Political, Unforgiven a great movie which swept the Oscars was not as good a cast or movie as Tombstone. Unfortunately politics play a part in all these award shows.
Nope. There are many better lines than that. First off: "I've got 2 guns one for each of ya" (and he proceeds to spin one gun one way and the other the other way). Also "IM COMIN! YOU HEAR!? IM COMIN! AND HELLS COMIN WITH ME" etc. etc. with this movie.

Such a great scene, and I think MIchael Biehn is right to be proud of this moment. The range of emotion, from confident delight, to surprise and lack of certainty, and finally crazy self assuredness in response to Holliday's challenge. Such a cool scene, such great performances.
I met Michael Biehn at AwesomeCon in 2019. He’s hands down probably the most nicest, humble and down to earth celebrity I ever met. My brothers and I met him and his wife and we had a conversation for 30minutes about working with James Cameron, Tombstone and Hill Street Blues. He even mentioned that I had beautiful teeth when I smiled. Lol My favorite performances of Biehn is Kyle Reese, Johnny Ringo, Hicks, Bly from The Art of War, and Lt. Coffey in The Abyss.
I would agree that Michael and Val really did steal the show the delivery of that lines the facial expressions absolutely masterful in their acting both could have been nominated for an Academy Award
I dont know where he is getting his history. The real Ringo was kind of nothing special and definitely did not speak Latin. That scene was so incredible though. I didn't mind the historical inaccuracies. They made a brilliant interpretation of the story. Legendary acting all around except for the river scene with Kirk. 😆 🤣
ive only watched the movie Tombstone, about 500 times. Will never be another move with all the actors in the right place at the right time, in their prime
He's underrated as an actor.Even though he has worked in more than one James Cameron movie,he is always a different character. He really creeped me out in The Abyss.
There was a mania to Johnny in the way that Michael played him that sneaks out right in that moment. He had been trying to talk his way out of a fight with Holliday, but at that moment he realizes that isn't going to be possible, so he lets that bloodthirsty part of himself loose and commits to the fight fully. It's a beautiful moment of acting. I worked at a movie theater when the film came out, and we'd step into the theater shortly before the film ended to get ready to clean it out after a show. I always went into Tombstone a bit earlier than usual just to see that scene up on the big screen.

