I'm surprised you grinded 2 Eevee to max friendship instead of just loading up a new game of Pokemon Colosseum to immediately get both Espeon and Umbreon as starters.
I was thinking about doing that but decided that I'd only use side games if there's no way at all to get it in a mainline game (I love colosseum but unfortunately it's considered a side game)

Though I'm sure ORAS will come up for some later generation stuff. I assume you'll have to use ORAS for a Victini since you can't even start Gen 5's games until you've got a Victini somewhere and the only games it's in that you will have access to is ORAS. 20th Anniversary code from GAME which you totally saved a spare code for, knowing you would do this challenge, and definitely have access to 3DS online functionality.

You could, I kid you not, bring a Level 70 Beautifly to that battle and have it do comparable amounts of damage (albeit, Beautifly doesn't have a 100 bp Flying-type signature move, which is one thing Lugia has over it).

Wow i never knew Pokémon gold and silver actually spanned both regions!! As a kid my copy had a saving issue so i could only play as far as i could get in one day. I think i beat the elite 4 in joto and never knew the game continued after that.
elite 4 in one day as a kid is crazy, you must have optimised your route over all those attempts. and I love that you weren't put off by the fact you couldn't save anything aha

I don't understand why there needed to be a "sacrificed starter" in this run, since you could just trade it into your active game with a random gen 1 Pokémon, train it with much higher level pokémon and then actually start the second game with the last starter ? (for gen 1, it was not possible since you can't catch anything before fully evolving all starters (althoug, without the Mew bait and switch, Squirle could have been fully evolved on Red))

Usually, you're limited to current or previous gens due to starter choices, but Pokemon Arceus Legends is usable since you have Cyndaquil unlocked.
Unfortunately you have to catch several Gen 4 tutorial Pokémon early before the game really gets going

that’s a *very* good point. Victini is gonna be tricky because it comes before the starters in the dex in the only game it’s obtainable in.
I looked it up and it seems like it may be possible to spoof past events in ORAS? That’s the only way I can think of.
