...Hm. A tragedy all around.
Are you into Power Rangers? What are your thoughts on all this..?
First
nah
I loved Power Rangers SPD as a child
It needs reviving
This might just be me but I always thought power rangers was lame it just felt nerdy not entertaining at all and I was a kid myself and I so was embarrassed just to even see a commercial of this show
Growing up I gave power rangers a try as a kid. I enjoyed the original series. Some series I could not get connected with the new team. Some later on series I did manage to like the new crew. So for me it was 50/50 on whoever the new team turned out to be and storyline wise if I would stick with them and gave them a chance or not. I honestly enjoyed the 2018 film though quite a ton. I personally thought it was great to go back into the roots of the lore and all and I thought the new cast was actually likeable if they had more room to grow within the time length they had. Wished we could've gotten a series involving the same crew from the 2018 though to watch them properly grow together overall, it would've been a fun watch i think.
Would love to see an animated movie for Power Rangers/Super Sentai in the same style as Ultraman Rising
hello soundwave
Sentai have sentai dashikkaku tho
Or Gridman SSSS.
HOLY SHIT YESSS
Soundwave superior, autobots inferior
we missed out
Heyy
We sure did
Bro, you’re famous
Is there an animated super sentai thing?
@ buddy, Japan owns those
18:02 The reason why it's in the state that it's in because Hasbro, kind of didn't want to begin with. Let's take it back to the previous CEO, Brian Goldner. He was the one that was part of the recent acquisitions of game studios and IPs. He bought Power Rangers against the advice of the Board of Directors. He used to work for Bandai and he was a fan of the series. Saban tried to make a cinematic universe during the Infinity Saga and when it flopped, he sold it to Hasbro. Brian Goldner was the only person, in my opinion, who had plans with the franchise, but he passed away from cancer and no one knew until postmortem. Tragically, the dream for that franchise died with him.
With out any actual direction, Power Rangers entries as we know it, was basically shut down.
Fair enough, I think it’s had its course, considering that more people are watching Shonen Jump anime adaptations than power rangers itself recently.
@SlapstickGenius23 That maybe, but the spirit of the franchise will live on. All over the web, multiple attempts at fan produced live action Power Rangers content does exist. Over time, due to time availability, constraints, and budget, it does fade away from the digital public.
Animation does seem like the most practical way to go,but that's not cheap either.
@@seekertosecretsnah, basically just give up and embrace the fact that you'll never be happy no matter how hard they tell you that you won't own anything...
But you know what happens when people have nothing left to lose
@@lautarogomez9711 Care to explain it a bit further? For some reason, my mind is telling me that a bold action is implemented.
the board of directors that, let's be honest, in the last decade has been shown to not really be capable of direct anything. the entire brand is either in shambles, surviving outta the fan keeping things going, or getting assist by more capable partners!
fun fact: i think that cancelled/scrapped movie probably inspired SAMG (the same people behind the animation for the origins movie) to create their own vision to Power Rangers/Sentai, which is "Miniforce", (except it's animals transforming into humanoid suits rather than humans), that show is dang popular in Korea, China, pretty much
ITS A SUPER! RANGER! MINI FOOOOORCE!
That show was great when my kid was young lol
@@MiseryDuke69 real lol
I wouldn't mind an animated Power Rangers show so long as it doesn't mean the old school live action adaptation style isn't abandoned either. The only issue is that animated action cartoons have not been appealing to kids for the past decade. Especially because kids aren't buying the toys from those shows. Even Transformers has been struggling a lot lately with it. Earthspark gets next to no promotion and has had terrible ratings. Not helped because it was exclusive to Paramount+ for a long time in the US. A service hardly anyone uses. I also just worry Power Rangers even if it goes animated won't really stand out compared other animated superhero shows. At least from the perspective of a kid. What made Power Rangers break out was because it was a live action superhero kids shows. And there's not really any other one that matched its quality for 30 years. Make it animated and well, what's really all that different from it that's gonna take kids away from watching something like Ninjago which has the same template of color coded teens fighting evil with mechs and martial arts?
