I did my research and agree with your review in that the Sony has better autofocus. However, I ended up buying the Nikon because their colors out of camera are the best in the industry.
the autofocus on the sony is veryyyy impressive , but i feel like if you boost the autofocus settings faster in the nikon it could compete better. i feel like the standard setting gives the nikon a more realistic manual look. the a7III is great i gotta give it to sony.. im nikon 2
Yes, even when I was with Nikon in film, they had a rep of just getting exposure and colors right out of the box better than others. Nikon’s Matrix Metering legacy, yo.
I use both, they Work fine for my work as portraits, the Nikon is only better in colors, and i like that more. Sony AF is more trust, but I don't have any problem with both. It also depends on your style of photography.
I'm thinking to change from sony a7 iii to nikon z6 II. I usually do wedding, street portraits and ceremonies. I like nikon colors. The fact, I don't know how it will work nikon z6 II autofocus... Advice???

both are great camera's. all boils down to what glass you can summon and at what price. to my liking sony has better options here, in terms of value for money. let's not kid ourselves, if you buy one of these cameras, money is an issue to consider for you, and lenses will coast you a lot more with nikon, even if you love it's body more over sony. but if you are already a nikon guy with lenses in your bag, you can safely go for nikon without looking back. my personal choice is Alpha 7iii, but there will be many to go for nikon, both still have a fair share of their market here...
I don’t understand how people say Nikon lens cost more Sony glass is expensive and most people who buy Sony full frame want g master glass. Nikon glass is way cheaper especially on the second hand market because Sony is more popular these days go on eBay and you will see anything in Sony g master usually cost more than Nikon z glass
All in All, the Sony still has an advantage in quite low priced Objectives WITH Autofocus and by beginning of 2023 it is traded far cheaper than the Z6II. Nikons Price for the 24-105 f/4 is what destroyed it when I compared both, as I wanted that optics. Including current Sony Cashbacks, it was 2099 for an A7III/SEL24-105 f4.0 OSS bundle for me, compared to 2799 for the Nikon. While I would have loved the Nikons better Display and Viewfinder; The price difference AND the far superior Autofocus of the Sony made the decision for me. Not seeing my pic properly on the display might be disappointing; But fucking up the picture because the Nikon focuses the dogs ears instead of face, or focusing slightly off during sport photos... Wasn't worth it for me. With my full Objectives wishlist, the Sony goes about 1000 bucks cheaper. Not counting a 400mm; Which is 900 Bucks for Sony (Sigma) and 3000 (!) for the Nikon. Meh. Sure, i could use the Nikons larger Bayonet for Adapters... But that would make the Autofocus even worse. For Studio fotography, I would have chosen the Nikon. For Party, Sports, Wildlife and so on... The Sony still is the better choice in my opinion.
Your pricing was just a tad bit to early…my experience was the exact opposite. A7iii is still going for $1500-$1800 used. I just bought the Nikon z6ii from the actual Nikon website on sale like 4 days ago for $1400 brand new. The affordable new price of the Nikon is why I bought it.

2 days ago I also bought Z6 ii with Z24-70 in USD2050 brand new and had a gift of CF Express 128G + Card reader.
AF is a major part in camera
Im not sure if the A7 AF is better now. The Z6 II AF is supposed to be better in video.
The autofocus performance of the Sony a7 iii is faster
