Yep, Dorian from Dragon Age Inquisition is gay but he's also a traitor to his radicalized people that gives you a peek into their culture. Both the norm in that country and how these radicals altered it. They have a different divine figure, blood magic is considered fine so long as you limit it's use to your own blood and people who willingly volunteer to help you with whatever you are trying to achieve. He also states that there is a lot of infighting and political scheming but they also have the Qunari to deal with on thier border so he views the south as pansies that don't have that same looming fear of war so they can turn their nose up at magic. Him being gay influences how he interacts with romance and, if you don't romance either of them, he hooks up with Iron Bull and they have a hilariously quippy relationship. That's also entirely optional, if you don't want to hear it just don't have them in the party together and use one or the other.

In Baldurs Gate 2, a very old game. The Red Wizard Edvin wanted you to do a mission for him, and when the mission was completed he was with magic transformed into a woman. Which is hilarious. Afterwards you had to play him as a female and it was a great experience. Here we can talk about DEI done right.

I understand that technically this can be taken as that the very first Custodes was female. But also could mean that there were females since the “first founding” of the 10,000. Ideally, it would be clearer, but I’ve seen nothing to confirm that they mean the literal first Custodes was female.
The way I always understood it was that the Emperors genecraft (ignoring its esoteric elements) required the Emperors DNA as a sort of source code. Both for the Custodes and the Primarchs and thus also the Space Marines since their Gene Seed comes from the Primarchs. And since the Emperor is male his genecraft has always been incompatible with female humans.

As a newer fan (past 3-4 years) it’s also sucks. Days worth of hours spent learning lore and just as I make the jump to the table top the game is potentially destroyed. However I’ll just have to find or cultivate a play group that adheres to old lore and disregards new lore in an attempt to build our own universe.
I also feel for the long time fans having invested years and thousands of dollars into the hobby to have it retconed like this.

Not to mention being in the exclusive rich guys with yacht club also meant that they are very out of touch with what's really happening outside their ivory towers, so they do actually think all these DEI is actually going to make them a lot of money.

It breaks my heart to see this as I discovered 40K through Warhammer fantasy a couple years ago and fell in love with both of them and now just like every franchise men grew up on they are trying to ruin it it worries me for what my son will have to look up to as he grows

There's a reason why women cannot be space Marines, let alone Adeptus Custodis, their body just could not handle the extreme rigors and surgical modifications needed to be able to transform into a space marine. that's why women have their own group, the Adepta Sororitas which goes through their own extreme training and rituals which are very different from the Adeptus Astartes, and the Adeptus Custodes. For one thing they have less surgical implants, and they focus more on unwavering faith and devotion to the Emperor that they are able to channel the psychic energy of the emperor into themselves to become superhuman fighting machines! This is why it does not make sense for women to be in the Adeptus Custodes! End of story!
Plus, their genetic modifications are keyed towards being men anyway, since the Emperor intended to make them solely male their implants will only work on boys

I find it remarkably interesting that they make changes for people who don't play games, don't buy miniatures, don't buy books, or anything else that doesn't come from their local mega corp. Instead of making the people who actually give them money happy.
The do however make the changes for the people giving them money. To get investment you need to check off quite a bit of checkboxes and being woke are a fair number of those. It's not about customers, it's ab out the up front money to even make the game.

I don't understand how they can think "there's not enough female representation" when you have the sisters of battle, a whole BRANCH of the imperial military that is 99% female, and I'm pretty sure the Eldar are over half female (I don't really know much about them outside of DOW, but I swear half their units are female), and even the Tau I'm pretty sure don't discriminate in their castes between male and female, even in the fire caste.
Like, really the only groups I can think of that don't have any females at all that could have them are the Space Marines and custodes. Orks don't reproduce sexually, so gender doesn't really apply, and necrons are in a similar boat because their metal bodies aren't designed to have sexual dimorphism, or really any kind of distinction, but I imagine when they were alive they did. And chaos are manifestations of energy, so gender really doesn't apply, they just choose to be male, except for slaanesh, he/she/it decided to have everything be BOTH at the same time!
So really I don't understand what the big deal is. The are plenty of women in Warhammer, but I guess it's just not enough for some people.

@@Jyrro I agree with that. 40k has always been a perfect environment for head canon. I have no doubt that we all have our own version of certain events. Which is why little blips like this that come from a single instance of a brief side story are irrelevant and should have no impact on people enjoying the hobby. If people are honestly leaving the hobby because of this, then they were already on their way out.
Female custodes are fine, so long as you don't cook it into some sort of ''message''. Delta+ psykers are like 1 in a billion people, and there are quite a few of them that exist. I am sure that at least 1 in a billion females can handle all the trials and modifications and become a custodes. But the thing is, she is going to be exactly the same. A genetically modified killing machine, square jaw and low voice, pectorals larger than breasts, female only in name, gender is completely irrelevant at that point. Pick any existing custodes miniature model or concept art and call her Martha, that is how I personally view the ''there were always female custodes.''

