Ever since the update my spark has been jittery when i try to fly it starts its motors and seems to hesitate. It's not even letting me calibrate the controller. Does anyone know what's wrong with my drone?
Thanks, Ron, for the heads up. The OTG cable seems to work well with my iPad, still, I might need to try it without it given your comments. I have to admit, I'll always stay updated. BTW, just ordered a Mavic Air ... looking forward to getting it! Keep up the great vids! :)
Nice! If you like the SPARK...we'll, you'll just love the Mavic Air. Yeah, I don't use the OTG cable with the SPARK. I think it differs from person to person depending on many factors. Appreciate you always commenting and checking in to say hi. Much appreciated..... Channels growing steadily....😎😎😎
Nope..no update here. The last firmware video I did I went into detail about what version I'm still running. Also, waiting on DJI Support to get back to me about some questions I have about their press release on that April firmware update. I think screwed up on the description and meant to say "Panorama Mode' and NOT "Panama"...
I have a problem regarding to the beginners mode setting of this new update. It only limit your flight to 30m. Before the update it has no limitation and it is better than this new update.
Yes, this is often a problem when there are any new updates. Things get fixed but things also stop working as desired. In short, if your SPARK is NOT having any issues then do NOT upgrade firmware/software. Just because a new update is out it doesn't mean you should update. Many have learned this the hard way. I haven't updated my SPARK in months and have no plans to update any further as it's operating just fine. Hope that helps...
Yes, you can downgrade firmware using the 'DJI Assist' app. There are a couple of TH-cam videos out there on this. And if you need the 'DJI Assist' APP you can download off the DJI website here (Apple & Windows Version Available): www.dji.com/spark/info#downloads
Using ZTE z981, android ver 6.01, never had trouble with OTG. Turn on drone, wait to stabilize, turn on rc, wait to link up. plug into rc then phone, popup ask what app I want to use, with a list of apps for the drones.
my DJI spark has old firmware and i can not fly without a otg cable. It does not connect to the RC with the wi fi. I can not make the update because is requesting wi fi connection.
Really useful, many thanks for your video. I can understand DJI wanting to differentiate between the Mavic and the Spark, but there has been so much 'smoke and mirrors' concerning the OTG impact on the Spark that it's been hard for a total beginner like me to know what to do. I've gone the 'bundled' Spark route because of the relative unobtrusiveness of the Spark as against the Mavic... but we'll see how things go (I'm using an iPad Mini out in the wilderness areas of the UK). I'm putting myself in beginner mode for the next few flights and would be grateful of any further insights that you can share.
Got the galaxy s8 and the 1000 firmware update has so many problems with not connecting having loads of disconnections and not even getting video downlink some times
I'm in new york city.and just got it today the 26th. What I domt get is that i always used tog without any update and always worked flawlessly. I'm about to flight to see if anything really changed...thanks for sharing.
thanks for the video, I am looking forward to join the "spark" owners. I have seen your videos and many others and I am hooked like a tuna!!! What group do you associate with for spark drones?
Ever since this update my sparks video has been flickering, I have messaged DJI and no one seems to know how to fix it, I'm using the p20 pro phone, so it shouldn't be the phone, the spark has never been crashed/dropped. Any advice?
Ok so I see people are having problems after installing this update? I did the update on my android phone. Now my spark won't take off. Any suggestions?
Well the firmware update bricked my remote as it did for others on the forums. It will fail to update the remote and now refuses to connect via Wi-Fi even after resetting. Entire update has been a nightmare plus im on vacation
A very unusual part if this update was you were required to answer about 12 pretty simple questions about flying rules, it also warned if you bypassed this answering the questions more then 4 times it would not be good, I know one time I skipped a database update a lot for airports and my spark would only fly in slow mode till I did the data base update, it eliminated sports mode. But yes having the cable for Android systems will be great, as Ron does I use I use mini 4, so cable was still working for me before update
Interesting...thanks for the heads up. As of today (7/22/18), I still wasn't prompted there was a firmware update for the SPARK when I launched the DJI GO4 App...so didn't get a chance to see the questions. I think they did that on some of the previous Mavic Air firmware updates....I usually fly through the questions which is a little annoying when you get a notice in the field when trying to launch your drone.
WEeee RV The Johnston's I sold mine last month too many flyaways and would not fly in class d zones, I got the Anafi...I fly anything and anywhere I'm based in London
All of these people complaining about the spark and DJIs software, 3 months with this drone and I’ve never had a problem with the firmware or the drone itself. I would never trust another company. DJI is the Lexus of drones.
Totally understand....DJI has very much been slacking in fixing firmware bugs. Still waiting on some fixes for the Mavic Air. Fortunately, I did not do their last firmware update so not having some of the issues others are. Sometimes it pays to be patient.
Sorry, have no idea what your saying here. Please watch the entire video. The OTG Cable was designed for use between the remote controller and your mobile device. That being said, in the USA..I fly without the use of the OTG cable.
at 2:00 you say you can use an OTG cable to connect the spark (drone) to the remote controller. The OTG cable is to connect the controller to your phone. not the drone to anything.
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I started off doing workout videos but found not many people were watching them because of so many other 'fitness' related TH-camrs out there. I might have t incorporate a few gym workouts into my videos somewhere. Something for me to consider....thanks for the feedback. 👍👍
The last firmware update was June 8th 2018. After that update, everyone complained about video lag including myself. I did a rollback and i'm to scared to update anything with dji.
You might be confusing the last 'SPARK' firmware update with one of the other products like Mavic Pro. The last SPARK update was 12-21-2017. Here's a link to the last few SPARK updates; goo.gl/qD6SYG
Nate The Great No. Through the link, you are downloading it on your own terms. But, once you rollback; you have to turn off automatic updates or it will update to the new firmware next time you open the dji app. Check out Rolex0071 on his channel and he gives a better explanation. I like to think we are all part of a small community. Thanks!
i agree, even with some of the best android phones, i still have lags and issues with DJI products, even purchased a galaxy tab A specifically for this to try and still have issues.

