He made a patriarchal film where guy leaves the girl for his family lol. Angry girl accepts disrespect of her own family & still wants to go back to him
RRPK was a surprise, went with no expectation. A commercial entertainer with positive msg, criticism on patriarchy & mysogyny, addressed the cross cultural biases & bullying we Indians casually do. Good one 👍
That scene where Tota talks about how people laughing at him was nothing new - omg it totally totally got me - it was just perfect. The dialogues were so spot on.
Dola re dola sequence will forever be one of the most impactful scenes of Indian cinema history. Hats off to Karan Johar and all the people behind ideating and creating it.
That moment when anupama held his hands, broke that boundary between all formalities and being human. The emotion and affection that exists within us is so simple and heartfelt, when touched tenderly embraces every tendril of your personality.
Kjo is the most misinterpreted person of Bollywood. Everytime , I found his interview to be very intellectual and stating the facts in a beautiful manner . So , happy to see him getting credits he deserves.
I have to admit RRKPK is the kind of movie that film makers doesn’t do nowadays. I’m happy Karan johar made that film. Brilliant movie and characters portraying with Alia’s saree 💯. Brilliant movie!
I really want to thank Karan Johar for giving us this dramatic entertainer. What a fun ride!! I don’t think an audience has had such a blast in a movie theatres in the recent past. Also I LOVE how honest KJo is here 🤍PLEASE DIRECT MOREEEE 😭🫶🏻 We need more fabulous Dharma stories 🎉
I saw Ranveer Singh Alia Bhatt in gullyboy they were fab. But in this movie you took Ranveer Singh Alia Bhatt Jodi to the next level. How did you do it? What is the magic?
Rocky Randhaawa was endearing to the core. Chandan Chatterjee was such a revelation. I never knew Tota RoyChowdhury could dance Kathak so well 🤓 (mind you, being a Bengali, we are used to him playing the most stellar roles and probably one of the best detectives in the business too). The movie was sincerely a delight. Congratulations Karan Johar :)
Say whatever you want, but KJo is just bloody brilliant and a very smart filmmaker. He knows the audience and knows how to bring them flocking to the theatres. Brilliant performances by everyone and good dialogues. Ranveer was at his absolute best and stole the show. Bollywood needed a movie like this.
Karan gets it, he simply gets the nerve of the audience. The nostalgia of the olden music, the veteran actors, cancel culture, subverting gender roles, nuances of Delhi lingo, and so much more. Inundated with humor, heartwarming emotions and heart rending story line, all add up to a great movie that is watchable multiple times ❤️
Ranveer is a fabulous method actor. Best from this lot. He competes with himself, brings the better version of himself each time and it reflects. Kudos team.
Karan is one of the smartest guy out there in Indian cinema, I love all about karan, he is very respectful guy, he takes bad jokes on him , when kangana ignored him on stage karan jo didn’t react bad , he smiled .. it’s good to see , today many producers director actors start to realize the power of social media and public. One can’t imagine, each of us are journalists without going to journalists university, internet has given power to everyone. One thing irritates me a bit with Karan is when he asked some strange questions during his show koffe with Karan .. other wise he is a man of intelligence, loving , fun, lively, educated , outspoken, very entertaining, i never ever felt bored any of Karan’s interview, he sounds genuinely honest and sincere. His mother his children and he friends are so lucky ..
The interview felt like a movie in itself - vulnerable, filled with laughter and just sheer candidness. Two friends pouring their heart out. Best wishes! 🤗❤️

For most non-Indians like myself, we got into Bollywood because of Karan Johar kind of movies…I was enchanted by “Bole Chudiya” and other songs from K3G as a kid and Bollywood’s been a staple ever since 👀 People will criticize him but you can watch scenes from his movies over and over again and is about time he gets his share of respect for his contribution to Bollywood 🤷🏻♀️
Me too... Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was the starting point of liking Indian movies again as an adult after watching it for a bit in my childhood. This man Karan exposed me to the Indian movie Cinema I have come to love, but Bollywood seems to be losing touch while chasing money, forgetting to give us the creativity, entertainment, and soul of Indain movies
I am elated for Karan and his team. They deserve every bit of the praise, compliment, and love that's coming their way. You can see how vulnerable he is here and how emotional he got when he talked about the film being praised. A true master of his craft. Loved the movie so much...❤

Cinematic experience I saw the film twice ... Very happy for U Mr Johar Keep shining 😀 Little mention - Shabana ji is jus wow ❤
So happy for him. Everyone loves his films someway or other but everyone always feels shy to admit it. His films are your go to ones, heart will be full and happy no matter how many times you watch. He don't deserve the hatred, just because of his lavish lifestyle. Hope this film also does well at the box office
Its a good thing that Karan is nervous because no one should take their audience for granted. I hope he delivers good films like he did back in the day.

