    Josey, your battleship is indeed a beast. Having previously owned both bass and ski boats, I know how much it means to make a boat your personal baby by giving it gifts that make your time on the water more relaxing (or exciting) and enjoyable. Hope the 2019 season gets underway soon, the weather cooperates and the fish are biting. Best of luck, Don

    Good review, Buddy. I haven't been out on my Titan in about 4 months (weather), and I'm getting really excited about this Springtime Fishing.
    Drove all the way down to Bass Pro Shop last week, only to find out the "On Sale" price of their Lowrance didn't have topo-maps included! (And, I missed the "Sale" by 2 days, anyway!). Haha! Probably going with at least a 17 Amp Battery, as I installed deck and seat lighting, and need a power source for the Fishfinder, also!
    Good luck with your fishing adventures, and I have to agree with you: Titan 10.5 really ARE "Battleships"!

    After a year on a low budget kayak, I’m ready to move up, and everything points to the Native Titan 10.5. I love the width and stability, need to stand without worries. All the upgrades look good and make sense. And when you said ‘Battleship’, I was sold, lol. I’m not worried about keeping it pristine, it will earn its battle marks. Been checking other guys videos you mentioned as well, I’m really liking this kayak, hope to actually test one in the spring first, but I can’t see not liking it. Thanks for the video.

    • @Josey4u
      @Josey4u  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The two screw holes at the bottom where the transducer mount in, I was only able to use one. But before mounting it, I took some Marine silicone and put it all over the back of that black mounting board. So if I want to replace it or upgrade, I can.
      This thing is a full two years old now and I have never had an issue with it. It has stayed stable on the boat.

    • @Josey4u
      @Josey4u  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In the beginning, I chose the 10.5 over storage space in the garage. Since then however I've started to transport the boat on a trailer.
      If you have the room, you definitely can't go wrong with the 13 and a half. However let me say this, I fished many tournaments. I've been to the National Championship twice. I have never felt like I needed more room in the boat. My 10 and a half has done absolutely everything I've Ever Needed done.
      I've had no regrets on having the 10.5.

  • @vince01234
    @vince01234 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good video. Couple questions for ya. I’m about to be installing a garmin fishfinder on my son’s native titan. He is thinking about putting it in the same spot you put yours. Are you happy with that spot because it’s gonna be scary to drill through. Also any info on that upgrade you did with your rudder cable. Was that worth it and hard to instal? My sons channel is Dylan Fuqua kayak bassin. We fish over in Missouri from time to time.

    • @Josey4u
      @Josey4u  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for stopping by the channel! Yes I think I actually subscribe to Dylan. I watched his Pomme de Terre tournament video I believe not too long ago.
      I think the location of the fish finder is probably the best place for it. My reasoning for that is that it leaves the starboard side of the boat completely free and clear for you to swing a rod or a net if you want to. Stacking the rudder and the Fish Finder on the same side means as you turn and control the boat you are constantly graphing and reading the finder.
      In my opinion after running the entire year without the rudder upgrade, it was definitely worth it. My first trip out in it after I had it installed there was a very clear difference in response and control. If you get the rudder, I would strongly suggest you also get the cable upgrade to prevent the cable from breaking on you out on the water. I wasn't completely confident to do both of them on my own so I took it to Ozark Mountain Trading Company to have it done. It cost me like 60 bucks. Which was worth it for the peace of mind for me.

    • @vince01234
      @vince01234 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Josey4u He has the boondox rudder already. Was just curious about the cable upgrade. I think his boat also leaks through that rudder control, but not too much. Have you had any problems with that?

    • @Josey4u
      @Josey4u  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vince01234 yes just a minor leak. The water is coming from the rudder when you do the rudder upgrade. If you contact native they will send you a set of gaskets you can put on the rudder.
      I definitely think it's a good idea to do the cable upgrade but have it done right either with a guy you know well, or someone who has the competency to do it. I know personally two people who have broken their cables on the water because the bite on the new Rudder is so good.

    @mikem8295 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey I like your set up a lot. I am currently rigging mine, and actually have the same fish finder. The thing I was a little worried about is shallow water paddling.
    Do you think the fish finder is in the way where you have it? I dont want to deal with any clearance issues. thanks and nice job on the boat!

    • @Josey4u
      @Josey4u  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have notice that I have to bend it down for shallow water paddling. I either have to bend it down, or back toward my seat. The RAM mount REALLY helps with that.

    • @mikem8295
      @mikem8295 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like the review. Big question that I’ve had recently. I’m going to participate in my 1st kayak tournament this coming season (still very much winter in Wisconsin) and I had a question. I recently bought a Titan 12 and I’ve been planning for a couple of tournaments in April/May. My question is: what is your range during a tournament, or what’s the farthest you will go after the launch? Assuming there’s no big current or wind, you’re just pedaling, and the tournament is like 7am-2pm. Looking at maps I don’t even know what is in my realistic range. Thanks

    • @Josey4u
      @Josey4u  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally I try to stay within 2 miles. Sometimes 3. But I try to put in close to where I scouted or did my pre fishing. You've got so much range in that boat. The 12 Looks really good. I can get up to 4 almost 5 miles an hour, so your range is pretty good man!

      Yes!! I'm going to pin this comment. This was something I spent more money on than I expected to. The steering should be much smoother for what you spend on the boat. I upgraded the rudder, the cable and the steering. You shouldn't have to do that with a boat that retails for $2,500.

    • @williambouchard4480
      @williambouchard4480 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My comment is that the 2021 Titan 10.5 has MUCH improved steering so that now no upgrades are needed for it. I own a 2018 Titan 12 and I have had to spend money on a new rudder and new steering handle and it's still not the greatest, but the stability is AWESOME!

    • @Josey4u
      @Josey4u  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I fish some bigger water here in the Midwest, no surf conditions. My stuff is mostly reservoirs, Ozark lakes and local lakes (no ponds). At the KBF Championship last year I fished the Red River in Louisiana (lots of current). It is a massive stump field in Chocolate milk water. The stumps are just below the water line, so you can't see them until you are right on them. Hit, bounced and slid my way 3 miles back to a ramp in this thing.
      At Big Hill Kansas we battled 20 MPH winds with gusts near 30-35. I could pedal where I wanted, which was better than half of the field who couldn't cross the lake. You can see that video under Big Hill KBF Trail event.
      This has been a great boat for me. I have never felt like I needed something bigger or didn't have enough room. Hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by the channel man. Are you a yakker?