Might be a wild shot, but what if they made something like Star Wars: Visions.
Just give some small Animation/Film studio the rights to make something that takes place in a Power Ranger world.
Like what would it be like to be a civilian during a Megazord fight, a Kid find a helmet or morphing device and has to use it to stop a Baddie. You could even follow a Monster have second thoughts about fighting the Power Ranger to the death and just wants to see the world. Heck, it could even be about a Monster that actively tries to save kids!
It would also be nice to go beyond MMPR. I have been seeing old PR episodes and recaps, and, honestly, MMPR is too juvenile. There have been other good iterations I remember from my childhood, like Time Force and Ninja Storm.
that stupid movie is why we dindnt get an animated series?! they spent so much on VFX they had to have the MegaZord form offsscreen! and forming the MegaZord is like the coolest part!
i think that movie is also indirectly responsible for the reason why the new transformer wont get a sequel that movie haunts us till this day
Alt title: Another “Why Power Rangers is dying” vid and how this obscure cancelled animated show could’ve saved it
Man I loved dinothunder, mystic force, SPD, and operation overdrive all of them were just awesome and the over arching story between all of those series was sick!! Mystic force was my favorite the lore of that series was deep and I wish we got more of it!
Operation Overdrive might have been bad but I loved it.
@@SKayStevens2890 it was definitely the odd ball of the Disney line up, but I liked it too.
I loved Overdrive! The goofy ahh Zords in the dystopian world will never not be hilarious
Yeah I'm someone who grew up with the series since MMPR, but honestly Dino Thunder/SPD/Mystic Force was probably my favorite era of Power Rangers
@@gameinsane4718 ain't that RPM??
I'm a huge Power Rangers fan. I would be open to the idea of an animated series. I'd be open to almost anything at this point. I also do believe the pandering is a rough conundrum. I wouldn't mind seeing a reimagination of a different generation but if they do bring Mighty Morphin back again, at least make it stand out. Very cool how you got Este for this video he's my favorite Ranger TH-cam person. Thank you for giving attention to this even if it isn't one of your usual topics.
As a Digimon fan I hate all the gen 1 pandering When Gen 3 is the most popular
I’ve always wanted a Power Rangers anime or just animated series I still hope we get that someday
closest we get is "Go Go Loser Ranger"
I never really gave it much thought, but I'm surprised that such a long running succecful series never had a cartoon 🤷🏾♂️
There’s several Asian Tokusatsu from China, Indonesia, and Korea that started their franchises with animated "power rangers", sometimes live action or a mix.
@ I know right the concept of the power Rangers fits perfectly into animation it just weird it has never been successful
@@HdNinjaMsBrickStudio
Because the japanese think it loses smth it was made into that, just look at Fuuto PI. The novelty kinda dies on that format.
The pandering has been awful in my opinion, specially with how much love Japan gives to the Sentais over the years, the anniversary sentais are a special thing cause it calls back to everything, I the big wigs think MMPR is the only thing that sells and that's why we keep getting projects on this, but there are now adults that grew up with other series that would pay for stuff from those series, I love Wild Force and the disney Era, its what I grew up with, I would love to see them show up more in stuff, something we rarely get. Specially with them saying how basing it on the japanese footage has been so limiting, yet they keep going back to MMPR, make it make sense!
The currently running Super Sentai season, Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger is doing this perfectly imo. Boonboomger isn't an anniversary season, but it features a few dedicated cameo episodes to different rangers from across multiple eras. These include the sentai equivalents of RPM and Super Megaforce as well as Toqger which never got adapted into a PR season. Would love to see PR pay homage to ALL of its seasons like sentai already does.
They keep going back to mmpr because it's the cash cow of the brand. It has the most brand recognition and people shell out the $ for mmpr more than any other team.
