Curious how the Perfection V39 II stacks up against the CanoScan LiDE 400 which can also do 4,800 DPI and is cheaper plus USB-C.

Bought it, returned it instantly. If you want to use 4800 dpi you first need to press the preview button, then it will let you scan but the result look like an upscale and is blurry.
Also there are lines everywhere like if it skipped a line of pixel. Oh it won't scan the full screen so if you use the corner of the printer to align your paper, you'll lose about 2-3 mm.

    thank you!
I've been thinlking about replacing my lide 400 with this one as it's colors really are terrible at times..
really nice that you're comparing to the canon

Could you help me with these questions:
-How different is this scanner from version 1?
-Does the scanner accept neon colors (highlighter markers) well? because the Lide 300 scanner is very bad at recognizing these colors.
And thanks for the info, really nice video.

How do you change the dpi when scanning stuff or is it set by default to 4800? Im new to scanning I never had one or used one ever so this might be a dumb question.

The additional comments on Canon were useful. Just the removeable lid alone, made my decision.

how good are the colors compared to the Lide 300 you have?

I think a good workaround for those who are worried about the Micro-USB port durability, would be to buy a cheap Micro-usb to USB-C (or USB-A, depending on what you want) adaptor and leave it permanently plugged in the Micro-USB port of the scanner. This way you won't have to constantly plug/unplug it.

can you scan film negative with this one? similar to the perfection v550/v600 or mostly paper/prints only?

    1) I would have liked to see a bit more in depth color quality comparison. All scanners from the last decade are 'reasonably good' but how good are they with REAL color accuracy? I understand it's consumer stuff but how about scanning and comparing a real color card? RAL colors, CMYK colors, Pantone? 2) Not only is micro usb a bit old fashioned, it's usb c can have a much higher data rate.
