Okay, while I appreciate that Beyonce can sing, I've never thought much of her. She has half of her head sucked into a fan and she's still singing while people are trying to get her out. I get why she's called Queen B now.
I love how kind you are. You have to be one of the most pleasant people (especially in the world of singing/vocal artistry) that I have ever seen. I miss lessons/coaching since I graduated with my music degree. I would feel so comfortable learning from a teacher like you. I've never heard someone assess mistakes with such kindness and empathy. (including actual technical/artistic mistakes).
For Mariah, it was during the "snake era" her manager was awful and almost ruined her credibility even her career. She was just taking advantage of her money and power. And during that time she was in a very bad place and her voice in very bad conditions, she seemed always drunk and ( probably doing drugs too) , you can actually see that a little in her TV reality show. Also there was her bipoloraty disorder that she spoke about later. So that's why. Because there's a video on Mariahxlambily showing how she has always handled very well stages problems like those ones during all her career. So yes she could have handled this one very well too. But she wasn't herself at all at this time. Like she called it " the rocky road ". But well she's in a very good place now😊☀️
@Francisco Delgado The lambily were not mad at all, watch the concert. There were so many good live moments, she looked and sounded relaxed and happy, and the lambs were laughing so hard and having so much fun watching Mariah throwing jokes and acting silly. It was a good night :D

Mariah was high as hell during that first clip. She could not hear herself during half of that song. The rest of the show was pretty good. Same with the second performance. There was too many very VERY loud speakers. In a video recorded by one of the fans in the audience we can hear that some speakers were playing the song like a broken cd, other parts had too much echo. So she couldn't even hear the right part of the song on the stage. The saddest part is she still suffering from that episode. She's extremely afraid to perform in front of cameras. We can always hear how nervous she is.
Doesn't she do soundchecks to identify problems like this before it goes live? It just seems unprofessional all around, especially the fact that she was high.

In Mariah’s defense, the dancer only need to hear the beat and they know the tempo so they carry on knowing the tempo and how the steps go, but with singing she needed to hear the notes, at least the key and specially hear herself on top of all that people screaming! I heard the audience footage and it was a weird sound, seems like it had a reverb on the track, it was not well done, totally not her fault. At least she came back the other year and sang live in the freezing cold!
Next year she sang completely live in that freezing cold, I wish more people knew about that. People always look at an artists worst moments instead of their bests

I can forgive some lip-syncing if they’ve gone all out on other aspects of the show (like Britney Spears does) or if they’re on a long tour and don’t want to damage their voice by overusing it. I never understand why Mariah does it though.😩

I hate that most people are stuck on the Rockefeller 2014 (when literally a week later, she sounded phenomenal on her AIWFCIY Tour opening night) /NYE 2016 fiascos (a year later she sang 100% live in -15 F degree weather and sounded amazing). People need to watch her 2018-2020 performances (Caution World Tour and Asia Tour specifically) to see that she still has her 5 octave vocal range and can sound very similar to her “past voice”. For Fantasy, the original song was used as a background music while she improvises but her mic went on and off... Notice how her mouth is not following the original song.... The Mariah thing in new year's eve was due to her missing her in-ears, so the track, the backing track was audible for the dancers to dance, but she didn't have her ears to hear her own voice, and didn't have regular voice monitors, all she could hear was the feedback from the main speakers, which you know are always delayed and a nightmare to try to sing to... her back-up singers weren't on stage with her either, they were placed somewhere else, so she had nowhere to turn... that was awful for her! and she was so vilified by the incident, nobody understood what really went on...
Mariah could hear herself fine. The problem was that the backing track with her pre-recorded vocals didn’t play. Most of Mariah’s performances now include pre recorded vocals due to how much her voice has deteriorated.

