I personally listened to all 53 covers on the Blacklist albums, most done by well established superstar level artists and these girls, 21 years old or under, produced what is to me by far the best one on the album. Metallica had specifically asked the artists to go for it and not just do a straight cover, but most of these well established artists chickened out, while The Warning having just recently started to be known and freshly signed, still went for the jugular and all of this done in just over a week. 🤯
On the first video…you nailed the undiscussed secret to their success…. The sound (and video quality) the invisible 4th member of the band is the Dad. As good as they were so young I argue they would have not gone viral if the sound / video quality was bad. It is aspect of their success that goes overlooked. The Dad is the CEO of the company and is a huge part of their success.
Looking forward to your series on reimaginations down the ages. Clapton paying homage to Dylan with a touch of reggae to Knocking on Heaven's Door used to be my favourite till I came across The Warning. This reimagination provides a glimpse of their virtuosity as musicians. Numerous bands, including famous ones like Motorhead, had covered Enter Sandman across decades. Out of the 50 odd groups invited by Metallica for Black List album about 20 (including Tool) revisited this legendary song. None of them had the creativity to think outside the box & the conviction go beyond the iconic structure of Enter Sandman. By slowing down to halftime, by inverting its structure & by introducing the refrain in middle with "Hush now baby" The Warning finally completed what James Hetfield set out to compose decades ago - an eerie lullaby. At Teatro Pau showcased her phenomenal talent as a background vocalist. Sometimes staying lower than Dany's vocals, sometimes ramping up power with higher range Pau almost sang the whole song. Ale stayed in the lower frequencies - at times almost inaudible. The videography is confusing as it often focusses on Ale while Pau is surfing up and down in the mix.
Metallica’s recording of the Black album celebrated its 30th anniversary and the band invited 53 bands and artists to reimagine songs from the track list. Alessia Cara a Grammy winning pop star was approached and she has the same management agency that The Warning does. The collaboration was suggested and the song was born. The Warning composed and arranged and Alessia added arrangements of the vocals and Harmonies. It was recorded during Covid lockdown and Alessia recorded her parts in Canada and The Warning in Mexico, they had 10 days create the song, record it and deliver it. Metallica give it their thumbs up and this version that the girls did was the only one that did what Metallica asked for, a reimagining.
DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. in the OMV, Dany and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale and Pau join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of *Enter Sandman* but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
Their basement 9,12 & 14 . The cover of Foo Fighters, The Pretender is really good.. that music video with Alessia Cara ( the Prejection on the wall girl) is friggin awesome stuff.. halftime grove.. WOW.. Alessia Cara couldn't be there in person because of Covid travel restrictions, so she was a projection...I'm getting pretty old in years, all of a sudden I wish to live a lot longer just to witness these girls when they hit their stride. I believe they're just getting warmed up....you know what I mean... 🤟🎶☮️
As they have said in interviews, they never intended any of this to happen. This first video was done to show their grandparents how their music lessons had come along and because it was too big to email, their dad put it on his TH-cam channel so the grandparents could watch it. Then the family went on a cruise and came back to Ellen and everything else and the rest is, as they say... "history". Nice quality reaction. One other point... re: the room - dad sold his collector harley to build a proper studio for the girls. Take Care David
Metallica didn't collaborate with the girls for the reimagined version. They simply invited them to do it for the Black Album 30th Anniversary "Blacklist" album, based on seeing, remembering and being impressed by the girls' earlier cover when they were kids. Kirk Hammett actually commented on that early cover saying: "The drummer kicks maximum ass."
