Great video Keith! Nice upgrades as always! You really made it your own! Sure there are plenty of people out there that will find this video helpful. Hey I thought you want on Facebook?😉! LOL! Great letting the community know where they can contact people for these great aftermarket parts
Hi Keith, thanks for all the videos on the Rock Rey upgrades. I am starting with the steering upgrades on mine. unfortunately Servo mount and and Bell crank Servo saver set are all on back order for at least a month or so. Could you do one more video or put a list up somewhere with all your final upgrades and thoughts. I did just ordered parts from jec racing. thanks for the hook up there. I also told him how I found him through your TH-cam channel. Thanks Again!
Jeff A That's a shame those parts aren't more readily available. You are gonna love the JEC links! Here is a list of my parts. Losi steering rack. Losi servo mount. PowerHD 23kg servo. Losi upper shock mnt. Losi link mounts. JEC lower link. Incision upper link. Proline shocks. RC4wd bogger tires. Tbone bumper. Tbone skid. Xerun sct pro esc. Hobbystar 2500kv motor. Wraith wheels from china Crawler innovation foams I think that's it👍🏼
I truthfully can not figure out how people break this truck. I have smashed and bashed this thing way harder than I wanted to (it’s all stock) and nothing broke yet. A pin backed out of control arm but I just moved it back. I can see that causing a problem. But all these other breaks, you guys have no mechanical sympathy. I mean damn I hit a mountain bike jump at speed and hit a tree mid air and still didn’t break it. It hit hard too. Those squishy tires really do protect the truck like crazy.
Thanks for the awesome videos on three Rock Rey. I just got a Rock Rey and looking to make some upgrades. I am starting with the servo and the steering setup. Can you say how much you payed for those lower links? Thanks again👍👍
Hey Keith. After locking the center and rear diffs what wait oil did u end up using all around. I was waiting on jec to finish his locked still before I am done with my build. thanks again for your help.
The bottom pivot balls fit fine on mine. But I used this up top. www.ebay.com/p/Powerstroke-Universal-Short-Course-Shock-Mount-Kit-Pro-Line-Racing-PRO6063-05-/1400500387?&hash=item5d67e9ecc1:g:ei0AAOSwaB5Xu3Pd&_trkparms=pageci%3Ae1ee0954-7b90-11e7-9bfc-74dbd1803fe3%7Cparentrq%3Abd9d3eca15d0ab644cf27a6dffffcb72%7Ciid%3A1&trdt=0&rdtsrc=vi&iid=401175342273
Hi Keith, I have another question for you. if you had to replace your rear driveshaft what would you get? I here people are putting a MIP on their's, but I don't see one that says it fits a Rock Ray. your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Again
Hi. Amazing build here. Especially with limited parts on such a new release. Where did you get the front aluminum turnbuckles, rear upper links, drive shaft, rear upper shock mounts?
wade stewart Here is the link to the rear upper links m.ebay.com/itm/Vanquish-Inicsion-Rear-Upper-Suspension-Link-Losi-Baja-Rey-Rock-Rey-IRC00160/382051192076?epid=2254933716&hash=item58f4068d0c:g:Qi8AAOSwJ4hY-bLG
KReGaDeTH ive owned two rock Rey’s. The one in this video is the RTR body with some added decals. But in my later videos I painted my own body. th-cam.com/video/aAFwvj6kHO8/w-d-xo.html
Bulletproof RC thanks for responding. It seems the slash rears on my yeti cause so much droop so that it puts my cvd's at their maximum angle, and because of this, the steering binds a little at full droop. Have you noticed this on your yeti at all?
I know you dont have the baja rey no more but I'm sure the bottom skid would fit but how do you think the front bumper would fit ove the one thats on it?
Nick brookes This bumper would fit the mounting holes but not sure how it would line up with the Baja Rey body. Tbone makes a bumper specifically for the Baja Rey friend.
Bulletproof RC no worries. and I got that aluminum brace in today. its really strong tried to bend it in my hands and I can't. used e600 glue and zip ties to mount. gonna cut the ties in a day or so to let it dry. I highly recommend it.
Wesley Dean Here is a link to Losi’s part that I found by googling the manual for the kit Verision. The kit version comes with the links. I can’t remember what links I used on my RTR. Been a few years. rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F193061991715 www.horizonhobby.com/pdf/LOS03016-Manual-MULTI.pdf
I have the same ESC and Radio on my Rock Rey and am still having some cogging issues at take off from a dead stop. Did you wire in a BEC? Also did you program your ESC or leave it as is out of box?
wade stewart Yes, I’m running a Hobby Wing external bec. But a bec is used to supply consistent power to the servo. It does do anything to eliminate cogging.
hey bulletproof, what do ya think about horizon deciding to enforce their new no coupon policy? I personally am extremely upset. The prices we pay are already ridiculous in most cases and half the fun of this hobby for me anyway is getting the best possible deal I can.
yup, All the vaterra stuff Losi well everything that horizon owns. I'm just glad I purchased my Rock rey before they did this but still it does take some fun out of it for me. I imagine it will be soon RC4WD and others will probably follow suit.
Hey Keith, saw what looked like your rock rey on eBay for a few mins and then it was gone. Did u sell it? Also, I just picked up my rock rey and I wanted to purchase those jec trailing arms but dont want to create a facebook profile. Do they have a website or email contact that u know of other than through FB? Thanks man! Keep up the great work!!
greg maciel You can txt JEC at (508) 736-0783. Yes, I did part with my Rock Rey. It's a great rig but I needed to fund another build. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I did mine.
Hey mate! Nice. Coll work and updates! JCE is a supersweet tip! I have to order a pair! Let me know; wich Proline Shocks do you use? Length front and rear? Maybe a link? Thanks a lot and greetings from switzerland.
MrRosinenpicker It's proline slash rear shocks up front. And proline xt's in the rear. The part numbers are shown in this video. Thx 4 watching friend!
caspar jenk Xr8 pro is a great esc! But the xr8 is $115. The sct pro was $75. Xr8 pro is overkill for running 3s on 2500kv in my opinion. The sct pro can do up to 4s with a 3000kv in an 8th scale Buggy! More than adequate.
liking the makita body lay out
awsome videos man! my rock rey comes in the mail tomorrow thanks to affirm! 👌
rickcarroll90
That's awesome bro! It takes a little tuning out of the box to get the handling dialed in, but this is a super durable rig!
That's great. Will looking forward to him release that to public.
HI Keith. great info like always. finally got a rock rey and in process to get the jec arms. those are nice. thanks.
Kevin Hill
Great news friend! Let JEC know I sent you👍🏼 u are gonna love his products
Great upgrades and video.

