    this show is literally the most relatable show for teens struggling with eating disorders, coming out as gay, and not having the best family relationships. The show was funny and something was always happening , why do people wanna watch a show called riverdale where thirty year olds play teens like I’m so confused why someone would cancel the show. PLEASE BRING A SEASON 3!

But people, there's still hope! 30k< signed the petition about at least worthy ending so I trust something may be possible :/ I really hope that won't remain a Netflix show which made afraid of watching any other series forever :v

    as an ex fatty, I found nothing wrong with this show. What she went through in the show is what i experienced in life. I honestly can't see what it is wrong here. They showed the world how it is when you lose a lot of weight. This show captures the real struggles of people who goes from Fat to thin. sorry, but this video is wrong in their judgement. .

      do all fat people kill people? lmao. I didnt realise that when someone goes from fat to skinny that it makes it so easy to push the blame of their actions on to anything but themselves and blatently disregard other people at parts of the series. oh and then kill them when they call them out on it lol. Then the show goes on to make the character continue to be completely relatable and that what she does is justified. nothing wrong with the show at all

    • @daisymay7537
      @daisymay7537 6 ปีที่แล้ว +55

      Ryan Harvey it’s a tv show Ryan it’s obviously fiction with certain points that contain reality but I’m sure you’re intelligent enough to know that (most tv show comedies and dramas tend to do that if you haven’t noticed ex: Pretty little liars , Lucifer and orange is the new black )

    • @harveyr99
      @harveyr99 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      most tv shows that are watched by those who aren't adults don't make it out like its okay to just drop one person for another person, who also admitted he was a drug dealer, just cause they're horny for them. the problem isn't that there are so many crazy things going on in the show, its that the show makes it out that when you do these things there isn't anything wrong with it. and yeah i might be clever enough to know the difference between the realistic thoughts of the main character and then the fictional crazy ones. but i know that for a 15 year old it would definitely be possible for them take some of the crazy points as a realistic one. Especially as they aren't so clearly cut from each other like this show.
      also btw i dont have a problem with the fat stuff in this its obvious the point the show is making with that.

    • @daisymay7537
      @daisymay7537 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Ryan Harvey you assume way too much. As you are assuming it would be completely fair that I could only assume you’re not a 15 year old so how would you know they would take the jokes in this series out of context ? And if you were I’m sure you don’t speak on behalf of all of them

    A lot of this show's criticism is incredibly misguided. This show does not depict the struggles of fat people, but rather the struggles of those who have lost a lot of weight. It shows that being skinny DOES NOT solve everything and that it will NOT fix all of your insecurities. Also, I fail to see what was so wrong about them comparing significant weight loss to transitioning. They're not saying that the experience is the same, they are simply depicting two women who went through major bodily transformations finding common ground. Additionally, in msmojo's last point, they completely misunderstood what Bob was saying in regards to being accused of assault. He's saying that being accused of sexual assault and claiming that the victim made it up looks as bad in the EYES OF THE PUBLIC as if he had actually done it. However, no TV show is perfect, and I will say that I do find their jokes about bisexuality quite infuriating. I haven't finished it, so they may redeem themselves on that front. But as I already said, no show is perfect. I society's black and white attitude towards media incredibly frustrating. It seems that we have to love something completely or hate it (without even learning what it it truly about). We can no longer like something, but also acknowledge its flaws. On top of this, people were petitioning to get this show banned having only seen the trailer. First of all, banning media is an incredibly risky slope and if anything often makes people want to consume it more. Don't get me wrong, I am all for calling people out on problematic bullshit, but if you're going to do that, please double check and make sure that it is actually problematic. This show actually has a very positive message on the whole and it angers me to see that people are trying to get rid of it when they don't actually understand it. That would be like trying to get a book banned having only read the synopsis. You're allowed to not like something. You don't have to watch something if you know it's going to trigger you, but for the love of god, don't ruin it for everyone else. You don't have to agree with me, but refusal to hear out what the other side has to say indicates to me that you're not so sure about your own points. It appears as though you're afraid that we might be right.