As I understand it, Luis (their father who worked as an audio engineer) had originally built out the basement to be a small recording studio, for him to do some side work with local performers as an adjunct to - and perhaps a transition away from - his "ordinary day job" he had working somewhere else. He hadn't really lined up a lot of business in this side effort, and the girls kind of took over the space in a _"Daddy, can we please use the studio to practice in, if you're not using it right now??"_ sort of way. But the end effect is that there is a deadening panel at least on the back (side, from this perspective) wall, perhaps other sound-deadening insulation in the other walls, and an enclosed and relatively sound-proof board and recording room through the glass to the left. There are also mounts for lights, microphones, cameras etc. as well as the electrical infrastructure built-in to the room, to allow all the wiring to be neatly hidden in conduit under the floor and behind the walls. There are also full-height mirrors (like in a gym) on the wall "behind" our view, so performers can see themselves if they wish to practice on-stage movements or poses; the ladies use this feature extensively - and perhaps may have requested it. EDIT: Another observation, especially of the "live" version of the _Blacklist Album_ tune. And really, almost all their performances after that initial Lunario QOTMS introductory performance. In an interview (I believe it was the _Tidal Rising_ documentary of them that they did), when asked what professions they would think they would be if they hadn't chosen professional band. Dany replied fairly quickly, with only a moment of thought, that she'd like to be a teacher... and the connection I made in my mind was her flair for the dramatic while on stage. She "acts" during their tunes, taking on different characters and personalities to fit the songs they are playing... and consider - look back on all your favorite teachers in school; from elementary through college. Didn't most of them - or even all of them - share that sense of making things dramatic?? Because that's what sticks in my head, personally. I think there is a pretty close connection between being a "performer" and being a "teacher", and if you can do one well, you probably can do the other well, too. Just a thought, randomly, as I watched the end of your excellent reaction to this "trilogy" showing their growth and change through what to most of us are just a few years...
gr8 reaction ... my thoughts exactly ... i think they really caught the feeling of the song... it is more ominous then metallica's ... i think when metallica actually saw it, they said wow, why didnt we do it like that lol ... metallica didnt have anything to do with the rewrite, they told the warning to make it their own... and in 10 days they did this from rewrite to master ... r0ck 0n c4ndy ... namaste ... twa ... \m/
This reimagined song is brilliant. Every aspect of the song is turned upside down, while always maintaining a hint of the original. And the ending… the perfect nod to a legendary song. These ladies are straight up rock stars.
What a number of Reactors have said about the reimagining is that it focuses more attention in the lyrics than the original. It was penned as a lullaby, but the original never really had that feel to me. AC and The Warning’s version has more of a creepy lullaby feel…which I think is great.
Metallica invited 53 artists or bands to provide covers for their Blacklist album, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Black album. They invited Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara (who appears as the projection and sings the 1st verse in the official MV), but she apparently didn’t feel comfortable covering a Metal song on her own, so a collaboration with The Warning was suggested. They had about a week to rewrite the song, record and mix it, with Alessia contributing her vocals via internet because of the COVID travel restrictions at the time. All profits from the Blacklist album go to charity. 😎👍
Luis Villarreal, their father, is an audio engineer. I believe The Cave used to be his recording studio, so that may explain the sound quality you mentioned. Genius is an accurate term for this new version of an amazing classic. I find it amusing how James supposedly imagined Enter Sandman as a lullaby, and The Warning manages to make the song even more like that original idea.
In the first of these videos (in the basement) there is a room past the window you can see a corner of behind Ale. They have a mixing board in there, not a huge one you would find in a profesisional studio, but a pretty good setup for a home basement. Who runs the board I think depends very much on who is available. There are a number of people in their inner group capable of operating it. There are cameras and lighting on the ceiling which lets them do multiple angles, and often their manager will be recording on an iphone as well. oh, by the way, there is a 4th version of their Enter Sandman now, as in some of their recent shows in Mexico they brought in a string section.
Nice reaction! Some fans say, delete this from their setlists, better play one own song more… but… this is their song! Rearranged, one guitar only, new layers, and these vocal harmonies! That is exactly what Metallica wanted for the Blacklist Album! New ideas for these iconic song! They will play this and more shredders like Evolve at WACKEN Open Air next year, they will love it at Wacken! Thanks, greetings from Germany 👍⚡️🤘
They were told that for the Black Album they could do anything they wanted with it. "Play it backwards if you want". So they did (sort of) The Warning played Metallica's outro as their intro. And they played Metallica's intro as their outro. And they played it more as a hunting lullaby, as the original song was intended, according to James Hetfield. As you said, Genius. If you want another song for a 'reimagining'. please take a look at our little Aussie girl, Kasey Chambers, with the brilliant production of Eminem's 'Loose Yourself'. Totally approved by the man himself. It is a version for today's generation. It tends to leave reactors speechless.
They only had 1 week to reimagine Tape it and get Alesia Cara in Canada and then get it to Metallica's production team. Talk about Pressure . Also Dad said to them lets Tape you guys and send it to Nana and Gramps. The file was too big to send in email so he said lets put it on youtube..The rest is history.
They have a nice concert at their school, Liceo, when they are very young. Mostly covers and a few originals. The cover of Muse Hysteria and Warning songs Free Falling and Escape the Mind are some of my faves. This is just after they went viral. Ale is 10.
