I think I said this in yesterday’s video but I can’t say it enough….I LOVE this idea!!! There will be so many lives this project is going to affect (positive). WOW!!!
I love this concept, I wish all communities would adapt this for all homeless people. I'm a senior and I'm so scared to retire because I won't be able to afford any rent or mortgage payments.
With rents rising the way they have I can understand your concern. I heard from a viewer about some church sponsored low income apartments that he got on a waiting list for. It could take a year or to to be called up, but that is something that may be an option for you. He said thr apartments he was on the list for were sponsored by the Presbyterian and Luthern denominations. Perhaps there is something like that where you live.
I think this is a great idea for many different situations like seniors wanting privacy yet independence . People with mental disabilities or in need of an independence! People needing group living situations could benefit, or sober living park life!
Wow, I'm amazed at how all things work together for the good of them that love the Lord! Pastor Slade u r truly Blessed and a Blessing to the people, So humble. I like what Pastor Slade and his church is doing. Many churches are seeking to help out low-income seniors. I myself, have my name on a waiting list for senior apt in Florida owned by the Presbyterian church. I am aware of a few similar apts ( small studio, large studio and 1 bedroom) owned by the Lutheran and Presbyterian churches in Florida where the apt rent is from $475-$575 per month. The catch- waiting list. It could be 2-3 years to go to the top. And then you have to pass their interview. Nothing is guaranteed. Some hope perhaps.
This is good because homeless people who are serious about getting off the streets they can get a second chance and having a real address to start a new life. But only for the ones who are serious unfortunately half of them are not serious but the ones who are this is a great start for a second chance..
This really is an amazing idea and opportunity for not only currently homeless folks but also for people who are at risk for becoming homeless due to outrageous rents. It is an option for having a private living quarters while.living in a community which is something that many seniors may want to explore.
Thank God for these good people. I was pregnant escaping a violent environment and experienced homelessness. Had this opportunity been available to me at the time, I wouldn't have had to give my baby up for adoption.

Love this project going on. I sure hope more and more of these beneficial tiny home communities get off the fround soon. Yes, definitely a "God Thing" here, what a blessing. I am in New Mexico now traveling about. I was in Texas and outside taking some pictures in a very small town and a couple stopped to chat. They had recently moved from So Cal to Pamap, Tx. Through our conversation we discovered we were all Christians and when we exchanged first names, the wife's name was Adele too. It's like we were meant to meet up. I am loving meeting new people as I do my "van life" travel. Oh, and I saw a cute tiny house that was built up off the ground for rainy day occassions and they had a garden too, I immediately thought of you. I am at a library now so I will hang around for our Sat. chat today. Thanks for sharing this today!
I am so happy for you Adele. It sounds like younare learning about one of the best parts of van life travel and gatherings, the fabulous people you meet!
Just WOW! Ms. Carol you feature some of the most amazing human beings on your channel. Pastor Slade is a shining example of who I will aspire to be during these hard times and beyond 🙏🏾! He is walking the walk. I just tried to watch his sermons online but kept getting error messages on his videos but I’ll definitely work to figure it out so I can hear the messages through this amazing man. My son was born in San Diego and he always says he want to go back and visit his birthday place. When we finally go back, I will be sure to put on the itinerary to attend a service at Meridian Baptist! ❤
They must have community bathrooms and kitchen. Do you think that they can fit two bunk beds into the area if there are children. How many people will eventually be able to live here? Writing as I am watching so you are answering my questions. They have done a wonderful job with this project and I have many questions but I think I will contact them directly. Unfortunately I have a million ideas and thoughts for these tiny homes. Maybe I can reach out and help in my own way.
:) Again, WOW! Can only hope other cities do the same as well! KUDOS to all of you for sharing, and ALL THE BEST, especially to those that get to move in soon :) The WORLD needs so much more of this!!! Cheers :)
This is so wonderful to see. Housing for the homeless is so needed everywhere, especially Southern California. I think Tiny Homes are a very thoughtful, humane, and great option to transition homeless people, getting them into safe buildings in a safe environment, that allows them their own personal space that makes a positive difference even form having their own room in a building shared with others. It is my hope and prayers that others follow your model (along with a few others I have seen) in creating Tiny Home Villages for homeless people all over the country until there are no longer any homeless people.
Great project, with great intentions. // I've seen similar projects though, where it fell flat on its face, in Cali. Hopefully all these homes are zoned as such. If not, then the homeless would be better served if they were given vehicles and a membership card to Gold's Gym or somesuch. - Update... at 16:00... there is a discussion about how the city is approving this. That's wonderful.
