    Just received my DJI Spark a few days ago and I am presently utilizing the same method with my Android 8 Active, however, I am using a shorter cord & it has worked flawlessly. Thx for your info, I have subscribed and am looking forward to future videos. Have a good one!

      And it also works with the DJI Goggles. Its a pity that DJI used a Micro USB connector on the Remote for the Spark. The Mavic has a full type A USB port so all data cables for Android and iPhone are usable.
      Make sure you are careful what cable and adapter you use the host in this case is the RC controller not the smartphone.
      I can only use this connection to fly the Spark. Wifi on an iPhone is that unreliable that it is un-flyable.

    nice video, just ordered a 90 degree micro USB to straight micro USB OTG cable from newegg. the reason this works is because without the cable, the controller and phone are connected through a wifi connection.... the cable makes it a hard wired connection instead. much the same as the difference between using a Wifi connection versus wired connection for your home internet setup. while a Wifi connection generally works really well, a wired connection is almost always much stronger.

    Awesome! Everyone always shows the OTG working with iPhones, first video I've seen using android. Thanks for posting! Now I REALLY want a Spark!!

    Another option to deal with the cable protrusion is to look at the MavMount system. It's a machined aluminum base that goes in the phone clamp part of the controller, with an adjustable position mounting for a phone or tablet. I have one for my Spark, and like that I can set the angle for best viewing, while keeping the controller in a comfortable hand position.

    For the cord fix, try using an android tablet if you have one. The cord will be out of the way and you’ll have the added advantage of a bigger screen for flying.

      BigBallVlogs it was mad distracting. If you need it on, assign a button you can reach while talking to the camera when you need to pull focus. Or check your lens, or software, it may be misfiring like you said. Props to the quality info tho; dji needs to keep up on this 👌🏽

      It's probably better to bump the ISO a little, set a higher aperture and turn off auto focus so your viewers don't feel motion sickness whilst you are sat down.

    If you don't want to use the bottom connector you can also buy a new cable for the side. I had the same problem with my mavic. turns out, the original cable that came with my mavic was faulty and would not let my S8 connect to the controller. the new cable I bought was exactly the same as the original. I have no more disconnect problems

  • @JosefHolland
    @JosefHolland 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The reason the device keeps connection better and you no longer lose signal is because you are not relying on your phones Wi-Fi.
    When you are connected to the controller you are actually using the OcuSync Transmission System from the controller and piping the information directly to your phone.

    • @Bigballvlogs
      @Bigballvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Josef Holland I don't think this Drone uses ocusync. I think that just on the Mavic

    • @Oshibkii
      @Oshibkii 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      OneManOneCamera F8 is an extremely high aperture and will result in really heavily overexposed images, and it also doesn't dictate whether or not the camera focuses better, that's on the user of the camera.

    I got the USB cable connection to work with the Spark Remote Controller > iPhone 6 Plus. Here's the signal path and the two connectors I used to make a custom wire harness.
    Spark Controller > Insignia OTG Micro USB to USB Type-A Adapter > Belkin MIXIT USB Type-A to 90-Degree (right angle) Lightning Cable > iPhone 6 Plus
    Route the right angle Lighting plug through the left-hand Controller arm so the cable will neatly tuck upward and back after it's plugged in to the iPhone. The Belkin MIXIT cable is 48" long so you'll have to coil the extra cable under the iPhone with a 10" piece of harness loop to keep everything neat. Secure iPhone in the Controller's Mobile Device Clamp. Plug the 90-Degree Lightning end of the harness into the iPhone.
    Here's the power up sequence and how to make the connection. iPhone WiFi is OFF.
    • Power up Remote Controller
    • Power up Spark
    • Turn on DJI Go 4
    • Plug the Micro USB end of the harness into the Controller. Dismiss error message "This accessory may not be supported". You should now see the RC Connected icon on the app screen in the lower left. Touch "Start Flight" and you should be RTG. If you can see the camera view on your screen you're all set. Go Fly Your Drone!

    Thank you so much for your very informative video I really enjoy watching the videos they are down to earth and to the point! I have a question regarding the spark a little bit off-topic if I can ask you? I am using the DJI spark with the latest firmware update everything is perfect I'm using it with an OTG cable as you showed in your video, I don't believe it's working properly maybe you can shed some light on it? When I take the Drone up to the say 150 ft, and I decide I want to bring it down and I push and hold the left stick in mode 2 to begin a descent if I continue to hold a stick down it seems like the Drone comes down at a quicker pace and the only way to stop the rapid descent is to push the left stick past halfway and then it will throttle back up and eventually stabilize pretty much what I'm saying is if I continue to hold the stick down it will drop and if I let go of the stick and allow the radio to RECenter the Drone will continue to descend and eventually hit the grass! The only way to stop this descent is to push up on the left stick past halfway like I explained I'm sorry for the long winded description but it's the only way that I can fully explain to you what's going on?.

