8 years ago this ford wt truck in a v8 was under $26k. Out the door, I know I shopped them then. I walked away from a 2 door Silverado wt w v8 and tow package at $26k out the door, and a Ford in the same trim was a few hundred less. I want to see that truck tricked out to the max! It would definitely be a good project truck for anyone wanting to get into owning a truck but can't afford the higher end packages.
Base 2004 truck 20 yrs ago was $22k, which is $36k adjusted for inflation. So same price. If you made $25/hr in 2004, you need to make $40/hr to be even. People esrning $80k per year can afford this truck assuming their other expenses are not too crazy.
I live in Ontario, Canada, and I just checked out the Ford website for the cheapest F-150 2WD long box. The MSRP starts at $49,935, and with the 13% Trudeau tax, the total price comes to $53,935. This includes a Ford Employee Pricing Adjustment of -$2,970 and sales tax of $6,205. For financing, the estimated monthly payment is $946 at a 1.99% APR over a 60-month term with $0 down payment. It's surprising how much these prices add up, even for the base model!
I have this exact truck for work. Now mine is a 2021 with 55,000 miles on it now but it’s exactly the same except for the instrument cluster mine is not digital. It’s been a great truck and sport mode will get after it.

I’ll just keep driving my old Chevy. I could have purchased a Ford for a little less then the Chevy back then, and had a 8’ bed, but I was afraid of aluminum body, they were still having some problems when I was researching them, so purchased a Chevy. You could get a 4 door Ford 150 wt with an 8’ bed in a 1500 series pu.
You do actually get LED day running lights (those bright orange lines between the headlight elements) and you also get LED headlights and LED backup lights. I believe you also get auto high beams. Quite a bit of content for a base truck, but the price is still way too high.
Very nice review. Makes me wish I had my '88 F-150 I paid $9,100. It was a short wheelbase, fleet model in manual transmission. It did have AC since I live in Texas, but only an AM radio. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I live right over the hill from moon! I didn't expect to see a local place in a TH-cam video that came across my fyp lol. but yeah, prices are absolutely insane
I see these absolutely everywhere down here in South Florida. Probably because it's the cheapest one to get. And since we don't have to worry about snow, most are 2WD and can be had for the $36K price you're mentioning. I do like the new LED headlights with the parking lights as the DRLs. It looks simpler in a good way. And some have compared it to the older F-150s from the early-mid 80s. I actually don't mind basic work trucks. It's all the truck you need. It has just enough safety and convenience features to keep buyers happy. The big Sync 4 touchscreen and fully digital gauge cluster are a surprise. And with the extra money you'll save on the most basic trim, you can use that for a lot of modifications to give it a personal touch.
For the money and for it being the base XL, this F-150 is actually nicely equipped. Although I would prefer the tried and true 5.0 Coyote V8. I remember when even top trim pickup trucks back in the day there were features that were extra cost options that are now standard on base models. XL used to be Ford’s mid-level trim, btw. Giant fuel gauge? That was common on the Chevy trucks back in the day……Anyway tachometer was an extra cost option across the board. Even full instrumentation without tachometer was extra cost (except for the top trims). Air conditioning was an extra cost option across the board. Even AM/FM stereos were extra cost options across the board. Insulated interior? Unless you don’t mind the extra noise, you had to opt for at least a mid-level trim. Even cloth seats were an extra cost option……..I remember the Chevy C/K Silverado top trim had vinyl bench seat standard. You wanted cloth? You had to pay extra for the Chevy C/K. Ford actually made cloth seating standard on the XL and top of the line XLT trims back in the 1980’s. All in all, this F-150 is a nice truck.
@@Tylnorton I’m with you. I watched the prices just go through the roof these last few years. Like so much else, our money buys a whole lot less than pre-Covid. During Covid dealers were robbing people, then the manufacturers got in on the action.

At a Ford dealership. This truck will bottom out in about five years… They are not worth what they are charging, all brands. Buy a well cared for used truck, lot more value and I argue better reliability as well.
Almost $40,00 for a bunch of plastic, what a ripoff. I wonder what it cost to build this truck and how much profit their really making. It looks like it couldn't cost more then $15,000 to make this with all the plastic that's in it. This truck shouldn't cost more then $25,000.
Since 2021 on the 5.0, they have been using an oil pump belt and possibly on other motors in these. My 13 f150 work truck supercab 8" box tow package was 29k out the door new. It has the 5L, bed sprayed liner, 3.73 rear end powerwindows/locks. All you ever need in a work truck. Missed these reviews Mike! Love reviews of the base model vehicles, and a regular cab too? Yes please! (Miss a manual transmission :/ ) The price on these are INSANE though! Doesn’t seem like all too long ago the price of this one would have bought a top of the line truck And the top of the line trucks now...I would have to sell a kidney, lung, eye, and probably 3,500 times at the blood bank, and that’s just the down payment 🤣 Pretty soon will have to take out a mortgage just to buy a new truck lol
36000 adjusted to inflation is about 18000 in 1997. 1997 standard cab trucks MSRP costing from 14000 from GM, 15000 for Dodge and 16000 for Ford. Dealer incentives and discount could go as low as $12000. The old days Ford GM and Chrysler slay each other for buyers, GM tend to stuffed with a lot of features and cost less than Ford or Dodge.