Animation could have created new imagination for the Power Rangers series and it is disappointing that even to today there hasn’t been one made
Right smh
I'd say, do what the Godzilla franchise did and take a long break. Only return when there is a good pitch for a brand new live action movie. And this project better be firing all cylinders, with a good story, good casting. Good direction and ESPECIALLY good designs.
The idea of power rangers being animated is actually super interesting because there are a lot of manga and animes that are super sentai inspired that are also fairly popular
3:06 YOU CAN BUY *THE* MASKED RIDER/KAMEN RIDER BLACK RX COSTUME!?!?
From what i Heard, they ONLY Kept the Black RX and Draegon suit because Kamen Rider Black RX was released in 1989 while masked Rider was Made in the late 90's. so most of the suit already Degrades at that point
It was all Hasbro/Saban properties, and Masked Rider was part of it as a PR spinoff in the States.
Power Rangers Unworthy pays more respect to the series as a whole than Hasbro. How sad. 🥺
I think what would help the franchise right now is Animated Series adaptation of BOOM! Studios Power Rangers, not only the MMPR issues, but all of the others too. Making a separate Anthology type Animated Series with the stories like Soul of the Dragon would be a super great idea too.
I would’ve loved an animated Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers movie made by the same studio that made Miraculous Ladybug.
Power Rangers is held back by being live action, it would be amazing and exceed those limitations as animated
Kind of like....VOLTRON.
Well, it's based off a tokusatsu series, so it makes sense.
Highly disagree, they are being held back by budget and and their unwillingness to go all out on their live action-ness, like how Yakuza, one piece, cowboy beepbop don't need to be a live action, power ranger don't need to be anime, they just need to be better in the form that they are which they are so reluctant to because nobody held the property care to spare dime like toei did with their tokusatsu production
They can't go all out because they rely too much on Sentai footage
@@miregoji2959 This implies that the Sentai footage doesnt go all out
This is a fantastic video and a great collaboration between various TH-cam power rangers content creators.
Mini Force was a fun animated Toku 3D cartoon along with Kamen Rider: W's Fuuto PI anime. An animated Power Rangers could work if done right.
I don't think that the criticism about pandering to mighty Morphin is unwarranted but I do find it funny that the underlying reason is that they just want love to the seasons that they grew up with. Not that they want quality new stuff lol
Honestly an animated Power Rangers movie CAN work, Ultraman Rising was a really good movie and it adapted the source material really to not only make a good Ultraman movie but a just a good movie in general, if they apply that same mentality to Power Rangers then it could work
0:26 Why was the red ranger (Jason) 's face
got blurred out?
Kinda sad hasbro just bought it like a few years ago and then barely advertise and make merch then just threw away decades of props and costumes
I struggle to imagine power rangers in animation. I think the closest we got was that Dino thunder episode where they became a comic book
Having the original show brought back again and again is really annoying because there are so many other series that could use it.
I'm not going to tell you which villan and season this is, but that is something that beast morphers has done very well because the main villain turns out to be the same villan as another different season, that old season ended on a cliffhanger because we didn't know if the main villain was actually defeated.
Although there is no evidence for this, I think there's a good chance this isn't the last time we see that villain, they could easily make him a villain that can never be defeated forever. a villain that appears once every 10 or 15 years as a plot twist, that would be cool
Me being a nerd of course lol but I never thought Power Rangers was ever floundering until... what, Cosmic Fury? I don't think the fandom ever died, it was Hasbro let it falter. The thing is PR as a comic series is STRONG with multiple iterations out there. I'm more of a fam of the live action, but a separate, anthology series or something that's animated, especially if it looks like Arcane or something, would be WILD.
I swear to god every single company that owned power rangers did NOT want to make money 🙄
Cause they were loosing money by owning Power Rangers😂
@@GGX120no it wouldn’t have gotten 30 season if they where losing money
Non of the brands (minus saban) wanted power rangers
11:25 Monster is based on "Silver Horns," from Season 2 Episode 28 "The Power Transfer Part II."
