I agree with this. I'd even take this further and mention how well Kakashi functions in his role as a representative of the core themes of the story. Not only does he introduce the main theme of teamwork/community to both the audience and Naruto but serves as a guide for those themes as well. Everyone knows about Naruto's talk no jutsu tendencies but Kakashi does his fair share as well. You pointed out his talk with Sasuke but there's also his talk with Inari, Chiyo, and Obito. Not as effective as Naruto but still very helpful and often working in tandem with Naruto's own talks. There's also the fact that most of his fights in the series are focused on teamwork. Kakashi rarely fights alone and is constantly put in positions of protecting/leading/strategizing while he's fighting. I know it frustrates a lot of fans but to me it further shows how he embodies those teamwork/community themes.
The way Kakashi's backstory was told from beginning to end is just perfect. The anime expands more on Anbu and Kid Kakashi which we all appreciated. I just wish Kakashi kept his outfits when he was a teenager or a kid instead of wearing the default Jonin outfit. What's that game sequence at 12:08?

haha, literally only Kakashi fans think that, no one ever said he was the best written... 90% of his time on screen was reading erotic literature and being a terrible teacher, apart from the fact that the best version of him , who is in the anbu, doesn't even exist in the manga, they had to redo his story in the anime to compensate for his lack of development.
My go to for when people say Kakashi was a trash teacher is, Jiraiya had 3 years with Naruto and he learned nothing, Kakashi had a week abd helped him kinda master wind release, master the reasengan, and come up with an insane new jutsu. I love Jiraiya though

The not so great teacher narrative that really smears his likeability for some is actually kinda weird. Child genius. Genin at 5 y/o. Given that, its kinda hard to expect him to teach genin. one of which didnt even understand what chakra was. Especially since he was training and leading ANBU for years before this. Which is why his teaching ability became more commendable and apparent in shippuden and naruto has matured some and already understood the basics more. The choosing sasuke over naruto is actually common sense in the chuunin exam arc. Sasuke was going against a homicidal psychotic gaara. I think thats should be enough explanation right? Really i think people forget that team 7 was put in the chuunin exam just months after graduating. Not enough time to make them powerhouses from literal scratch.
I agree that overall he’s a good teacher, but during the Chunin exam arc, I dislike him for outright refusing to train Naruto knowing that he was about to face Neji, one of the strongest genin at the time. Instead he left the burden to Ebisu, which fortunately, Naruto encountered Jiraiya who best suited him and helped him a lot.
Well, I guess that’s a fair point. I’ve seen a lot of comments criticizing him for being biased since when Sasuke asked him for the same thing, he agreed immediately without any hesitation.
But I guess it’s because of the point you made that Naruto should have mastered his basic first. Meanwhile Sasuke’s basic had already exceeded Naruto by a mile, and it might be too much time for him to train them both, so he might have to choose one.
I think it's also important to remember that he trained Sasuke not just because of the exam but because Orochimaru told Kakashi that he was going to lure Sasuke away using the promise of power. Kakashi had to focus on Sasuke for his safety at the time. Teaching Sasuke chidori so he could protect himself and feel powerful without being tempted by the curse mark.
Imma be honest with you, Sasuke clears by miles in the written department. Kakashi is legendary but you can tell Kishi went all out for Sasuke, him being his favorite character after all. Both goats tho

I think i understand your point but I think the reason sasuke missed something and we can’t all relate to him is because sasuke since he joined team 7 was never alone. People always try to bring that kid to the right path. Even after his so call vengeance the guy just jump deep into darkness. Sasuke just let it go, when someone try to bring him into the light he just ran away. now people tend to like more kakashi because his life is struggle - rehab - struggle - rehab ... that’s is all our life so it much easier to bond with him. sorry for this english 😂.
Kakashi certainly isn't perfect, but he tries to be better. He does have the worst past, and a lot of the bad Sasuke went through was choices he didn't think about, like easily believing the reasons given by Itachi. The problem with Sasuke is that he doesn't just want revenge, he hurts people who care about him. Revenge makes sense, but hurting people who really love him?