I thought it was a go to when it wasn't a call and response. I've seen many singers just point the microphone toward the audience and the audience just continues the song.

one of the performances for mariah was where she caught a contact mary jane high at the jamaican festival that she performed at and the second she REALLY couldnt hear herself.
5:16 Mariah was a lil “happy” if you know what I mean during the whole concert. She ditched the lip syncing and was one of the most confident and free performances she done in the 10s instead of looking a lil stiff.
The first Mariah clip was during a jamaica concert I believe and she was high, she ditched lip syncing in other songs she did that day. She kinda gained confidence and was running and up and down the stage and was just so relaxed and Great vocals. The second it was the malfunction of her earpiece. She said during rehearsals her earpiece wasn’t working. She could have still sung but she couldn’t hear threw the crowds noice and cmon all the noise in nyc and in New Years plus she missed her part so she didn’t know where she was at.
I guess mariah said that her ear monitors weren't working and she couldnt hear. The crowd screaming, and noise from the square in general she said without her ear monitors working she couldnt tell if she was on key and didnt want to sing it out of key and make it worse. I understand her frustration there.
The reason Ariana can do that is because she was performing to a very small audience and she wasn’t very well know back then so it’s not like she performing at some huge arena

I don't understand these celebrity singers and their management teams. In the event a number suddenly goes to pot, you should be in a position to say, "Stop! Just stop," and move into singing acapella right there on the spot. That means never letting your voice get out of shape and reviewing your music so you're confident you know it by heart. Your raw talent should always be available to you.

That's unrealistic. Any real vocalist needs to think about vocal preservation, especially the ones who sing vocally demanding songs night after night on tours that sometimes last for over a year. Vocal rest is very much necessary, especially if your technique isn't the best. I do think the majority of the time they should perform live, but always is not realistic nor healthy
If that’s always been the case, we shall see a lot more news reporting about singers needing to take a vocal surgery/having severe vocal damage from overuse 😂 They’re just playing it smart to preserve their vocals. How is it a mockery when they’re doing a favor for themselves to save their vocals to sing more in future? Heck, singing vocally demanding songs, just 3-5 songs nonstop is already very demanding. Imagine you need to do a whole setlist continuously...and for the whole tour period! Aand don’t get me started on other occasions such as interviews & studio recording (alot of trials and errors) Even those can take a toll on one’s vocal well-being. I thought it was a go to when it wasn't a call and response. I've seen many singers just point the microphone toward the audience and the audience just continues the song.

The first Mariah clip was during a jamaica concert I believe and she was high, she ditched lip syncing in other songs she did that day. She kinda gained confidence and was running and up and down the stage and was just so relaxed and Great vocals.
The second it was the malfunction of her earpiece. She said during rehearsals her earpiece wasn’t working. She could have still sung but she couldn’t hear threw the crowds noice and cmon all the noise in nyc and in New Years plus she missed her part so she didn’t know where she was at.

I guess mariah said that her ear monitors weren't working and she couldnt hear. The crowd screaming, and noise from the square in general she said without her ear monitors working she couldnt tell if she was on key and didnt want to sing it out of key and make it worse. I don't understand these celebrity singers and their management teams. In the event a number suddenly goes to pot, you should be in a position to say, "Stop! Just stop," and move into singing acapella right there on the spot. That means never letting your voice get out of shape and reviewing your music so you're confident you know it by heart. Your raw talent should always be available to you.

That's unrealistic. Any real vocalist needs to think about vocal preservation, especially the ones who sing vocally demanding songs night after night on tours that sometimes last for over a year. Vocal rest is very much necessary, especially if your technique isn't the best. I do think the majority of the time they should perform live, but always is not realistic nor healthy
If that’s always been the case, we shall see a lot more news reporting about singers needing to take a vocal surgery/having severe vocal damage from overuse 😂
They’re just playing it smart to preserve their vocals. How is it a mockery when they’re doing a favor for themselves to save their vocals to sing more in future?
Heck, singing vocally demanding songs, just 3-5 songs nonstop is already very demanding. Imagine you need to do a whole setlist continuously...and for the whole tour period! Aand don’t get me started on other occasions such as interviews & studio recording (alot of trials and errors) Even those can take a toll on one’s vocal well-being.
Except... if somehow they lip-sync w/ someone else’s voice 😂 now that’s something else.

R I K O yup I’m a huge Kelly fan & she ALWAYS sings live. When John legend got caught lip syncing he said they don’t have the right equipment to sing live on the floats. I just find that everyone on the floats are never actually in sync with what their supposed to be lip syncing lol
