Do you remember your first step class? How did that go? I remember mine in the living room when I was about 13 with my Mom and Jane Fonda!
I remember getting my first step in like 1990, and it came with a tape by Brenda Dycraaf? It was called a super step, it was like a different model. I loved that tape!
I did step at home with VHS tapes! My now 22 year old was a toddler and thought it was hilarious to hit fast forward in the middle of my workout.
HAHH That is too cute@@dyanaprinze
My first step class was in a gym, I could only do the first few tracks at the start and worked my way up! So much fun!
My first step was tv with Gilad 😄
Loving your 30 min classes. ❤ 🌼
As always you provide a successful 30 mins for me. Thank you! 🙏🏼
Thanks so much Christina! I started the day feeling very low and tearful. I have so much to do around Christmas time! You have made me feel much better, and ready to face a busy day. I love your attitude, and your brilliant workouts! And then there is that lovely smile! Thank you again. 🥰 xx
YOU ARE AMAZING!! I want you to tell yourself that even when you do not believe it!!! We all try our best, and I know how those dark days can feel!! YOU WILL get through them❤️❤️❤️
😇❤xx
Thank you so much 67 yrs young and I feel great
Great way to go back to the basics! Thank you for all of the encouragement to get through your classes, you're the best!
Your basic step workouts have gotten me back to step! My 64 year-old self is super content with staying basic. Thanks so much for providing the workouts and for your positive energy!
YAY!!!! Great job!!! I am so so proud of you!
Great class with positive vibes! The slower bpm helps me concentrate on my form. Thank you!
Thank you Christina. Use to so enjoy step when at the gym, looking to do step again and found you. ❤
I'm starting my journey with step aerobics, your workouts are great, and your positive attitude is contagious! Thanks!
I loved your tip at the beginning before you’re ready. Come another day to change your approach: “ I can’t yet”. This was amazing ❤. Thank you Chris !!!
YAY Thank you so much!
I was a step fanatic in my 40s, & 50s. Moved to to backwoods and spent my time homesteading...68 now ready to step again, just got my box and am ready to go! I found step is all about the instructor....girl you got it!!!!!!!! Thank you!!💙
WOOOO Welcome back to step Julie!! Thank you so so much!!!!
You rock Christina! Thank you so much for taking the time to make these and share!
Love the basic classes! I'm so happy you are bringing step back into my life! I miss when gyms offered it! We don't all enjoy box jumps!
Glad you like them! Thanks so much for joining me! I don't love box jumps LOL
I love that you take us back to basics as it's a chance for non beginners to focus on form or elevate our workout in some way. I've been doing the intermediate step workouts for a while now but used this beginner workout as a way to try step with a set of risers. It is amazing what a difference that can make. I worked up such a sweat!
Wonderful! Thank you Stacy!!
OMG! I got my 17 year old daughter to work out with me for the first time with Step and she did the whole class. You were perfect in your motivation. Plus, giving her permission to make mistakes, take breaks, and constant positivity was really a gift! If you could do a Taylor Swift beginner step, that would touch her heart! xoxoxo
WOOOOOO YAY!!! !That makes me so happy!!! I CAN ABSOLUTELY DO THAT!
Gin Miller introduced me to Step in the 80s.
LOVED HER!
Even though I love advanced step routines, I also love doing the basic workouts just as much. Sometimes I add a riser or weighted vest & sometimes I just enjoy a slower pace. So glad you offer a variety of step workouts that everyone can enjoy!
Thanks so much Marta!
I L O V E your classes Chris!!! ❤ Thank you for such a positive vibe!! Cheers from Portugal!! 😁
You're so welcome!
Doing your step videos are so much more fun than the treadmill. Thanks for your great instruction, and the awesome workouts!
I am so thankful for your videos Christina!
I do the basic steps but I love that you have more than one and also different durations. It gives me options and also if I am very tired or busy I pick the 15 mins basic one and still feel good. Thank you again
And this Chris, is the exact reason why we all love you! We all started here! And you always asked us to do our best! Over and over! Your kindness, patience, hard work and encouragement got us to where we are now! And that makes us feel good about ourselves!
You are Extraordinary!!!❤️💪🏻
Thanks so so much Paula!
very great basic step.....😊❤thx dear chris....i did it today in the morning before beginning my work in my garden😊❤
Wonderful! Thank you!
Another great class for those of us getting restarted! My first step class was in 1989 at Spangdahlem Air Base Germany. The wife of one of my wife's coworkers convinced us to try it, as she was the instructor, and we have been hooked ever since. A few breaks here and there - deployments, work, moves, etc, but we still try. And we are still in touch with that instructor as well. She no longer teaches, but she is a triathlete. Thank you for bring the fun back!
