Antique & Vintage Fest Makes Shopping & Selling A Blast!

- Wow! What an amazing turnout of energized collectors, resellers, TH-cam viewers and content creators...the Springfield, Ohio Antique Extravaganza is living up to its name!
This is a fun, longer look at this major national antique vintage event, starting with a swath of our friends who visited on the day that was my busiest ever at a Midwest show! People from all over the TH-cam vintage community showed up early, viewers and creators alike, and I had such fun having them converge on my tent...I tried to shop with them in mind, and most leave the booth happy (you'll see more about their purchases on their channels, listed below!)
The next day, I sneak off to shop, and some of what we see is really mind-blowing! Outsider art and Egyptian antiquities are just a few of the really unusual finds in a nearby booth. A Gibson Girl ribbon cabinet, tables of Rookwood and Roseville Pottery, a row of oil lanterns and a stack of cheap road signs all add to the collage of vintage at this massive show.
Across the aisle from me, a TH-cam viewer is set up and doing her first ever real world show! So much fun to share stories, give each other tips and hints, and a few bargain deals to boot...it's just so tremendous to see the real world of antiques & vintage and the online world come together.
We end the day at Copper Top Farmhouse (now an Air BnB), thanks to the generosity of Jocelyn @CrazyLampLady and the owners of @HeartofOhioAntiques ! A look through this antique-appointed home, and you might be making Springfield, Ohio your destination for the next Antique Extravaganza in May 2024.

I just started selling vintage at the Sacramento vintage faire. I enjoy it very much. I enjoy the interaction with the people. I sold for years in the 80's and 90's at all the flea markets until my kids came along.
Now my children are adults so now I am doing what I love again.
That is so cool! It's fun, this is a thing you can get back into when it suits you! The thing is, a lot of what you saw back then at the fleas is what is hot vintage now
Seeing that hat reminds me of the time in the mid sixties when I learned to make hats like that. My mom would pick out the shape and the decorations she wanted and I would make her a new hat for very little money. Great memories

I adore Parsley Pottery out of Cincinnati, Ohio!
I looked it up and I agree, it has some of the feel and glaze colors of 1930s Coors Rosebud ware but it's modern stoneware and seems of good quality

I grew up in this area and never traveled the 10 mi to the Springfield extravaganza. Fast forward and I've been selling vintage goods for 30 years. Thanks to your video, I'm going to visit the Springfield sale this year.

Good evening, George! I really liked that ribbon showcase. Well, there was a lot of the Green Drip there, but not a saucer in sight. I thought I'd never find those things. There were some crucifixes, on the table with the alligator item, that caught my eye. I have a tendency to really like those and have quite a collection of them. The solid white ironstone is the one that appeals to me most. I like the simplicity of it, and it is quite strong. Loved the shipwreck items! I would've gone absolutely bonkers over the Egyptian pieces! The travel shaving stand really interested me. I've not seen one of those before that one. Those Victorian candleholders were really nice. I used to have a 3-D Chesterfield Kings thermometer...sold it when I moved here. That clock shelf, in the air B&B, was definitely my taste. Liked that one a lot! Those small churns would be the perfect size I'd be interested in having. That looked to really be a fun show! Thanks for the tour!
Not one saucer! I was disappointed, but at least I saw your color. I do like crucifixes too, I had more collectors out west for them. The solid white ironstone is great when it has some design, it didn't necessarily need embellishment. The shipwreck finds were so neat to see! I think the travel stand might be from Europe, I've seen exactly two in the US (one at an estate we held and one in a shop). I could live with those candleholders, I thought they were noteworthy in design. It is such a great show, thanks for coming along!

@@TheAntiqueNomad Of course antiquities can be a nightmare in regards to legality and authenticity. Especially in regard to shabtis, which have been reproduced since the early 20th century. Shabties had an interesting function in Egyptian funerary beliefs because they served as proxy servants for the deceased in the underworld. If I remember correctly, they were divided into groups with overseer shabties for each group of 10. Royal burials could possess several hundred which often varied in size and elaboratness. They were often inscribed with the name of the deceased and a prayer that would be invoked if Osiris, the Lord of the dead, required the dead person to toil in the grain fields of the underworld.

Great video for all of us unable to go to the Extravaganza … I have the floor display ribbon cabinet … it was purchased in upstate NY in the late 1970’s by my father for his Pennsylvania antique shop as NFS … I’ve owned this spectacular piece for 5 years … I’ve never seen another floor model … thank you again for all your information and passion for vintage … great meeting you at Columbia ( actually 1 year ago today )

Found a Hudson's Bay blanket on Saturday in the original box. It was in the camel colors, but I've never seen a box before. Pointed another shopper at it, I'm allergic to wool, and it wasn't there long. 20:28 Israeli/Jewish for certain. 45:25 Those coctail sets sell like hotcakes here, although I'm not sure of the cars. 48:55 Turtle Baby! Google it. IIRC it's 19th century American. Copies for sale on Wayfair, at Michaels etc. The originals are crazy money.