About that gay thing. One of my most favourite characters of all time is Cpt. Jack Harkness from Doctor Who/Torchwood. That guy is a lot of things: a survivor, a soldier, a con man, a leader concerned for his subordinates, sometimes a rascal, ... and he also happens to be bisexual. Cpt. Jack himself and the show never made a big fuss about it, you just casually realise it along the way.
He also happens to become immortal and thus, is doomed to see everyone he loves, everything he values wither and die, time and time and time and again. And in this context, it makes totally sense that someone who lives for hundrets of thousands of years and has contact with countless alien species and cultures gives a flying F about human conventions and gets some solace where he can find it - even if this means more pain on the long run.
And then we have _Bill,_ a companion of the 12th Doctor. Bill is a gay black woman that... is a black and gay woman who... is black and gay and a woman. Seriously, she is a bloody joke, a decall of a character, there are pretty much zero other, real character traits I could talk about when coming to her. And thus, there is not much she can say or talk about, so she hammers those three facts across everyone's face time and again. 'I am a gay black woman and proud about it!'... 'I am a proud black, gay woman!'... 'Slavery was baaad, doh, and thus, I will heavily imply that white people are bad. Oh, and I am gay, how amazing is that!'
Usually a leaving companion leaves a hole for some time, but when Bill _finally_ left, not only was I _happy_ for the first time when a companion left, I kinda forgot she ever even existed when the next episode was aired. Bill was a prime example how to _not_ write a character, whereas Cpt. Jack Harkness as a well written character will forever have a place in my heart.

The idea of Blackstone buying a manga group sounds a little idiotic. Attempts in the past to sell "Woke" manga resulted in very poor sales in Japan. It's ironic as well since Japanese manga can actually already have LGBTQ+ themes (that's left up to audience interpretation); they're just not embracing US/European ideals. I don't see Blackstone gaining much in this, especially if the Japanese (and just about everyone else) know that a US company purchased it and intends to spread its ideology through it. People vote with their wallets.

I think many Japanese people don't know this, but Japanese skin is not yellow to begin with. This is fairly well known in the cosmetics industry, medical professionals who deal with skin, and people who go to Asia, but I guess it can't be helped since it's a narrow field.
The yellow race refers to the skin color of Chinese and Korean people, and the majority of Japanese people are white to reddish (pink) with a pink tint.
It's so different that most Japanese people are told "you're pale" in Asia. It may be hard to tell because men are tanned.
To put it simply, when you rub a tangerine on your hand, it becomes very yellow, and that is the color of the yellow race.
In other words, the white and pink colors of Japanese people in illustrations are familiar to Japanese people because they are familiar with the obvious idea. That's why no matter what Japanese anime you watch, it's pale, flesh-colored, and pink.
When it comes to hair and eye color, the colors Japanese people like are simply white, blonde, blues, reds, and purple.
To be honest, I feel that this is because gold, blue, and red have been familiar colors in Japan for over a thousand years, but this is not confirmed, so it's just my personal opinion.

It's too bad that your atrociously shitty treatment of your customers and your own IP means neither he nor I will be giving you a single red cent. I got 25 books into the Heresy, both of my sons were loving it. We were the three of us looking at starting our armies. Hell, even my wife wanted to paint minis. That’s 4 lost customers all for the “Modern Audience” who are too busy supporting Hamas to support GW.
I’m working on developing a TCG/Tabletop/RPG hybrid game where you can choose which elements of the game you want to use from game to game. WOTC and GW are both atrocious to their fans and customers so I think I’ll just take them all.
I bought my kids a few armies to play with me. They asked me why we were playing a DEI game. The oldest is 13… There goes that idea.

Fortunately I don’t have to buy another GW product, I can draw the line for GW Classic and GW Woke. Any future PC games I buy will be based on DEI Detected. Having ‘incidental’ characters hasn’t been an issue, don’t need it crammed into every possible moment. On a side note, I can’t wait to sacrifice any woke characters pushed on me in the future.

Concerning the Warhammer female custodes issue:
-Warhammer already has female centric factions as bellowed as the custodes.
-Sisters of silence work with Custodes when it comes to defending the throne, they are as badass and I would argue scarier overall. Why not give them the focus in the codex where they did the retcon? They need a range refresh, would give the army new option and learning about them would’ve been interesting
-The biggest issue is that they announce this, and don’t make any miniature to go hand in hand with the retcon. If they can make female and male Stormcasts in Sigmar, why not do the same here and make characters for it? Or heck, add a few female heads to the sprues then if they are a thing!
You could justify female custodes lore wise quite easily, since the process isn’t the same as using the marines Geneseed. What pissed everyone was the lack of minis and the gaslighting.
Stuff like this assures GW never gets a cent from me.

I've said it before, there is a right way to do representation and a wrong way.
The RIGHT way; is to respect your customers, your fans and more importantly your characters.
When the character is lazy, boring and the whole existence of that character is: Insert X check box, there is no respect, its hitting a marker nothing else.
I was a huge fan of this franchise but only a year ago. Now I have walked away from the books, TH-cam videos, Citadel paints and of course minis. Why? Bending the knee to the facist movement known as woke.
The thing is that there's a perfect Legion that fits so well into this agenda and, personally, i would'nt mind. It's called *The Emperor's Children*. In that Legion you can have men, women, and everything in between.