Gen Z's never will grasp the fact that their pop culture landscape never accommodated Power Rangers. That is why their seasons they grew up on will never get that nostalgia pandering.
Power rangers is a show that haves the vibe of a pbs Saturday morning show. It’s fun silly but takes its self serious. (But not to seriously). If it wanted to be a dark series, campy, or a mindless fight show. It will easily find an audience.
It’s like watching kids playing out how the fight will go in their games or fantasy battles.
Hasbro need to make an animated power rangers movie like transformer one

I really want a animation show about Power Rangers both in 2D drawing and 3D CG or something, but as many had said there are so many different Power Rangers to choose from and that can be difficult choose.
However, their could choose a Super Sentai show both the Old ones and new ones that haven been make over to a Power Rangers show and make that into a animation show like the (Himitsu Sentai Gorenger from 1975 to Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from 1992 and onwork etc. but because that their are so old it might be better to make it into animation instead).
Some Sentai shows that i really would love to see as a Animation show or Live Action show would be (ToQger, Lupinranger VS Patranger, Kiramager, Zenkaiger, King-Ohger) and make a remake of (Boukenger/Operation Overdrive, Shinkenger/Samurai+Super, Goseiger/Megaforce, Gokaiger/Super Megaforce and Ninnirenger/Ninja Steel+Super) because they really needs it really much.
Or make a Triple-A video game of original Power Ranger (single or a group) that haf to travel trough time/space and dimensions to stop the Bad Guys that had brainwashed/mind controlled the Power Rangers into Shadow/Evil Rangers or the Bad Guys had made so that the Power Rangers never exists so it our job to make so that Power Rangers keep exists.
Sorry about me Ranting…
Correction for 3:20 - The 1997 Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie is *not* the same Continuity as the 1995 Mighty Morphing Power Rangers: The Movie. The 1997 movie is set between the end of 1996's Power Rangers Zeo (Season 4) and the start of 1997's Power Rangers Turbo (Season 5) TV shows (literally the first 3 episodes of Power Rangers turbo recap the events of T:APRM and get us acquainted with the new footsoldiers, villains and storyline of the season. namely; the 4 Zeo Rangers that became Turbo Rangers (Turbo Blue is a new character intro'd in the summer movie, replacing Zeo Blue in the new lineup due to events early in the movie sidelining the poor guy) graduating high school.
Animated Power rangers by Zagtoon should’ve been awesome like this could make cool merch
But this was inspired by Miraculous
Little fun fact there's a live-action tv series that's kind of similar to Power Rangers and the Japanese version Super Sentai which if i'm remembering correctly came out before Power Rangers did and the similar tv series is called Big Bad Beetleborgs oh yeah and there are monsters in it based off of the Universal Monsters like Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein and many others oh yeah and Big Bad Beetleborgs ran from 1996-1998
you mean the show adapt from b-fighter and b-fighter kabuto from metal hero series same company own super sentai right

Would love to see you do an analysis of the cancelled show, Infinity Train
YES, especially when we're talking about book 3 👀
@@baravanka Absolutely! I really would love to see this show return!
When I was a kid power rangers was all we talked about in kindergarten. It got banned after my best friend broke his arm trying a flying side kick off the top of the jungle gym. There was a short time when TMNT replaced power rangers. I watched the show until around 6th grade. I watched both movies when they hit VHS. Got power rangers turbo on VHS for Christmas.