Hah...already have one thumbs down. Must be the ex-wife..LOL
LOL! Maybe ... can't imagine why you'd get a thumbs down ... maybe it's just someone jealous of your arms? :D
All good....at least their watching.. LOL
i have problem after updates the firmware for my remote...
the wifi is disable....n red blink i get
Since the update, flying with WiFi is risky. Signal goes in and out. No issues using OTG.
Whats your dji go app version? Anyone here who updated the april 2019 dji go app version? Any problems in flying

Luckily I had already purchased nividia k1 shield before spark! Works great with tablet adapter! But very happy to see otg update!

I have a Galaxy S9 Plus and the cable setup works great now! I was hoping for the cable to be put in the update. Working great for me now.
Glad to hear!
Is it absolutely necessary to update everything when I use the OTG cable?
I am happy with the update and I found that the "sequence" of the cable does no longer matter.
Nice! Good to hear. 😎😎👍👍
i was flying with otg and android for a few month before this update
Since latest update. I can't fly safe with my otg cable. No battery life indicator. No GPS indicator. Can't read how high or how far I'm flying.
thanks for the video, I am looking forward to join the "spark" owners. I have seen your videos and many others and I am hooked like a tuna!!! What group do you associate with for spark drones?

Go back to previous Go 4 App; that is 4.1
Well the firmware update bricked my remote as it did for others on the forums. It will fail to update the remote and now refuses to connect via Wi-Fi even after resetting. Entire update has been a nightmare plus im on vacation

Good to know I use a iPhone to and I’m not downloading the new software either
Crashed my drone right after update.
Connection lost without OTG cable
I cannot use my otg cable no matter what I do. Android with spark.
But I use my tcg cable with a, spark all the time for last 6 months.. Is always works…..
Thanks very much for this information stay safe
I haven't been able to fly sparky for 2 months because of the last update ... I hope this fixes my android issues
WEeee RV The Johnston's I sold mine last month too many flyaways and would not fly in class d zones, I got the Anafi...I fly anything and anywhere I'm based in London
Yeah, I hear it's a totally different experience outside the USA. I can imagine London was nearly impossible to fly anywhere for any distance at all.
Crossing my fingers for you.....sounds promising from the forums so far.
Hopefully I'll get the chance to try the update soon!
Omg... neither sparky nor my mavic pro will fly now.. I foresee hours of DJI phone calls ahead...
Damn bro, how can I get tickets to that gun show. 💪💪

good analysis, thank you for sharing
How do I update the firmware? Can I do it with the app or must I plug it into the computer?
Can do it either way...DJI GO4 App or DJI Assist...link in description to a video tutorial.
Ok got it. I always thought that was a software update not firmware!
why are you purple?
That's what happens when you mix an Irishman with sun. :) Funny thing is...not the first time I've heard that.
I don't trust dji software , so I sold the spark and got an Anafi I'm not disappointed it a great drone
Totally understand....DJI has very much been slacking in fixing firmware bugs. Still waiting on some fixes for the Mavic Air. Fortunately, I did not do their last firmware update so not having some of the issues others are. Sometimes it pays to be patient.
you don't connect your spark to your controller with that cable -.- you're spreading wrong information.
Sorry, have no idea what your saying here. Please watch the entire video. The OTG Cable was designed for use between the remote controller and your mobile device. That being said, in the USA..I fly without the use of the OTG cable.

The only firmware update that I can find was on July 13th. Where did you find the 7-19-18 update for the spark?
Link to DJI announcement is in the description of video.
I've been using the OTG cable for about 6 months now. I also don't trust DJI software and will using the NLD hack.
M&K what is NLD?
M&K ......yes please tell what is the NLD hack
NoLimitDrohnes google it ;)
Hi. Great youtuber.. Lot of good information about drones.. Maybe to try some gym videos... "How to bench" :-)

PalmettoMoon if I roll back will the dji go 4 app alert me the firmware is out of date and force me to download it?

Problems after Problems after the Update
Sorry to hear that....I always suggest checking out the DJI forums first and see what people are experiencing. Hope things improve....
:(
DJi não tem respeito com seus clientes, atualizaçoes que so pioram o drone.
Before you upload a video, please pass the audio through an editor to remove the background noise! It really isn't rocket science.
What kind of editor you suggest?
DJI sucks with regards to Android, they need to get their act together or they are gonna lose more customers.
No Android suck
i agree, even with some of the best android phones, i still have lags and issues with DJI products, even purchased a galaxy tab A specifically for this to try and still have issues.
Sithorn Nuon that the reason i banned. Android and WIndows always problems
