Imagine not thinking that Bionicle is the pinnacle of movie making.
The most amazing thing is that Lego is actually acknowledging that Bionicle exists again, there is hope for the triumphant return of our favourite childhood series!
I mean it technically returned in 2015 , but the line failed so yea
LEGO is a toy co., so they have to know what we want. Even if what we want is to be spoiled.
Sadly i think there is very little hope of Bionicle returning as we all know and love it as the set we got is more of an one time exclusive GWP(Gift With Purchase) set and not to mention Greg Farshtey the guy responsible for the Bionicle story is quitting from the Lego company very soon.
Can't wait for Bionicle Star Wars
We gotta get a sequel to The Legend Reborn. That was such a cliff hanger and by far the best bionicle movie!
I find it really funny that the Glatorian, apparently even more biological then the Mata Nui residents, were given more robotic, toy accurate designs in the film. I really wonder what Miramax Ignika or even 2008 designs would look like. I need my boy Krika in animation dang it!
At least we got those cool commercials/promos during the ignition trilogy.
Would have loved to see Zaktan and the rest of the Piraka in the Miramax style.
@@FoxsDumbSeriesMaker Yeah!
the glatorian, in lore, are just organic dudes in armor with some tech implants here and there. the fact that legend reborn depicts them as more robotic than the matoran universe residents is absolutely hilarious
@@cideofsacae Now that you mention it, it is funny!
This is not the 8 hour long bionicle collection video I expected. I am very disappointed adam diamondbolt.
It’s amazing that Bionicle is still talked about to this very day.
The guys that made the last Bionicle movie also made Clutch Powers, it seems like they had all of these awesome ideas for trilogy’s but were never given the chance to finish them.
I felt shocked that the Studio who made the legend reborn and are planning to make 2 more movies in the trilogy have to sacrifice it for the clutch powers movie

I was at LEGOLAND Cali recently and I was both amused and disheartened to see that the presence of Bionicle at the park has been reduced to a few statues an an effing kiddie teacup style ride.
I’m not gonna begrudge the kids for being more enthralled by Ninjago and all that, but I think it can be a slap in the face for those that grew up with Bionicle and its world, especially given how Lego is usually respectful of its legacy properties.
Heck freaking Johnny Thunder at least has a walk through attraction and a shooter dark ride. Bionicle should at least have that equal amount of worth.

@@APinchofBazel whats your favorite bionicle movie? Also I like your out of context videos lol
To be fair in the Bionicle Universe, Toa had a code of honor of sorts called the "Toa Code" which not only prohibited Toa from killing their enemies (unless their own lives were being threatened), Toa are also prohibited from using their weapons to kill
Also the giant robot body at the end of The Legend Reborn is just...a giant robot, it was in fact the prototype robot to Mata Nui's own robot body, it was just another creation of the Great Beings
At this point, Adam could make a video of any movie/movie series and I would still wach it
As someone who’s never seen Bionicle before. It’s kind of like walking into a museum of history you know nothing about. As soon as I heard that legendary ’Taaakkkkkuuuuuuuaaaaaaaa’ I immediately knew why it became such an infamous meme for a while. And by god did that phrase it leave my head for a while.
Sad to know this was cut from the final version of Unfriended, where Diamondbolt explains the vast lore of the Bionicle series.
That’s annoyingly clever.
The Legend Reborn
My god the memories of rewatching it
samee, why does everyone hate it tho?
I was about to rewatch these movies over the weekend, so this is incredible timing
These movies were my childhood, I loved them so much and would watch them over and over again!
Really sucks I never knew the Bionicle series as a kid, but seeing DiamondBolt talking about all the movies is a nice way to start a journey. And the quote "TAKUA!" is one of the best lines in cinema history.
God I love Bionicle! A few years ago I went through my old Lego collection and managed find enough Bionicle pieces to build my own original guy and now he's on display on the top of my shelf in all of his mismatched Glory.
Weirdly enough, one of my core memories from my childhood was from back when Netflix was a dvd mail rental service and I queued up The Legend Reborn because I recognized Mata Nui from the set I got for my birthday, but I can't remember if it ever arrived in the mail because most of my memories from that time are flooded with moving stuff because my family moved around a lot since my dad didn't have a permanent job at the time lol
Lego: Doesn't like promoting violence.
Also Lego: Make toys based on Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings.
