Good to see THE BOATA & The EXPLORERS, and the SCIENCE / research havn't been forgotten about. In such a short film, so much INFO. Included! A truly great insight. Fully enjoyed it. Love how there's genuine accounts from different 'experts on the history, and that it (boat ) is 'being explored' (instead of exploring) as a learning focus for kids....and this short doco is dedicated to Jr. Ricketts.
Thank you for this amazing story. I had no idea that this was going on. I came by this because I got the book Log from the Sea of Cortez and now reading it. One thing led to another. Thank you. Looking forward to actually seeing the boat in Monterey.
Thank you for all of this: the vision (above all), the dedication, the commitment of time and money, and the phenomenal skill of wooden boat builders in this 21st century. Each step is a transformative accomplishment. Thank you for taking us along with you in these videos.
Have watched all the videos and thank you for taking us along on this journey I can imagine working on the restoration from afar and enjoy the journey along with so many others. Keep up the good work
When you just story on the background on windship. And would cause the sinking weather-related equipment wise. And was there any Personnel lost when the ship sank the three or four times it did that would be a good story to hear about indep more info. Thank you I have watched this from start to present and I am thoroughly enjoyed the build must have more input thank you God bless
What a fantastic project! If I may ask, the interiors displayed starting a 9:00 are not actual depictions of what WF will look like inside when it's finished, correct? The depictions appear to be much larger than the WF.
Wonderful project and talented team mates. Would be interested in your power options and renewables. Contemporary and progressive. None theological thinking is a wonderful mental state of play. Just like being out at sea, free to explore in every direction. Smart.
Was groundbreaking for sure but was an inheritor on the conservation movement begun 60 years before (or more). Also, a legacy of the voyages of Cook and Darwin when you think about it centuries before (which were also much more impactful for natural science and biology.)
Its been my life long observation that the decline ,destruction & eventual breakdown of classic this & that, be it of eco- systems the seas state of health, even choice marine craft, airplanes & automobiles, has been the directly effected by the physical, mental, and internal collapse of the human condition. When we keep plugging away at giving our all & all towards being healthy individuals, build our cities with care, treat ourselves & neighbors with dignity, everything around us has a ripe opportunity to follow our path. Boats, homes, classic cars, forests, bodies of fresh & salty waters & all the life in between get better attention.
This has become compelling to follow. What a history! Do you apply for and get financial help from lottery funding schemes as we do in the UK? The wood alone must cost hundreds of thousands of dollars! Great stuff! Take care and stay safe.
FYI: 40 years ago I thought I’d drive my motorcycle head on into the grill of a semi, but before I did I said to God, “if you are real; I can’t stop the sin in my life”. Next thing I knew a presence flowed over and through me. Several days later I discovered that all my allergies were GONE (wheat, dust orange blossom, smoke and mold to name a few). If I even ate a crumb of wheat, I would get hives the size of baseball’s all over my body. Now, I have NO allergies; NO MORE shots, and can eat all the donuts I want, PTL.
If only there was as much time and enthusiasm shown by all these boat owners and associates, in collecting and ridding our seas of the millions of tons of plastic none degradable waste that we are all guilty of creating ,the world would be a far better place .Never mind old wooden boats.
I am involved in supporting plastic recycling and gyre-reclamation..among so many supporting this project. We are wingmen in formation you fool. @@KILAPH24471 Maybe you can explain why this old piece of shit boat, that was allowed to sink, not once but twice, that has to have every timber replaced to the extent that none or very little of the original boat remain, and for what?
@@KILAPH24471 Great answer, a foolish liberal uses name calling because you don't have the wherewithal to defend your position. Just an emotional child.

It's a boat people but you've turned it into an object and idolize it. That's sad you don't worship God but a boat. This what man does with just about anything these days.
jimmy tiler the entire story is within Gods Creation. That's clearly embossed on the pictorial. I'm sorry you've lost your vision. Tragedies such as yours deserve our compassion and attention. Good Speed.
Thanks for bringing me here Leo. Tally Ho. Sampson Boat Co.

What an awesome story! Thanks for saving the Western Flyer and putting it to good use. :-)
Thanks for watching. Any relationship to ED Ricketts?
@@WesternFlyerFoundationChannel Not that I know of though I suppose it is possible. Thanks again for sharing your great project! :-)
She looks fantastic again now.
The Sea of Cortez is a place of beauty. I want to go back.

I am very interested in this project. Very fascinating. one question what engine did it have originally?
Thanks for your interest, and thanks for your comment. The Western Flyer was originally built with a 6 cylinder 160 HP Atlas. Chris

All very good points indeed. Ship Ahoy.... and as we know, some science and theological conclusion, is very questionable to say the least!

It's an old fishing boat, just one of many, just because Steinbeck spent time on it only makes it special in the minds of overly sentimental fools.
