I must give my thanks to this channel. Providing such high quality music and all for free. Thank you so much as I'm new to classical music, and it is an excellent source of inspiration especially for my writing. With no vocals or lyrics to distract the mind, the shifting narrative of the music informs what comes out in my writing.
Yes, that is correct. There is a video showing how this is done. A trained musician -located in the camera direction room- is reading the score as the orchestra plays. This is the way they know what instrument plays what and where to point the cameras at. The trained musician gives the order to switch between cameras at certain moments. It's great.
BRAVO !!! Saludos desde España
Phenomenal performance, from the first to the last bar! The best Mahler Fifth, past, present and future! Not even the Berlin Phil, Vienna Phil, New York Phil come close to this superb orchestra, helmed by a maestro with a great future!
One of the most impressive Mahler 5 intros.. He is sooooo great. He can play not only deep sounds but also sharp sounds in the high range.. Many players play this song's intro simply and neatly. But this player is wide, deep, and even play like pushing the tones that classical players hate. Very unique.
The best performance of the Mahler 5th I have ever heard. The camera work was outstanding. Showing the various musicians and their incredible talent. The applause was great but a SO was a must. What a fantastic symphony orchestra.
I have a question for you now. Do you still think this is your favorite perfomance? A lot of people around me just side with Abaddo, and I understand that he makes it clear and balanced, but Orozco-Estrada has a very suitable style for Mahler, in my view. What do you say?
@@dan-us6nk Agreed. Abaddo is great, but Orozco is just more suited for Mahler. To me Abaddo has a more fruity and punchy style while Estrada goes with an earthy and grim-grounded sort of take.

Very good interpretation. It is my particular opinion that the Adagietto is usually played TOO slow, bur this one comes out at the right tempo. Bravo for this Colombian conductor.
Probably right. Since Bernstein. It give it a more somber beauty. I like it but one is not force to play it so slow just because Mahler wrote "very slow". As you khow, you can never guess the intended tempo without a recording.
Mahler's own timing was around 8 minutes. Dragging it out is a mistake. Both Hermann Scherchen and Bruno Maderna's live performances stretch it to a ridiculous 15 minutes. And Scherchen even makes cuts in the Scherzo and Finale!
Muchas gracias Maestro!

This is the finest Mahler Fifth I have ever heard - surely the reference standard. Rich, musical, lyrical, and just plain LUSH, it's damn near the most perfectly realized Mahler ANYTHING I have ever heard (but the Klemperer/Wunderlich/Ludwig DLVDE still wears that laurel, at least for me).
The question is, should it be lyrical, or lush? It is in many ways a deeply tragic Symphony. Hence the first movements marking - "Trauermarsch" - or "Funeral march". Of course, it´s an interpretation matter, although I feel I really should put that out there.