      Thanks. I have a lot of opinions on it even if it is a bit of a corny sitcom. It just frustrates me that our solution to anything vaguely problematic is to ban it. Like why not talk about it? Dissect what is and isn't good? Use critical thinking? Lmao. Also I find it funny that some people are so quick to ban this show and claim 13 Reasons Why is a good/relatable depiction of a touchy topic (although as much as I dislike 13rw I still have to admit it succeeds in some ways).

      Exactly

    • @j.a.8969
      @j.a.8969 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the characters did have growth, just not the kind we like or expect. The haters, the enablers, the bullies, the bad parents,... they all just kept stepping up their game, getting more unlikable in every episode. Essentially, they grew worse. The only remotely sane, likable characters in the show were the fat, black lesbian pageant queen who was completely comfortable with herself (the exact opposite of Patty), and the guy we expect to fit the dumb, bullying jock stereotype (popular, attractive athlete with a mean but equally popular and attractive girlfriend, and financially well off parents). Everyone else is a caricature, bad decisions made flesh. I think that may be how the show runners intended it, but if not, that's how the package came across to me.
      I got from it that once you get past that one thing you think you have to change to become perfect, you have to confront the truth that your problems won't just disappear, and maybe everyone we think of as perfect on the outside is potentially just as selfish, toxic and crazy as Patty in reality.

    #5 - The premise is a teenage girl who loses a huge amount of weight and is suddenly treated better by those around her, yet she doesn't feel different inside and the anger that stems from the shallowness of not only her peers, but the adults in her life.
    #4 - Bob and Patty's relationship is super creepy. Patty feels an inappropriate attraction to the first man who gives her any kind of positive attention. This is a very real truth that young people who are emotionally abused are, in a way, primed for further abuse. Bob however never reciprocates any of her feelings and consistently makes clear boundaries when he noticed something is off.
    #3 - The only other option would be to hire an actor and either have them gain a huge amount of weight for the overweight scenes or have an actor lose a huge amount of weight. Both are physically damaging to actors so a fat suit is the safe, smart option.
    #2 - You're mad that a teenage girl didn't come out of the closet in a show soon enough? Even though a major part of her plot was her learning who she was and gaining self acceptance? And the scene with the woman in the bathroom was, as i saw it, meant to give people an insight into the life and feelings of some trans individuals. They weren't saying being fat and being trans are they same, they were explaining dysphoria through a lens that's easily accessible for most people. Also known as teaching. Finally, the character who remakes that bisexuality doesn't exist is, in fact, a bisexual. This is a great point in the show as bi-erasure is a problem perpetuated not only by straight people, but by LGT individuals alike. Them making a point that Bob is not using bi as a stepping stone, but rather discovering he's sexually attracted to men and women alike is a good point, especially when it most shows they won't even utter the word bisexuality.
    #1 - This is why this show is a dark comedy. The show never once leads us to believe that sexual assault is okay, even as they joke about it. For example, Patty mentions that maybe Bob will like her because she's underage, but she's constantly rebuffed because she's underage. You have to look at more than just a single scene out of context. In addition, bob's line about how it's just as bad for him isn't that he's committed a crime or done some evil that's just as bad, but is instead talking about how some people are accused without any proof or corroboration or even a crime having happened, but then the court of public opinion decides that they're guilty. False accusations have even caused some to take their own lives, so yes, this is absolutely a topic worth touching on. The message isn't "don't believe the accuser". The message is "when you hear of something like this, don't just jump to assumptions and instead look at each case because you have no chance of knowing the truth otherwise"
    Sincerely, my gay fat ass