Very cool seeing you react to all three versions back to back like this. The first version is a very good straight up cover. What makes it amazing is that it is performed by kids. You have a 14 year old who is singing lead and handling the guitar parts, including a solo. A 12 year old who kills it on the drums while doing backing vocals. and a 9 year old bassist who does a great job while playing a bass that is the same size as her. That, and as you said, they are tight. They aren't just individually good musicians, they already play well as a group. The second version with Alessia Cara is amazing for a number of reasons, not just the final product. This was their first collaboration with anyone. It was done on short notice, and under difficult circumstances due to covid. They are collaborating with someone who has a different style than they do. They adjust the style, and make the best use of everyone's voices. You have four people who can sing, and the harmonies are amazing. The video is both visually, and audibly stunning because they did such a great job of using what they had to work with. The third live version has more energy and drive, and rocks harder that the second one. It suits The Warnings live playing style better. It still retains a lot of the eeriness that the second version has while being darker and heavier. All the versions show off different aspects of the band. Looking forward to you doing the basement tapes, or the Liceo school concert videos.
Their basement studio is affectionately known as The Warning Cave. They have lotsa content from there spanning many years and it doesn’t change much appearance wise except for the quality of the equipment over time. One thing you might be interested in is a 5 part video featuring Bugs Gonzales from Los Lobos visiting them. If I remember correctly it was between XXICB and QOTMS albums. I’m sure TWA will give you many more ideas.
The only involvement Metallica had in this re-imagined version was to ask them to do a cover and do whatever they they wanted to it. It was all The Warning and Alessia Cara. Metallica loved it so much that they put it as the first song on the Black List album. As for the sound of them in their basement studio- their dad is a sound engineer so you get the best he can do in that space.
it was placed first on the Black List album because the songs are in the original album order with sub ordering based on the artists' or group's names... "Cara" comes before each of the other ES submissions alphabetically...
Although you did not mention them Ale and Dany were great in the basement with Dany nailing the solo. Pau and Ale were glad because if she messed up they would have to have started from the start. They were not as happy seeing Dany practicing her James Hetfield face however. I don't think any of them but Dany could sing the rockier parts of the song but who knows in the future.
I’m loving tagging along on your TW journey! The Warning Cave is hallowed ground for TWA, literally everything they write starts there. Please include Dull Knives in your basement series.
I think this triple play is a really good showing of how good they were young, and how far they have come. I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this reimagined version came along. A lullaby where Alessia very sweetly puts you to bed, then Dany rouses the troops, Pau shares a little prayer, and the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one. And live it really rocks hard. At two of their recent shows in Monterrey and Mexico City, they even added a string section for the performances. That was a treat to see live.
On the 2014 cover: Pau and Dany grab attention, but the more I watch it, the more I am drawn to Ale. The bass is often the groove of the song (seen especially when Dany is soloing). At her age, Ale is tremendous. And their reimagining of ES is amazing. It's funny to read critiques that can't move beyond the original take. Their musical landscapes are very limited.
Ale is tremendous at any age. Imagine needing to keep up with her incredibly precocious sisters who are 2.5 and 4.5 years older than her? It’s mind boggling. Dani and Pau call her the backbone of the band, for obvious reasons. All 3 ladies are riveting in their own way but, I have to admit, Ale is my favorite.
I'm so satisfied that you did these in the logical order. It just makes more sense, and everyone can have theirs at the end of the day. Lots of bands, including both the Beatles and Metallica, do covers, and it's a great experience when done well. Personally, I hope DPA eventually live down their fear of being pigeonholed as a cover band. Putting their own delightful spin on someone else's song is one of their superpowers.
It still amazes me how talented they were at that age, but the reimagined one is all theirs. Metallica told them to do whatever they wanted with the song, but not the lyrics. It's the first song on the 30 Anniversary Black album, so I'm sure Metallica really liked it.
The last cover song they did (considering Enter Sandman as a re-imagining, not a cover) is Atlas Rise by Metallica. There is a very good version of that song from The Warning Cave. Enjoying this journey with you.
I consider the reimagined version of Enter Sandman to be a TW original, and it's one of their best. Some reactors seem to think that if they don't yap over the song (which, it seems, makes them miss half of it), and pause every 20 seconds, they're not reacting, they often even apologize for being too quiet. You are proof that you can be quiet, and not pause, and still make it clear what you think about a song, whenever a subtle smile graces your face, or you start to bob your head ever so slightly. I am a bit of an introvert, I don't jump around like a lunatic when I listen to music, banging my head around so I wake up with whiplash the next morning, so I relate to the more quiet and laid back reactors, like yourself.