Yeah, in later they made a Lego set for stranger things
Like bruh they made Indiana Jones sets with actual nazis
My Roodaka figure is sitting one leg crossed on top of the other, on the highest shelf of my display, looking down to any onlookers. Yeah DiamondBolt you're right about Roodaka 😂
In a way, with Takua becoming Takanuva, a child did become the seventh toa; we became the seventh toa
You know, I always headcanon Keetongu as some kind of matoran bigfoot.
LOL, that's basically what he is.
SAME, I THOUGHT THAT WAS JUST ME XD
thats not a great being corpse. the great beings are just ultra smart glatorian. the thing they found was a broken prototype of mata nuis original body that he ended up using to fight makuta who had stolen said body
I accidentally stole legend reborn from my library and watched until it was scratched beyond repair. Can't believe people don't recognize the peak cinema that it is
About the aesthetics of the movies, I believe it was intentional in the Miramax films. Think about it, in the Matoran Universe, they are supposed to be biomechanical, robots with organic tissue within them. Hence the name “BIONICLE”. However, I’ve heard somewhere that the people on Bara Magna are almost completely organic. What Threshold Entertainment did in The Legend Reborn may interpret them as actual toys, with some success. They did, however, improve the facial features in Hero Factory in 2010. Still, that movie was a bit of a mixed bag and didn’t feel like a Bionicle story to me.
But yeah, it is your right to interpret them however you want. Just wanted to get this information out there.
so a little fun fact, the movies were actually to be tied with the comics, at a certain point in the comics they would tell you to go watch the movie to see whats going to happen, then when the movie was over you would go to the next comic in the line
also the giant body found at the end of legend reborn, was not a great being (those would be glatorians) the giant body is a prototype body of the colossal robot from the beginning
Got some lord of the rings vibes from the first movie. Takua and Jaller with a golden mask is basically Sam and Frodo with the golden ring.
It's such a shame they didn't realize realize how important the show was to Ninjago's success, that they made such a lackluster series of shorts for g2
4:08 WHAT THE HELL I THOUGHT YOU EDITED THAT IN BUT I JUST WATCHED THE MOVIE AND IT'S ACTUALLY LIKE THAT
Now. Hear me out. Puss in Boots 2 was amazing and Universal was probably the reason why that movie even survived. Universal now owns Lego's movie rights, now what if the next Lego movie is a Bionicle movie made in the same style as Puss in boots 2 or Spiderverse. Maybe Dreamworks can help with it. To me that sounds like a dream come true
They do?
Still wondering if like the art style will be more toy-accurate and also if they will adapt the 2015 run or the OG series.
@@gracekim1998
WB sold them after Lego Movie 2 tanked.
I don’t think Bionicle has the brand recognition to be worth the investment. Plus, what would you do for the story? Do you just ignore the original movies and reboot it? If so, how much of the original story do you keep? Which arc do you start with? Do you keep any of the G2 changes? It’s a big mess that isn’t really worth it.
@@magnusprime962do you think Guardians of the galaxy mad marvel had the brand recognition beyond characters like spider man and wolverine
I honestly wish Bionicle could have a reboot movie series nowadays. Maybe actually being released in theaters and having some more famous actors on board.
Anyway, awesome video as always!
No need for famous actors given that there are legitimate voice actors with amazing skills that could give the characters the life the comics and books gave them.
@@jasonkeith2832 my ideal direction is an all-Maori cast
@@blakchristianbale That would be a great selling point, but I don't know if the current pool of voice actors actively working would be able to support a cast the size that any movie would need. Also, voice acting is best served by most qualified talent rather than most accurant ethnicity to character.
Legend Reborn was the only Bionicle movie I ever watched. I was born in 2005 so I missed out on the other installments of Bionicle. My thing was Hero Factory. But nevertheless, I loved the movie. I rewatched it so many times. It's a shame we never got a sequel.
This certainly awakened some dormant memories (Especially regarding The Legend Reborn) But when Mask of Light came up in this video, it triggered a fight of flight response due to the TAKUAAA earrape sound living rent free in the back of my skull.
The 2000s were a great time for this franchise. I get what you meant about how Bionicle would be better off as a show with 10 seasons, instead of being a bunch of movies that focus on the years themselves, while being separate from the first 2 years & the Ignition Trilogy.
The robotic details on the legend reborn chracters dont make sense lore wise. Because they are organic creatures
Seriously, these things were awesome. Even if they were "aimed at kids", they still did it in a cool way and made you feel cool watching them.
Mask of Light is certainly a classic and personal childhood favorite for me. It was dark, epic, sad, and emotionally powerful, even if it had a somewhat simple plot and all. :)
The scene on the beach where the toah rescue the matorans makes me cry every time
Can’t believe bionicle is Over 20 years old now
It's been 3000 years of Bolt saying Bionicles was peak and now we finally get the video. It's finally here.