    I watched the show expecting to hate it, but to be honest, I didn't. I'm fat, I have an eating disorder, I'm bisexual, and I had a crush on my teacher in highscool - and I was not offended by this show one bit. As wonderful as it would be to see a funny comedy with a teenaged obese girl as the lead without any fatshaming or anti-bodypositivity, but that would not be realistic, because, for the most part, being fat gets you bullied, and even if pretty thin girls hopefully don't get away with murder, life tends to be a bit easier for them.
    The episode with the trans woman kind of also made sense to me, because eating disorder makes you see your body wrong. I remember wanting to cut my stomach away when I was younger, that's how much I hated it. Of course, being trans has other challenges, but I thought that part wasn't that bad.
    It's a common joke to call bisexual mythical creatures, since they don't exist, and that part made me laugh, because the show creators knew exactly how silly that sounded - and the character turns out bi so, clearly they exist.
    The storylines about child molesting were, yes, controversial, but so was the entire series. For the victim of molestation, it happening for real is definately worse, but being falsely accused of doing something like that can be really difficult for the accused, if you have no way to clear your name, it is almost as bad as actually doing it, they had a point there.
    I didn't really think this was a superb series, but it wasn't that bad either. The humour is dark, and it appears they have no shame when it comes to sensitive issues. But if a second season comes, I'll probably watch it.

      Leena Love your comment !
      I personally loved that show and I actually love that they show a girl who lost a lot of weight, became “hot” and still doesn’t accept herself, still has eating disorder, still feels angry at everyone. Because it is a reality. Losing weight doesn’t fix everything, that’s the message and it’s a good one. And people get pissed because to them when a character is fat she has to represent every fat girl around the world, and same thing for the LGBTQ+ community. But everyone is different and has his own story. And Patty losing weight and still struggling with how she sees herself is a true issue, if represents some people, just like Bob denying the existence of bisexuality when he is bi represents someone, etc etc.
      By the way I don’t know if you’ve watch the show My Mad Fat Diary but it is another représentation and it’s amazing ! :)

      I honestly love the show as I am a fan of dark humor. A lot of people are just over sensitive and frankly couldn’t even handle “Heathers” if they wanted to. And that movie is pretty dark. The thing is the show brings up a lot of topics that many people would never even think to talk about. Maybe their objective is to start conversation no matter how uncomfortable it makes us feel.

    sat·ire, noun:
    "The use of *_humor, irony, exaggeration,_* or *_ridicule_* to *_expose_* and *_criticize_* people's *_stupidity_* or *_vices,_* particularly in the _context of contemporary politics _*_and other topical issues._*
    If the above definition is what determines a successful satire, then _Insatiable_ is succeeding by leaps and bounds.
    Also, I feel like that if, in the age of:
    _Southpark, Family Guy, The Colbert Report, SNL, The Daily Show, The Simpsons, Mock the Week, The Office, The Onion, Monty Python, It's always Sunny, Futurama, Last Week Tonight, Real Time With __-Loathesome Douchecanoe-__ Bill Maher, Robot Chicken, American Dad, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, etc. etc. etc._
    ...you _still_ need the concept of satire explained to you like you're 5, you're either
    1. A willfully ignorant virtue-signaller who adores/thrives on making social justice mountains out of non-issue molehills.
    2. You flunked/skipped/slept through every English/lit class you've ever had.
    3. You're literally a 5 year old.
    There are so many other issues out there a quadrillion times more important/relevant than a tv show that gets Tumblr, Buzzfeed, MsMojo, and/or Jezebel's collective panties in a twist.
    Simply put, if you're offended by this, (or any other) show, the solution to your problem is quite easy: *DON'T WATCH IT.*
    It's not rocket surgery, people... and I _was_ in a serious Netflix rut... but not anymore! :D

It has homophobic jokes, transphobic jokes, and slut-shaming jokes It also has two women making false accusations of sexual assault. You said that you don't take offence to anything in the show. The fact that you don't take offence to this show for any of the reasons i stated says a lot. Also fun fact im gay too! but when you make a 'gay joke' it doesn't oppress us . But when a mainstream tv show is making jokes AT THE EXPENSE of gay/bi people it marginalises our commuuntiy contributing to our oppression. You probably don't face that much homophobia and so don't see how shows like this affects our community as a whole which is selfish. But lines such as ""Now they think I'm a lesbian and that's way worse," and saying that bisexuals are like demons and aliens as they all ‘don’t exist’ proves to me that you don't understand that blatant homophobia this show exhibits.