such a heart warming interview, and the moment when karan expresses the sigh of relief, it just melts the ❤…thank you anupama, karan and fc team for this…
I really wish Anupama asked about Karan's decision of using old songs in some key points to move the narrative and establish the romance of characters. It was such a smart move on Karan's part, even if a viewer is not buying the chemistry or love between characters, they would instantly go into their happy place with old songs and would associate that happy place with the characters.
Karan deserves all the love and adulation and so much more. Thank you for bringing the mainstream charm back into our lives. Thank you for all the movies, the songs and especially this one, that made my mom come back to the theatre and laugh, cry, giggle in the same beats as my Wife and I were experiencing ❤
That kathak dance scene was so meticulously executed .....it shows art has no gender ....wish more of such dances will be performed by both men & women ..in future movies.......it is a good idea to revive it for men too.......I simply loved the continuity of scenes in the movie...there was an inexplicable flow of energy engulfing the audience into its vibrancy ...beautifully executed movie.....my mind felt light when I came out of the theatre ...that's the therapitic effect it had on me !....
KJ made an excellent film. Lamhe was an excellent film and wasn't a commercial success. If this will be the fate of RRKPK, then so be it. But it doesn't change the fact that this film has broken barriers of our time.
This morning I woke up and realized I need to see Karan talk about rocky/rani and to my pleasant surprise Anu had dropped this video 2 hrs back. Loved watching this interview. It’s everything I was looking for and more. I love getting these details and behind the scene stories of movies I love. I’m gon watch it again this weekend here in Tennessee, USA. Theater was full last weekend. I laughed so hard in the first half that the guy sitting next to me gave me a few looks 😂 I was so looking forward to Karan’s movie but was so worried about the chemistry between them (they both are solid actors stand-alone but together don’t look much in love). But i was so glad the movie made it all convincing. Of course, I missed Shahrukh’s collaboration with Karan, together I think they just create magic. I hope they work together again in this lifetime. Also, shoutout to Ranveer who just stole the show. Specially in the intense scenes, he shined as an actor. He’s such a powerhouse of a talent. He just pours his heart into the character - that you just can’t help but love him, drop your ideas of sophistication, and stop feeding your ego by looking down upon lesser educated or so called not classy behavior.
I would like Karan to know that the first jump Rocky did for dola re dola I clapped so hard my hands pained. I was the only one clapping in the theatre but I just didn’t care
I love Karan's interviews. I'm also really happy about how lovely this film is. I'm particularly happy for Ranveer. He needed this so much. It's nice to have a beautiful love story for a change
God damn, Karan is so bloody aware of himself as a film-maker. It's like he knows everything we as an audience are thinking! He's on point with so many things--walking the tight rope, making Ranveer's character more charming than cringey, songs not actually hitting until after watching the movie (bc of context), etc. etc. Flawless movie, such smooth story-telling, brilliant acting by our two faves (and next SRK-Kajol level jodi), dialogues amazing, a true modern day Bollywood feel-good movie that's just been missing for years now... SO HAPPY YOU MADE THIS MOVIE!
I think it was a KJO original - it had all the tropes but not in the manipulative sense - more of true to his vision, how he’d like to tell that story. Also, the core - the story was solid - very well written and that’s what truly worked. The emotions were honest, the melodrama was believable. I was actually most touched with the male kathak dancer part. All the actors totally killed it. It was a beautiful movie. Thank you Karan!