3:51 *LET'S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THOSE FALLS!*
I was a big Bionicle fan when I was younger. I read the books from a friend or the library. My dad also got me all 4 movies. Sadly I lost all but the second movie from moving around.
Dude the faces of those guys in the last movie, I don’t care it that it came out before, those are hero factory faces.
As a massive fan of Bionicle and its lore I have extreme nostalgia for these movies and years later still really love these even though they do have alot of flaws and sometimes are a bit inaccurate with how some of the charachters are potrayed in these movies compared to the rest of the story.
While my only experience with Bionicle is the FPS game for the DS, I appreciate this man's dedication to the art.
These movies, while flawed, will always be part of my childhood as bionicle was my life. And even after 12 years, bionicle still had a good-sized devoted fanbase and I'm happy to be part of it.
The huge problem with the toy accurate designs in the forth movie, is because in the lore, the people of bara magna are meant to be completely organic, but with cyborg upgrades. But with this new style they look even more robotic than the toa and matoran
I’ve never seen any other bionicle content other than The Legend Reborn. I guess my parents got it for me at a garage sale somewhere in 2010 (I would have been 8 at the time) or something cuz I watched it Every. Single. Day. For about 2-3 years. You can pretty much tell that it’s a huuuuugggeeee part of my childhood. I loved Mata Nui’s holy personality, the vibrance of his allies and the cliffhanger hinting at something huge that never was. To this day, a Mata Nui set is one of my all time holy grails that I would spend a fortune for.
What do we do when we tell Diamondbolt there’s still one more Blockbuster?
Yes, I know it’s in Oregon.
Dude i literally had the exact same bionical 3 bed sheets. Thats trippy as hell cause i got them as a handmedown from my older brother since he was a massive collecter of them. I still have the gigantic toy bin completely filled with random bionical pieces as far as the bin could go. It was awesome just building those things for hours allong with watching the movies endlessly. Cheers for the nostalgia ride
When I heard Ninjago Cole's new voice (rip Kirby Morrow), I immediately recognised it as Jaller's va, and took psychic damage
I never had the privilege of growing up with the original Bionicle like most, as I was more aware and into Hero Factory before seeing the 2016 reboot line. But the original seems like something I would have a lot of fun watching, seeing all the locations, wildlife and getting to know all the set of characters and the distinctive personalities they have. I haven't seen the series on Netflix yet, but judging by your reaction maybe that's for the best, we'll find out soon enough. But even if I haven't really seen any of them I still want to see the engineering of Bionicle return to full form. Maybe Hero Factory too, if we're lucky.
We think the reason why people are not too happy at the Legend Reborn design is that in canon, the resistance of Bara Magna are supported to be the opposite of the resistance of the Matoran universe, basically the inhabitants of the M.U are robotic with organic elements like organs and such, so the Miramax design work with that idea, but the inhabitants of B.M are organic creatures with robotic elements like replacement limbs and organs. So the fact they look more robotic then the Toa looks off and makes them look bland by comparison.
Also they didn't give the Zesk a mention which immediately knocks it down a few.
I would add that the storytelling, character lines/voices, and action were even more "campier" to appeal to a younger audience instead of the demographic that grew up with the series.
wow tohunga fans are vocal and not happy about legend reborn.
Ill be honest. As a 26 year old man. I have all 4 on dvd and will watch them once or twice a year. Nothing like a good old nostalgia trip to make you feel good.
THE LEGEND REBORN IS MY FAVORITE ONE! GLAD TO SEE I'M NOT ALONE!
BRO.
The Legend Reborn was such a fun trip!
Seeing as most of my collection consisted of the Agori and Glatorians, it was so cool to see them animated! And, unlike with the previous 3 films, I could actually invest myself in the world and characters. Of course, I didn’t know the lore either, but as you said, this one introduces it to us through Mata Nui.
Even as someone who just made up my own stories, I really appreciated seeing these characters brought to life.
-Also, Mallum’s indeed got a great design. Strakk is probably higher for me personally, though. I also have a soft spot for Metus, so it was cool seeing him play a decently-sized role (even if he turned out not to be such an _ice_ guy.)
I remember being 5 years old watching web of shadows and recently thinking that was a fever dream and not a real movie until now
okay I had to pause 3 seconds into the video just to say the man is looking absolutely dapper in that shirt
Finally a dimmondbolt upload again. Thank you for reminding me of this piece of my childhood
Did you know that Roodaka was voiced by the same actress as Gali.