    Thanks for sharing this information! I have a Spark, and I don't know what is wrong with the DJI app or maybe with my LG smartphone, but using the cable, is the ONLY way my Spark flies. I have the same unconfortable position of the cable between my fingers. I ordered an 8 inches adaptor cable, but meanwhile, what I do is that I insert the phone only halveway into the RC's slots. Works fine for me, and the phone is held securely, even though it is not inserted all the way in. Try that!

    Thanks for the tip. What if you forget to turn off the Wifi but have the cable connected. Which connection takes precedence? The cable or the Wifi?

  • @CarlosAustin
    @CarlosAustin 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Apparently DJI was proud of their wireless technology that they did not disclose you can hardwire with a cable from your device to the RC. But...this seems to be the best solution for the best connection. Sad they did not include a cable to begin with. If you happen to find a good cable that is elegant to plug in to this...please post the link of where to get it. Thanks.

    Another reason why your phone ipad or tablet well work when you plug into the micro usb which I notice on the dji.com page and that is if you read what you need to connect DJI Goggles - HDMI (Type A) Female to HDMI (Type C) Male Adaptor

    Hey, and thank you for your honest review... My question is not even about the Drone, I already made up my mind to expand my Drone Fleet with a SPARK, WITH the combo stuff, I want controller and the much further range it gives you, +2 extra Batts. 4 extra propellers, a special and perfect made carrying Case, to protect your expensive stuff and a Charger there can take ALL 3 batts. at the same time, amazing! And think how easy it is to bring on vacation, and who the F wanna fly 2 miles away to make Vacation pics? I Go there man^^. There I would exactly use a SPARK, OR the (a bit bigger) Mavic Pro, to make great Vacation Shots, and make a lot of Aerial super sharp Videos. You can show it to all your friends, upload it, save it and make your own collection of your life in pic, for I tell you we will love them when we get older, and they will never lose quality as of the high-Tech age we live in. My DJI Phantom Pro 3 with 4k cam, I can forget about bring that anywhere, at less I am in car all time so I use it purely at or close to home or shorter Road Trips to Sweden, Norway, Germany and Poland. OR willing to take the chance to put it in a suitcase, and HOPE it not would break under the throwing and stacking of cargo + the pure risk of losing your suitcase. Personally I'm neither that rich or risk willing, and IF I go to see AND film the Pyramids(I bet there are loads of regulations of how close you can fly to them, thx God they can be seen from the moon^^) but Imagine I go with that main purpose and lose it in my suitcase, then I rather have it as hand luggage. And here Both Mavic Pro and Spark especially is the obvious choice, even the Spark not can do 4k, but it still kick ass. It DO have a few 'Childhood Diseases I would like to see better, but I guess that lies in better software updates, it still misread movements a lot, loose connection. Like it do not fly away when you wave too fast, or making unclear hand/arm movements. That is clear to me after watching over 100 Videos about the Spark. It need be far better so I expect a VERY fast Spark 2, and I wonder if not it pay to wait... Maby software updates can't do it... Here it's VERY clear DJI not care for if we get a ½ bad product, just the hand movements and there sell will not suffer, so they will just make a Spark 2 fast. I should know very bad if not already the Papers and prototype for the S2 already is there :) P.S I say in the beginning that I have a question, and pls don't take offence :) What kind of watch are you wearing, I collect that too, and think I saw a glimpse of a nice watch :) What is it for a watch if I may ask?? Thank you for a good video.

    Nice video and thanks for the tips. I also use the Samsung S7 although I've not seen the disconnect problem, I like having a cable, seems like a better idea than two WiFi's battling one and other. I built a little platform with a piece of 1/4 inch thick plexiglass that fits in place of the phone in the controller, then mounted a small Camera ball head attached to a phone selfie clamp. I like the one from MonFroto. With this setup it lifts the phone up about 1.5" so it also lets your hands not accidentally hit the screen on the phone which of course can change the drone setup or view. Let me know if you want a photo, the setup is really nice since I can now have the remote and the controller at two totally separate angles.