WOOOO YAY!!!! I am so happy you enjoyed it!! LOVE this story!!!!
Loved this workout! It was perfect for those of us in the beginning-to-be-advanced category. 😂 Thank you so much!
Thank you!!! ❤❤❤ more like this one for newbies 🎉
Thanks so much for hanging out with me!! I have a full playlist of beginner workouts!! Let me know if you need help finding them!
Loved this workout! Keep this type coming and I liked the time countdown in the corner. Motivational to me!!
Loved this!!!! 🙏🏻
Hola los hice y no cabe duda que siempre se aprende mucho, gracias Cristy Dios contigo.
This was exactly the workout I needed today! I love that you give us so much variety. Something for everyone at their own level. And when I say that I don’t just mean someone who is a beginner, advanced, etc. I mean whatever your level is right now, today. I recently pulled a muscle pretty bad and I didn’t listen to my body. I tried to push through. “I got this. I’m tough.” But you know what, that toughness almost got me a surgery. I took time off-really took time off. I rested it, iced it, and made the commitment to ease back into it. Thanks for pushing us when we need it, but reminding us to be smart and safe at the same time.
thank you! I am beginning to like step classes
YAY!!!!!
You got a timer! Yay! Thank you!
Fast basic/intermediate is my favourite! I enjoy the more simple choreography and the faster pace. Add another riser or big arms to raise the heart rate….. thank you Chris!
Great tip! Thanks Patti!
Love basic classes to get my steps in on tough lower body strength days. Thank you!
Thank you!
Spot on with your comment about needing this type of step some days. Not to be all sad but my husband was diagnosed with cancer in August, my exercise routine and food selections have taken an enormous hit. Today I got up at the butt crack of dawn, scrolled through your videos, this one was absolutely perfect for me to get back on it. I went from doing some kind of workout 5 days a week to 1-2 when I could squeeze them in. Thank you for this and thank you for your vast library of videos and your positive encouragement! 🧡
Good morning Colleen!! I hope your husband is doing ok❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!
Today is the very first step aerobics session I've ever done. I'm 62 y.o. but in fairly good shape. I've been doing Pilates for 17 years. This was quite the workout though!. I was using my raised Tower mat as my bench/platform which didn't work very well (my step bench is on order). The Tower bench is too wide and is padded; it's also about 5 feet long so that was an issue too. However, I completed the 30 minutes and was able to follow most of the moves (it was a good thing I closed the door and the window blinds) but it was not pretty at all. It will take me a lot of time to figure this out. I had fun and I will keep coming back for more!
Thank you Christina for making your videos available.
Hey Chris. I so appreciate your step workouts. They remind me of college days-- in the 90s!! -- although there are so many more interesting moves now. Your videos keep me motivated to exercise. TY for being so encouraging and for all of your amazing content!!
Thank you so so much!
🎉🎉I feel great and accomplished for making it through. Few steps missed but that's not a problem. Thanks Chris ❤
56 yrs young and this was my first step class! Thank you for making it fun. You are so right…. good for the brain. I also appreciate the music and audio quality!!
YAY!!!! Welcome Yvonne!! I am so happy you enjoyed it!!! FYI, some of my older workouts don't have the best sound quality...it took me forever to figure out good audio!! LOL
This is my fav basic step. ❤. Love all ur basics. Thanks for sharing
You're so welcome!
❤❤❤ awesome teacher, just so encouraging and helpful 😀
Thank you so so much Fran!!!
A great sweaty 30 min workout!
Thank you so much
Just finished! Great workout!
I've started learning step with your videos and they are so great, so easy to follow and challenging too. Thanks a lot from France 🎉
🩷 finally feel i mastered the merry-go round 🎉🎉 thanks Chris
Basic is good too!
Fun routine, went double risers and a good workout!!!! but most importantly mu husband did it with me!!!! First step-class ever, he liked it! and we even rewinded and did an extra 10 minutes.
thanks for having so many options💛
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
I love beginner step workouts! I am by no means a bigger, I was working out with Gin Miller on my deck when step first became popular, but beginner step is always a way for me to add risers and challenge myself to make the movements bigger. I love the fact that your beginner workouts are easy to modify in order to make them more challenging. Thank you!
WOOOO Thank you so so much!
Slow and basic was exactly what I needed today! Sometimes I even find it harder, because I have to work on my balance. Thanks Chris!
RIGHT!!! Exactly!! Thanks so much!
Love the basic step workouts for getting some steps in. They’re much more fun than just doing walking workouts and I really appreciate that no ads break in on me. Thanks!