Thank you once again friend for your support!

Thx for watching friend!
Hi Keith could you recommend a motor and esc for rock rey kit for bashing
I really want to see this beast jumping, crawling, and racing.
Do you have any U4RC race footage ?
Hi Keith, thanks for all the videos on the Rock Rey upgrades. I am starting with the steering upgrades on mine. unfortunately Servo mount and and Bell crank Servo saver set are all on back order for at least a month or so. KReGaDeTH yep it’s a really tough rig! A lot of upgrades are to stabilize and help with the handling. But Losi did a great job
Did you have to cut the motor shaft a little bit I have the castle 3800kv w/5mm shaft need to take about 1/8” off of it
No, the Hobbystar motors 5mm shaft is short enough to fit perfectly.
The castle 3800kv does have an abnormally long shaft “that’s what she said”
Thanks. Do I need to replace top and bottom? Love the finished product.
jeremy conroy
Bottoms fit on mine.
Thanks for the awesome videos on three Rock Rey. I just got a Rock Rey and looking to make some upgrades. I am starting with the servo and the steering setup. Can you say how much you payed for those lower links? Thanks again👍👍
I had some links from an SCTE in my pit box. I used them but I had to shorten SCTE links that go in the upper A-arm location.
Hey Keith. After locking the center and rear diffs what wait oil did u end up using all around. I was waiting on jec to finish his locked still before I am done with my build. thanks again for your help.
Kevin Hill
Rear is locked from Factory. Used vaterra locker in center. Used 1million weight up front.
ahh thanks Keith. so only open diffs need oil. lol I am just use to crawlers and using gearse only on gears. thanks.
Kevin Hill
Silicone inside open diff. Grease outside the diff on ring and pinion
What adapters do I need for the proline shocks? I picked up some for the front, and cannot seem to get them to fit with the stock bushings.
The bottom pivot balls fit fine on mine. But I used this up top.

