  • In this video I will show you how to create a chart for your very own weaving pattern. As a narrow band weaver, it's fun to create your own patterns, mix and match other established charts and learn how to create a pattern from an old or existing belt. I will demonstrate and explain in detail how you do this from start to finish!

Hello from Latvia! ☺ Thank you for the video! I was confused about what the dots meant that i kept seeing in the patterns online, this was very helpful. 👍

Sveiki! I’m so glad I could clarify that for you! Happy weaving!

This, and your 3 weaving tutorials, are brilliant! I've dabbled in tablet weaving and get in a mess with the pattern and also the constant twisting, but this looks so much more intuitive and easier for someone like me who gets easily lost and fuddled. I will be blowing the dust off my inkle loom and treating myself to a rigid heddle 🥰

Thank you! I have found that it is practical to cover both sides of the pattern with wide clear tape and use popsicle sticks to mark my place.

That’s a great idea! As a knitter as well they make those chart line markers that are helpful but DIY is the best way!

Hello ! Thanks for the explanation, how do i know how many thread compose my pattern ? For exemple in your 2nd video you make a drawing about how every thread came into holes, sometimes is 2 threads in the same hole sometimes just one, sometimes white/red/white/red, sometimes white/ white/ red/white/ white. How i can understand that from a pixel drawing pattern ? Thanks
I'm french i hope my question is clear 😅

Yes, that can be confusing! I use two threads in one hole when I want to make the "Pattern" threads thicker- so they stand out more against the background. You don't have to do this, and it is not represented in the chart. The chart just shows how many pattern threads there are- but when I stick two together through the heddle, I always work them as one thread. You can also use a thicker thread or yarn if it is confusing!

Thanks, someone tells me that : every thread of the motif color (here red) need two threads of the background color (here white), one before, one after. It help me so much! Cause it's difficult to me to understand how i pass from any pixel pattern to a chart pattern. If you have other advice or tuto i take it !

@@Kim-fj8yv Yes you do! Please watch this video of mine which goes into how to warp or thread the heddle for weaving this way: th-cam.com/video/SoLU8Eg-Xoo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5MPT0TKtzD0A3Gaw
