I think some people would be surprised to learn that "supersteels" such as M390 and S90V are actually older than S30V. S30V remains an excellent well-rounded steel and it's by no means cheap.

Still not worth what Benchmade is charging for S30V knives.

I have the S30V serrated fist production run version and I love it! Smaller than the adamas, thin, and beefy as heck! I beat mine and love it!

I had omega springs break after about a year. I bought replacement springs from amazon from an off brand maker and their stiffer and have lasted longer. They have improved lockup and action and seem more durable. Now its a standard upgrade on my benchmades. Just an option lol.

Nice looking knife, with full liners. Only type of Benchmade I’ll consider buying.

I just bought a Freek in M4 from DLT a couple weeks ago. So, yes they are still making them.

A spring in my bugout broke after 4 months of use, but guess what? I dont care! It is easily replaceable! If i can do it almost anyone can.

I actually like the way the thumb gimping is done. For me, it works well to use the back ramp for push cuts and the front ramp for pull cuts. Either direction, I can get good grip with my thumb. I don't know if I got lucky last year, but as with most knives, look around, wait for sales, use store credits, etc... I found mine for $160, which I thought was a steal.

Ive personally broken 4 Benchmade omega springs, and 2 Hogue omega springs. I just keep the springs on hand becuase they are cheaper to buy off ebay than to keep paying for shipping and being without your knife for weeks at a time. Not upset, it is what it is, if you fidget with your knives the omega springs will break. Hogue ones seem to break sooner than Benchmade ones in my experience as well.

Hogue intentionally built them thicker and stronger, to reduce this issue. The Turret had the strongest Benchmade springs until the newer Adamas came out.

I have a mini Barrage I got in 2004 or 2005 if I remember correctly. Still no issues with the knife. It was my daily carry from when I got it until the end of 2019 when I started getting back into knives.

One of the omega springs in my Benchmade Custom Bugout broke after like a week. The only thing that pissed me off is they won't just send/sell me the springs so I can fix it myself. I had to send it in and be without it for weeks.

With the exception of a very few Benchmades, I use every one of them, some hard, some not so hard. The ones I don't or lightly use are my 960 and my pre-productions that are now over 20 years old.
Doing something stupid with a Benchmade is normal. And I take full responsibility for my own stupidity.

Just picked one up in black with the non serrated edge. Haven't been able to find any others in black with plain edge so i guess i got lucky!

On the flip side, I own 12 Benchmade axis-lock knives (and a few Hogues and SOGs), some for many years, and I've never had an omega spring break. Of course, I've probably cursed myself by saying this, but springs are cheap and I can stock up, lol.

When it first came out, it didn’t excite me. I ended up getting one on the secondary about 2 years ago on the secondary for $115. It still didn’t excite me. But it is a solid knife. I kind of think of it as a beefed up Freek or an Adamas light. I think it didn’t last because there were other Benchmades that filled that need and had been around longer.

I came across this turret at my local knife shop with the satin finish and plain edge do you think it’s worth picking up a few at $190 each since they are discontinued you think they will go up in value metal complex? I also came across the benchmade loco mini for $160 satin finish plain edge s30v.

Benchmade was the Goliath in the industry for so long. I think they've gotten boring. I still love 940s, but the rest seem to be trading on the same design language (LIKE ZT)..
S30V is still an excellent steel. I'll take anything with an S in front. M390/20xv are my favorites though.
The thing most people don't consider in the value/cost of different steels is *tooling*. AFAIK, you need different tools to manufacture different steels, and that investment is probably expensive. That's part of the cost that gets passed on.

I carried mine overseas and in sand that gets everywhere. Almost a powder sand at times and this knife lasted in some pretty frickin extreme weather. When you live life in a sand box and between sweat sometimes blood you want a knife that works well. Btw it was my own blood people. I do not need to be called a murderer again here in a freaking reply to a video. It is what it is and someone has to do it.
The only issue I have ever had in real combat was a fight that could have gone either way really. I am safe to say the camel spider lost the fight. And yes if you have ever tried to stab a camel spider you know what I am talking about. Little bastards are fast.
I had a couple of other Benchmades there with me. 1 was issued the other I brought from home. Both auto's and one suffered from the fricking powder we ran around in daily.
Is it the finest knife I have ever owned? No.. But it is a very tough knife that I would be surprised if it ever failed you.

the clayless better suits my geriatric biceps

    • @CKshouta
      @CKshouta 2 ปีที่แล้ว

not comparable. Claymore is automatic, uses different locking mechanism, has CPM D2 which trades rust resistance for outstanding toughness, very lightweight and feels cheap AF.
If you want to use a knife hard go with the claymore. It's one of the more useful autos out there.