    • @robbiejay1646

      Alexander or maybe it say's a lot that he isn't offended because it's a comedy show. I'm gay and if I'm going to watch a comedy I'm not gonna cry when they make a joke aimed at myself. Also the bisexual joke is pretty much poking fun at the people that DO BELIEVE bisexuality isn't a thing. The whole joke basically takes the piss out of all the people your describing. How many shows have made jokes in bad taste. Glee and Scream Queens said plenty of ridiculous shit but I laughed because it's funny. If you're not in the mood for something you're going to find offensive don't watch it. Go watch a movie that's gonna fulfil what you're looking for. People normally cope with there insecurity's through comedy. I don't understand this new age in if it offends anyone get it off the air. Simply change the channel ffs.

If you have watched the entire first season, most of the characters have insatiable hunger for whatever they think can bring them true happiness whether it be being skinny or having multiple lover’s gay or straight. It highlights the reality that humans have an insatiable greed for certain things only to realize that it cannot bring them genuine happiness.

    I have BPD and the main character is super relatable. Just because she is overweight and loses weight - doesnt mean it's a ''fat-shaming'' show. The show is getting spectacular ratings and reviews because people are tired of getting called ''fat-shamers'' or ''bigots''. The jokes are actually making fun of our society - for eg. being accused of sexual assult RUINS a man's life. The clips don't do the show justice. I only watched it bc people were losing their tits over this show, and I'm hooked! The main character is super flawed and I recognised her BPD signs straight away - I'm glad my mental disorder is getting some recognition in the entertainment industry. She does a great job of portraying the questionable moral compass - what is good or evil. It's a battle we all can relate to, epscially if we too have BPD. This video was made by someone with 0 sense of humour. It's caled satire bc the subjects are often serious, yet they need to be laughed at so we can process them better. Get some insight.

      Also family guy is blatant satire, this show however tries to come off as relatable and justifies the actions of the main character. like when she decided it was okay to just leave one guy for another, who had also not long ago admitted he was a drug dealer, just because she was horny for him. but obviously its okay because she should do whatever makes her happy and she can now cause shes skinny lmao. But yeah this is just like family guy with a talking cartoon baby and a dog who can drive a car.

Also hating it without even watching it, that is not having your own opinion, you can hate it, but watch it at least, so you can argue properly why you don`t like it. I think what Kyle is trying to say is that people should stop riding the "popular wagon" and make their own opinion about something, and not just hating because everyone does, not only apply to this show is particular

Her friends tried SO HARD to reach out to her, but she NEVER came to the realization that she was the cause of her own misery (well she did for like a half a second before murdering Stella Rose). The show wasn't fat-phobic at all, they just used her past of being fat as means to trigger her to act impulsively.

      Jayda Tiananga false. Magnolia nevrr bullied her and she stole her boyfriend that initially rejected the her when she was fat. Bob or his wife initially did nothing wrong to her, yet she was on a mission to destroy their marriage. Her own best friend did nothing wrong, yet she couldn't stop being selfish and be an actual friend. So she hurt people that did nothing to her. Even her friend said she ess selfish while fat, so the setup is flakey and wack.

      You guys need to actually think about it properly. It is so damn offensive and insensitive. It helps nobody but hurts so many people. I can’t believe this was passed. It jokes that mental health is a bad factor of a person that being part of the lgbtq + community is awful and thinks that sexual assault and psychosis is funny. Patty clearly needs help but it’s just passed off as comedy for the show. Yes it’s addictive but it the offensive ‘jokes’ were completely unnecessary

    About the sexual assault part ... It wasn't downplaying what happens to victims, it was showing the side of what happens to the falsely accuse, which does happen. :/ Being falsely accused can ruin the innocent's life, the same way a real assault ruins the life of the victim.
    Also, she didn't punch him over the candy bar, she punched him because he called her fat after her love interest called her fat. The point of this show details how being skinny doesn't solve everything and how the effects of bullying has negatively impacted Patty's view of life and the double standard when it comes to beauty.
    Although, when it came to the 3 way ... Yeah, now that was something I could have lived without seeing, but overall it's not a bad show. I especially like how it still shows that Patty isn't over everything that happened to her, that the experience effects all her choices still. Plus the twist where Patty isn't the classic good person being tortured cliche, she's actually a bad person that's gotten everything she's ever wanted and will literally kill to keep it that way; desperate to be the person on top instead of the low hanging fruit.