I mean it depends on what you think the definitive floor for Hokage is. Kakashi in part 1 is above current Shikamaru in terms of everything but speed. But, based on most people’s interpretations of what “kage level” means, I’d say he’s DEFINITIVELY kage level during the Pain Arc with arguments for being kage level all the way back at the end of part 1. I mean Jiraiya thought he was fit for the role back then.

I mean sure bad things happen to sasuke but he didn’t really gradually change. Him fighting naruto at the end and being like yeah let back to normal is wack. That make no sense. for the entire managa sasuke was a crybaby. I can say sasuke in boruto might be a well written character but not in naruto.
Ehh the writing surrounding Kakashi gets a little wonky when discussing his usage of the MS. But other than that I’d say he fills his role in the story perfectly.
Does Kakashi lose that often? I don't think he does. And when he doesn it's against absurdly O.P. characters like Madara, Pain and Itachi. He does pretty well for the most part in his fights.
For a main character and as somebody who is as hyped up as he is, his win-loss record isn’t all that impressive. But like the others said, he always fights above his weight class.

Personally i find Minato to be the best, beacause he is the only character in all of naruto that does not rely on power, he simply is extremely skilled and does not spam sharingan or tailed beast mode or anything like that his just that good!

So alot of substance with this specific scene but I'll try to give a different perspective maybe we can discuss , Kakashi is the one who killed rin accidentally and watched his friend die and had to live with it , he believes he himself is guilty there's no one to look for or no goal beyond that, that is directly connected to that situation , itachi specifically is still alive, gave sasuke a goal and left him off the hook on a whim (before plot twist retcon) and basically left sasuke as a 7 year old abandoned , that was the only thing keeping himself together others IMO he woulda killed himself, gaara tried to but couldn't cuz of sand but what's gonna stop sasuke , he saw visions of his dead mom, same mom who was his emotional support when the father wasn't there for him , and he glorified itachi , anyways that was sasukes reason to live , sasuke says this for the first ever team 7 introduction and kakashi just does a bruh face , doesn't even actually talk to sasuke about that cuz that's clearly an unhealthy head space and just shrugs like sasuke did not just say that , made him look like a piece of sh*t, but again my perspective on kakashi is hes almost emotionalless, super detached based off his trauma, he's not a people person, non of these qualities can suit someone that is givin someone life advice especially in the same topic and at that part of sasukes life , itachi then came back after sasuke was finally ready to move on essentially ,make friends even tried to sacrifice himself multiple times , itachi comes back tortures sasuke etc.., now sasuke knows it's dangerous to live in the village , naruto was stronger than him , orochimaru gave him a pathway and hope , and kakashi his sensei got mopped by itachi,.kakashi ties up sasuke and doesn't even show empathy and just says hey man forget about your life goal, it's pointless , doesn't even give a solution and this is ignoring how ignorant his dialog already was jt say we forget what he says , why didn't he give a solution , he just glorifies team 7 dynamic , same team 7 with a girl who blindly crushes on sasuke and values him over her , or naruto who would rather be prideful than understand sasuke , final valley also showcased this and naruto took till pain arc to understand which is sad cuz had orochimaru took sasuke it would be too late which gives naruto a little merit but still, I think kakashi redeems himself by trying to help shikimaru with revenge unless he just hates sasuke , and yes a revenge mission is different than a life goal ,but different circumstances, sasuke didn't feel safe at konoha, and instead of kakashi givin hope and a new plan to avenge the clan he says forget it, I already know if someone else killed Rin kakashi would be looking for them , if this person was obito he definitely would be looking for him , this was sasukes brother, I see the situation was batman Jason todd ,batman failed to save him, but batman still priorizes his warped morality over his son, kinda like kakashi to a lesser extent, but same dude was ready to piece up sasuke at the summit (somewhat understandable but 0 hesitation rough)..
Forgive the messiness I kinda ranted for no reason just alot to cover and alot of details in this complex show, and I didn't watch the whole video or necessarily disagree , UP till itachi fight sasuke revenge era is justified , im not a fan of sasukes character after that or his arc and yes I agree when that version of sasuke wanted to destroy everything he was too far but the show tried to act like sasuke Killin itachi was wrong when it wasn't, which is one of the many reasons Im not a fan of the retcon but it's whatever, my personal take is I don't think kakashi cared about sasuke that much, he was either just didn't like or didn't wanna bond because he was scared of losing him , I mean why do u teach sauske a killer technique aka chidroi and get mad at him when he uses it to defend naruto rasengan,also he leaves him to a tree and doesn't followup and sasuke gets jumped and sakura is the one to watch him , kishimoto did that for the plot sure but in doing so made kakashi look horrible, when gaara talks to sasuke during the exams training , kakashi doesn't even have a talk about hatred to sasuke he kinda just says leave to gaara, I never understood why kakashi was so detached to that topic until the tie scene and even then the convo was quick and pointles, I think kakashi is flawed but that's what makes him great many people are under the false impression that he's perfect and that's what makes him great when it's the opposite , also people use that tree scene to say sasuke is whiny and kakashi had a worse childhood ? I won't get into that but yea Side note I think sasuke up till itachi fight was the most compelling character same wirh part 1 naruto and gaara and lee, but if u wanna go off consistency till the end with how all the character writing is all over the place I guess u can say kakashi is the best, Although I do wish he died at the pain arc
I think i understand your point but I think the reason sasuke missed something and we can’t all relate to him is because sasuke since he joined team 7 was never alone. People always try to bring that kid to the right path. Even after his so call vengeance the guy just jump deep into darkness. Sasuke just let it go, when someone try to bring him into the light he just ran away. now people tend to like more kakashi because his life is struggle - rehab - struggle - rehab ... that’s is all our life so it much easier to bond with him.

