I like what Shadow is doing with the nest, he is adding another room onto it. The nest now extends around the branch on the right which they can turn into the bedroom, keeping the lounge for all other activities. Before Shadow arrived the nest was basically round-ish, now thanks to Shadow it is becoming more of a U - ish shape LOL. Shadow is an interesting character! The start of a love story right here! It's so incredible how enamored and dedicated to Jackie Shadow was from the start! 💕 He knew he spotted his soulmate lady and he knew he could win her over - and he did! 😄
Funny how eagles can actually look real serious or frowny. They seem to like each other for the most part. I think stick moving is an excuse to visit her sometimes. Thanks Lady Hawk.
Unusual... I get why there are not fussing with one another.. eagles do get along pretty much except at mating time. But never seen a juvie hang around so closely for this length of time.. also haven’t seen dad or Stormy ... interesting 🦅🦅❤️❤️

GE Lady Hawk! Well this is becoming something to really look forward to each night! I'm always thinking about and wondering if Shadow will come back tonight and what will happen with Mrs. BB and him. After the eye contact display by Shadow, Mrs. BB cracked me up how she just pushes her way past at the 18:45 mark like: "out of my way on my own nest young buck" lol. Shadow decides to perch in front of her again bringing vocals from Mrs. I wish he would try perching on another part of the tree for the night or just to her right on her branch and not in front of her. I think she would allow him to stay anywhere except right in front of her. Awesome coverage Lady Hawk!❤ ttys
Maybe it's just a teaching moment for her. If she really wanted him off the nest she'd do it. A little companion time and teaching him to be subordinate to her.
I love all these videos, but I also have some questions. Could you help Lady Hawk? -- Where is the male/dad eagle? Does he know about Shadow and does he mind Shadow being around? --Is Shadow a male? He seems smaller in size compared to Mrs. BB. So I am assuming so. Thanks!!
Shadow will make some lucky female a great mate, but until then, this is very intetesting. Maybe Mrs. BB tolerates him because she's young too. I can't see Harriet allowing this type of behaviour, but who knows?
Hi Michele - I do think that Mrs BB young age may have something to do with it. And she is not really one who did much work on the nest this season so maybe she will learn from Shadow!! No way would Harriet allow another eagle in HER nest - let alone let one keep coming back for weeks! lol
Today one of the local photographers posted this: Stormy is here in Big Bear on July 5th and doing fine. Stormy is out fishing and hunting right out near where the fireworks were going off last night!"
Well I am not sure we can say it is normal or abnormal but right now Shadow is learning about sticks and nesting behavior and improving his socialization skills. Mr B is here just not in the nest tree - seen close by with Shadow flying by him! At mating time, most likely they will chase him off the nest and not let him return - Shadow is too young to mate so he would move on.
Hi Wanda - we don't know for certain if this was the nest Shadow hatched in and fledged but it probably is with the timeline and his age. Shadow does seem very comfortable at this nest and I think that has something do with it and also Mrs BB is not actively chasing him out of the tree...it is a type of acceptance to allow him to stay and work on the nest.

Shadow clearly loves to be close to Mrs.BB. It's funny when she walks by him she just kind of shoves him out of the way.

So do we know the reason Shadow hangs out at this nest is because this is the nest he fledged from?
