I just LOVE this soundtrack. Play it a few times a week at work doing creative workshops with 4-5 year-olds. The kids totally groove out to these tracks.

The Saturn version is probably da best. Yuzo Koshiro also composed music for the Saturn version so. I'm guessing this is composed by Yuzo Koshiro. That means this is the first appearence of this track! I'm curious, does anyone know if the Space Harrier song is ever played in the game?
A really good soundtrack (I listen to it nearly once per day since you uploaded it) !! ;) Thanks for your efforts, thanks to you, we can listen to really great and rare soundtracks easily !! :) Good luck for the future !! :)
6:18 Sounds like the beginning of a level in GunDuel from Retro Game Challenge 2 In the start of the track. Didn't realize Namco was referencing an old port of Bosconian. That's cool.
@@Alianger The X68k is better in that regard, because it has a lot more RAM, whereas the SNES is limited to just 64 KB sound RAM. The SNES had to use heavily compressed 8-16 kHz samples in order to fit them into its limited sound RAM. Whereas the X68k can play 22 kHz samples all the time. It's also possible with some software drivers to get the default X68k chipset to play up to 31 kHz samples. But not sure if it was used, since the X68k could just be upgraded with sound cards.
@@Alianger I meant theoretically. In terms of actual X68K games, they usually used samples in the 15-22 kHz range. Whereas SNES games usually used samples in the 8-16 kHz range.
FM sound chips is pretty much sounded the same. The Sega Genesis uses the YM2612 chip which is the stripped down version of the YM2151 used in X68000 computer, a lot of arcade game cabinets the mid-80s to early 90s, and this game.
The x68000 is at a huge advantage compared to the Genesis. 8 FM channels on the 2151 compared to 6 on the 2612 and a dedicated PCM channel so it doesn't have to give anything up for the drums like the Genesis does.
Still not abysmally different. Maybe if they ported those tunes to the Genesis little changes in the arrangement can make it possible, like instead of using the extra 2 FM channels, using the PSG chip in some way.

You're really inspiring young minds with the great music. This is all inspired by timeless art.

is it an unpopular opinion to say that space harrier is a bad game?
@@Elrinth these two musics are great too. i think no, these are extra. 15:22 is unused music too.

3.Zoom

WHY DOES THIS GO SO HARD
6:18 Sounds like the beginning of a level in GunDuel from Retro Game Challenge 2 In the start of the track. Didn't realize Namco was referencing an old port of Bosconian. That's cool.
1:15 Little Wave

This is so excellent! Pure X68k goodness.
Yuzo Koshiro FTW!
Tight soundtrack. I don't think I've ever listened to an X68000 OST before, great sound, it's like a mix of the SNES and the Megadrive bass.
All FM like the Genesis, only the percussions are sampled similar to the SNES but better quality.
I believe the samples are capped at ~22Khz on the default X68K chipset so it's not better in that regard.

Amazing song
Oh my, this is great chiptune music!!
This has given me permanent Bass Face.

The song around 4 minutes totally reminds me of Galaxy Force 2
It seems also silly such a great soundtrack could be used to sell a game that was put out many years after the fact but it works so well!
Thank you for this soundtrack!
6:17 - FLASH FLASH FLASH!
Gradius style of the melody at the start))
little wave is my favorite song

It's called "Over the Horizon" and is also played in the X68000 port of Space Harrier.
Thank you!
f**k yeah, I need to add this version to my phone.. been using the saturn version as ring phone for a year now.

Namco also did a new OST for Motos when they ported it to the X68K.
Technically Dempa ported both Bosconian and Motos to the X68K.
I get the impression the music was Dempa's idea.
Little Wave→小波→KONAMI
Probably the closest we’ll ever get to a proper Bosconian Arrangement...

It would have been cool if these songs were remixed in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Especially "Flash Flash Flash".