Love that Mr. Biehn's favorite acting moment was the same as one of my favorite acting moments. I have always thought that that look of instant demonic transformation was one of the best pieces of acting ever!
The 3 main actors use their eyes in their roles 3 instances: -Kurt Russell's in the scene where he slaps around the bully. That instant B.B Thornton reaches for his shoulder holster...his eyes harden like ice. -The Latin exchange...even though Holiday is drunk his eyes never move from Ringo's gun. Like a damn snake...he's calculating it. -Finally that flash of psychopathy in Ringo's when "Alright Lunger...lets do it"
I've always felt like this was a summer popcorn type action movie made to be attractive to the summer masses of movie goers, but the elevated performances of actors like Mike Biehn, Val Kilmer, Kurt Russell, etc, combined with the script that's better than it seems on first watch, really elevated this movie into an all-time classic. Between this role and Beihn's role in Terminator, another absolute all-time classic film in its Sci-Fi genre, his legacy will live on for a long, long time after he passes. When you can watch a movie over and over, and still be entertained by it every time, it's truly a work of art, not just something put together to rake the audience for the price of a ticket.
Biehn is great in everything I've seen. I loved his work in the Abyss and Aliens, too. He is correct when he says he and Val stole the show, but even so, it doesn't detract from the outstanding performances from the others. Maybe the finest cast of any move I have ever seen. All good wishes!
He was a real badass in this role...watch his eyes, they told the story. Great talent. Thank you for your participation in this one of my favorite movies ever. 👍👍
Kilmer as Doc Holiday was literally his best role in my opinion. I have always liked Michael Beihn he is really great as a villain. Such a great actor))😁
It was always a toss up for me, Kilmer's role in Tombstone or in Salton Sea... I think Tombstone edges it out, but if yall havnt watched Salton Sea, you really should! Vincent D'Onofrio is wicked creepy!
Yeah... that moment when Johnny Ringo realizes that he's not getting a pass from Doc, he just gets a fire in his eyes and says "Alright lunger... let's do it!" I think he knew that this was most likely it for him.
You can see that glimmer in Johnny Ringo’s eye at the end when he say’s “let’s do it”, that he knows he is going to die. Beautifully acted by Michael Bien.
@@tomlyons3725 Ringo was truly frightened of Doc in that scene, knowing that he bit off a bit more than he could chew. “I was just playin’.” Doc, “ I’m not.”
@@henryrogers5500 I don't think he bit off more than he could chew, he didn't seem frightened of Doc earlier. I think it was more the fact that Doc showed up when he prepared to have a walk in the park against Wyatt. When you you have a task and realize it will be a lot harder than you thought it would be, it really messes with your head. So I don't really think it was his skills that failed him in their draw, more the fact that mentally he had already lost before it even started. If he were expecting Doc all along he would probably have a good chance of beating him. Awesome scene to an awesome movie
he talked about it at a different convention, it's a 10 minutes segment, it's very interesting, you can find the video by typing michael biehn cup scene
You were so believable in your part. The acting you did with your eyes was excellent. loved the acting, loved the dialog. Thank you for taking on that part!!!!!
Sitting here watching this, I couldn't believe he brought up that exact part that he says was the best in all his years of acting, I've talked about that little moment so many times over the years because it was the exact expression someone would have in real-life, its an expression split between, ok, and this is not what I really want to do. You can't teach that or try and tell someone how to do it or what you are looking for, pure acting skill! I've never heard anyone other than myself talk of that tiny bit of acting, but to hear the man who did it ,and reflect on it, totally cool ;)
Ive been thinking the same thing since i first saw the movie as a kid. Its always stuck with me with every movie thereafter, hoping for one scene like that to seal a great film.
I agree with you, but for me the most stand out example of something like that was ironically from the same movie. The look in Thomas Hayden Church's eye when you see him make the decision to shoot it out with the Earps at the OK corral.
Terminator, The Abyss, Tombstone - Nobody brings an intensity to a role like Michael Biehn. Yet, in person he's very relaxed, calm and friendly. Before COVID 19 was a thing, I met him at a convention. He was very happy to shake my hand, pose for a picture and talk to me, one on one, about his upcoming projects. Very down to earth. Great actor, great guy.
I watch this movie whenever it appears on cable, literally dozens and dozens of times. Usually my girlfriend screams “ Again?” and stomps out of the room! Brilliant actors all but this is Val at his ultimate and IMHO the best acting that I have ever seen.
I think in the final scene between Johnny Ringo and Doc Holiday, there was a bit of apprehension in Johnny Ringo's eyes when he saw it was Doc Holiday and not Wyatt Earp. He knew he could beat Wyatt Earp, and almost anybody else in a gunfight, but Doc Holiday was his equal - a scenario he rarely (if ever) faced before.
