    My grandmother has been using Retin A for 40+ years, started right when it got on the market. Her skin is fantastic and absolutely glowing and she's 86. I have been using it since my mid 20s and will never stop. If you go to the dorm and ask them whats the one thing you can do to fight aging, they will tell you Retin A (and sunscreen of course). No need for these fancy, expensive products.

    • @ed8329
      @ed8329 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@alphafish4756 not everyone gets a sagging neck. So much of aging is genetic and she seems to have great genes. I sometimes put it on my neck and only once it got irritated. Retin A will work to resurface the skin, but it can’t change sagging skin. That would be surgical. Or just embrace it!

    • @София-д3р7д
      @София-д3р7д 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@alphafish4756 Neck sagging usually happens more to those who gain a lot of weight on their faces, which get droopy with age. Retinols keep your skin tight and wrinkle free, but they don't stop sagging.

    • @София-д3р7д

      @nur e jannat ayesha I use Retinol B3 serum from La Roche. You can use any retinol product or the Retin-A. Apply the retinol alone on skin and use the moisturizer 2 hrs later on top, if u have dry skin. Don't mix other things with retinols, that will reduce the strength. After a few days of use, ur skin will feel a bit irritated or pink, that's when you know your skin is gonna peel off. Stop using the retinol during that time and use other serums and moisturizers. After the peeling is over start retinols again.

    Niacinamide and retinoids actually play nice together. I use alot of Japanese and Korean products in my skincare regimen. I just started using Retin A again this year. My only regret is not using it consistently over the years. I used it in my early to mid 20s, briefly in my 30s and now I am 44. I plan on using it consistently from here on out. I can easily pass for btw 33-35 and want to continue to maintain myself to look 10-15 years younger than my age due to diet, exercise, good dental care, and great skincare. I am using my Retin A less during the fall/winter months due to the excessive peeling. I get my money from a company in the UK. I use a mineral sunscreen during the day. Watching you and Hot n Flashy got me back on track with using Retin A again. I plan on starting miconeedling at a Medspa next year. Curology and Brightly are prescription plus they make lower dosages for sensitive skin.

    I've been toying with using retinol for years but didn't like how few non existent very long term results there are out there. I've read/watched a lot of information on it for the years, been a bit scared as it is so powerful and I've never had a proper routine. I'm in another part of the world and don't have easy access to dermatology (incredibly expensive) so couldn't really seek proper advice other than professionals online and real life users. So just to be clear: I have definitely spent a lot of time weighing the pros and cons and my health is fine too.
    You are the reason I finally bought it. I saw your videos a while back and was blown away but still wasn't quite sure about all the scientific jargon regarding percentages. They don't make it easy to understand do they?!
    However I saw another video of yours recently and was just stunned at your skin. I'm just recently 28. So I dove in!
    I started on a very low dose and use every couple of days; have been doing so for about 12 weeks now. I'm blown away by it. I bought it initially for preventative purposes but my blackheads have pretty much vanished, pores are tighter and my skin is glowing. So thank you so much for being so consistent with it for so many years! You're the reason I finally said ok enough debating, I'm trying this!!

    Also include waxing as a potential problem. First time I had my brows waxed after using it for years I did not think about it causing my skin to tear off with the wax strip! I instantly remembered and the tech told me she would use almond oil on my skin before applying the wax again. Meanwhile I looked like I had two brows that were huge scabs.. Miserable, live and learn!

    Hi, Melissa I started using Retin A in my twenties when it first came out as an acne treatment and tolerated it pretty well. I remember my doctor also saying it was cancer preventing but I'm not sure about that, and they didn't know back then about anti-aging properties. I used it for about 10+ years but my doctor made me stop when I was pregnant (shouldn't be used while pregnant or breastfeeding). After that, I tried so many times to get back on it, but could not tolerate it (strangely a lot of things change after pregnancy... I lost my taste for chardonnay too and had to switch to red wine!, lol).... I'm your age now and started back slowly about 5 years ago and have recently worked up to. 1 without any adverse reactions, (no redness, peeling, only very slight occasional flaking if its cold outside or using the heat indoors) although I do use serums and moisturizer afterward and wonder if maybe that helps??? . I also think cream formula is less harsh as I recall the original gel to be. I also used Triluma for a bit which was wonderful because it also contains a steroid which I think really helped prevent bad side effects, although you can't use it long term... I've also incorporated your famous "secret weapon" hand knitted wash cloths into my routine which are a game-changer when it comes to flaking. I'm knitting them for all my friends now who love them as much as I do. And i'm going to make another to start using in the shower for body exfoliation. My skin looks great and I get lots of compliments. Thanks for the update and all your wonderful videos... I've learned so much from you, you are an inspiration/hero and I always enjoy watching you. Stay healthy and Happy Holidays to you and your family. (sorry this is so long.....) xoxo

It also contains hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and collagen. A 45 gram tube is $115 dollars. I am a dentist and the main reason of Retinoic acid being a controlled drug is because of its teratogenic effect on pregnancy. I buy tretinoin 0.1% without any dr prescription simply because I cannot conceive any more. Retin A or Tretinoin is simply synthetic vit A. Yes you can get vit A through fruits and veggies but perhaps not in a concentrated form. The only other serious issue is there is a lot of “aftercare” involved for Retin A users. So my advise, do you research before you jump on the bandwagon. I have used both Trazorac and Tretinoin and my skin has simply turned back it’s clock. I am 44 and often told I am around 30. ❤️ from Australia

    Hi Melissa, thank you for your generosity, time, dedication and sharing your experience.
    MOST importantly being an inspiration to people like me turning 40 years old NOT to immediately start Botox, Fillers.
    However, a renowned plastic surgeon once noted that beautiful people (like you) age better naturally because they already have very good , strong bone structures and symmetrical features.

    I just started, today! 45 years old with rosacea and sensitive skin. We shall see. The sun damage has already taken a toll, but I now have around 4 different sunscreens on hand & 3 brands of powder foundation that include spf of some form. Thank you for your sweet update & caring way of presenting things like this. Merry Chrismas!

      Good luck! They’re the best. As a fellow rosacea-haver & user of retinoids for 6+ years, I thought this info might be helpful for ya... I’ve found that using The ordinary niacinamide serum daily under my moisturizer has helped so much tolerating the vitamin A, and it has reduced my rosacea redness a lot! Oh and the new Aveeno oat gel moisturizer (applied to wet skin before retinoid) is a total game changer for people w rosacea! It is the most cooling, calming, best moisturizer I’ve ever used! (And I’ve tried them all!) I have had great success with Differin/adapalene (and we’re getting increasing data that it does a lot of the same stuff as RetinA), so if for any reason, the tretinoin doesn’t work out, that could always be a backup!

    Wise words!! This is my philosophy too. Let the Tret do its job and use other products that support the skin barrier. I started Tret from Agency back in Feb. And switched all my other products to gentle ones.
    People start to add things back in way too soon too!!

    Your tips on keeping it simple were really helpful to me. I don’t have flaking because I moisturize first, on damp skin. I wait for it to dry then apply the tretinoin. It works just as well and keeps my skin from flaking badly. I buy mine from India, but my GP knows I use it.