I'm so touched with his disclosure about him getting excited to dance get praised by his father and relatives but then when he did the same outside, the world made fun of him , I can so relate to the pain he must have felt at that vulnerable age 😢, it's powerful when you can turn that experience around, weave it so meaningfully into a movie scene, it helps others who, must have at some point of their life, experienced a similar situation , it's beautiful and highly artistic to bear your soul through cinema.awesome movie at so many levels , a big thank you for this portrayal❤
I love this interview so much that I am watching it third time I love karan since beginning the magic he can create no one can do he is just wow with his films ❤️🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 thank you anupama for bringing him back
Karan would NEVER take his audience for granted, it shows in the way he makes movies, above all, this should be the reason why the movies he makes should be given a chance, at the very least.
Questions were short, crisp. a lot of space given to answer. Which is good. In a few interviews ive noticed question r really lonnng .. Literally in two parts.
Karan Johar thought that having fans in the North would impress Mahesh Babu and allow him to make a movie with him. But Mahesh Babu didn't answer his calls and confirmed in an interview that he didn't know Johar until Rajamouli mentioned him.
Thank you Anupama for this. And Karan being your ardent fan and the unrequited backlash you received all these years I’m too teary eyed that this worked for you. ❤❤❤❤ please do an srk Kajol again
I went to watch the movie with my parents and kids...and the movie was loved by all generations uniformly across...we live in a small town in assam..the entire theatre clapped after dola re dola...it was such a dramatic and impactful moment. @karan johar take a bow...God bless...thank you for 100perc entertainment..this is Hindi cinema...this is what we stand for...
U dont know how happy it made me when i saw the movie with my two daughters and i am so glad that u karan made it..touchwood..but i still think the movie should get more love
One of the best aspects of this movie is the spectacular and highly talented cast - especially the ones playing the family and poor Namit Das - and the extensive ode to old and new Hindi cinema. The writing would not have worked quite as effectively without the cast, the music, and the conviction of the director. Very well done, team!
Even I had this strong desire to call you and thank you. I don't have your number sadly. Loved every bit of it. I have watched it twice. Can't get over it still. Do Re Dola took my heart away, on of the greatest scenes in Bollywood
Being a Gujarati it was tough to understand why there is so much fuss about boys dancing with such delicate moves, because in Garba, both boys and girls always have same dance moves and we have been doing that for centuries and every year for straight 9 days. Thanks to KJO for including that Dola Re Dola rendition in the movie.
I just kept this interview on the backseat before I watched the movie because I just saw it yesterday as I had delivered a baby so couldn't catch up when it was released. I wanted to know all about the prep and process of it all from the man himself. I now can truly say I am really that KJo fan not just for the movies he makes but a fan of him. Loved the movie though ❤
I absolutely love watching Karan’s interviews! He is so honest anf just full of heart! I could hear him speak for another hour and I would not be bored! Happy for him that his movie is doing so well!🎉
Kudos to Karan for being so honest in his conversation & the way he showed up the society that its ok for men to dance those moves. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 no one should be shamed or bullied being the person they are. ❤ great.
Congratulations on making DDLJ of this century!! The Prime version should include the edited version of this interview and please make affordable Clothing of RRKPK'S. Manisha Malhotra's non luxury collection!
As a Bengali I feel you could have mentioned Tota and Churni some more. Two legends from bengali cinema in a mainstream Bollywood movie how cool was that 🎉
There is something very vulnerable and endearing in him, that makes him stand out and about. U just cannot ignore this man. I am always pulled to his interviews
Thoroughly enjoyed the interview, especially watching Karan's viewpoint, his 'Humane' side! Its true that mid life crisis is all about bottled up emotions!! Lots of joy and peace to you, Karan! You've crossed the big barrier with aplomb! Have watched the movie and contrary to my initial apprehensions, I exited the theatre, pleasantly surprised as it made me laugh, tapped a few emotions, but was a visual delight, in spite of the 'bling'. Rocky was a true reflection of Ranveer, flashy on the outside, but solid on the inside. Its the same for Aliya, BTW Gangubai has left an indelible mark on Aliya and was clearly visible at many instances. But the one aspect that I thoroughly enjoyed was_ Tum kya mile....the melody, the picturization and ofc Manish Malhotras creations have touched my soul!✨️✨️✨️✨️

Please tell KJo I noticed he was away from all the marketing and other social media. Thank you for doing this interview!
