    It just looks so so good. I always feel like cleaning my Yeti after watching your videos.. I'm pretty sure it captures more dirt and debris than my dirtbike!

    Great info!!! I can't lie... I thought that was a limited body or something. The Makita stickers look great on there. Just ordered the rock rey this morning and cannot wait to get it in. New to the hobby and this is my first big purchase. I have a couple other rigs including a crawler but I want speed. Thanks for the videos.

      Rich, check out JEC Racing on FB! He makes stainless steel lower links for the RR. They are a work of art and indestructible! If you tell him who you are he'd probably send you some for free. Your popularity could help the guy sell some stuff!

      I just finished the install of that third member, the tolerances are extremely close. I used a 8MM or 5/16 socket I believe to softly tap the bearings into place. I tell ya I had one hell of a time getting the pinion out of the old housing.

      Bill Laster I use the baking method. Put some aluminum foil on a baking sheet then bake at 320degrees for about ten minutes. Then with a pair of oven gloves you can push the tire off the rim.

    I bought the rockrey when it first came out and regret it. My diff cups-1mm screws keep breaking. Now the car sits on the shelf now for over two years.

    • @krlaturn
      @krlaturn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I installed aluminum diff cups in mine and never broke another one. The plastic cup allows the screw to pull out some and then the stress breaks it. Make sure you threadlock the screws in the aluminum diff cup.

    • @SuperSmoovy
      @SuperSmoovy 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      redline6871 if you value parts availability, forget this rig. for some reason, Horizon and it's retailers have a hard time keeping parts in Stock. You'll be waiting months in between breaks and the bearings are entirely too small and break with 3S power even if you use aftermarket bearings

    • @krlaturn
      @krlaturn  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      redline6871
      It's a great vehicle! Most parts are compatible with the Baja Rey and are readily available. But as with any newly released vehicle, not all parts are available at the start. Check out my other videos. This is a very durable rc, but I have replaced many parts with aftermarket upgrades. I've taken the vehicle through some bashing and it's held strong!

    • @regularrc1798
      @regularrc1798 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bulletproof RC do you think I could use the Baja rey pinion and ring I know the gearing is different. If so I'll be switching front and rear ring and pinion to match.

    • @krlaturn
      @krlaturn  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Regular RC
      Gearing up the front and rear would cause the motor to heat up more and create more torque twist. You could gear down the pinion to 10tooth to help some though

    Have you had any issues with your stock servo horn stripping? I've heard the plastic teeth may strip out on the stock horn. How is the stock servo itself? I'm seriously considering the Rock Rey.
    Also, does it matter what kind of Lipo pack you use? Does the wire orientation of the battery matter?
    Thanks!

    • @bearbatteredbear5982
      @bearbatteredbear5982 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      My plastic horn was stripped out of the box. I bought a TLR for $15AUD and it's been A1 since then. Stock servo isn't very exciting but has been working fine. My RR has a lot of hours on it already. RR is a great truck and way better than a stock Yeti...there really isn't any comparison between the two trucks stock (the Yeti would just implode without 50% of its cost in custom parts to hold it together). The RR also goes great on 2S and is really fast on 3S. You really don't need 3S for rock bouncing.

    • @fmscott2
      @fmscott2 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BearBattered Bear What is the servo horn part number? Is it the TLR1555?

    • @bearbatteredbear5982
      @bearbatteredbear5982 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I believe it's that horn (23T). It didn't just slide straight on so I had to gently but progressively tighten it down (so I'd make sure you line up the steering right as I'm not sure it'll want to come off easily). Mine has been rock solid since then. Jumping and crashes etc without a problem (I used some plastic horns I had lying around 'til I got the TLR horn and was going through a horn per battery).

    • @krlaturn
      @krlaturn  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mac Scott
      I upgraded the servo horn to aluminum pretty quickly.
      And yes the battery wired need to exit the battery from the end for best fittment.

    • @krlaturn

    I have the lower and upper aluminum armed on my baja rey. be careful those plastic rod ends break easy and you have to call horizon to get more. they do not have a part number yet. also if you flip the lower arms it gives you slight more ride hight and makes it bottom out less.

    I do like mine but the worst part of owning one is parts. when this breaks, you'll regret owning it because it takes months for parts to come in and there are some parts that aren't available. too soon to call this better than anything since it breaks just like the rest and leaves you without parts for months

      By the way, I’m looking at that or an Axial rock racer. How does that do with actual crawling and articulation? I can only find videos of people going balls out with the Rock Rey. I already have an RC that I have to repair each time I take it out, I don’t want another. Was hoping that crawling would not put as much abuse on a RC as the name suggests but I also want to hit some flats with a little speed that a full blown crawler can’t do.