The people in my life would tell you that you would be the first person to call me "Quiet and laidback"!. lol I do plenty of headbanging alone or on stage to songs I know well. When I am learning or "De-constructing" a song however, I try to do my very best to listen. I, too, get very frustrated with reactors that continually stop a song to talk about something they couldn't have possibly figured out about the song yet. It's an annoying approach to critical listening and I determined I would avoid it at all costs. Thanks for the comment and your visit!!
@@RockCandy-ix3nn Well, you come across that way in your reactions, and that's what I like, you listen to the song, so you know what to actually talk about once the song ends. That doesn't mean that you can't headbang when you're listening to music outside your reaction channel of course, you adapt to the situation, some reactors seem to always be on a constant caffeine trip 😆
Hey Rock Candy dude! Their father is an Engineer and had a recording studio for a while, so he knew how to set up the "The Warning Cave". The walls are covered in fabric wallpaper and the ceiling is acoustic ceiling and the rugs on the floor help too. And the opposite wall is all mirror, so they can practice their moves too. Also, the window by Ale is into an engineering booth with both sound and video equipment for the space. It is some high quality recording space. Metallica originally asked Alessia Cara to cover a song for the Blacklist Album. Metallica's only instructions to all 53 artists who participated in the album was: Turn it upside down and inside out, but keep the original lyrics. That's All! Alessia and The Warning share the same international management Company, and their CEO, Chris Smith, suggested the collaboration with The Warning. Keep in mind, that the reimagined version was done in EIGHT DAYS, START TO FINISH to make the album deadline. And Alessia Cara was in Toronto working via Zoom with Producer Matt Squire and The Warning in Monterrey, MX. They said their process was to strip the original to it's core elements and rewrite it as a pop song, then Rockify (Warnify) it! Still mind boggling to me. You MUST see them live to appreciate how good they are. What they are all doing is incredibly difficult to do so well, and they make it look EASY! Seeing them live is like watching fish swim or birds fly, it is what they were born to do and it is effortless to them. I have seen some of the greatest acts of all time, and I have never been so enamored with a band in my 57 years as a rock fan.
Thanks RC for doing all 3 it's so much fun to see them back to back like this. Lars said do what you want just don't change the lyrics and Alessia in Canada and TW in Mexico did it in 10 days during Covid. Amazing to be able to put this masterpiece together under those circumstances very impressive.⚡ The harmonies in the live version are stunning and may be my favorite part. 🔥I prefer the live with Dany singing the whole song her voice matches this song perfectly. Alessia has a beautiful voice and was awesome in the MV. Saving the iconic riff for the end is genius and very respectful to Metallica. DPA kill it and keeping Alessia's backing vocals really add to the performance. This was on Metallica's Blacklist album and was the 1st track. 🤘⚡🔥
in the 2014 rendition, did you notice what i spoke of in another video comment when we were talking about Dany's finger placement? specifically how she uses her little finger in the solo and then switches to her ring finger for the upcoming bends... TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
They play this song at every show since they made it. The Live version at the August Teatro show was #64 for the year. They had around 100 shows that year. They have been jamming in front of crowds for ten years now, and they grew up doing this. They "look" naturally relaxed on a stage, because they really are. Dany said she is not a professional speaker, but put her on a stage, and she is a professional singer. Knowing what she means by that, explains a lot about her.
I really enjoy your reactions clips. I like your genuine reaction to the music and your expert insight into playing and performing Rock. The first time I heard Alessia Cara and The Warning's version of Enter Sandman, I thought it was very clever. I liked what they did with changing it and turning it into something new. However as one that rocked-out countless times to the original, during the original listening, I felt it didn't quite grab me the way the original did. That is until the end when they bring in the original riff of which we are all so familiar. By withholding that riff to the very end, it becomes so satisfying to finally hear it, and for me it changes the entire experience elevating it. Now months later, it is one of my favorite songs and I dare say, I actually prefer it to the original.
You'd have to watch a few fan videos to see that Dany does a trick to hide her pick so she can pluck the strings with her fingers. You can hear it in the prayer. Her hand goes up to her hair, the pick is flipped between her index and second finger, then the hand goes down, "Hush little baby..." as she plucks octaves, then she flips the pick into the normal position for the build.
