I know they are old ones but I've just watched your tiagra derailure installation vids. I just installed them both. Your vids were the best instructional how to's on you tube and very helpful. Thank you.
I have a 6800 that was subject to the recall, I stopped using it years ago because we were starting to see failures and I didn't want to risk it. So I kept the crank assuming there would be a recall that just never came. So my crank passed the inspection, but I'm still not comfortable using it, my local bike shops have seen many failed cranks during this recall but I'd rather not find myself on the ground because of this.
@@thisandthatandotherthings Yeah, humid n a bit salty to boot. I have had cheap steel nuts and bolts corrode after a few years. I was just checking out Rene Herse cranks as a replacement.
I've only got a 6800 on an older bike no issues and that crank did lots of work. I ride in dry conditions mostly so feel confident that its fine. My newer bikes now use sram and campy cranks matched upto shimano

I've got a 6800 that failed about 5 years ago. For some reason I kept it and took it to my lbs. Waiting to hear back
Agree on the 9000. Used to own one and lifted the whole bike. Great looking crankset

My wife won't let me ride now until Shimano here in Singapore figures out what it is going to do.
@@waisinglee1509 Prudent as most failures have occurred in humid climates

Dura-Ace 9000 is the best looking group for sure 😍
I have some 8000 cranks not fitted and CRC emailed me a few days ago. I better check before they go bankrupt!
So glad to see someone point out that only a small number of these cranksets are likely to be problematic.
I believe that it's about 4,500 known failures from around 2.8 million cranksets

There are many more that are coming to light now that people are getting inspections done.
Hello, на slx m7100 шатуны, подойдёт xt или xtr звезда?
I have the grx 11 speed. I hope im clear on this.
Doesn’t apply to the GRX cranksets!
@FreeToCycle thank you! Hope you're on the full mend after your accident my man. 👊🏽👊🏽
It’s when they are left wet they could fail. It’s been common in humid countries. Keep them clean and dry. 9000 is the best looking.
Not exactly. There are a number of factors involved including wet weather, humidity, salts in your cleaning solutions/product and so on.

Glad I skipped the Shimano crankset portion of the Ultrgra groupset and went with a Praxis crank.
Is this just a one time inspection? Or is Shimano recommending periodic future inspections?
One time so far.
On shimano website (eu at least) it says recommends follow up up around a year later and they cover this too.
