    man dude your work is just outstanding. If I lived closer to you, I would bring my 98 Chevy K1500 Truck to you and probably have you just overhaul/restore the whole thing! HAHA

    Would have changed the bushing there too while you were there. Enjoying the channel as I am working on a 96 Suburban!

      Do you know the bushing part number?

    The seal puller was unnecessary as it comes out with the metal ring so you can skip that and just go straight to knocking the ring out

    @MS-uo8ny 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So u skipped removing the drive shaft I pulled the shaft off but half the u joint mount is still on the transmission I've unbolted it (3/4 inch)but it won't slide off do splines have March or? should I pry it off? Hammer it? Don't want to damage it...

    • @SuburbanRanch
      @SuburbanRanch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @M S You unbolt it from the differential and then slide it out of the transmission

      @@SuburbanRanch I'm thinking I got the pinion and tail shaft seal mixed up this is towards front of vehicle and needs a puller to remove

      @M S Yeah. We are dealing with the transmission output shaft seal, you are dealing with the pinion seal

    so i’m replacing the seal due to it leaking transmission fluid. i have a 1988 gmc 2wd and i took the drive shaft out and hand a lot of fluid came out is that normal?

    • @SuburbanRanch
      @SuburbanRanch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Kyle Bates Yes it’s normal for fluid to come out when you remove the driveshaft. Especially if you have the truck on an incline (like when it’s on ramps)

    what about a booted seal? there a differnce?

    • @SuburbanRanch
      @SuburbanRanch  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Corporal Oddball The booted seal is a good option, just has an extra dust seal.

      @@SuburbanRanch what would the part # be for a booted seal?

      @Chicken Foundation Just put your truck into here and it will give you it www.rockauto.com. For my truck it would be GM 15661460

    I’m having trouble finding a seal for a 93 5 speed manual. I have no idea what type of manual transmission it is I have tried to look it up but the only numbers on it are GM8680834 on the bell housing and 8680835 closer to the rear transfer case seal. If anyone can help me please respond.

      @universe_boy roblox If you are referring to the driveshaft yoke, then yes, I think it should be ok to add a little grease to the outside and slide it into the seal

    Dexron VI is now recommended

    • @SnoMoJoe1
      @SnoMoJoe1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You cannot use Dex VI in a transfer case or manual transmission that originally used Dex III. Only use GM 18861800 of Dex/Merc. Dex VI can only be used to repace Dex III in an automatic transmission.

    Your using the seal puller incorreclty. You need to be at less of an angle and it will pop right out.