As one who has watched all things Power Rangers with my brother (who heavily delves into Super Sentai since 2011, I just dabble, mostly great stuff) since we were kids in the late-1990s, this franchise is a family member. We also watch all things Marvel, DC, TransFormers, G.I. JOE, Disney, TMNT, etc.. The neglect of diverse mediums to present Power Rangers through makes *ZERO* percent sense! Early on, Marvel and DC tried cartoons and live-action and did not stop even when they were subpar, and went to making video games of varying quality for any platform, side-scroller, 3D adventure, team on the same field like 'Teen Titans' and 'Justice League: Heroes'. Power Rangers tried two movies. When Disney got hold, where the heck was even one movie? Disney released subpar and high-grade movies at that time quite a bit. Nothing but ridiculousness stopped them from making a movie based on a season but maybe set in it's own universe like the 1995 movie, or it's own thing entirely. Video games for TMNT went from arcade to evolved co-op, 3D level team play. Nothing logically stopped Power Rangers from doing that in a better way than the Super Legends game did in 2007. The Zords/Megazords/giant monsters were *RIPE* for a 'War of the Monsters'/'Godzilla: Save the Earth'/'R.A.D. (Robot Alchemic Drive)' style gameplay. Why the hale were they so limited in the DinoThunder and Super Legends games. The aforementioned Kaiju/Mecha games are all from the 2000s BEFORE 2004 when DinoThunder released *WHICH DIDN'T LET US PLAY THE POWER RANGERS!* The Power Rangers Fighting game, Legacy Wars is cool but still limited.
Regarding this franchise I was not there for all, but I have been around for enough to see that, not really in terms of behind-the-scenes per se, but the point of Power Rangers is seemingly too pure and powerful to diversify just right. Arguably, the most diverse franchise in terms of people of different ancestries and women being superheroes and leaders with diverse personalities and true friendships has the least diverse business decisions. Even that AAA Power Rangers video game with members of different teams in one game kinda like Marvel's Ultimate Alliance meets Mass Effect... *GOT CANCELLED FOR NO APPARENT REASON!* Wanting better for this franchise is like waiting for the MCU to live up to their equality quota with female villains being adapted more as, ya know villains. Well over 50 of them yet male villains from 1 comic or few comics get to be Big Bads (Aldrich Killian, Darren Cross, Kaecilius, Arthur Harrow, Dar-Benn)... In the words of Turk from 'Scrubs'; IT AIN'T RIGHT!
0:25 He who shall not be acknowledged.
Awww hell.... What'd he do?
Power Rangers could copy another page from Sentai's book - the most recent few seasons have seen the return of past rangers to battle alongside the newest team.
Most recently in Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger we've seen the return of Go-On Red (Ranger Operator Red), ToQ#1 (not yet adapted) and ToQ#6 (also not yet adapted, but Ressha Sentai ToQger was 10 years ago. I feel old).
Whatever they adapt next, we could have footage from Power Rangers 10 years ago.
Oh wait. It was Megaforce / Super Megaforce. Never mind...
A Super Sentai/Power Ranger anime would be pretty cool and would DEFINATELY get more people to watch it ( I know several people who won't watch anything unless it's animated ).
The Megazord Head looks a bit like a Starscream design. But I seriously can't remember which one.
An animated series focusing around a NEW team of rangers would be more interesting rather than re-doing Mighty Morphin. As they would have way more freedom to do what they want without the weight of comparisons being pressed on them. Also if we're no longer going to have live action Power Rangers, that could free up Super Sentai to start doing official dubs, much like what Ultraman has been doing in recent years on TH-cam. Sure we would lose some of the fun of adaption and adding it to the larger ranger lore, but we would get to see more of the original sauce material available to a wider audience.

All of the animations in the cancelled film like the pose roll call and the combination sequence is reused in Miniforce X, made by SAMG Entertainment, this means that the human models are made from Zag, pretty much a start of a co-production with Toei to make Miraculous Ladybug or after
so in japan they recenlty put up a sailor moon musume. here in the us there alout of unuseul musmes guess hasbro dont want that but at least try and contact the past cast rangers and give them thire repective helmets. me personally it would be nice to have the shadow ranger's sowrd
I’d go for 2d animation and the art would be like Voltron Legendary Defender
15 years ago, I signed autograph from actress Kimberley Crossman who played the first female Red Ranger Lauren Shiba in Power Rangers: Samurai.
