    Once again a huge thank you to Fractal Design for sponsoring this insanely corny video. We had fun making it. Those who have ever watched an annoying infomercial will catch the references otherwise.... whatever.

      Those are illegal in a lot of countries anyway (US and European Union included) So they can put all the stickers they want on there, they still by law are supposed to honor the warranty.

    • @SandeepLuthra
      @SandeepLuthra 6 ปีที่แล้ว +48

      Yea, but unless you take them to court, you'll get nowhere.

    • @amshermansen
      @amshermansen 6 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      Not correct - on both accounts.
      The EU warranty laws don't count closed loop coolers, but they DO count laptop and desktop parts. Just like how your graphics card can't have its cooler removed, but you can RMA a graphics card from a prebuilt PC.
      As for "not going anywhere unless you take them to court" remark... good thing we have consumer rights organisations who will do just that for you, which is why almost every retailer folds once you threaten them.

    • @EmBeeSeven
      @EmBeeSeven 6 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      It makes perfect sense. If you expand your loop and fuck it up, they aren't responsible for replacing your unit because it wasn't a problem with the product in it's original state.

    Just tried a custom loop with the s24. Set up exactly the same way but with no GPU route, only cpu.
    Well after hours of trying, the fluid will not flow around the loop. I have tried moving the resivoir and everything but there is not enough power to push the fluid around?
    Any suggestions please?

    Jay, Awesome video!
    Question: Can you run this system for a couple of months and then do a disassembly video to show if galvanic corrosion took place or not. The radiator is Aluminium, and, I think you used a copper of nickle/copper water block for the GPU and Fractal uses a copper cold plate for their CPU. Plus nickle plated copper barbs on a Aluminium radiator. Even with using an anti-corrosive coolant, I think it will make an interesting video and put all mixed metal water cooling questions to rest, any probably silence some haters along the way too. Keep pumping out more kickass videos!

      Been there, done that. Couple of months you'll not see an issue at all. Couple of years well that can be another story. I used Blue Asian formula antifreeze for months and everything was clean as a whistle before moving to all copper. People make me paranoid. I did have an AIO fail where the fluid lost it's anti corrosive properties, the aluminum rad suffered badly, the copper CPU plate on the other hand cleaned up nicely and looks new.

    • @Masterown35
      @Masterown35 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because it really isn't. I've never watercooled, never even built a custom PC in my life, and I can tell you this looks easy to do, given you have the correct mounts and such.
      Not to mention in my own personal opinion, a custom loop really doesn't seem that hard either(at least depending on materials used). Besides sourcing parts, the main thing with custom loops just seems to be the sequence in which it flows(again, that's my own personal opinion). Other than that, it really doesn't seem as difficult as you or anyone else makes it out to be.

    I have no problem it being a sponsored video, I thought it was informative, BUT... I didn't really like the fake laughs and applause and so on. I get the joke on infomercials but on a 12 minute video I found it quickly to be quite annoying. I also think this is not your kind of comedy Jay. I prefer your usual solo, self deprecating style of comedy. This comedy style would fit better in the short Fractal Design commercials that you and Kyle roll before your videos. Anyway it's also good to try something new and this is meant to be just constructive criticism.

    Loved this video...the humor was on point, and I was actually unaware that there were AIO coolers that could actually be expanded. I use a Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate S AIO which is just a 240mm rad cooler and wish I had went with the Fractal Design cooler because even though it costs a few bucks more, the fact that you can expand the loop to include a GPU makes the extra money worth it in this particular instance. I removed the stock Thermaltake fans though and use EK Vardar fans though just to get much better static pressure but it's probably giving me diminishing returns at this point since the CPU is overclocked to 4ghz (Ryzen 1700).

      www.fractal-design.com/home/product/water-cooling/s36 check key features..Expandable system. Just open it up to get the full benefits of custom water cooling, with the ability to add any components you want to the loop, such as a graphics card cooler...

      Doesn't void warranty. That AIO is expandable out of the box. Do your homework before posting.

    How to void your warrantee 101. (Yes you will void your s36 warrantee by doing this, even though it's an advertised feature)
    This is literally an open loop with the pump on the cpu block vs the bottom of the res. Sorry but this is really, really bad. The predator was an insanely better option, as it actually had an ecosystem around it and was actually easy for your non pro liquid cooler to use (qdc is awesome). Also promoting mixing metals?????????????????????
    You should be ashamed of this video Jay. This is an insult to everything you've done on this channel.

      I'm pretty sure he was using the gpu block from the EK fluid gaming lineup and the fittings that came with it that are all aluminium. But yeah, still he promoted it by using coolant that's designed for mixing metals.
      This video really tries to make this approach look easier than a standard open loop with soft tubing. It certainly is cheaper but not easier by any means. Also when going full open loop you usually don't run into the problems with mixing metals like in this case. And for absolute beginners the EK predator with qdc and the ecosystem around it is definitely the better buy like you already mentioned.

      James Mastroianni you need to smoke weed flappy. Your ass is too uptight even for 1/4 tubing.

      As far as I know fractal still warranties their components even if you do this. Like if the rad or pump fails they will warranty it.

    Hey Jay, I've been looking into custom water loops for a little bit now, but just recently I've come across the Kraken Z73. I'm obsessed with the look of their CPU block and haven't been able to find something quite as good (I know asus has something similar but the square screen in a circle block is just offputting). Now the reason I bring this up is I'm wondering if you've ever modified an AIO with non-barb fittings? Anyway, thanks and great video!

  • @deedoubs
    @deedoubs 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is an AIO pump usually powerful enough to handle this sort of scenario or is that a good reason to favor building a full custom loop instead of starting with the AIO in the first place?