Hey RC, you've probably already got the point. TW reimage the song, BUT Alessia Cara actually was the one telling they should do the signature TW Woooo, in the song! Her projection on the wall was such a great idea. Not sure Yvan, who's the guy doing and thinking of their videos and communications work already was on board, but that could look like his work. Anyway, the live performance video editing is his work and he's really good at it. Love Pau being the "spooky" one reciting the prayer in the official version, it's a fantastic video. BUT, my favorite really is the live version where DPA all sing and have their parts.
So awesome that we can actually watch The Warnings progression, from the very beginning, and from the looks of things, they are no where near their peak yet!
Damn girls!! I'm an old Metallica fan...My eyes filled uncontrollably with tears while shivers crawled down my spine!!!!!! These girls have a pure talent in writing and arranging songs! What a masterpiece!
Yeah this is just brilliant. I really love the live version. This whole concert is fire! Thanks for the review!I think Metallica just told them to keep some of the original lyrics, but otherwise have fun with it. They only had about 10 days or so to do the whole thing from start to finish. There are a number of interviews where they talk about the process.
This suits them. I like that insight a lot. That was fun, thanks! As others have echoed, if you want something from the Warning Cave, try Dull Knives. Best version of that song IMO.
That second one had a fourth person, Alessia Cara, singing the main vocals. That music video was the version of the song that Metallica put on their Black List album (all covers of songs from the Black album, at Metallica's invitation). The third clip was the same arrangement, but without the added singer.
I have digging through my archives and lists lately, and have found a lot of stuff that I forgot about. When I became a Patreon supporter for the Warning, I decided to actually keep some notes and I have never done this before. Now its years of notes. I wanted to add some more information and add several more video clips regarding this Sandman Series. We all know that the sisters were contacted by Metallica and issued the challenge, and by the way, you have a week. And don't make it a plain cover , but make it different, and play it backwards if you want, but do not change the lyrics. After the sisters recorded the Sandman cover in 2014, that got Metallica's attention, especially James Hetfield. There is a lot of information that is flying around and not all of it is accurate. I have added several links for you to look at below: First, Dany talks about what happened and she is responding in English and Spanish. If you watch the first 10 minutes, you will get the idea. She said they had the song redone and recorded in less than a week, her words. They were worried about changing such an iconic song, and I will let Dany say that in the link below. Dany's comments on what really happened when they were contacted by Metallica th-cam.com/video/12HWb_GDcdU/w-d-xo.html Enter Sandman recording behind the scenes in the studio th-cam.com/video/IjWZlZMnqj4/w-d-xo.html Enter Sandman behind the scenes for the Music Video. They had to deal with Bats ... lol. th-cam.com/video/RFVJMfZ2AgM/w-d-xo.html The sisters get their Blacklist album delivered. th-cam.com/video/1X_a_Z5I21w/w-d-xo.html Alessia Cara shows up to perform with the Warning. This was just more fun than anything. It was the only time they have done this. th-cam.com/video/l2nFH8zVw0s/w-d-xo.html They did a Zoom call with Alessia to discuss the project - Skip over the first 8 minutes. th-cam.com/video/etx_HKA_b7E/w-d-xo.html Sorry this is so long, but there is a lot.
OK folks, I just remembered that I have one more. Recently, the sisters did an interview with Shiprocked and they will be playing on a cruise in Feb. I wish I could go. In the interview, they answer a couple of questions regarding the Warning Cave and how it was decided to play The Iconic Enter Sandman in 2014. Also, for that song, Dany studied her Metallica scowl in the mirror to get it right, all of this to send to their grandparents. The Cave was a TV room according to Pau. Its in their own words, and the interview is really hilarious at times. Very funny. But for these two questions, start at 41:30 and watch for 5 minutes. Pau has a funny comment on Dany's solo. You cannot make this stuff up. th-cam.com/video/C3OszWPCGc0/w-d-xo.html
@RockCandy - I have read elsewhere that Metallica asked them not to do a straight cover, but that apparently was the most input they had in this project. I also have read that the reason this version of ES is the first on the Blacklist Album is because Metallica liked this one best, but I think it's because Alessia's name begins with A.