Strangely enough, i think that reboot where rita was being portrayed as the original green ranger was a good idea. The zords were good. The concept was great. But im sorry Rita, just "technically" eating/consuming gold and "pooping out "goldar"?
I was even feeling the zords fight with Goldar. Just that one aspect.
Even that Goldar was fine. I mean, it could have worked, but I know no one wants to hear it.
"Timeline break" where either rita/timeforce villain actually does something to the grid, causing the split into that reality. It's not phenomenal, but it's workable.
The BOOM comics did a good story, bringing together both familar MMPR and newer seasons, with concepts from Super Sentai teams that we never actually saw the Power Rangers equivilent of.
I’ve said for years, power rangers would lend itself to animation very well
5:54 Rogue from Xmen 97 Aaah pose
I've never read the comics, but I know that the illustrations are beautiful. If there ever was an animated series, the style should be somewhere between the comic books and slightly anime in my opinion, since PR is basically already a live action Mecha anime.
I love seeing videos like this from the wild (somewhere on TH-cam other than a TH-camr that focuses on Power Rangers), makes me feel like nobody’s sleeping on Power Rangers whether that’s actually true or not.
its kinda insane how there hasnt been a cartoon about power rangers
I will die on the hill that people that are this over enthusiastic about Mighty Morphin either didn't watch or remember Mighty Morphin as well as they think they did, or they literally never watched another season. Tommy alone is the most single handedly overhyped character in history, with him historically in canon being much more of a failure than a hero (The Ranger teams lost every big battle of the season under his leadership thrice, he lost 3 sets of Powers and gave up the fourth, and on his grand return season he is frozen and or useless for half of it)
If Power Rangers needed to draw out inspiration from other seasons, they should do it from In Space, Lost Galaxy, Light Speed Rescue, Time Force or RPM, which do and introduce the most interesting stuff for their canon. SPD isn't a far off sixth season to do it from.
I grew up with Wild Force onwards. I watched MMPR a few months ago as a adult. Season 1 and 2 were absolutely unbearable to watch. Season 3 is when it became interesting but it was still bad overall.
I feel like some animated ancillary media would have helped in boosting the popularity & flesh out the world more. Like show off some of the adventures of characters that didn’t get much spotlight in the main series, like Alien Rangers, Phantom Ranger from Turbo & Omega Ranger from SPD.
That movie looks pretty neat though. Has a fun art style. Shame it didn’t work out.
And yeah, they milked MMPR way too much than necessary. There’s more parts of the franchise people love outside of MMPR, you know. Like I grew up with Wild Force being my first season. Let’s give non-MMPR seasons a chance too.
I doubt the main Power Rangers series will be gone for good. I feel like it might come back someday. That’s what happened with Godzilla & Kamen Rider, went on hiatus for several years & came back later. So maybe the main series will come back someday based on that, probably to cash in the nostalgia for it. Also there was another pretty big auction for PR props & costumes years ago when Disney owned the brand, but that didn’t stop PR from continuing one day. So I feel like there’s still a chance for this part of the franchise.
The monster looks to me like a redesign of Silver Horns, which I remember from a MMPR: The Fighting Edition.
Well if Power Rangers is done at least we still have Super Sentai.
Animated Power Rangers could also provide crossovers that live action couldn't do for legal reasons. And provide new zord combinations that couldn't be pulled off due to different seasons, like when Beast Morphers combined the three dinosaur teams weapons.
I actually love to see it animated as they say can do some action live action cant do and love the first because of my childhood. I rewatched it as a adult(2 episodes) and they mostly jumped around, the more modern fight were realistic.
Still love power rangers. I wish we got this, imagine if the og cast came to reprise their roles as voice actors. Well, who was left at the time. Iirc this was before JDF died but well after Truy passed away. A Miraculous Ladybug and Cat Noir crossover would have been cool. Hawk Moth teaming up with Rita Repulsa and eventually she steals his Butterfly Miraculous to power up her own monsters.
