In the midst of the recent -7ºF blizzard that swept through Bend, I encountered a resilient family living in a small trailer on public lands. Meet Billy (Dad), Christa (Mom), Juniper (3), Rosalie (2), and Jasper (1). They are facing the harsh winter elements with incredible strength, but they need our community's support.
Over the past few days, I've been doing my best to assist them by providing propane, food, clothes, a tow, rides to town, and firewood essential for survival in the challenging Central Oregon winter. However, there's a critical need that we must address - transportation.
The family's mini-van has transmission failure, leaving them stranded at their campsite 2 miles from town. The lack of reliable transportation poses a significant obstacle to their ability to care for themselves and their children.
Thank you for your compassion and support. We raised $1800 in 2 days to provide urgent resources to this family with 3 toddlers. We got them a used mini van, got it an oil change, new air filter, registered for 2 years, insurance, gas, and the ability to now get their family to and from town!

Sometimes it's as easy as looking around your neighborhood for seniors in need, or asking your children if they know any other children in their school who look like they could use some love and kindness. I live on the edge of homelessness because I am in an apartment that raises my rent every year. If they raise it again this year I won't have the extra money to cover it. I'm a senior in WA State and my S.S. just doesn't pay enough to help with this inflation. Blessings to all.

Josh, you are such a beautiful person. Many people could use a hand up and not a hand out. You just gave that young family a hand up. Your smile and genuine care for others could help start aa movement. Instead of people looking down on those less fortunate or who have just fallen on hard times, maybe they will now stop and see what they can do to help. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone helped their fellow man instead of ignoring the situation until it grows worse.?.?. As you stated, one person may not be able to do much, but as a community we could make a huge impact. We never know what life will bring our way. Many are close to being on the street trying to survive. My Daddy always said that we all are just a check away from being homeless. Love one another.

I know, I'm a 58 year old disabled grandma in Wilsonville who has been looking for low income housing and am going to be homeless on the 20th of February. I am terrified. I can't imagine if I had small children. Hope everything continues to improve for this family. What a blessing!

Shine a light on the resources in your community, I'm sure that they would love to to get the word out about what they do in their specific organizations. Food pantries, clothing closets,shelters. Educational materials and resources and health care services. It would certainly benefit your community.

This Community is Wonderful!!! God Bless you Josh!! Its hard to ask for help and trust ppl when you are homeless or in need and have children. The fear of losing your children because ppl don't understand you are doing the best you can is overwhelming. I'm speaking from experience. Beautiful Josh. Any of us are just a disaster from needing serious help. No person want to be homeless, or addicted, or mentally ill. It's very easy to get lost in a system that is not complete. For a person who has already learned to be hopeless, many times they are just proven correct. Bless this effort! ❤
