  • Complementary-warp pick-up is a great way to dive in to some more complex designs using your inkle loom and just a few basic tools. Using the most wonderful book (Complementary-Warp Pick-Up by Laverne Waddington) I hope to help get you started on a new way to use your loom! If you are like Lanen and just can't quite get the hang of card weaving, using a pick up pattern can be an excellent way to cheat into that card pattern. But pick up is also period and can be a ton of fun! From simple patterns to writing words you can do a lot with pick up!
I am a HUGE pattern book user and this book is a great resource! You can get this book at taprootvideo.com:

I have the Waddington book but I didn't completely understand it until I saw your video. Thanks. A video is worth a thousand words.

I would use a post it note for my pattern and I would use it above the pick I’m working so i could see how the current pick will line up with the previous picks. You have no reference if you are looking at picks that don’t yet exist.

That's a great idea! I never thought about being able to look back instead of forward!

Ikr? I do that on all my patterns such as knitting. It’s just confusing to compare the row you’re working with a row that isn’t there. Comparing with the previous row gives you a view of where your color will line up with what’s already there. Glad I could help!❤

Lanen says: "Goodness that tapestry is probably 20 years old! I would guess I bought it at a local metaphysical shop we used to have here. If you don't have a shop like that near you the internet is the place to look these days."