Honestly I think the biggest problem with Bionicle returning is that Bionicle as a whole is very fit for the time it came out the 2000s, the art style, the edginess, even the concept overall I think it would be great but it needs to return to it's core Wich is very hard, I don't think Lego one day wants to bring back a whole line that feels like it came straight out of the 2000s, while I would love it and with the whole Y2K trend I feel it would work a company won't take that risk
I've been getting my friends into Bionicle, retelling all the lore to them like a Turaga telling the tale of Mata Nui.
And then this gets uploaded.
Stop reading my mind Diamondbolt.
Have you seen lego rewind?
That series ended a while ago with a final episode with bionicle and that covers the toys, story, etc...
I realized the entire videos has Kirby music all the time and I love it
These movie are so iconic and I grew up with these movies
I’m so happy you posted. I remember when you talked about Hero Factory and Sonic and Transformers.
The Bionicle community worships this video
That they do
Ah the bionicle movies, what a blast from the past. These are really made for fans of the franchise because i was never lost watching any of them
There needs to be a kickstarter to get the piraka /under water story made into a movie. I’d re by all those sets as an adult😂
The problem is the Piraka part has too much story for one movie, whereas the Mahri part has barely anything interesting happen until the end
The Glatorian Line plus Glatorian Legends was only one year, 2009. It was not 2. Besides that error this is a very well put together video. Its always nice to see more Bionicle content on TH-cam!
The reason they look more human-like and less like the toys is to portray them as the bio-mechanical beings they are in the stories by making them look more organic. Maybe not as iconic as the actual toys, but the toys themselves don't exactly look organic and just mechanical.
Toy accuracy is overrated anyway.
Watching this while I build my Tahu and Takua GWP! :D perfect timing with this video, diamond! my sets even just came in today!
Honestly glad I'm not the only one who loved the legend reborn, Rock on Diamondbolt!
I didn't expect Bionicle to share something in common with LEGO Friends, which didn't have it's animated counterparts resemble the toys until 2021 with a holiday special.
I really wish we got a movie or two for the Mask of Life story arc.
Imagine if the original cast members were brought back to reprise their roles in a Netflix series. Andrew Francis as _Toa_ Jaller would be a dream come true.
What’s next, rewatching The Hero Factory mini series?
Hero Factory retrospective would be neat.
I remember giving them so much hate as a kid because it was supposed to be a replacement for Bionicle... and then once Hero Factory was canned it became a "be careful of what you wish for" moment.
@@erikhanseisenheber looking back at them now I definitely missed out
@@erikhanseisenheber by 2014 they had already basically given up on it, it's a shame they never continued the storyline from breakout.

Words cannot describe how much I enjoyed this video, im smiling just looking at it. Im genuinely serious, this makes me feel so happy and satisfied for some reason
after this video all i could think about was the untapped potential these movies had, imagine an animated movie about the Toa Ignika, it could've had so much more world building. Like the Piraka, the Dark Hunters, the Order of Matanui and imagine how creepy it would be see Karzani and his island. Same with the Marinui saga, especcialy with Matoro's sacrifice.

I’m currently waiting for the 2022 movies you’ve seen Diamond bolt, I will be waiting.
Love seeing some respect being put on the legend reborn lol, that was also the only one I actually watched when it came out and was a pretty cool premise for a fish out of water story, like having 7 years of the story set around some dudes waking up their god to then becoming that god trying to get back to the dudes that worshipped him
I honestly quite liked the designs of the original film, from the fact that it expanded on the idea that the Matorans (and other species) are either biomechanical natural cyborgs, with both fleshy and natural mechanical parts or the fact that the Rahkshi are just exoskeletons powered by slugs.
This video came in my recommendations just as i started building the commemorative Bionicle 2023 set and i couldn't ask for a better video to watch while building.
THESE MOVIES WERE MY CHILDHOOD! Great movies and great video bro 👍 Love your channel
Take a shot every time you hear “TAKUAAAAA”.
It's not a corpse of the great beings. It's from the first version of the Great SPIRIT Robot that failed from a unstable battery.
The Bionicle story writer Greg Farshtey later stated that the Great Beings and Elemental Lords are roughly the same sizes as Toa/Glatorians
When I was like 5 I watched the 4th film so many times and I loved it so seeing some of the stuff from it again just made my day
Great retrospective! I didn't really grow up with these movies but i love watching them from time to time as an adult lmao