Pastor Slade.oresentednthis to the city of El Cajon right from the start. The city council approved the project and it was inspected by city inspectors at each step of the process. Officials from both the city and county were present at the ribbon cutting ceremony so no problems in that regard.
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 - The zoning hurdle in these kinds of projects are the toughest. Good job. So far, so good. As long as they are not building slums... If so, then please consider giving them customized vehicles instead.
I'm here in 2024 and looked it up. I'm so happy to see it hasn't been destroyed by some vague ordinance of the city. I do wonder if they will allow small refrigerators since they give fresh produce to families if someone can have a mini refrigerator inside their cabin Thank you for providing a hand up!
Another even greater review, thanks! My imagination is going crazy as to what all can be accomplished if your mind, body, heart, & soul are into it!🤗...this is actually more than a community! i.e.,with the state's, municipalities etc...& other personal organizations involvements, overseeing all aspects of creating a healthy, substainable, & creative lifestyle for ppl that desperately needs it, in a world that's falling apart in many areas of our country! 🙏🏽...all the way for everyone involved! And of course for you also Ms Carol! This is pertinent info you're distributing for other parties who may want to consider doing likewise! "ENJOY YOUR SATURDAY" whether it just be resting or whatever!🤗...
Thank you TC. I hope this project idea is contagious and as you say serves as a model for other communities to work togeather to accomplish the greater good.
I've been working with the homeless Community for over ten years now it's a great idea but how does he expect there's no way to keep the food refrigerated once they get it can't you give him a hot plate and a mini refrigerator
There is a communal kitchen as well as bathroom and kitchen. That is one of the things that makes these little cottages so affordable.in adsition to the volunteer labor.
WOW..This is incredible. It looks like an affordable option for the rising homeless issue. Not sure how to address the drug and mental health issues on sites like this, but this has major potential. The only thing it needs is AC, too hot to sleep in alot of places. Also maybe an induction burner so the mom's could make or warm up 1 pot foods.
Don't get me wrong, I love this. But I hope there will be possibly tiny fridges and microwaves and some kind of compost toilet or whatever in each tiny house. Small children can't be expected to walk outside to use the toilet in the middle of the night, and it could be really hard for moms to go outside to get say, formula for a baby, while there are other children in the house. I'm hoping I just didn't see these answers in the comments. Even a dometik fridge, microwave and composting toilet needs to be in each home.
Actually not just women and children we need to care for men as well we live in a world where everything's based on women no more men we need to care for men as well that's very important because most men are left to their own devices that's not good they need help too..
@@margarethutchens5463 I'm headed the game I already live alternative Lee a lot of freedom and I live cheap and basically free I love it I have a camper van and I'm building a camper trailer to go with it I'm a minimalist and live alternatively just like my title says..
Yes, projects like this are needed for men also it just happens that Amikas, the organization planning out the cottage builds focus is on homeless women and children.
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 I understand that my love great video by the way and thank you for responding as you always do you are awesome yes I agree with you it's just that I watch it all the channels and I see a lot of it these homeless places are focused on women and kids and not men and that's why I thought to mention that I get it the world is changing towards women and not toward men anymore so I mean that's about it really..
If your homeless, addiction free, try these areas you tube it too. Not a place for moms or children. Pretty cheap and some free places to live at. South West Texas free places to live and very cheap places to live and buy land but No Utilities at all they have - solar - big water barrels. Another place Slab City located in Niland California a free place to live they do have a water service for a fee it's pretty reasonable. Propane and distilled water at the store is reasonable. When you say Free place to live it attracts of course some of the real bad people with addictions, wanted people that's making it tougher for all. Some places in Alaska use to pay people to live there it's not alot you tube it.
*The shower's should have toilets also. Everyone usually uses the bathroom before stepping into the shower. Or may need to. You have plumbing already, so.....* *I just think that's a fail not having them in there, especially in the handicap shower. You are making it so much harder on a handicap person not being able to go to the bathroom when taking a shower.* *Ask around and see how many people use the restroom as they are getting ready to shower.*
You really should invest in a microphone as some of your interviewees are hard to hear for me and I'm sure for other seniors. I do enjoy your videos though.
How about wheelchair accessible tiny homes?? How about doors wider? Tiny homes should be accessible for all people! Those steps make it impossible for wheelchairs!!!
I am sure that is something they will work on in future projects. They are just getting started. This is a learning process. Give them some grace for having the heart to even come this far.
Beautiful! This pastor is thinking about the homeless. However, I don't agree a senior should be working in the hot California weather. I could see how he was struggling breathing. Couldn't they get someone else to do the outdoor work? Sorry, if some consider me to be a party booper but I'm always concerned about the elderly.
Actually great that it is in California, especially sourhern california where rents are very high high and these women and children would remain on the streets but for this project!!