Karan’s movies are always the best & good to watch at any point in life. He is loved by audiences not critics all this while.
So happy for Karan. Inspiring to see him happy and take all the past criticism in his stride to actually put out this great piece of cinema.
44:52 awww he’s such a cutie! So glad he’s happy! I love his interviews so much. Such an honest person ♥️
Such a honest interview. Karan never shy away from expressing what he truly feels. Waiting for Koffee with Karan...❤
Need to watch the film again this time with subtitles. Easily one of the most wholesome films of this year
I love this interview so much that I am watching it third time I love karan since beginning the magic he can create no one can do he is just wow with his films ❤️🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 thank you anupama for bringing him back
Karan would NEVER take his audience for granted, it shows in the way he makes movies, above all, this should be the reason why the movies he makes should be given a chance, at the very least.
Wow this felt a therapy session for Kjo and it was actually so insightful to see what was happening throughout the whole process, well done!
Questions were short, crisp.
a lot of space given to answer. Which is good.
In a few interviews ive noticed question r really lonnng .. Literally in two parts.
I was pleasantly surprised by the kind of Questions anupama asked to him and he answered beautifully. Nice interview at the right time👌👍
Question paper was already leaked ! Do t you get it this interview is a PR gimmick
@@Besties591 ofcourse they are but they are addressing the criticism of people, atleast they aren't oblivious.
Karan Johar thought that having fans in the North would impress Mahesh Babu and allow him to make a movie with him. But Mahesh Babu didn't answer his calls and confirmed in an interview that he didn't know Johar until Rajamouli mentioned him.
And Abhi Na Jao Chhod Ke rendition was amazing. It is a personal favorite and it was very well made. 🫶
Thank you Anupama for this. And Karan being your ardent fan and the unrequited backlash you received all these years I’m too teary eyed that this worked for you. ❤❤❤❤ please do an srk Kajol again
I would love to see the full uncut version of the movie including full songs. This was by far the sharpest KJO movie. Simply loved it.
Why weren't Shahrukh khan and Kajol part of his movie this time ..? He always brings them.. even for 1 scene.
A beautiful film! Damn, I missed Karan Johar's cinema!
I would watch 3 hours plus of this movie 😢! Amazing one. Much love ❤
Great interview.. He actually brought the cinema which we grew up watching.....❤
Karan is always a delight to listen to❤
I love the way he showed that rani is android user and rocky is apple user, focused on the minor details, great movie
Karan’s interviews are always very engaging to watch.. you get to understand why he holds such a solid position in the industry
Please make part 2 of Rocky & rani.. loved the movie ❤❤❤
Happy for him that his movie is doing so well!🎉
So vulnerable and real! Loved KJO in this interview. Anupama got the best out of him.
I always love listening Karan ❤ and this time I specifically loved it more because its about RRKPK ❤ Absolutely lovely movie 😍
Loved the movie,being a Bengali,enjoyed a lot
Great interview Karan’s sensibilities are so relatable 🎭
To be honest. "Picture bahut achhi hai." I watched it in the theatre and enjoyed it thoroughly. Period. ❤️❤️❤️
RRPK is Karan Johar's best movie. I must say it's the most boldest mainstream movie even from Hindi cinema POV
I am from Pakistan now living in USA loved the movie Rocky and Rani wonderful movie as you always made in the past.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Kudos to Karan for being so honest in his conversation & the way he showed up the society that its ok for men to dance those moves. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 no one should be shamed or bullied being the person they are. ❤ great.
CONGRATULATIONS Karan - this film is a gift to the viewers 🍾🎈🎉
Congratulations on making DDLJ of this century!!
The Prime version should include the edited version of this interview and please make affordable Clothing of RRKPK'S.
Manisha Malhotra's non luxury collection!
Heartwarming interview.. Thanks for this Anupama and Karan
As a Bengali I feel you could have mentioned Tota and Churni some more. Two legends from bengali cinema in a mainstream Bollywood movie how cool was that 🎉
I agree
Such a beautiful interview ❤️ Heartwarming and wholesome ✨Thanks FC team.
There is something very vulnerable and endearing in him, that makes him stand out and about. U just cannot ignore this man. I am always pulled to his interviews
So happy to see them talking about the writers so much! Such a pleasant change we have had!