Well let’s hope whenever that deal negotiations of who steams Power Rangers is finish we might actually get an animated series or movie one day.
I heard they wanted to do their own thing/ reboot after cosmic fury, so idk if its actually “over”, but on a indefinite hiatus is more probable
Better yet, why can’t Power Rangers be based off of new themes rather than copying everything from Japan? Maybe a Rangers team with a Monster theme, or a team based on Vikings?
The current Super Sentai and Kamen Rider series are both pretty good, maybe Hasbro should pay more attention to what Toei's doing in Japan. They don't need to go back to adapting the japanese series, but they should at least use them as research material for what does and doesn't work. There's a lot of cool concepts american companies are afraid to use but that work really well there, maybe it's time to take more risks.
The animation and character designs look good, but Power Rangers is first and foremost a tokusatsu, so animation wouldn't really work (something that the people currently running Power Rangers seem to forget)
I also don't trust Hasbro currently with making a good animated Power Rangers show. An animated movie maybe? If ILM made it who did Transformers One and Ultraman Rising it could be good. But those movies also didn't really become break out hits either. At least Ultraman Rising showed they can translate a toku property into animation well. And they threw in some Power Rangers easter eggs. But Power Rangers also really needs strong marketing behind it to get people to watch it.
@FireFury190 I fail to see how Ultraman Rising could possibly be good, especially after that trailer. Although I will admit, SSSS.Gridman was enjoyable.
@ It’s good. Fans loved it. Don’t judge a movie just from one trailer. Don’t be like the people who scoffed at TF One after its first trailer only to realize the movie was actually amazing.
@@FireFury190 TF1 didn't make the characters look lanky

oh there is an animated Power Rangers series.
it's called Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go!
also, based Hang Castle from Sonic Heroes.
I remember watching that cartoon in my late elementary years and early teens, but know I think Monkey Team was clearly inspired by '60s anime, especially Cyborg 009, which coincidentally was created by Shotaro Ishimomori, who also created Kamen Rider and later Super Sentai which is the basis for Power Rangers
I've been studying concept art and character design for almost 2 years now, and I had an idea to create an animated series based on Power Rangers that might have 8-10 episodes per season (I have a story developed but not yet finished). However, I'm afraid and unprepared to launch a TH-cam channel where I can share those episodes for free. Help what should i do🥲
i would've loved this. i want more 90s mmpr things to come out. animation would've been an amazing way to go. the live action 2017 movie just dropped the ball.
The monster from the trailer looks like something based from the season 2/Dairanger era. But which one I couldn’t tell you, it looks too generic and place holdery.
Honestly I’d be down for an actual animated series/special. I’ve seen so many parodies at this point it makes total sense to have an official one at some point.
I feel like the problem with Power Rangers is that the company doesn’t know if they should go with the mature route or if they should stick with the very corny (or quippy) as it originally was. I think going animated is the best way to possibly revive the series.
A good number of Toku series already got one or more animated series that ended up ranging from meh to good to sweet. From GARO to Kamen Rider to lately Ultraman.
I'm still surprised that TOEI didn't make their own Super Sentai animated show.
I think an animated series and a live action series will appear in the near future
At least we have that cool looking beat-em up game that's coming out, I'm hoping it's good.

I honestly would have liked an animated retelling of Power Rangers.
They should see to get a Japanese studio to make a Power Rangers anime, and make it come back full-circle.
1:08 that is not SPANDEX!

I've been a Power Rangers fan for a very longest time but I remember watching through the Saban era to the Disney Era to the Neo-Saban Era and I did watch the current seasons of the Hasbro Era which was great 👍 I mean the Super Sentai side has a ton great seasons and there was alot of hidden Rangers and Zords and plenty of team-ups that didn't happen in the Power Rangers side universe even some seasons that were skipped from adaption which would've been awesome to see..