Not interested in California at all. I will skip watching this video...................... from the Ozarks on the houseboat on the lakes, swimming and fishing all day
You kind of missed the point. It is not about California, it is about what a group of dedicated kind and loving people can accomplish to help others. It is also about possible options for people who can't afford rent, especially senior women, and shows an affordable sleeping cabin and community concept that could be applied anywhere in the country for those who don't want to live in isolation as they age.
Wow, some people r So selfish, if it's Not about themselves, how it would directly benefit themselves, they actually Don't care! I feel very sorry for u and your mindset Shirley Griffin.
That’s amazing
An army of volunteers. What a fabulous idea brought to fruition.
Just WOW!
That would be lovely Lindy. I am sure they would love to hear from you.
:) Again, WOW! Can only hope other cities do the same as well! KUDOS to all of you for sharing, and ALL THE BEST, especially to those that get to move in soon :) The WORLD needs so much more of this!!! Cheers :)
I am truly excited about this project Marty too!!
It is my hope and prayers that others follow your model (along with a few others I have seen) in creating Tiny Home Villages for homeless people all over the country until there are no longer any homeless people.
oh i so want to do this!!!
That’s awesome helping homeless..
Great job!! Hope it all goes well.
*I hope you go back and do another video when it's done.* ♥️
This is an awesome plan. God bless this pastor.
What a blessing this Pastor and his volunteers are for these Women ❤
I'm here in 2024 and looked it up. I'm so happy to see it hasn't been destroyed by some vague ordinance of the city.
I do wonder if they will allow small refrigerators since they give fresh produce to families if someone can have a mini refrigerator inside their cabin
Thank you for providing a hand up!
Beautiful concept love this helping people.
This is wonderful. The paster is an incredible person to have built this community. ❤️
I've been working with the homeless Community for over ten years now it's a great idea but how does he expect there's no way to keep the food refrigerated once they get it can't you give him a hot plate and a mini refrigerator
There are refrigerators at the church and will be one in the security cottage. This is a first project. We'll see how it develops.
Absolutely wonderful! Continued blessings ❤
I don't see a restroom or any kind of cooking appliances what do they do for food
❤
wow, this is awesome
💗
So where is the bathroom? Mom has to leave babies locked in room to go to the bathroo m or take a shower??
Very jealous with how progressive the midwest and west coast states have been with amending zoning laws to allow tiny homes. This is awesome.
I didn’t see the video in full. I spoke too quick. I see the showering truck.
I LOVE THIS...EVERY STATE SHOULD DO THIS INSTEAD OF ALLOWING PEOPLE TO SLEEP ON STREETS BUT GO CRAZY OLIF A DOG IS FOUND ON THE STREET
How many ovens will be in the village?
This is kool, but where they have a bathroom and shower.
Are there toileting and showering facilities?
Don't get me wrong, I love this. But I hope there will be possibly tiny fridges and microwaves and some kind of compost toilet or whatever in each tiny house. Small children can't be expected to walk outside to use the toilet in the middle of the night, and it could be really hard for moms to go outside to get say, formula for a baby, while there are other children in the house. I'm hoping I just didn't see these answers in the comments. Even a dometik fridge, microwave and composting toilet needs to be in each home.
Mam Carol who is the name of the pastor.
Pastor Roland Slade.
Actually not just women and children we need to care for men as well we live in a world where everything's based on women no more men we need to care for men as well that's very important because most men are left to their own devices that's not good they need help too..
Good idea. Learn from Pastor Slade and go for it!
@@margarethutchens5463 I'm headed the game I already live alternative Lee a lot of freedom and I live cheap and basically free I love it I have a camper van and I'm building a camper trailer to go with it I'm a minimalist and live alternatively just like my title says..
@@skapunkoialternativeliving6522 I thought were commenting about working on a project like this for men who are down on their luck. My mistake.
You have plumbing already, so.....*
*I just think that's a fail not having them in there, especially in the handicap shower. You are making it so much harder on a handicap person not being able to go to the bathroom when taking a shower.*
*Ask around and see how many people use the restroom as they are getting ready to shower.*
You really should invest in a microphone as some of your interviewees are hard to hear for me and I'm sure for other seniors. I do enjoy your videos though.
Very exciting. El cajon gets really hot.
Is there any air conditioning? It sure is hot over there....
R they allowed a microwave in their cabin..I would donate a microwave for a cabin
😉
This is what churces should do.
Too bad it’s in California 😢
Maybe u would be deemed a Karen in today's world, or in school, a Diva. But I see you, as well as Most others, as a sinner who's eyes are closed! ..Praying for you,. 🙏🙏🙏
Where do you eat or cook and where iscthe bathroom and shower?????