I'm gonna wait for a legit replacement myself.
I want to see this running in action

Hi. Amazing build here. Especially with limited parts on such a new release.
Where did you get the front aluminum turnbuckles, rear upper links, drive shaft, rear upper shock mounts?

Front turnbuckles are modified SCTE turnbuckles.
The other parts are from ebay
wade stewart
Here is the link to the rear upper links

Thx for the kind words! Most parts are identical to the Baja Rey. Use Baja Rey in your searches for parts.
Did you do the body yourself? I do t really like the paint on my rock rey
KReGaDeTH ive owned two rock Rey’s. The one in this video is the RTR body with some added decals. But in my later videos I painted my own body.

KReGaDeTH here is one with aluminum panels.

Do the rear slash power strokes provide more droop on the yeti than on the Rock Rey?
Douglas Robertson
Yes. The powerstroke Slash rears are longer than stock Yeti front shocks and lift the Yeti up a bit in the front.
Bulletproof RC thanks for responding. It seems the slash rears on my yeti cause so much droop so that it puts my cvd's at their maximum angle, and because of this, the steering binds a little at full droop. Have you noticed this on your yeti at all?
Douglas Robertson
Yes I did. I used some spacers from the yeti kit and shortened the shocks by 1/8".
I know you dont have the baja rey no more but I'm sure the bottom skid would fit but how do you think the front bumper would fit ove the one thats on it?
Nick brookes
This bumper would fit the mounting holes but not sure how it would line up with the Baja Rey body. Tbone makes a bumper specifically for the Baja Rey friend.
Bulletproof RC oh I disnt see it on there web site. ill look again.
Nick brookes
Well, I swear I saw a bumper for it before on their website but I'm not seeing it now.. sorry if I misspoke my friend.
Bulletproof RC no worries. and I got that aluminum brace in today. its really strong tried to bend it in my hands and I can't. used e600 glue and zip ties to mount. gonna cut the ties in a day or so to let it dry. I highly recommend it.

HI Keith. ya I let jec know u sent me. BTW what oil weight did u use in your powerstroke shocks. thanks
Kevin Hill
I used 20wt rear and 35wt up front. JEC has a new billet diff cup and locker he is working on. His stuff is awesome 👍🏼
What weight are your shocks running?
g405t
45wt in front and 30wt rear.
I have the same ESC and Radio on my Rock Rey and am still having some cogging issues at take off from a dead stop. Did you wire in a BEC? Also did you program your ESC or leave it as is out of box?
wade stewart
Are you using a sensored Motor? Shouldn’t be cogging no matter with a sensored Motor no matter the settings.
wade stewart
If a sensored Motor is cogging double check your sensor wire to make certain it is properly connected
I do see later in your video that it does look like you have small red and black wires running to your + and - terminals. Are these for a BEC?
Yes sir. Tekin Pro 4 sensored. I'll check the sensor cable connection again.
wade stewart
Yes, I’m running a Hobby Wing external bec.

I was unaware they had done that. Axial has been doing it for a while. I was wondering when others would follow suit..