      A false accusation will literally NEVER ruin your life in the way actual assault and rape will. For starters, the vast majority of actual rapists get away with it. Meaning the chances of someone who was falsely accused actually getting any kind of punishment is VERY slim. Look at Brock Turner as an example of just how easy courts and lawyers are on people who are confirmed, undeniable rapists with multiple witnesses. If there’s so much as the smallest amount of reasonable doubt, a jury won’t convict someone for fear of ‘destroying their life’.
      More importantly, the effects of sexual assault and rape are life long psychological struggles. A lot of rape victims get PTSD. While a false accusation can potentially alienate someone from their family and/or friends, or hurt their career, these factors will never compare to literal PTSD, a fear of all physical contact, chronic depression, anxiety attacks, psychosis, etc.
      I’m just saying, when shows and people attempt to equate the two experiences it can often be misconstrued as an attack on women who come forward with little proof. People jump to the defence of accused men for every and any small reason (I’ve heard “he invited her up to his room to ‘read scripts’, what else should she have expected?”) but won’t care about the well-being of actual rape victims and how hard it is for them to come forward.

    • @loganworzella5835
      @loganworzella5835 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Shannon Gray it isn’t about the courts when falsely accused. You lose out on relationships and could lose your job and opportunities. Several people who were found innocent in trial were still kicked out of college and they know that these are the consequences of something that they didn’t do. Many falsely accused people even commit suicide. I feel that someone who tries to destroy someone’s life based on something they never did is just as evil if not worse than some sexual assault cases

She did kill the pageant coach and her ex boyfriend, but I think that was a dark twist they wanted to give the series to make it more interesting by shocking the audience. • @MikuruAsahina666

    I don’t understand why everyone is hating this show. I’ve grown up like patty (minus the weight loss) and i love the show. Several moments hit home to me and i have felt so bad and horrible but at the same time I understand it’s not just fast shaming and it’s not making fun of it or any of the issues it brings up. It’s showing what it’s like for people who experienced it while adding a Heathers-esque dark humor edge to it to make it easier to watch for people who have never felt those feelings. Hell i broke down in tears after episode 10 because it was all too familiar for me. If people don’t like it that’s fine. Not everyone likes everything but don’t bash it if you 1) don’t get it, 2) don’t like it, or 3) don’t understand there’s more to it when you’ve felt what the characters have felt before

It has homophobic jokes, transphobic jokes, and slut-shaming jokes It also has two women making false accusations of sexual assault. Patty develops a crush on much much older guy which is not only inappropriate, but seems to endorse child molestation. Seriously, if Insatiable is mean to be satire - what exactly is it satirising?

      Angelica Mejia I'm not commenting on your post because I don't like the show. I'm coming in reboot because this show is dangerous and discriminative. I don't care whether I like a show or not but if it promotes a fatphobic homophobic and generally problematic narrative why should I support it? This show marginalises the LGBT community, it promotes eating disorder, it has no problem with child molestation and rape - and I already know the media has such a big influence in the way we act and the way we think so for a show like this to be or Netflix it's very dangerous.