Thanks Linda!!!
Génial. Merci
❤ excellent ❤ basically just what I needed. Only downside to this workout was no Lois!!!!! I need my Lois fix. The Cat Tia 😻 is jealous.
HAHAAHH He was kidnapped by Grandmom!
The instructor is so encouraging! Went back for round two of this class, feeling brave, so I threw in a riser... and wow, that little block of plastic took me DOWN. 💪😂
First day back after 4 days of migraine. Thank you for this, I feel so much better for doing it!
And I only fell over the bench once 😂😂🎉
It is a beginner step workout or not but I enjoyed it so much. Very well choreographed with water breaks in between. The icing on the cake was a glimpse of your doggie pal during the cool-down. So cute. Thank you for making the workout so doable.
Awe thank you so so much!!!!!
I’m advanced but with the risers made me sweat! Just love everything you do! ❤🥰
Love that! Thank yoU!
Thank you in the most abundantly way .. so many thank youssss first step class I completed..your an awesome teacherrrr....
YAY!!! GReat job Kathleen!!! Thank you so much for joining me!
This may be basic but I was sweating. I had a hamstring injury and I'm finally on the mend. This is a good class for getting back into it!
Great workout , if I can do this anyone can, really got my sweat on. Love this video for beginners 😅
Great job Liz!
This was great for me today… I feel like my cardio has been suffering a bit lately, but I’m still a bit worried about doing a faster paced step in case I injure myself again. Instead I added a set of risers to this one and got a killer sweat on. Thanks so much for your reminder at the end of class that sometimes even as an advanced stepper it’s okay to go back because sometimes that’s exactly what we need…. It reminded me not to beat myself up about it… I’ll probably get back to faster advanced at some point, but if I don’t…. That’s alright too! 😻
Great job Stephanie!
I enjoyed the low key beginner step workout today. I remember being a beginner. I hated step and walked out of the class. I was so confused. With these beginner classes, even though I am more advanced I can keep practicing the moves. Thank you Chris!
Thank you so much for coming back and commenting! So happy you were live again!
I remember step but was always too scared to go! I, glad I did this online. Sometimes you need a change in workouts. It took me years to learn this about myself. Today I didn’t wanna workout but I found this and thought, “try this”. Glad I did. It was challenging to me and fun. 🎉
YAY!! I am so glad you did it too!!!!!!! Great job!!
I really enjoy these basic classes! I'm an advanced stepper but I have a lot of fun making up my own choreography modifications to go along with the routine. It adds an additional challenge to have to remember the cues and makes even a basic class mentally stimulating. Thank you for all you do, Chris!!
YAY! That is fun!!!
This was a great tutorial. I can remember when I started 1987 with Gin Miller’s instructional step video thought I was gonna die but still love step 36 years later!!
YAY!!! She was so awesome
Great class. I missed this live last week so I did it today since I missed today's live. With the slower pace, I can add a riser and I feel my legs are working a bit harder and I can really concentrate on better form and foot placement. Thank You.
Thanks Jackie!
Great workout!!!
Thank you!!
Thank you. chose this one today instead of the 60 minute one as still new to step although did it years ago at the gym. My step's too narrow so i could do the grapevine thing over the step as my to feet won't fit very well but I modified with a grapevine thing on the floor. Loved it and really sweating! xo
I’m advanced, but added some risers to make it more challenging and it was a super way to start my day! Thanks again Chris ❤😊
Awesome!!!!
This was great! I wanted an extra challenge so I added a riser- holy guacamole!! My booty is sore and it was challenging and I loved it. You are the best!! So glad I found you- please don’t ever leave us❤❤
Excellent!
Loved it I did this with a weighted vest 😅 xxx
Perfect!
I can't do the faster bpm classes because of the speed not choreography...so I took your advice and got a weighted vest that made this class much more intense.. thankyou...more of these and longer classes please😊.
Wonderful!! Thanks so much!! There are over 300 step workouts on my channel and they are sorted into playlist to help you find more like this❤️
I was already thinking of my comment when you said exactly what I was going to say! I'm a pretty seasoned stepper now although my favourite isn't Advanced but I love Fast Basic & or Intermediate Step however it's always good to go back to basics. Today I just wanted a more simple routine at a slower pace as I'd been running around all over the place & this class was absolutely perfect. I couldn't resist doing a sprinkler though instead of the triple knee lol & due to the slower pace I was able to work on my kicks which were pretty high! Thanks Chris, this really was a fabulous class ❤
You got that right Penny!!! That is what I love about you and this community, you do YOU!! Add some flair, take it away and just have fun with it!! YOU ROCK!