It's a internet meme at this point: "When you realize..." and then Ringo's pic. Watched Tombstone recently, and although still epic, I had to stop the vid because I was crying laughing after replaying it a few times.
I absolutely LOVE how Doc puts his pistol away just as fast as he pulls it after firing one shot to the head. He knew he had him and that there was no reason to stay guard. Such great character work by both actors.
The way Doc was mocking and taunting Ringo after he put a hole in his head, while he was gasping for air and stumbling around into eternity where hell had awaited him.
@@henryrogers5500 I also love how when Ringo saw it was Doc, he seemed scared. And then when he realized Doc was challenging him he sort of swallowed his tongue before he accepted. Almost like he knew he was going to die, but couldn't back out. I love that movie.
He was awesome. Biehn and Kilmer really kicked ass in a film FULL of great acting from big stars. And that was a great moment in the film. "My fight's not with you, Holiday." "I believe it is. We started a game we never got to finish." "Alright, Lunger. Let's do it." You can see that both men really know what's coming and neither of them are afraid
WOW!!! That scene still amazes. One of the best in cinematic history. I lost count of how many times I've watched that film. Awesome doesn't quite cover it...
Michael has been in some iconic films over the years.....That final duel between Ringo and Holliday,I call the dance of Death scene, kind of strangely beautiful, and chilling, that look Ringo gets in his eyes,a mix of shock and fear,Michael’s Character ,Ringo, really did look like someone walked over his grave ..Excellent 👍👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👏👏👏
TOMBSTONE IS MY FAVORITE WESTERN MOVIE PERIOD!! VAL KILMER AS DOC AND MICHAEL AS JOHNY RINGO WAS JUST A WORK OF CINEMATIC ART!!! LOVED MICHAEL IN THE TERMINATOR, THE ABYSS, THE VICTIM AND OF COURSE TOMBSTONE!!!
Absolutely agree with him on that - I really don't think there was ever a role or roles better suited for two Actors than Val Kilmer as Doc, and Michael Biehn as Johnny - Whoever decided you're this guy, and you're that guy, nailed this. I have watched this movie so many times I literally know every line from beginning to end by heart - And I am One, not a big fan of Westerns, and Two, not even a movie-goer all that much - But Tombstone was a Masterpiece. I also wholeheartedly agree that Val Kilmer, and Michael Biehn should have won Oscars for the Roles they played - They Stole that movie from Kurt, not that he didn't do a great job himself as Wyatt Earp - Hell, every Actor in Tombstone was Amazing - But to me, the Feud between Doc Holiday and Johnny Ringo - That WAS the Movie - Flawless Performances all around though.
One of my most favorite scenes EVER, out of all the movies I've seen in my 38 years. Ringo and Doc really did steal the movie in a subtle and amazing way.
He and Val Kilmer were epic!! Michael Biehn was superbly scary in his ability to go from calm to psychotically murderous in about two seconds. He was always about a half-second away from being willing to kill. The look in his eyes was always chilling as well. Does anyone else also think the reason Doc Holiday understood what motivated Johnny Ringo was because they were so similar? Johnny Ringo was what Doc Holiday (an anti-hero) would have been with just the right push over the edge.
Jim Aiello your right especially just standing calm and kills the priest in matter of seconds after standing listening to priest yelling at Cowboys. Ringo was a cold and sadistic but very smart cowboy while being the most deadly killer in the gang.
@@darwingraves308 hmmmmm.... you know it actually might have been BETTER to have those two actors switch roles. I think Val would have killed it as Ringo. You have to stretch to see it, but yeah .. I could go for that!
That look in the eye certainly portrays a lot more than any words could, a realisation that he has to go through with it along with a sort of excited look like he is relieved that he may actually succeed.
Great actor. I'd never recognize him walking down the street but his performance in Tombstone was epic. Should have won best supporting actor and he's right, Val Kilmer and him stole the movie. I wanted to know more about both of them. How did Johnny Ringo become so educated, and ruthless. I read one of my great-uncle's books about gun fights when I was a kid. They acted it out as they usually happened, and I thought that was brilliant. I didn't know they choreographed it themselves.
I liked him in those two role and as Corporal Hicks in Aliens. His role in Aliens made the movie for me. I wanted to see him in future installments of the franchise but was very disappointed that he was written out as dead in Aliens 3 and it ruined the franchise for me. Reese and Ringo are equally compelling and the movies after the first were not quite the same without Michael reprising his role as Kyle Reese.
Chamindo7 yeah, I knew that ‘shrugs’ not sure what I was thinking when I typed it out. A friend and I would come home from school back in the late 80’s (he had a VHS if it and we literally watched it everyday for several months after school. It is crazy to think about it now. It was our favorite movie and Terminator lol
That's honestly a very fine moment. Each actor is trying to outshine the other, and -- corny though this script can sometimes get -- they take it to a whole different place. I think of this as Biehn's last hurrah (with maybe half a nod to his later cameo in The Rock), and, well, it's a pretty solid one.

