push for a higher tier or TDP CPU. You can also place a 3.5" HDD near the PSU and 2x 120mm fan near the GPU area.
    Here locally we can get it at around 130-120USD (converted) and I bet you can get it even cheaper if you go to Aliexpress or something so I think it's just because it was imported in US that's why it was priced that kinda high.

  • @bklynsmithers

    I've had my current buuld in this case for about a year (i'm in the US). Use an sfx power supply (i'm using an V850 from cooler master), gives you a ton more room in the top. I also pre-routed my cables under the motherboard BEFORE mounting the board! Takes a bit of measuring but wayyyyyyy cleaner. I have a 5900x on a 240 AIO. Be VERY careful if you go this route, there is almost zero tolerance for AIO clearance!!!!!! I did a lot of work making mine fit.
    The best thing about this case is it can be taken apart bit by bit. I took the front inside panel, power button, fan mount, PSU bracket etc. And custom painted them all. It's all screws, not rivets.

    Genius idea to use the 2060 with the PCIe power to the side. I wonder if you used an SFX PSU with an ATX bracket if you'd be able to hide some cables above the power supply. Also, I bet you could find a motherboard with the USB headers at the bottom. That might make the cable management a bit better. Otherwise, it's a cool case and I think it's a neat idea they decided to use aluminum.

    I'm getting major Segotep Typhon vibes from the rotated motherboard layout, I keep thinking about moving my system into that case for GPU reasons, 1) it gets direct flow from the front fans blowing straight at it 2) hanging it from the IO bracket should mean no sag. The fact that we get full ATX motherboard compatibility, a rear panel to hide cables in, a PSU basement (it looks open at the top in product photos, maybe it would be more accurate to call it a shroud), the cables come out the top instead of the bottom so it seems like easier access, and that it's about half the price all seems to make that case seem like a better option IMO. The only thing that's kept me from doing it is that it won't fit my existing water cooler, the typhon only officially has 240mm rad support, and the larger Phoenix T1 seems like it would leave a lot of empty space.

    The one thing I don't like about PC cases where the motherboard I/O panel is not directly accessible from the outside is that said panel contains a lot of ports that may need to be used on a regular basis. After all, you only have two USB ports on the front of the case. Motherboard I/O panels typically have at least four, sometimes more. You may need access to them on a regular basis.

    You could route front panel cables behind MB, between board and case. Don't know about lenght, but I have done it in some builds.

    i built my personal gaming pc in the ZZAW C2 (awesome naming scheme they have huh haha) its a 13 liter mATX case. i have an i7 10700 on an asus prime b560m, seasonic 650 focus platinum atx psu and a rtx 3070 fe. its a nice looking build. very very tight fit of the matx motherboard and atx psu but its in there. the case is a decent amount smaller then the NR200P (20 liters) to use a atx psu and a matx motherboard, you want to use a motherboard that isnt wide enough to use the 3rd wide mounting hole. the asus prime b560m was perfect cause it has a few fan headers and rgb headers, 4 ram slots, decent vrm cooling, 2x m.2 slots, color matches the case and the pcie 16 lane is the top slot. i want to build in the ZZAW C1 case, just the cost makes it kinda hard to want to do so

    If you had colored sleeved cables cut to the correct length it would be way better looking and maybe then I would think its cool.. but at the price for this I could have alot of other options for cases and this wouldn't be one of them...

    The case looks fine, but as someone who relies on Wi-Fi this case would be limited to cabled external antennas which is always kind of messy. The Sama im01/im02 might be less flexible in its micro-atx config but is a bit more conventional and cheaper

    Quick way to do the upside down motherboard to cooler alignment. Instead of trying to see the cooler through the holes in the motherboard, take a small screwdriver or allen wrench and put it through the hole in the motherboard. You will be able to see the shaft of the screwdriver below the MB and be able to quickly align the cooler.

    Another great one Greg. I built in this case last year, but ended up returning it to Amazon. I felt like for the price I was very unimpressed with the finishing on my unit. The edges were rough and there were many imperfections (scratches/marks/dings) straight out of the box. It was a cool and unique case but I wouldn’t pay any more than $80 for it

    I got the pink version of this case. You can actually fit 240mm radiator on the back. Very good temp when 90mm fan installed at the bottom. Generally very satisfied with the case. Thankfully, the price in my country actually not that absurd. That price would kill the deal for me.

    The ZZEW C1 PC Case is an awesomely designed case. It is lacking some storage innovation for drives …. But it’s a great layout and an add-in over plate to cover the misc psu cabling would be something in a revision to look at 🥰👍. Working with ITX builds for many years, you see pricing here for this case is a little high but still reasonable imo.

    This would be a great series featuring not only unusual cases but other unique component designs. The design of this case is interesting and I think it could have been really good. I love the idea of the GPU placement, bringing in all that fresh air from the front of the case. But the lack of a PSU shroud, what looks like very challenging cable management, a weird case fan setup (92mm?) and that horrendous dust filter makes this a no for me especially for the price. I would have enjoyed just seeing a quick review of thermals because I'm not sure if I agree with you Greg that the temps will be acceptable here. I agree that people will often obsess about a degree or two, but frankly I think this one could throttle that i5-12600 CPU. Great video as always Greg!

    Good choice of motherboard. I run the MAG B365M and it's a sweet board. With the M.2 socket, I'd run a SATA drive for storge away the OS on the NVE card. Other than that, I'd like to think this case will take off and the prices come down as a result. (USD 119.00 at the time of writing).

      I was going to suggest routing the USB 3.0 cable under the motherboard. I usually do this for USB/Audio/Fan etc. cables in smaller builds or inverted cases. 90 degree HDMI/Displayport/USB adapters or cables can help with cases like these.

    Cool, Greg actually bought this case. I have this. I wanna see how a pro builds in one. ZZAW does a lot of cases with super tight tolerances. Going Air-cooled is def a safe bet in this thing because the radiator mounts are a pain to use. I think the 4 case fan screws are meant to be used with the front mount brackets because those things only mount to one side of a case fan (super jank, we know). There's technically 6 fan mounts. The 92mm below, the 2 120s on the back (also for AIO), the 120 above, and the 2 you dangle on the front with those janky brackets.