    Hello, bought mine last week (havent known about the mavic air, maybe I send mine back). I got a question: I want to use active track will skiing off piste (skitouring). I think I need the rc and the phone to activate active track, but for skiing I have to put it away. Then the sticks of the rc could start to control the spark, while I'm on my way down. Would it work, if I bring the spark in position, pack the rc safe in the bag (sticks locked), but a connected long otg cable to my phone I could use for activating active track and recording a video, and then screen of and in my pocket while going down. Do you understand my problem (no keylock on the rc) and do you think this would be a solution for this kind of problem. Phone as rc doesnt work due to the 100m problem...
    thanks for the video and answering my question.

    • @Bigballvlogs
      @Bigballvlogs  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally I dont trust active track that much to not have my had on the stop button when using it. We used it to track RC cars and it lost them and locked on to other thing and went flying in that direction. The only way I would do it is have some one following with the controller in case it looses you

    can you do a flight test to see if distance is increased?

    • @Bigballvlogs
      @Bigballvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JPVideos I can but the cable connection to the phone should not effect distance. the drone is connected to the remote so as long as the drone can communicate remote distance wise you the remote can send that signal to your phone. In previous range test with the p3s it would keep flying while my signal was dropped to the phone. When got a signal back by moving the antenna it had flown 100 yards.. I personally don't recommend trying to stretch the battey on this trying to fly miles. when it goes it goes fast so a head wind on this tiny thing may keep it from making it back.

    • @JPVideos81
      @JPVideos81 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the cable connection basically provides a better video feed to the phone? I own a p3s and the live feed over wifi is glitchy when I get several hundred feet away.

    • @Bigballvlogs
      @Bigballvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JPVideos I think it does. I don't get the wifi latency but I still get glitches if I am not pointing the transmitter in the direction of the drone.

      +DEEs NUTs deeval not enough to make a difference. What you get is a solid connection. I was fly with out the cable and I kept getting like a one second delay with the iPhone my android S7 disconnected every minute or so. Boy he were fixed with the cable. Funny name Dees Nuts...😊

    It's not the point of adding a phone or tablet, it's the remote that stops the signal drop, it's the wifi signal that drops, this just gives you constant video feed... Works for tablets as well with a better view...

    Just saw this and thought I would post! the Spark is a Wifi Drone that uses 2.4 and 5.8 ghz the cable when connected kills the dual band and only gives you 5.8 (DJI) didnt talk about it as they don't recommend you fly the spark this way from what I have read, Im not sure why people cant just use the unit as it was designed, tricking stuff and trying stuff that is not in the owners guide will cause others to post false information that will only confuse new pilots

  • @artministratorle

    Another Question: i´ve got the same one (white fly more combo) and recognized, there´s a microUSB port on the tripple charger.
    But once I´ve put there a micro USB cable in (and the other end to a powerbank supporting QuickCharge3 or any random USB wall charger) the LED of the charger flashs green (for a half second), then red LED appears and nothing happens. Argh!
    Is that the same for your device? Any idea if this tripple charger from the fly more combo is NOT designed to charge batteries on the go? :( that would be sad cause won´t buy an additional DJI powerbank or "extra charger" ^^

    • @Bigballvlogs
      @Bigballvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +LEJ Copteros I think the charger needs the power supply if you are charging not than on battery because cell chargers can very in output. When i tried on battery and a my s7 fast charger it worked. You may also be able to use it with a car charger

    The OTG cable plugged into a Spark Remote and a Galaxy S7 can create other issues. With the cable, I lose the satellites connection! I contacted support and DJI said this is not a supported feature. That is why its a secret. If you have issues, there is no support becuase the spark is built around that wifi connection. The cable created MORE problems and made the system less reliable so be careful, its not a panacea.

    I''m using a Huawei Mate 9 on Android 7, and using the OTG from Micro USB to my Type -C connector , apparently , I just couldn't get the connectivity as per your setup to the Spark remote controller. Do you know what's the issue here ?

    • @Bigballvlogs
      @Bigballvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +KS Chan sorry i don't. I have an S7. Try stopping go4. Power up the remote and let it connect. While on your home screen plus in the phone and first then the Otg. It should ask what app should be default for this device and give your options from all your drone software. Select one. After you will have to delete the app default to use a different software. Hope it helps

      Thanks for the quick reply ....When I connect the USB, the phone prompt me to choose USB for one of the 5 options (1).Charge only , (2) . Device file manager (MTP) Use your computer to transfer and manage files , (3). Camera (PTP) Let you transfer photos using camera software and transfer any files on computers that don't support MTP (4). Reverse Charging , charge the other connected device (5). MIDI, use device for MIDI input . I have tried all 5 none of them works ....is that my phone App issues ?

      No, S8+ has USB type C, so you need an OTG dongle with one of those.