Take away the large digital cluster for a little info screen in a regular cluster plus a smaller infotainment screen as no one watching TV on it and lane keep as a true option which we can refuse.. knock 4000 off the price would make it really competitive.. Ford would sell ton more
The actual least expensive is a 2wd RCSB which only comes with the coyote V8 and 3.73 electronic locker standard. It’s $10 less than the RCLB with the 2.7 and zero options.
I wish they had a possibility to take options off. Like the giant touch screen and cameras etc. No push button and no auto on off is awesome. But still.
With my 2022 with the 5.0 v8 4x4, I pull off 19mpg in the city and 24mpg on the high way. I’d be curious if X Plan pricing makes much difference with this truck as you might save a few hundred. I couldn’t imagine there being much markup from invoice.

You should make it a series with Silverado, Sierra, Tundra, Titan, and Ram.
Autovlog Great Review I think it's awesome that there's still F150s for under 40k for people that don't have alot of money and I can't wait to see what you'll review next
They can keep it on the lot I will keep mine running at any cost
Surely it would be cheaper with a short bed and 2wd?
So nobody is going to mention that it doesn't have a 50 cent piece of GLASS in the driver's mirror? Are you serious Ford?!! NOT EVEN A DRIVER'S SIDE VANITY MIRROR is absolutely the highlight of this insane video
Love you as a YT host. I feel for you and your personal situation. Idk how it pertains to your cash flow/ revenue which is obviously the point, but I became a fan because of the builds. Trucks for sure, thats my specific automotive interest, BUT I adore the incremental and sometimes small upgrades. A whole damn video about the joy you get from a de-badging and taillights upgrade. Realistic and achieveable for the common folk.
30 years ago a truck like that would’ve cost $18k
8 years ago this ford wt truck in a v8 was under $26k. Out the door, I know I shopped them then. I walked away from a 2 door Silverado wt w v8 and tow package at $26k out the door, and a Ford in the same trim was a few hundred less. I ended up with 4 door Silverado v8 wt for $33,500 out the door. Prices are still crazy high right now compared to just 8 years ago.
I want to see that truck tricked out to the max! It would definitely be a good project truck for anyone wanting to get into owning a truck but can't afford the higher end packages.
Good review.... lots of details.... very informative.... Mike did his homework.. no doubt !!
Sooo a sub 40 k truck that you have to pay 45k for , that's not miss leading at all
I’d like to see a base regular cab build on your channel. Little different than your normal
Base 2004 truck 20 yrs ago was $22k, which is $36k adjusted for inflation. So same price. If you made $25/hr in 2004, you need to make $40/hr to be even. People esrning $80k per year can afford this truck assuming their other expenses are not too crazy.
Great video, Mike.
Shocking how expensive the “base” model is…at least it has some decent standard features…could be worse I guess!
I remember my dad buying his 2001 F150 XLT 5 speed for 21K. 😢
I bought a crew cab fully loaded xlt with all the extras like 36gallon tank 2.7l turbo in 2015 for 36k... Like 42-44k out the door including delivery.
As Marshall Lucky said in the movie Used Cars "These prices are too f---ing high!".
Very good content, everyone else usually review top model but I like how you review the base model.
Hopefully see you review more base model brands as that could benefit more people who are in the lower budget market.
Wow that interior really surprised me, looks amazing for a base car!
Id rather buy something used
7:21 not full power but dual USB C's
Unbelievable…… in 2018 my F-150 XLT FX4, 5.0, crew cab, 302a luxury package, sticker was $54k and walked out at just under $36k and now this farm truck costs the same a few years later???FJB
That is ridiculous for 36,000 that should be 24,000 if that
LOVE Ford and all they offer for the price!!
There is a ‘24 XL 4x4 with the 5.0L with a few extras, 360 cameras, lane departure, lane keep, emergency braking, etc for $43K and that includes destination…
I’ve seriously considered it but I love my Gladiator!!
Keep up the incredible work Mike🤙
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I LOVE IT!!!! THE PERFECT WORK TRUCK AND DAILY DRIVER!!!
My Subaru Impreza has symmetrical AWD, and it's a PZEV
Your Subi will probably be on the road going strong longer after the F-150 is rotted out and Found On the Road Dead.
I got a 97 f150 dual cabby love it. They should bring those trucks back. 8ft bed too.