Thanks so much
You're welcome!
I knew this might be a little too slow for me so tried to make it work better for my needs. I started by increasing the speed but thought it might be too fast. Side note, You sound good like a chipmunk Chris. 😂 I then decided to add risers to my step. I have been hesitant to do so because of ankle issues. I figured with it being basic and slower, I probably would be ok. I also made my arm movements big and boy, was my heart rate up. You would never have been able to guess looking at my workout details that I had done a basic 127 bpm workout. This is a good one for those thinking about adding risers to their step!
Great job!!!
I needed a shorter workout today after doing yard work earlier. I was introduced to step when my athletic club had a workout bingo. One had to try various classes to then get a prize. The instructors didn't sign the bingo paper until the end of the class. Boy, was I sweating after the class. I had trouble with many of the moves but I kept coming back and had help from others in the class. I still have to modify some of the more advanced moves as I get dizzy when turning, but I love step.
That is so funny! We used to have that bingo thing too! LOL!! I Love that you do it and you do you!! That is the best!! Thanks honey!
I remember the first time I came into contact with step, it was when my daughter made a step board in the crafts class at school in wood and what she practiced on it, then I started too and it was so much fun, I was excited, I remember. My daughter has actually been a step instructor, now I have inherited her old board and soon I have worn it out🤣🤣🤣🥰
WHAT!!?!?! LOL OMG!!! That is awesome!
My second step workout with you and I just love it so much. That over the bench move kept getting though. I will definitely be doing this one again this week - so much fun and a great little workout.
YAY!! Thanks for coming back to workout with me!!!
Been doing your step workouts for a couple years on/off, just returning after MANYMANY months off. Had gotten to fast intermediate, but #justcannnt atm. Love the basics, love being reminded that my brain also got out of shape, love not having to leave the house when it's icy outside, love the flashback component to those fun step aerobics classes at 24-hr Fitness back in the '90s. (These are so much better, shhh.) Thank you for these classes!
WOOO Welcome back!! Thank you so much!❤️❤️
Back at this after 30 years. I love that it takes some concentration, keeps the ADHD occupied while working out
YAY!! So happy you are back to stepping!! YOU ROCK!
A truly basic class. It Reminded me when Step was introduced by Gin Miller. The pace was slow and i was able to do the super high kicks (think chorus line level).
Thank you so much!!! HAHA, I love a high kick!!
I.got.a.bit muddled up with the across the bench at first but i got it in the end!
Happy new year Christina I just started step middle of nov after I found your videos not looked at anyone else . Your videos are great and the encouragement you give is amazing thank you. Looking to get fit this year so will definitely be looking at more of your videos. Fee x
Thank you so so so much!!!!! I am so happy to have you with us!! ❤️❤️❤️
Today is Diwali which is the biggest festival in India ... I was going to skip workout but then had misgivings about all that I would be eating today and decided to do a class 😊 Happy Diwali 🪔 it's the festival of lights
Thanks for sharing I was lucky enough to join a Diwali Celebration with a client and few years ago and it was so wonderful!! I hope you have a beautiful celebration!!! ❤️❤️❤️thank you for working out with me
Okay - I love to do a variety of your step, but why do I feel so out of "shape/breath" with step 🤣🤣gotta love it!!
It's been a long time, maybe she was 12 years old, now she's about to turn 40, but the wooden step😍board can still be found and the "mother" got a modern board from her daughter
Enjoy doing the fun, basic step workouts as I can add a set of risers. If it wasn't for your Learn Step tutorials and excellent instructions and motivation, I would not have been able to master and enjoy step.
Thanks Deb! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
🎉🎉
Oh my goodness, you are awesome. I am going to be 58 years young in May and i do your steps before i go to work in the morning. Please tell me where i can find the wide step that you have along with that beautiful pink muscle top. I want to get one for my Birthday since i am toning up before then
Just a reminder that you don’t have to be advanced or fast to still get a sweat on!
You got that right!
I love a basic - I get the risers in for extra challenge. I keep trying the intermediate/advance but I don’t love them (yet…)
LOVE IT!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I do the Saturday step, why did this feel harder? Jane Fonda was where I started with step too!
HAH, It is hard to slow it down sometimes isn't it?!!
I'm doing now
You are also correct when you say that stepping is good for the brain. LOL
Love your basic video's. I was wondering if you can also do aerobics at 126-128 bpm? Because I tried beginner there and pfoeh it was too fast. Thank you!
😁
Sometimes you just need a slower basic workout!
Is Step good for bones?
It is not bad, but weight training is better