Kakashi certainly isn't perfect, but he tries to be better. He does have the worst past, and a lot of the bad Sasuke went through was choices he didn't think about, like easily believing the reasons given by Itachi. The problem with Sasuke is that he doesn't just want revenge, he hurts people who care about him. Revenge makes sense, but hurting people who really love him?

At what point does Kakashi DEFINITIVELY reach Kage level?
I mean it depends on what you think the definitive floor for Hokage is. Kakashi in part 1 is above current Shikamaru in terms of everything but speed. But, based on most people’s interpretations of what “kage level” means, I’d say he’s DEFINITIVELY kage level during the Pain Arc with arguments for being kage level all the way back at the end of part 1. I mean Jiraiya thought he was fit for the role back then.

I think Kage level starts at V2 4 tails and ends at KCM 1 (which is the same thing as V2 9 tails). If you can hang with that form for a while (even if you're not equal to it), you're Kage level. Do you agree?

In that case, my line of thinking works. Pain arc Kakashi dog walks 4 tails Naruto, but isn’t KCM level yet, while end of part 1 Kakashi probably is a toss up for 4 tails Naruto.

That make no sense. for the entire managa sasuke was a crybaby. I can say sasuke in boruto might be a well written character but not in naruto.
Ehh the writing surrounding Kakashi gets a little wonky when discussing his usage of the MS. But other than that I’d say he fills his role in the story perfectly.

Does Kakashi lose that often? I don't think he does. And when he doesn it's against absurdly O.P. characters like Madara, Pain and Itachi. He does pretty well for the most part in his fights.

For a main character and as somebody who is as hyped up as he is, his win-loss record isn’t all that impressive. But like the others said, he always fights above his weight class.
@@joshuajose4868 yeah it’s also worth noting that some of his Ls come from plot convenience because he’s babysitting his comrades a lot of the time. A good example of this is having to waste 2 raikiri to defend Shikamaru and Ino against Kakuzu’s false darkness
Personally i find Minato to be the best, beacause he is the only character in all of naruto that does not rely on power, he simply is extremely skilled and does not spam sharingan or tailed beast mode or anything like that his just that good!