I just uploaded a video about this topic recently. If Power Rangers is gonna continue to live on, it needs to delve into different avenues. It needs to evolve. Sentai will always be an important part of the franchise. But who says we can’t have an animated series?
4:06 Maybe the seasons after Season 1 were lame?
In one, they all drive cars, and their cars combine into a significantly less giant robot than their dinosaurs did.
And their morph-suits are vehical-theamd, decorated with bits of vehicles, like policecar sirens on their heads and bulldozer-claws as hand weapons.
In one season, their magic artifacts aren't medallions or coins or jewels, but guns. They summon their zords by loading multicolored glowing bullets with archaic symbols carved into them. Then they spin the barrels, not by hand, but by rubbing the barrels over their bodies, then posing with the guns. Teenagers with attitude, who f*ttishize guns!
There were seasons that were more enjoyable, but not in any way that's easy to admit or justify in front of a room full of executives and investors.
I got into Power Rangers from ground level with season 1 back in the '90s, though, I didn't stick with it once they changed everything (new cast, new zords, etc...).
That said, I could get into Power Rangers again if the new show was a throwback aestheticly. And I mean, make it look like Saved By The Bell meets Voltron (the '80s version).
I'm not saying it has to be the season 1 Power Rangers; make it all new, but make it unapologetically retro to the max, with sweet synth sounds, lasers, sparkles, pastels and neon!
Also, stick to practical effects as much as possible, even if it's obvious and cheesy; I love the cheese.
Oh, and make it campy! I'd hate it if they tried to make the show edgy. blegh..
So, animated PR is a thing that can be done. It can. The stuff tokusatsu does could prob be done way easier in animation. -BUT-, it wouldnt be as special. Like you can do any stop motion movie in handdrawn or CG animation. But that's not the point. Toku and stop-mo are impressive because they do what hand and CG animation can prob do easier, but still excels inspite of that. Stunt ppl showing off their impressive skills, putting life and limb in the line to do so. Pyrotechnicians, fight coreo', costume design. Even the specific flavor of cheese is different between an animated face, and a real human hamming it up. So yea, you ~ can ~ animate PR, and it could do cool stuff, but it wouldnt have the same magic.
It's been a long time since I bothered to follow Power Rangers. For me, the show basically went out on a high note with 2009's Power Rangers RPM before that whole "reversioning" of MMPR thing happened and I stepped away.
I did just spend hours organizing, converting and tweaking my recent Humble Bundle acquisition of the BOOM! Studios _Mighty Morphin Power Rangers_ comics, though. I'm a bit late, but I'm really enjoying them so far.
As far as the "Mighty Morphin Pandering" goes, I think the main issue is that Saban has only ever had a very superficial understanding of why the show was successful, so they're also just superficially copying aspects from the original like bits from the theme song and some particularly tired tropes.
The comics seem to have done a much better job by creating what a kid in 1994 might have _imagined_ that the show was, but much better than anything the live action show could have ever delivered.
I think the problem is the idea that it "floundered ever since" isn't really true. Ironically it really started floundering in the 2010's when Saban bought the brand back of Disney and tried to make all the new seasons ape Might Morphin's style, but only captured what was cornball or outdated about it rather than any of the actual merits of it.
Ultimately Saban (and later Hasbro) failed to grasp that what actually enabled the Power Rangers to endure beyond Might Morphin in the first place, was that the show was able to grow beyond what Mighty Morphin was.
I remember Disney attempting to an animated sequel to Power Rangers SPD
aren't the powerrangers in the adult animated series Captain Laserhawk?
They need to do an animated power rangers hyper force, and missed unadapted sentais, that also being said, make it a longer series than just 1 season
I think Hasbro is testing the waters with TF One, which is why they didn’t appear in the Hasbro logo
power rangers mentioned, instantly clicked