If you want a great one from the basement (The Warning Cave), do Dull Knives from De(Tour). Trust me ;) Also, a great older cover from there is Resistance by Muse. And they did an entire quarantine show during Covid Lockdown. It was AMAZING! Very chill, with them talking between songs and being funny, with the live audience only being their parents, but streamed live on 3 platforms with over 15k ppl watching total. And Dany's famous purple socks dancing. LOL
It’s amazing how they took the live version of this song to another level. The official song is good in its own right but nothing against Alessia Cara but it’s too “poppy” for me. I agree that the live version “suits them”. They have the knack for finding the sweet spot between hard rock and metal. Always pleasing to the ears.
Yes! And GnR did Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" and Van Halen did the Kink's "You Really Got Me". Three Dog Night did "Joy to the World" which was a re-purposed Christian song named "Jeremiah was a Prophet". Judas Priest did "The Green Manalishi" by Fleetwood Mac. The list is endless and sometimes gives you insight into how the principle members of a band might think musically. Thanks for the comment!

"Hey...we need a little kid to do the bedtime prayer part...oh, wait!"
Their Dad is an audio engineer, probably helped with the sound
On the first video…you nailed the undiscussed secret to their success…. The sound (and video quality) the invisible 4th member of the band is the Dad. As good as they were so young I argue they would have not gone viral if the sound / video quality was bad. It is aspect of their success that goes overlooked. The Dad is the CEO of the company and is a huge part of their success.
that first version in the basement must have been a serious Holy Shit ! moment for the parents
That live version of Sandman is incredibly good. Not sure if I've ever seen a young band (age 17-22 here) perform at this level. Very impressive.
Wow, that was great ... wait, okay that was great too ... omg, that was freakin' great.
FWIW: they had 10 days because the final adjusted invitation including both artists didn't arrive until then... once it arrived, it was GameOn!
DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment!
Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice.
in the OMV, Dany and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale and Pau join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of *Enter Sandman* but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹

His father is an audio engineer, so "the cave" (their basement studio) is a proper studio.
Take Care
David
Great thinking!
gr8 reaction ... my thoughts exactly ... i think they really caught the feeling of the song... it is more ominous then metallica's ... i think when metallica actually saw it, they said wow, why didnt we do it like that lol ... metallica didnt have anything to do with the rewrite, they told the warning to make it their own... and in 10 days they did this from rewrite to master ... r0ck 0n c4ndy ... namaste ... twa ...
⚡✌️🤟⚠️💂⚡ Rock On TW Army!
Excellent reaction
Metallica told them to keep the lyrics but turn the song upside down and inside out. It's on the Blacklist Anniversary album.
This is the best concise summary I think I've read!
Will do!
@@RockCandy-ix3nn It’s the video where Lzzy Hale discovered them BTW.
That was a treat to see live.
the 2023 Guadalajara concert also had the 10-piece string section didn't it? 😜
@@WaldoKitty I was at Monterrey and CDMX so can speak first hand to those.
I like the version from the Whiskey, too.
Yes, that one's great, too. He was talking about seeing things in the Warning Cave so that's why I mentioned it. They're both great. @@rexwave4624
"Seeing them live is like watching fish swim or birds fly, it is what they were born to do and it is effortless to them." Perfectly put.
🌟🌟🌟
They just have great instincts for song construction. There are many great musicians out there, but only a handful can get together and create magic.
I’m sure everyone has answered your questions, just wanted to thank you for this reaction, really enjoyed it! I can’t wait for the next one!!!😊⚡️
I did indeed! Thanks.
Well said!
Great rendition. Nice reaction
Thank you!!
😊
Anticipating The Warning to officially release their Sandman with violin viola cello iteration
Damn girls!! I'm an old Metallica fan...My eyes filled uncontrollably with tears while shivers crawled down my spine!!!!!! These girls have a pure talent in writing and arranging songs! What a masterpiece!
That was such a haunting version of it! Now, I like both! Thanks for watching!
The Warning and Alessia Cara's version is on the Metallica Blacklist album.

El talento de The Warning para el rock lo mostraron desde niñas como el cover de Enter Sandman ,hoy son el mejor trio de rock del 2023
Gobsmacked! You couldn't have said it better!
I have added several links for you to look at below:
First, Dany talks about what happened and she is responding in English and Spanish. If you watch the first 10 minutes, you will get the idea. She said they had the song redone and recorded in less than a week, her words. They were worried about changing such an iconic song, and I will let Dany say that in the link below.

It's a good list and comment. Thank you!

Interesting take.
Metallica did Turn the Page by Bob Seager and “Thin Lizzy’s” Whiskey in the Jar.
No esta mal viejito no?... 😉
Not bad....not bad at all. lol
