- On November 4, 2023, the Western Flyer returned to Monterey for the first time in 75 years! This video captures the Flyer as it pulls up to the dock at Old Fisherman's Wharf, with a slew of happy onlookers and the merry sea shanty of Andrew Boushka welcoming her in! Thanks for the great drone footage @SoulcraftAllstars.
I enjoyed watching the restoration process for the ship. I wish the channel would have included more about the outfitting of the ship with drive systems, electronics, and more. The amount of woodworking in this project is amazing and the talent doing the work as well.
I'm watching the WFFC series from the beginning. With morning coffee, episode 13 this morning. Steaming and bending a 3" inch timber
I would not have thought that was possible, "too thick". The restoration is fascinating. I'm excited to visit the Flyer. I have a dog-earred copy
of "The Log". I travelled extensively as a boy with my father around the Sea of Cortez, landing his plane on remote dirt strips and camping
on beaches that felt like they had never been stepped on before. The seasonal fisherman would prove me wrong on that point.

This has to be my favourite Christmas present! I followed this beautiful restoration from day 1 but l think the Covid panic precluded it's public completion .....The dedication and hard work of the artisans will ,as always, be soon forgotten . As a car restorer of 53 + years l know the skill it takes to restore a car. The skill it takes to restore this piece of history is quantum leaps ahead of my skills ! I guess Chris has no imput ? Thankyou !
Will we be getting any final updates about the build? Any launching videos? Any sailing on the pacific?
We've been focused on completing the restoration and getting our programs up and running, but we do hope to share more videos in the future. Thanks for following.

Can you share the total cost to rebuild and outfit the Western Flyer?
Western Flyer is beautiful no doubt, but even though pretty it seems the black rails would get too hot to touch in the sun. I think they should be white. What is the reasoning behind the black top coats instead of the cooler white? Thanks
