      Mr. Doctor genius do you sell yeasts that produce fragrance and essential oils that can be used in perfume making?, if you can, how much would little samples of each cost?, and would you be able to ship some?, if so tell me how to transfer the money to you, Thank you.

    looking forward to following this series! I think it would be very cool to engineer yeast to produce psilocybin !

    I'm surprised you dont have more views or a higher amount of likes to views. for the time being this is an underated video in my opinion.

    Awesome project, I love to see all the steps of using these novel technologies in detail :)
    Have you ever attempted projects on modifying large funghi (e.g. oyster mushrooms) to enhance their capability for breaking down waste products such as plastics?

      I have not but I've always wanted to! I think there isn't as much work done on genetically engineering filamentous fungi unfortunately...

    Nice work Nick. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Also, how cool is it to see our lab in a youtube video? lol

    Ok but is there a possibility and the plazmid or the DNA from it will find a way to some of your cells or to some cells in your microbiome and they will make cinamoon alcohol constantly? Or if you somehow swallowed the yeast itself and it became part of your microbiome would you become a walking factory of cinamoon? I am concerned if there are some similar dangers especially if people will start producing a more dangerous chemicals this way.

    Hi. Very interesting. I am thinking about some bacterials who can give oxygen for roots, or can produce some fertilizers.
    So to produce oxygen I need to find bacterials or fungus who lives on roots + someone who can produce oxygen, for example cyanobacteria. Teach this bacteria produce oxygen not from sun, but from some elements. Merge this in to root bacterials. Something like this? Or easier just teach roots to produce oxygen for themselves?))

    • @DIYBiotech
      @DIYBiotech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is interesting! There is definitely research on GM organisms that produce fertilizers at plant roots. Not sure how easy it would be to produce oxygen though... the fact that some organisms can produce oxygen is still a wonder of thermodynamics!

    very cool project, any chance you could make a video on making nutrional yeast at home?

    • @DIYBiotech
      @DIYBiotech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@swaystar1235 absolutely! My plan is to start with bread yeast, culture it in brown sugar media, and then autolyse. Trying to figure out an easy at home way to sterily culture though...

    • @swaystar1235
      @swaystar1235 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DIYBiotech maybe you can demonstrate multiple types of media, some people might not have brown sugar but instead jaggery or malt or only white sugar, not sure if its possible with those sugars at all but yeah.
      As for sterilize, everyones got fire lol, be it a candle or a lighter, should be possible to just sterlize a metal container with fire right?

    hey great vid and excited for the series when you say your modifying the gene to work with the different yeast strain. how does one go about that? is it just changing the plasmid or an actual change to the gene?

    • @DIYBiotech
      @DIYBiotech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll just do codon optimization! Every organism has a slightly different language that they read RNA in. I'll cover it in the next video in the series :)

    I'm so excited for this project. Is there anyway you would be willing to send me some of the finished yeast when it's done and can I donate to the project?

    • @DIYBiotech
      @DIYBiotech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad you're excited! Message me on the Instagram for more details (DIY_Biotech), but in short, this is a federally funded project and so I don't think I could take donations. The strains will likely be publically available in a couple years, but if you're at an academic institution, I could probably find a way to share them!

      That'd be cool! We need to first understand which enzymes make this compound, however.

    Could you develop a bioengineered parasite that can form a symbiotic relationship with humans to assist in bile production?

    That Vit A part project is a terrible idea if the goal is to correct the deficiency by increasing beta carotene intake rather than Vit A per se.
