  • The Tesla Model X in non-metallic black is a detailer's nightmare, but Coleton walks you through the products and techniques he uses to make sure he polishes and treats it correctly.

This is excellent. I would like to see more content like this bc it shows so many dimensions to this that I haven't seen before. Both my cars have soft paint and I would like to polish them and not cause a problem for myself. This is great stuff. Please add more just like this. By the way, could you pair the compound with the pads you used? I heard you pair the fine cut with the white pad, but what brand and type is the white pad? 👍

With the micro cut on a dark colored tesla (such as midnight Metallic silver), what was your technique? (i.e., 4 pass, blow out pad after 8 passes, medium pressure, etc.).

Great video! Someone that actually understands that soft pad isn’t necessarily good for soft paint! Subscribed!

Hey guys, I have the full Gyeon compound polish range with rupes pads. I’m trying to polish my model x but I cannot seem to find the right combination. Does anyone use something similar that can recommend a combination.

So what you saying is that a company decided to spend extra to specifically spray different clear coats for specific group of colors?

Thanks for the video! How is sonax perfect finish on soft paint black?

Great video Coleton! I found Sonax Perfect Finish on a medium pad also finished out really well with zero hazing but the wipe off was a bit grabby too but a dampened wipe off cloth removed it no problem. I agree the solid black Tesla paint hazes so easily when using the usual combo. I need to try Koch Chemie micro-cut! I wish Tesla paint wasn’t so dang soft but I love seeing the final product everytime.

I have to thank you, i got a little experience washing cars ( the correct way) and polishing my cars. I used all the products you listed here in my new 2024 Black TESLA Y PERFORMANCE and i was able to clean the paint at least a 97% no haze! I really appreciate this video! 🎉

your finished result looks incredible! If you have a new black Tesla from taking delivery and want to achieve that mirror like finish, what would you recommend? No scratches to speak of. Thanks!

I have never before seen a car on youtube where the image does not change at all when a detail light is shone on it. Quite literally a mirror. Insane results, well done.

    Compound - Jesscar compound
    Polish - sonax perfect finish
All you need. You can master these over years. My opinion and is used at esoteric as you know details supercars. HyperCars. Extreme collectibles. Museum cars…
Given they Polish multiple cars daily they’ve found what works through hands on experience. Testing. Tool diagnostics. Comparisons.
I am also one of the camp that I have one bag for polishing. One for cleaning. I am a minimalist and find working with limited products then chasing the next best does nothing for skill levels. It’s in those minute details where you find all the difference. 3 pads. 2 polishes is all one needs for a lifetime of mastery

Great stuff. Another trick I used when I get stuck battling micro marring or haze on soft dark paint, is to just remove the polish with an ONR soaked rag and maybe even spray the panel. I think I need to also try some waffle pads.

I have a white model 3 and can see some light scratches in low sunlight (early morning or evening) but have a hard time finding them with other light. What budget inspection light do you recommend to use for polishing to ensure I get them all out, thanks!

Spectacular results!! Thank You for this video!! I just found Your channel 4 days ago, ironically I just bought a black 2023 Tesla 5 days ago! I hope to find time to use Your formula soon, the orange peel is pretty bad on Mine.

I also got a black Plaid.
The orange peel was more like ripple waves on mine. Especially noticeable on the hood. Also, a sort of dullness.
I got it fixed because I was mighty unhappy with the car as delivered.
Now it is not bad, much to my relief.
(my car was delivered on 8th October 2023)

Get black if you can get it fully covered in PPF!
      If not go with red.

Just put a coating on after polishing. You’re fine for two years. Or go polish angel sealant ( cosmic v2 ) with topper of cosmic spritz every three months. Then reapply cosmic v2 in a year. You don’t even need to worry for years. I’d extend to 3 years before another polish even
But yes. I wouldn’t get black. Worst color to deal with 😂

Why would you need to go with a micro fibre cutting pad on soft black paint . Was the paint that bad that a lake county orange would not have worked. Or a buff n shine Euro 50/50. I agree kcx micro cut is phenomenal . I like to pair it with there color coded purple pad which has some unique features that justifies the pads expense. Nice job on the Tesla.