    • @MikuruAsahina666
      @MikuruAsahina666 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I see your POV but honestly it’s not the right one i choose with. You’re only looking at it from the outside and the stereotypes. If more people gave things like this a chance and see it from more than the surface and obvious then it’s a show well worth watching and understanding. It’s like a modern day Heathers. On the surface heathers does the same thing. It pokes fun at eating disorders, homosexuality, teen suicide, bullying. But that’s just what most people choose to see. Heathers is a good story, an amazing movie, and shows sides of issues in a dark satire nature that for some people can relate to. Im just saying it’s not fair to judge the way you and other people do when there’s more than meets eye.

      abigail Williams it addresses mental health, not showing sensitivity but saying it’s a bad quality of a person and that’s it’s bad to have mental health issues. They joke about sexual assault and they think it’s funny for a man to be accused of that for stupid reasons just for a storyline that goes nowhere. There’s about 2 moments of body confidence that’s it. It’s pathetic and outlandish

      If the show is trying be satire it failed. Insatiable says it is satire with no understanding about what it actually means. The show hasan endless stream of odd, tasteless jokes that don’t seem to have any point or aim to them.

    Before I go into this, I want to say I am a homosexual man who struggles with body issues because I used to be bigger than I am now. Also a feminist too.
    #5: The show literally sprinkles in bits and pieces of what fat shaming does to a person throughout the entirety of the show. The show itself has characters in it that shame obesity, but that doesn't mean that the writers themselves also shame obesity; heck there's even an LGBTQA+ character that shows up later in the season who isn't skinny, and she's portrayed as one of the best characters in the show. Just because the writers write something into a show, it doesnt reflect their morals. Heck, television shows that people love have murder, but that doesn't mean the writers enjoy the death of other humans.
    #4: Yea the crush Patty has on Bob is kinda weird. But if you think about it: Bob was the only positive male influence in her life, and before she met him, she felt unloved and unlikable by men because of her appearance, but then she finally had a man (who happened to be older) who believed that she could do anything through positive reinforcement. Younger people can develop crushes on a role model or a mentoral figure, that's just life. Also, any move she made on him was shut down immediately by him.
    #3: There's honestly no other way they could have portrayed her in the past without a fat suit, the characters were fatphobic to her to convey that she was bullied her entire life (which is the premise of the show?? Not making fun of fat people). The only way they could've shown her being bigger is have the actress quickly gain weight, or the reverse; which would be immensely unhealthy for any human.
    #2: I understand the satirical way that Nonnie acts can be taken the wrong way, but the show is in itself is a piece of satire, they wanted to clue the viewers in on how she felt about her best friends, and her sexuality in a light hearted way. But after all was said and done, she came to the realization that she might like girls in a very realistic and relatable way. The thought of bisexuality is introduced in a way that the world usually sees it, in where people just doesn't think it exists. But a few episodes later; Bob comes to terms that he is in fact bisexual. Also, the trans woman and Patty's moment had the same underlying problem, in which they're both uncomfortable with wearing a bikini or something revealing because of how they're body used to look, it even went as far as to say that it's okay to not be 100% comfortable with it as long as you are taking baby steps. All in all the show has some pretty good LGBTQA+ moments; such as the aforemention Nonnie's acceptance of her sexuality and her dad being happy that she's finally happy about it.
    #1: Yes, ESPECIALLY in his line of work, being accused of touching a minor is just as bad as doing it for real. The show even goes to arresting Regina for statuary rape of Brick, which is something that should happen to people who commit the act; something shows like Riverdale (still love it tho) failed to do. Also I agree Patty being into the man who was accused of touching a minor was kind of iffy.
    But yea, that's my complete disagreement with this list, I still love you Ms. Mojo.

    • @edernaferron7147
      @edernaferron7147 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Calen Black I agree with you for all the facts except the #1. I think that what bob meant is that if your accuse of asexually assaulted someone and deny it by saying that she made it up look as bad for the public that if you’ve done it. Because people would think that you’re just trying to get away with it by blaming the victim. Of course, it can be true that she made it up but most of the time it’s not. And as for bob and patty’s relationship, okay, it’s weird. But I think that patty is just confused because this is the first time that a man shows interest in her and find her beautiful. She never had a man in her life and I think she is mixing up father figure and romantic feelings. But through the season she goes to the conclusion that she is not in love with him but that she consider him as her father. And bob is definitely not into her and always make sure that whatever move she’s trying doesn’t work.

This show is a fantastic example of what it’s actually like to be accused of something that never happened. He might as well have touched her because everyone assumes he did anyway