The most expensive “normal f150” is going to be the limited f150
@autovlog If they are sitting on the lot for more than 90 days you can negotiate the price to maybe invoice price if the dealership has the ability to do that so all of you thinking that that’s the final price don’t think that do your homework before shopping for a new car or truck! Just a reminder for all of you thinking that’s the final pricing. Learn how to negotiate the pricing. Great content keep up the great work!💯
Around 10 years ago you could buy a limited trim ford edge for that sticker price! Its insane how prices have gotten up
I’d rather have this than a Ford Edge no matter the trim lol… just saying
8 years ago I purchased a 2016 Silverado 1500 wt 4 door 6.5” bed with trailer package w v8 out the door for $33,500. I walked away from a 2 door Chevy wt with 8’ bed and trailer package and v8 $26k out the door. I’d like to buy a new Ford wt with same configuration. But prices are way up from 8 yrs ago. I’ll just keep driving my old Chevy. I could have purchased a Ford for a little less then the Chevy back then, and had a 8’ bed, but I was afraid of aluminum body, they were still having some problems when I was researching them, so purchased a Chevy. You could get a 4 door Ford 150 wt with an 8’ bed in a 1500 series pu.
just stumbled on your channel, noticed you driving near bon meade, baker field, flaugherty run rd.. definitely subscribing to you, neighbor 🤘🏻
What a rip off. This truck shouldn't be anymore than $20,000.
That looks pretty nice! What more do you want from a truck? I like the rudimentary front end, it's not a driving discoball like the luxury versions.
Ahhh yes a trim level for rental fleets and city, county and state government fleets‼️
I bought a crew cab 2023 F150 STX 4x4 w/5.0 V8 this year for $9,000 off sticker and 1.9% for 72mos. Just a tick over $46K out the door.
It's nuts dude. At least you got a fair price.
@@Tylnorton I’m with you. I watched the prices just go through the roof these last few years. Like so much else, our money buys a whole lot less than pre-Covid. During Covid dealers were robbing people, then the manufacturers got in on the action.
I've had good experiences with cloth seats. They last and are easy to clean. I actually prefer cloth.
How much should it be and how will you make it that much, customers?
You could get a super duty F250 base spec crew cab for 44k in 2018
My parents bought a brand new 2010 F-150 Lariat 4x4 V8. Out the door it was like $35,000.
Last year I bought a 2012 F-250 Lariat crew cab 4x4 gas with 101,000 miles for $23,000 out the door. At a Ford dealership.
This truck will bottom out in about five years…
They are not worth what they are charging, all brands.
Buy a well cared for used truck, lot more value and I argue better reliability as well.
💯
This truck in 2wd is $29k.
Most buyers are not aware of this and it's definitely something you need to know if you're planning long term. I would as I almost picked up a short bed 4x4 with the coyote. Just too expensive imo. I'll just keep my 13 Tacoma.
Someone once told me that the lower bumper lights are called 'Runner Lights'. (don't know how true that is though)
Hey Mike I always liked 2 doors but how does that type of cab work for people over 6 feet? I’m 6 foot 3 and wonder how far that seat goes back
At 6'4", it sucks ya can't lay back but we giants fit
@@patinsley ah so not comfy I assume for a road trip right?
Great review Mike!
I’ll find a used or certified used before I get a new vehicle and skip the massive depreciation when I drive it off the lot!
American flag is a nice touch my ass. It's a misleading symbol for assembled in America with foreign parts. 😂
Boycott all midsize, 1/2 Ton, 3/4 Ton, and 1 Ton trucks and SUVs from Ford, GM, Ram, and Toyota for next 2 years.
They will come begging for us to buy again with 20k and 30k dollar trucks again.
My 13 f150 work truck supercab 8" box tow package was 29k out the door new. It has the 5L, bed sprayed liner, 3.73 rear end powerwindows/locks. All you ever need in a work truck.
The new prices are preposterous and absolutely disrespectful for the men that made them the icon that they are. Ford should be ashamed.
Missed these reviews Mike!
Love reviews of the base model vehicles, and a regular cab too? Yes please!
(Miss a manual transmission :/ )
The price on these are INSANE though!
Doesn’t seem like all too long ago the price of this one would have bought a top of the line truck
And the top of the line trucks now...I would have to sell a kidney, lung, eye, and probably 3,500 times at the blood bank, and that’s just the down payment 🤣
Pretty soon will have to take out a mortgage just to buy a new truck lol
36000 adjusted to inflation is about 18000 in 1997. 1997 standard cab trucks MSRP costing from 14000 from GM, 15000 for Dodge and 16000 for Ford. Dealer incentives and discount could go as low as $12000. The old days Ford GM and Chrysler slay each other for buyers, GM tend to stuffed with a lot of features and cost less than Ford or Dodge.
I want to know about 3.0 power stroke diesel engine, Is it reliable? I am deciding to buy a new ranger V6 soon.
This is why the Fed needs to raise interest rates not lower them. It’s the only way to break these damn prices.
But still.
The park lights is technically the daytime running light
With my 2022 with the 5.0 v8 4x4, I pull off 19mpg in the city and 24mpg on the high way. I’d be curious if X Plan pricing makes much difference with this truck as you might save a few hundred. I couldn’t imagine there being much markup from invoice.
2019 i looked at buying a new f150 3.3L 4wd for a tick over $20k sadly i decided to wait a year and you know what happened
Poor man In a rich man’s truck right there. You get one of those, you just flexing bro.
full power plug? where
How much is Ford paying you to say that is a good price?
i wonder if besides the locker there is brake based AWD like Ram has ... The 4x4 Ram Classic stubby on TFL was decent value and it pulled out of rollers on single front wheel,
