      But i think Sonam is heavily misled by Rhea's ideologies. If Sonam really wants to up her game, she shouldnt be doing Prem Ratan, Players, Thank You and even Veere Di Wedding. Neerja showcased her acting skill and she should have stuck with content driven films.

    Correction to the Julia Roberts anecdote- It was Clooney who sent her a $20 bill attached to the script and a note '"I hear you're getting 20 a picture". She was reluctant to work in Ocean's as she had just done Erin Brockovich with Soderbergh for $20 million and won her Oscar. She didn't do it for free but for $10 million as did the rest of the cast.

      Yes i tell why its so small.. Bcoz overseas market is very low.... They hardly made 10-14crore even if film is so good... Otherwise its 3-4crore... Out of that you only get 30-40%... For example raid made 2m dollar at US.. Means 14cr.. Now india will only get 5crore... Now imagine most of indian films only make 4-5crore.. UK Australia New Zealand are even worst than US...

    • @aishwaryachopra6048
      @aishwaryachopra6048 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @worldtraveller 1 I am all about respecting personal opinions which is why I commented. If you would have said I don't like the film she makes it's completely okay but you're commenting on someone as a person and that's unjustifiable until you know anyone personally . About the film, if you haven't seen it it is a representation of real women to the degree where Indian audience can accept it , yes she had advertisements and the whole glamour attached to it but then how else would you pull in the crowd and cater to it . Because our society is largely patriarchal , it hard to show women occupying their own space whilst men coexist. Equality is still an esoteric utopia which is why I said you must say things by being consciously aware. It takes alot for films like this to be made itself , I hope you make opinions after being aware of all that it takes to make one.

    They told that they've not yet realised the full potential of how much money a movie can make but failed to address the lack of infrastructure available. Today a movie does more in China than India largely because of the number of screens it's plays on.I live in a small town of southern India where I don't have the opportunity to watch Andhadhun or Bhadhai ho in theaters and have to wait till they come on a OTT platform. To fully realise a movies potential they first have to build a strong distribution network and make sure it reaches maximum audience

  • @yugsa8297
    @yugsa8297 6 ปีที่แล้ว +65

    My takeway about these producers. Karan seems to care about movies as a cinelover, good casting but mostly his discussions are about money. Siddharth seems to give considerable attention to the director & the story yet money does matter. Rhea Kapoor is under the false impression that she's promoting female centric movies, she promoted her friends & family. Anushka Sharma is more of a producer than Rhea Kapoor, you should've called her & Karnesh instead. But Anand L Rai seems actually care about cinema as a medium of social impact. Money seems to be on the back burner for him. That part where he talked about tummbad listen carefully, he never mentioned the money. He said what lesson it teaches the Audience. And that right there is the difference. That's a person you can expect good stories from. That's why his track record is so strong. Rest of them are "money, money, money" & then story.

    Rhea Kapoor's "insights" reek of elitist and out-of-touch-with-reality sensibilities. Nothing she has produced as a "female producer" has broken stereotypes or moved mountains. Also, Karan has a lot of genuinely insightful things to say here but maybe he should have had a separate interview where he doesn't overshadow the impressively knowledgeable and talented Priti, Anand and Siddharth. Those voices are almost completely drowned out when they shouldn't be. Rhea Kapoor has NOT earned her seat at this table.

Few years back he made bajrangi bhaijaan and it was a good film. His acting wasn't better or anything, it's just that the script was good. Same with shah rukh. Fan and raees are good films on paper but their execution was bad. Harry met sejal was a bad film. Same with aamir and thugs. It's not that their careers are in danger or anything. Just make better films. That's what audience wants. Your brand is still there, just use it in a better way.

Paise kamana badi baat nahi hai, kaise kamate ho wo maine rakhta hai. Dilwale earned shit-ton of money but it's a bad movie nonetheless. Abhi ke time me Agar ghatia movie banake paise expect karoge then aur nahi chalega.

    1) Either the interview was badly conducted or badly edited. We could only hear karan johar blabbering away. ALR was just a showpiece. Big difference between how masand and anupama conduct roundtables. Masand questions and waits for others to answer. Anupama questions and suddenly goes on 1 on 1 mode.
    2) If Film companion wants to promote women more by including more women on the roundtables..Competency should not be ignored. I would anyday anytime prefer Anushka (NH10,Phillauri,Pari) over Rhea.

Anand L Rai is probably the most credible one, and that too seems quite likely to change with Zero. It's about time we see people like Rahi Anil Barve / Soham Shah, Sriram Raghavan, Leena Yadav, Patrick Graham, Amit Sharma etc. discussing this revolution since they themselves are its catalysts rather than this joke of a panel. This is also precisely the reason we need to progress from having film critics with affluence and strong PR machinery as their sole claim to the centerstage to people who have a more genuine / uncoloured / fair set of opinions with due perspective. With each passing interview / segment, it seems that TH-cam channels by young critics are doing all of that exceedingly better.

    the problem with the big *stars* in high concept movies is that they fail to leave behind their 'stardom'. They need to shed the fact that they are stars, that they are actors who have acted a certain way, shed their individual persona and completely embody the character. And till that happens they movie won't have the impact it should. For example, through Dear Zindagi, I kept trying to see Dr. Jehangir. But Shahrukh Khan just overpowered him. (Also, side note, he should stop doing movies like jab Harry met sejal. The time for such dumb romances has passed and so has the time for Shahrukh to appeal to teenagers) Salman let's not talk about, he's a star who says some lines, not an actor. And then there is Aamir, who in Dangal became the father. But failed to do that in Thugs. In Thugs he was Aamir Khan in a costume.
    And that's where Rajkumar Rao, Vicky Kaushal, Ayushman Khurana and the likes win.
    From the looks of Zero's trailer, he still is Shahrukh Khan. Not the character he is playing. So let's see what's in store

      mother earth I agree. Dear Zindagi was a mediocre movie in every way. Writing. Direction. Acting. Editing. Everything. And thank God I found one person who thinks Alia Bhatt can't act. People have actual gotten angry at me when I have voiced my opinion on her acting skills and they always say ya who else do you think is good. Now just because she's amongst the better ones on the industry doesn't mean she's good (damn that speaks volumes about the level of acting in country). Everyone is just so ga ga over her it's baffling.
      And how Dear Zindagi got the acclaim that it did is beyond me.
      And I'm a psychiatrist in the making. So for me this movie was not just horrid cinema wise but also because of how they portrayed the process. The movie was just so flawed in every way.
      And like I thought, zero has failed because srk is a short srk in the movie. Why couldn't they have found a charming person whose actually that height in reality to play the character. Why the need to have srk in it. Oh I know why, cause srk produced it.