I have to say my favorite line in the movie, hard as it is to choose one, would be the exchange between one of the Cowboys and Doc.
"It's the drunken piano player. He's so drunk he's probably seeing double."
"Well I have two guns, one for each of ya."
I always liked how Ringo sarcastically sways his head side to side as he says well...i didn't think you had it in you! Then look in his eyes when he realizes its not Wyatt.
MY FAVORITE PART OF THAT SCENE....because at first, once he realizes it's Doc Holliday, he tries to talk his way out of it, because he actually is afraid of him.
Johnny ringo, was like docs inner demon on the outside walking and talking
The joker 00 right!
That's why he hated it and wanted to kill it.

Oh shit...
Exactly!!
I still don't understand WHY Val Kilmer didn't get an oscar for this man!. I'd say this is one of his best acting performance in his career. Best acting and dialogues.
@Dino. In the words of a famous "philosopher" Spike Lee, 'we was robbed' 😁 Kilmer's Doc character does take me back in time to Tombstone.
Political, Unforgiven a great movie which swept the Oscars was not as good a cast or movie as Tombstone. Unfortunately politics play a part in all these award shows.
Maybe his ego at the time...pissed too many people off?
Oscar has nothing to do with meritorious acting. It's politics.
"Maybe poker's just not your game, Ike... I know, let's have a spelling contest!"
Hahaha! Greatest line in the movie!
I have watched Tombstone a hundred times and I still belly laugh when I see that scene!!
😂😂🤣🤣😄😄😅😅😆😆
My favorite line was, Why Kate, your not wearin a bussel, how lewd.
Ike's reaction is what makes it better!
Michael Biehn comes across as a wonderful and humble human being.

@@huskertailgater Nope. Dana Delaney stuck out like a sore thumb. Two worst casting decisions; her in Tombstone and Maggie Gyllenhaal in The Dark Knight.
Ringo, Hicks, Reese.... Not to mention all the other action films he made... IMHO the 80s & 90s wouldn't be complete without Biehn.

The scene with them speaking Latin, that was the scene for me.
Very scary. Even Big Nose Kate was getting nervous.
That was one of the scenes that set the movie apart from all other westerns

Ever see The Godfather? I agree this is great but it’s not the only one.
Biehn's performance was so good he was the only other character in the film that could still shine when Val was on screen.
He's underrated as an actor.Even though he has worked in more than one James Cameron movie,he is always a different character. He really creeped me out in The Abyss.

@Jessi Louis Honestly, YOU should get some help.
He's spot on about that change in his face and body language when he said "lets do it".

Tombstone is my favorite movie. It has one of the greatest collections of actors ever assembled.
Love that Mr. Biehn's favorite acting moment was the same as one of my favorite acting moments. I have always thought that that look of instant demonic transformation was one of the best pieces of acting ever!
The 3 main actors use their eyes in their roles 3 instances:
-Kurt Russell's in the scene where he slaps around the bully.
Biehn and Kilmer absolutely stole every scene they were in. That's an incredible feat when you're acting along side Kurt Russell and Powers Boothe.
You can see that glimmer in Johnny Ringo’s eye at the end when he say’s “let’s do it”, that he knows he is going to die. Beautifully acted by Michael Bien.
Interesting take - I couldn't see that

@@henryrogers5500 I don't think he bit off more than he could chew, he didn't seem frightened of Doc earlier. I think it was more the fact that Doc showed up when he prepared to have a walk in the park against Wyatt. When you you have a task and realize it will be a lot harder than you thought it would be, it really messes with your head. So I don't really think it was his skills that failed him in their draw, more the fact that mentally he had already lost before it even started. If he were expecting Doc all along he would probably have a good chance of beating him. Awesome scene to an awesome movie

@@KrazyKlips I think there's a glimmer of, "Maybe I just might pull this off."
Terminator, The Abyss, Tombstone - Nobody brings an intensity to a role like Michael Biehn. Yet, in person he's very relaxed, calm and friendly.
Every time Tombstone is on cable TV, everything else that is on gets put on hold. It is 1 awesome movie and I watch it whenever I can.

I have watched this movie so many times I literally know every line from beginning to end by heart - And I am One, not a big fan of Westerns, and Two, not even a movie-goer all that much - But Tombstone was a Masterpiece. Does anyone else also think the reason Doc Holiday understood what motivated Johnny Ringo was because they were so similar? Johnny Ringo was what Doc Holiday (an anti-hero) would have been with just the right push over the edge.
I absolutely believe that. Doc pretty much confirms it right?

Johnny Ringo character added so much to the movie.
Ringo goes through a great range of emotions in that scene. Overconfident predator to shock to bargaining to nihilistic madman.
Perfectly stated!
That look in the eye certainly portrays a lot more than any words could, a realisation that he has to go through with it along with a sort of excited look like he is relieved that he may actually succeed.
The Genuis in Michael's acting in this is he shows us that Johnny is afraid of doc but knows he has to fight.

Just fantastic. Great to hear Michael Biehn discuss this great movie. He was outstanding.
I'll always remember Michael Biehn for only two roles: Kyle Reese and Johnny Ringo.

That's honestly a very fine moment. Each actor is trying to outshine the other, and -- corny though this script can sometimes get -- they take it to a whole different place.
