JPRC hey man love your videos too. How's the track in Berkeley doing New Bedford radio control Club. Anyways which one do you think is better. For racing down at Jeremy's track.
I know this is an old video, but it's still very important and I appreciate that you went to the trouble of making and posting it. It was a ton of help for me. Thank you.
Just bought the axial yeti, I know it’s discontinued but that’s why I bought it when I saw one available, so many parts still available, I have my basket full of most the parts that will make it a better racer, I’m going to try some closed cell foams in the stock tires and see how much it changes their performance. Worst case, I’ll have to buy new tires
I wish I would have seen your video before I bought my Baja ray. You are very right it is a good vehicle but any upgraded parts are hard find in they are expensive. When you have to pay a $100 for a new body that's a little ridiculous
i was really interested in the yeti then saw reviews of the RR and was pretty sure RR is a good buy but now after this video i want the yeti again lol. great video btw

I just bought these 2 and wished I bought 2 rock Rey’s, the yeti had a king pin laying in the box when I’d opened it, the rock Rey would be twice as fast, much larger and a far better out of the box rtr in my opinion. In saying this I have nothing against Axial I have the yeti XL and love it.
A fair comparison. I don't recall the 2-speed option of the Yeti being mentioned, but it was the versatility of the Yeti that sold me on it over the 'Rey platform. As a fan of Losi products myself, I would take the SCBE over the Rock Rey, for performance and parts availability.
Awesome video, very detailed and interesting. Thank you so much. I've been doing rc for several years but I've transioned from one to the other. I enjoy this hobby, it can be an expensive one but, it is what it is. Thx again, great job IMHO👍
that was a Great Video!! Lots of Useful Info! Thanks for All the Work You put into this!!! my cousin just got the Yeti...it is Awesome!! i think i want the Rock -Rey, to have something different.

The rock Rey too me had more electrical issues then I liked strait out of the box the motor burnt up with in the first ten minutes took about a month too get it replaced under warranty the mesh was way too tight out of the box is the only thing I saw that caused it but who knows I know I had too reset it when I put the new motor in it an it was fine afterwards. The yeti I haven’t had any issues with it other then the front diff wore out do too a screw that was too long an was rubbing the ring gear in the front diff went through the top of the housing .
great info rich, but as an axial addict, i'm a little biased. i've got an empty shelf with yeti written all over it. problem is i just bought a bomber cage for a piece build, and i haven't even finished the scx10ii yet. oh yeah, i just broke my wraith too and i'm waiting on parts.
I got my yeti two years ago and love it have hardly had to buy anything for it key word had and I just bought this truck but now knowing I can get hood parts from the extera and the wraith I knew but they discontinued parts for the yeti and I’m stocked I can get parts now
Rich, I just picked up a Rock Rey, went off your comment about out-of-the-box worthiness over the Yeti. Anyway, I see at minute 5:22 that your battery plug is a XT60, HOW?
Can I run either of these on NiMH battery? Also I am new to the hobby. I won’t be hurling the thing off cliffs. I don’t want anything that needs too many upgrades out of the box. I am alright with replacing servo horns and small things. Any advice? Leaning toward the rock Rey.

Excellent review. I am trying to figure out between the summit and the losi rock rey. I know that was not the subject of the video. I am new getting into the hobby and will mostly trail/crawl it. Maybe some small jumps a local track. No stunt jumps at the skatepark or anything like that.
The summit has a lot more moving parts, like lockable diffs, etc. the Rock Rey def looks more scale with a solid rear axle vs the Summits all independent suspension.
Crystal Bennett I just did a quick google and the major aftermarket brands all have upgrades for the rock rey. SSD, Vanquish and Hot Racing all had parts and between the 3 I'd say it would be fully upgraded.
exo terra? wow that looks awesome! i want one! i'm gonna look that up! (wait for it...) aw crap! that was me in the winter of 14. i ended up getting one, but not so sure if i'm still happy about it.
Yeah, probably one of the worst kits from Axial - I paid $330 for a plastic kit....later reduced to $200 and now they're a cult item selling for almost double in some cases!
The RCNetwork i broke the front diff case a couple years ago, then shot the wad on a bunch of parts to upgrade it. i started to do so, but got distracted by a bunch of other builds. it's on the shelf half done. it's just not that fun to work on.
Great video Rich. Deciding between the Rock Rey or the axial Bomber kit, still can't decide lol. As far as electronics (motors, servos, esc) what are some of the less expensive brands you trust? Hobbywing, Turnigy, Power HD, Reedy etc...

You stated the Proline shocks for the Rock Rey are not ideal, are they better than the stock, if the Prolines are not ideal is there a better solution?
Ideal meaning the exact size. The fronts are almost as long as the stock and the rears are longer than stock. otherwise, they're a great upgrade from stock

How did you get an mip x duty drive shaft to work on the losi rock Rey. It would be awesome to be able to have a driveshaft that last more than 3 to 5 battery pack
Brad Rad I explained it in a previous video on just the Rock Rey - you’ll have to dremel the end of one of the MIP outputs and then come up with a different sized pin screw.
