    My dad was the locomotive engineer on this line for 42 years....back when it was the Jersey Central RR.

      @@TravelwithMark spent a lot of time hanging out in Bay Head junction. Got to ride up front with him to Jersey City several times.

      Yes, couple of suburban blocks. Very easy walk as well. No hills or anything like that. There are some steps over the dunes to get onto the actual beach.

      There’s no straight through train. The changeover is to the oldest, most run down NJT train for that local stretch on the shore

    It is sad how gross these trains are.

      It is indeed. They are quite filthy. Seats are dirty, toilets not cleaned. They could be so much more if there was just a little pride in the product.

      That said, they do seem to be replacing some of the older ones with newer designs that look like they’re easier to clean and maintain. We can only hope
